Rediscovering My Home City of Toronto Through Its Ever-Changing Food Scene

"When she arrived from Egypt in 2000 as a kid, she recalls being immediately smitten with the city's multitude of ethnic neighborhoods, including two that are now close to home—Little India and Greektown. Wahba still enjoys showing people around her neighborhood—a mix of classic one-story bungalows, redbrick corner stores, and small businesses. When not in the shop, you'll find her sipping tea with neighbors or eating at nearby spots, like the Michelin-rated Wynona."

Wynona

"Wynona is a lively and friendly neighborhood bistro. The open kitchen is the heartbeat of the place—snag a seat at one of the tables to watch the chefs at work. The young team is relaxed but efficient, and all guests are well looked after, with staff members happily recommending dishes or wines.Seasonality drives their selections, and the menu changes weekly. Clear Italian influences are evident across the menu. Case in point? Thin slices of capocollo ham, topped with pickled banana peppers and drizzled with sweet local honey is certainly a Med-minded opener, and a delicious one at that. You'll never go wrong with homemade pasta, perhaps lumache with sausage crumble, sugar snap peas and a dollop of creamy cheese." - Michelin Inspector

Fabulous experience. Came here for a wedding anniversary and it was perfect - Food was on point. Not a bad dish had. Serving sized were good and the flavours thoughtful and elegant. - Service friendly and attentive without being annoying and in your face. The space is cozy but uncluttered. Highly recommend it for any intimate and important occasion.

Google
Food was so good and full of surprises. It was for my wife’s birthday and did a $75 pp on the “trust us menu”. Wonderful experience. The one which we enjoyed the most was the sweet pasta. It’s so good that we have been telling our friends to go and eat this dish! Service was great.. waitress was busy but have times to talk to every table. Good job!! Atmosphere was great as well… table was full and I enjoyed people talking loudly instead of too quietly. So that we can talk a bit louder as well. The decorations were great too. Loved it! Well done!!!

Google
I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Winona and we will return ! The five-course set menu was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was artfully presented and bursting with flavour and the courses were generous. Every course arrived with a spot on wine pairing and a beautiful explanation of everything we were trying. The service was impeccable. If you’re looking to mark a special occasion at a Michelin star restaurant (ie/ not cheap, but great value still), in the unpretentious east end of the city, in a way that will stay with you long after the last bite, then this place is an absolute must.

Google
Stumbled across this place and they squeezed us in for an hour seating between reservations (thanks!). We sat at the front bar (great for people watching) and noticed that it was a Michelin guide restaurant (lucky us!). Butttt of the 6 dishes we tried, we were only really enjoyed two. The bread was nice and fresh, and the pasta was tasty. I would not recommend the potato dish (didn’t even finish it). The baked Alaska is fun, but note that it isn’t ice cream inside. Reservation is recommended.

Google
Check out @bredgyeats for food pics! Why does pasta have to be so delicious? Man, I'm consuming so many carbs, but I don't regret it one bit. Wynona's tonnarelli is totally slurp-worthy, and objectively better than spaghetti for its affinity to cling onto that unctuous egg yolk sauce, refined with a slight fruitiness of olive oil. The Humboldt squid on top is super tender and seasoned beautifully, and crispy squid ink breadcrumbs for textural contrast in each bite. It's corn season, so I'm absolutely obsessed with the agnolotti filled with a sweet and creamy corn filling that complements the tangy sauce made of crème fraiche and the sharpness of the cotija cheese. With the extra heterogeneous sweetness from the corn nibs, peaches, and a slight kick from the shishitos, you can have a complex and delicious bite. For dessert comes a unique combination of peaches and basil in a pavlova, where a cautious bite of each complement individually doesn't impress, but when combining everything together, each element complements and balances each other surprisingly well.

Google
A really lovely experience at this restaurant - every dish I had was excellent, especially the scallop appetizer that had a really great balance between the seafood and acidic + salty notes. The tiramisu at the end was also delicious with crunchy cookies and big sea salt flakes. Will come back once the menu changes more to try new things. Only caveat was that it was quite loud in here and I had to shout to talk to other people but good vibes still.

Google
We’ve been coming here for several years and every time it’s great. The new dish with fondant potatoes and mortadella is amazing. Hats off to chef for coming up with this wonderful flavor combination!

Google
Stopped here by chance when attending a show nearby. Very busy, so a reservation is a good idea. We sat at the cocktail height table along the front window, so we had a good view while enjoying a tasty dinner. Great service too. I had the Tonnarelli ( pasta and squid.. small cubes ) and my wife had the Branzino. Both very good, and a uniquely presented lemon curd/rhubarb dessert.

Yelp
I always enjoy my dinners at Wynona! I came here before Michelin came to Toronto and it was even better then. That said, they've maintained a great rotating menu and the ambiance is so calming. Now that they're busier I do find service is a touch more rushed and a bit less thoughtful but still good nonetheless. A nice touch is their homemade truffles that they provide at the end of the meal.

Yelp
Wynona was absolutely delicious and is a must try! We ordered about five dishes including the focaccia, squash, butternut squash pasta (special), duck pasta and the branzino. Everything we had was delicious but the butternut squash pasta was a standout. Delicious sauces accompany the pasta and the squash appetizer. Our server was attentive and helpful with suggestions and tips. Loved the cozy quiet atmosphere and small decor. I highly recommend stopping in.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. We started with the grilled focaccia and squash. Perfect combination for a hungry bunch. Highly recommend trying the orange wine. Speaking of, the decor is very warm and semi-dim. Candles, foliage and an open kitchen! Our server was really funny and personable, he gave up local bar recommendations!

Yelp
Fell in love with this place. Walked by it many times and I finally had the chance to try it. The food was delicious. Heavy. But soooo good. Great portion size for myself. The service was nice. The server was very nice and informative. Went for a early dinner, but it got busy pretty quick! Definitely will come back again in the near future. The menu changes quiet a bit apparently so I look forward to the next one!

Yelp
We had high expectations for the dinner at this Michelin Bib restaurant. The best part of my dinner was scallops in a delicious sauce. Unfortunately, the main dishes were not up to par with Michelin mention: while my branzino was well cooked, the olives on the top were burnt to the point I could not tell what was it. When I mentioned that to our server, she said it was "special kind of olives". My husband's tonnarelli with squid had almost untraceable amount of squid. If in case of my branzino the mistake was made by kitchen due to a rush dinner hour, in case of my husband's pasta, the chef needs to rethink the recipe and delivery. The restaurant was full (very good) but we felt very rushed to move from one dish to another by our server (not good). Even the lively atmosphere at the restaurant did not compensate for all these mistakes unacceptable for the Michelin restaurant. Slightly disappointed.

Chris L.

Yelp
Overpriced, tasteless food. You will leave with an exorbitant bill, or you leave hungry. This is not Italian, nor Meditteranean.

Yelp
Wynona, located near Gerrard St. E. and Logan Ave, is a small and intimate restaurant space offering homemade pastas and dishes with locally sourced ingredients as well as natural wines. The east end restaurant brings unique dishes and flavours to the Riverdale area. There is indoor and patio seating where there is seating for about ~30-35 customers indoors. In the summer there is a patio the restaurant utilizes. Reservations can be made online and are recommended. I had heard about Wynona before but never got a chance to try the restaurant until now. I had just finished watching the most recent season of Top Chef Canada and knew that the head chef at Wynona used to work at the now shuttered Crosley's (another great short lived restaurant!) My friend and I booked reservations for Wynona and we were pleasantly surprised the restaurant was quite full mid-week. The space and décor was warm and inviting. The open kitchen allows patrons to view the chefs and cooks in action. Service never felt rushed and was attentive/friendly. In regards to food, we ordered the following items to share: Appetizer - Winter squash, sherry agrodolce, golden raisins, almond milk, puffed grains Pasta - Taleggio and creamed leek agnolotti, butterball potato, Burgundy truffle (my favourite dish that night!) Main - Ontario Muscovy duck breast, Tokyo turnips, Swiss chard, pine mushroom & black truffle ketchup Dessert - Dark chocolate mousse, pistachio cremeux, crème fraiche, Intosso olive oil All the dishes were delicious and well balanced/seasoned! The texture of the winter squash was cooked perfectly where it was dense yet soft. The other ingredients in the dish worked well with the squash to highlight the vegetable. The puffed grains added texture to the dish. The pasta was excellent as the agnolotti was light and airy. The stuffing inside the agnolotti burst open with flavor as soon as you bit into an agnolotti. The butterball potato and truffle added to the dish. The pasta dish was likely my favourite of the night - it had great balance and was unique, nothing I've ever had before! The duck was also made well - it was borderline on the edge of being overcooked but it still had a slight chew and tenderness to each piece. I've actually had the pine mushroom and black truffle ketchup before at Crosley's and it was just as delicious at Wynona. Lastly, the dessert was great as well as it the chocolate mousse was light but had a sweet/salty component to it. The flavours the other ingredients added to the dish provided texture and contrast as well as other flavor profiles to the mousse. Great finish to a great meal. Overall, delicious food and great service in the east end!

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant experience! I so rarely adventure to the east end of the city, but going forward, whenever I do, I'll make sure to come to Wynona. Our concert at History was cancelled that evening, but we were so glad we still made the trek for our reservation. The service was great, and he told us the wonderful story/journey of the Serbian wine we chose to have. We were sold! And it was from the region my partner was born in, which was a nice surprise. The photos I took do not give the delicious food justice - so, so good. I love the open kitchen, as well. We're heading back this evening for more and will try out the patio. Can't wait!

Yelp
Nice casual evening sharing delicious food with wonderful friends. Hostess and servers were friendly and offered great suggestions. We were a table of 5, dining on a Wednesday night. Judging from how busy the place was, reservations are a must. * Grilled focaccia - delicious but wish it was a larger portion. Only 3 slices per order. * Burrata, white wine poached Asian pear, green grape, pine nuts, and fennel pollen - lovely combination of flavours. However the Burrata was served too cold and didn't melt when we cut into it. * Salad of little gem, Ontario sweet peas, green goddess dressing, feta, and pumpernickel dill breadcrumb - we all loved the sprinkle of the pumpernickel dill breadcrumbs. Added a nice flavour and texture to the salad. * Beet honey agnolotti, poppy seed butter, sherry vinegar gastrique, currants, red kale, and ricotta salata - at first we thought it wasn't going to be enough but these little pockets of yummy goodness were richer than we expected. Portion size was perfect for us. * Cuttlefish ink tonnarelli, octopus ragu, baresane olives, paprika oil, dandelion - surprisingly tasty and quite filling. The octopus was well cooked (not rubbery) and the flavours all worked really nicely together. * Branzino, brown butter, cerignola olives, capers, oregano, and lemon - always nice to have a whole fish. Wish it was a slightly larger portion. * Grilled Ontario pork chop, purple mizuna, shaved almond, and apple mostarda - pork chop was cooked perfectly. Tender and juicy. The apple mostarda went so well with the pork chop. * Olive oil cake, Ontario strawberries, pastry cream, and chantilly - think deconstructed strawberry shortcake with a little twist. The fresh strawberries were great as they were in season. * Crème caramel - exactly what we expected it to be. Silky and smooth. If we were in the area again, we would definitely come back.

Yelp
Cute small restaurant in the east end will not leave you disappointed. Tho the menu is fairly small, everything on there Is delicious, and makes your decision easier to make. We ordered the Focaccia and Burrata as starters. They went perfectly together. Next, I ordered the Cavatelli Pomodoro and my partner got the Cuttlefish Ink Spaghetti. Both in perfectly portioned sizes. And for dessert we got the Creme caramel. Which if you're a caramel fan, this will be the perfect dessert for you. They did not skimp out on the caramel sauce. Try to get a reso if you're going to ensure you get a spot!

Yelp
TLDR: I'm definitely coming back here. It's so good. We were seated pretty quickly as I had a reservation. We had the focaccia, burrata, lumache with sausage, and celeriac agnolotti. Where do I start? I could taste how amazing and fresh the ingredients were. The burrata was amazing. The way the cheese complemented the salt of the ham, the sweetness of the persimmons and the nuttiness of the almonds? That was *chef's kiss*. The lumache was perfect too. The ricotta added a creaminess without drowning out the dish and the sausage was perfectly seasoned and the lumache was perfectly al dente with a bite. The agnolotti was a little heavy for my taste but it was still amazing. The morels and the slightly acidic sauce helped balance out the ricotta in the pasta. I'd never had celeriac in my life but I got to say, I'm a fan. A celery-flavoured potato? I'm all in--I love potatoes. My only gripe was the focaccia. It was literally 4 thick slices of bread grilled in what I can only guess to be liquid smoke, because buns don't get that smokey on the grill in my experience.

Yelp
Good quality and taste, though a tad salty and pricey for the portion sizes. My wife and I went for dinner and got: - Focaccia: Nice grill marks, really buttery, chewy on the crust side and soft on the inside. That said, it was weirdly salty. - Burrata: The burrata was smooth, the ham was tasty, and the almonds were tastily crunchy. The peaches though were just a smidge sour and I would have wanted more of that delicious honey. - Branzino: Nice crisp on the outer skin, good bathing in lemon sauce. But a bit too salty, even for branzino. - Tonnarelli: The cuttlefish ink gave the noodles a nice seaside taste. My main complaint is there were so little of the tasty mussels. - Agnolotti: Best dish of the night. The pasta was stuffed well with a rich ricotta and the mushrooms that adorned it were fresh and tasty. - Panna Cotta: Super smooth. And the toppings of pear and pine nuts were the perfect complement/contrast to the honey vanilla taste. Service was pleasant and quick. Overall, a pretty good dinner, albeit a pricey one. Not sure if I'll be back but worth a try.

Yelp
I went there for the second time. First time was last summer and it was a wonderful experience and great service. We went there a couple of weeks ago and our experience was ruined by the jackass head waiter. First he wouldn't move us to another table, fair enough. Then he would try to make us order more and make us feel cheap because we were not ordering more food. I've been to fantastic restaurants all my life and most of them treated me real nice. I don't understand what he's trying to accomplish with this snotty condescending service. You don't want us to come back? Okay, got it, we'll never go back. The food was pretty good, but not out of this world. And vegetarians or vegans , please avoid. You have to pick out lard or bacon bits out of the salad and vegetable dish. They should have a couple of fully plant based dishes, like most restaurants have nowadays.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
4.5 rounded to a 5. We loved the food here. Menu was small but thoughtful and the selection of wines were great. We loved both the branzino and the tonnarelli we ordered. Flavours were unique and both dishes were well presented. The ingredients were fresh and the octopus and fish were cooked perfectly. We also loved the fresh in house made pasta. Ambiance was great as well and service was attentive and helpful. I would definitely come back and try their future menu items!

Yelp
Part of a longer review "Much like the carefully crafted wine list, Chef Jeff Bovis has created a seasonally inspired menu - with only 16 dishes - that is worth salivating over. Bovis gained experience at fish-focused restaurant Ufficio, and some similarities translate to Wynona's menu. From albacore tuna crudo ($16) to Ontario heritage pork chop with Puy lentils and apple fennel salad ($27), every item is an accurate reflection of the space -- striking the perfect balance between rustique et sophistiqué. Par exemple, the burrata ($17) that we started with was luscious and creamy. It was paired with plump figs, ham, honey, almond, and fennel pollen. Like an elevated charcuterie board, it played with a range of tastes and textures -- from briny to salty, and finishing with a sweet note. The cold-cut style ham practically melted dans ma bouche, but I would have liked to see less of it on the plate or perhaps removed it altogether, as its saltiness overpowered the cheesy star of the dish."
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
We ordered their New Years kit, complete with salad, duck confit pasta, and delicious cake and champagne. We loved everything on the menu and on our palate! What a wonderful hidden gem of a restaurant. Understated, unpretentious and just delectable! We will be back for more savory meals.
google avatar

Food Sno B.

Yelp
3.8/5. My notes: Food was decent - use of a lot of butter, oil and salt. Found myself wiping my lips of grease after each bite of pasta. Price is relatively high for the portion size and level of service. Our waiter took down our order incorrectly, service was a little slow, they don't provide fresh plates after each course, and they don't wipe/clean the table after plates are cleared. Location of the restaurant is in a bit of a dodgy area.
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
We came here and had the most romantic dinner. Wine was good :) Small menu but everything we tried was delicious and presentation was A+ will definitely be back here in the summer.
google avatar

Cathy B.

Yelp
We found this good but not great. The prices are higher than I'd normally pay for that quality. Glad I tried it and I wanted to love it, but I didn't.

Yelp
I was so excited to visit this place with my wife. We ordered a steak and a snitzel, two glass of wine and a focaccia. We get the appetizer the focaccia and it was burn badly. We didn't complain because anyway it's just 3 slice of bread with butter. After we got our main food omg. Steak was dry and chewy. And the snitzel was so salty, raw and just terrible. We love Italian restaurants. But we will stay away from this place. Btw our bill was $300.

Yelp
Had a very lovely brunch on a Saturday at Wynona. The crepes and sausage I had was really tasty and hearty. I added a sunny side up egg to the dish and it worked really well together. I tried their potato rosti and it was crispy, so good! Great wine selection here I look forward to another visit to have a taste of their dinner menu.

Yelp
With the untimely demise of Saturday Dinette, Wynona is a welcome addition to Gerrard Street East, with its sophisticated but comfortable take on Italian food. Wynona's interior is comfortable, bright and well laid out. There is a patio, but when we visited it was really bright out and there was no shade, so we opted for inside. The wine list was fairly unique. We had an excellent rosé from Lebanon, which was an unexpected delight. The staff were very knowledgeable about the list, and our glasses were always full. The food was excellent all around. We started off with grilled focaccia bread and a side of Portuguese sardines and roasted peppers. Though they are separate dishes, the olive oil served with the sardines is a great dip for the bread. Our second dish was the charred heirloom carrots served with chickpeas and yogurt. This was nice and light with a slight tartness to it. For our mains, my partner and I both ordered pasta dishes. I had the cuttlefish ink spaghetti with BC clams. The noodles were perfectly al dente. My partner had the rutabaga agnolotti with ramp butter and potato crumb. For something in a butter sauce, it felt surprisingly light and perfectly cooked. The only minor complaint is that the dishes were a bit on the small side, so you'll definitely want to try some appetizers. For dessert, we shared tiramisu which was great and fairly sizeable. Overall, the service was great. They passed the water test: our glasses was refilled before it could be emptied. Our food came out at a reasonable pace and they came to pour our glasses frequently. My only criticism of the restaurant is the small-ish portions of the pasta dishes. Otherwise, it was a perfect night out.
google avatar

Robyn H.

Yelp
Wynona is a darling place in the east side. It is brightly lit, with a number of small to medium sized tables. We sat at the stool nook at the front directly facing the patio. The meal overall was good - well cooked, decent portions and hearty. The corn agnolotti was my favourite / so fresh and summery, and perfect with a glass of wine. Prices were fair and the service was great. Would happily go back again.
google avatar

Angela V.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever experienced. Wynona is a gorgeous, modern Italian restaurant that's new-ish to the east end. (I can't tell you how happy I am that this place isn't on the west side of town!) This place is so underrated. Flavours are so rich and unique. It was truly edible art and you can tell so much heart and soul was put into each dish. It feels so funny to say these things about food but words can't describe how home-y but decadent everything tasted. Standouts were the cheese + charcuterie board (yum), carrot agnolotti (so buttery and unforgettable), cavatelli pomodoro (very light and fresh), and grilled Branzino (loved the flavour of the mild fish with the briny capers). Overall, everything felt so fresh and whimsical, but also traditional and classic. Will definitely be returning!
google avatar

Yelp
Had such a delicious meal here last night! Wynona is located just a block away from East Chinatown and is known for their excellent pasta dishes. The interior is pretty minimal, with light wooden accents and the odd flower or two tucked away in slim glass vases as decoration. Very romantic and intimate. The kitchen takes up the back half of the restaurant so you can see the chefs at work while you sip on a drink from their extensive organic wine menu. To start we ordered the burrata with fig and ham. The waitress suggested we also order the focaccia to eat with it so we had that well. However when it arrived at the table it was pretty burnt so we were surprised they would even let it out of the kitchen. The burrata was great though and a pretty well sized portion for an appetizer. The figs were also the biggest I've ever seen in my life lol. For our mains we had the carrot agnolotti which stole our hearts. The pasta was bite sized and filled with carrot puree and maple butter. Wow. It was just so delicious and I love how small the pieces were which made it easy to eat but just wish there was more of it! For our second main we got the pork chop which was perfectly cooked. The meat was super tender and it was really fatty and delicious. I also liked how the green beans weren't overcooked and still had a bit of a crunch to it. I had such a good time here and will definitely be back to try their other dishes! I would definitely make reservations ahead of time as it is quite a small restaurant.

Yelp
Finally got to check this place out. Service was great and prompt. We never felt ignored. Wine was crazy pricey. I'm sorry but i don't know how they justify selling an ok wine for 17 bucks a 6 oz glass. Food was great. Had the carrot agnolotti, after starting with a very small salad of endive. Flavor over the top but omg WAY overpriced for the amount of food. Made a sandwich when I got home. Will take a pass on this place next time but am happy I checked it out.
google avatar

Shelly C.

Yelp
Finally decided to explore the east side a little more and came across Wynona. Super cute restaurant, minimalist, modern vibes. Food was great, gotta get the fish...and their dessert was amazinggg.
google avatar

Neil F.

Yelp
So what is 'perfect'? Meets and exceeds expectations? Yup. Surprising? Yup. Great service? Yup. Winona has this all this and more. Unassuming and currently looking over a condo in-progress, this is a must on the east end circuit. Small, but lively. Family friendly, but not a 6pm kid-fest. Interesting menu, but always something you'll like. It was truly love as first plate. I can't believe I waited so long to go!
google avatar

Sam W.

Yelp
This restaurant opened only three weeks ago so I was excited to try out a brand new spot. The menu consists of mostly fish, pasta dishes and Mediterranean sides. There is a fairly large patio at the front of the restaurant on the side walk (which looked a bit underwhelming but our server mentioned it will be upgraded for next summer) so we chose to sit inside. There is an open concept kitchen which you can really observe given the smaller size of the restaurant. We shared the hummus and olive dish which came with grilled bread, which was amazing. The bread was lightly oiled and salted and didn't even need the dip it was so good. For main, I got the cavatelli and they were willing to make it dairy free (just omitted the ricotta). The cherry tomatoes were skinned and really melted in your mouth. The pasta portion could have been bigger so you really needed to savour every bite!
google avatar

Rahul R.

Yelp
Great vibe and thoughtful staff. I was excited for Wynona to open and so far it is better than I'd hoped for. The patio is great as is the bar seating overlooking the street. Perfect at sunset. Ps. The Nebbiolo by the glass is fantastic.

Yelp
Been here twice for brunch and both times were great! Food is absolutely delicious and service is friendly and fast. First time I had the 3-egg omelette and it was one of the best omelettes out of the popular Toronto brunch spots. Second time I tried the mushroom toast with poached egg and again, it was delicious and just the right amount of sauce and flavour. Can't wait to try the place for dinner and explore their wine menu as it looks very good. One of a few places that has a selection of orange wine!

Yelp
I rarely Yelp from the restaurant, but I'm still here. Terrific meal with best bread (bread can be very good) and wine. Pasta and fish. Every dish was perfect. Delicious. No kidding. 5 stars.

Laura C.

Yelp
The menu is great. The food is wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable. Interesting flavours and surprising combinations supported by a solid wine list. A refreshing change from the typical offerings of neighbourhood eateries, but I would offer some advice: Always make your guests feel welcome. We were reminded more than seven times that we had a two-hour window for our seating. The first reminder was five minutes after we arrived, and kept up at five-minute intervals until we were told we had five more minutes to order. I completely understand the challenge in turning tables (I get it. We were slow to make choices because we were trying to enjoy ourselves), but the approach was condescending and passive-aggressive. You can serve amazing food, but if your guests don't feel welcome, you've got a problem. Ultimately, we complied with the rules. We gulped down our wine and asked for the bill five minutes before our "deadline." Our server, happy to see the back of us, told us to "enjoy the rest of our evening". We did. We finished the night off at another local eatery where we were asked repeatedly if we were having a nice time -- not when we were leaving. Wynona, you can fix this. I hope you do.

Yelp
A nice little neighbourhood restaurant: casual and relaxed, though a little noisy at times (maybe I'm just sensitive to noise). Service was pleasant and accommodating, and the kitchen is solid. Pasta was delicious, and the fish we had was fresh and perfectly cooked. We had sardines and focaccia as an appetizer. I've never had sardines before, so I would say... only order them if you like sardines. I don't think I'd order them again. The bread was ok. Not stellar, but decent. Mains were definitely the highlight.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. It has never disappointed- the pasta is delicious and the service is great. It is on the pricey side for this area but definitely would still recommend for a nice night out. The branzino is a must have- as is any of their pastas.

Yelp
I was excited to try this new neighborhood spot and it did not disappoint! From the ambiance, to the inviting staff, to the mouthwatering dishes, Wynona and chef Jeff Bovis deliver a delightfully fresh dining experience. I can't wait to come back for more rutabaga agnolotti and the pork chop

Yelp
I like trying new restaurants. Unfortunately, I found the food here having no wow factor. A very pretentious establishment at best with little substance. Open kitchen is a plus though. I am a huge fan of Italian/Mediterranean food fare in Toronto but this one will be near the bottom of my list.

Yelp
I've been meaning to write this review for almost two months. AMAZING brunch! Everything was so delicious. I'm not usually a huge brunch person because I feel like a lot of stuff can be done at home for a lot cheaper, but Wynona is different. Everything was so fresh, love how the kitchen is right there, and the space is beautiful!

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with great food. The duck pasta is to die. They lose a star due to only having wine as an alcoholic beverage option.

Yelp
So they messed up my wife's birthday dinner. I called and they confirmed at 2pm. The server mentioned that the manager will call to reconfirm. We had a booking at 7pm. We show up and are told that there is mo booking. What....apparently they called and I did not pick up. I was at work and in meetings. How about texting?? Nope. Just cancel the booking. We walked away in a huff. They offered a few high chairs. Insulting. We had a nice meal on queen east. A great restaurant. So everything was okay. The restaurant did try and call a few days later. I saw a few missed calls. I guess they realized the error. Too late guys.

Yelp
Although the pasta portion was relatively small in comparison to it's price, the hot Maître d' certainly made up for it!

Yelp
Overall I recommend this place. Service and food was great. It's pasta with a french flare.

Yelp
Decor is beautiful. Vibe is cool. Food was good, but I think I was expecting more. I will go back just for the atmosphere.

Yelp
Beautiful minimalist and spacious interior with lots of light wood and soft lighting. The only downside is that his restaurant is a bit far from the downtown core and in the middle of nowhere - but it's worth the drive. I enjoyed: the focaccia bread, grilled veggies with yogurt, perfectly al dente cavatelli with chanterelle mushrooms, and duck. It wasn't the BEST duck I've had in the city but the skin was very crispy and delicious and the portion was generous. I preferred the pasta over the duck. I would pass on the albacore tuna appetizer. The highlight of the meal was dessert - loved their take on a berry pavlova. Their tiramisu is rather ugly (it's deconstructed) but so so delicious!
