Xel-Há - Review - La Condesa - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"You might think that with the white tablecloths, branded napkins, and waiters in bow ties, Xel-Há is one of those old-school restaurants serving passable to mediocre food. Not the case here. Their Yucatecan-leaning menu is packed with heavy hitters. You’ll eat spicy egg papadzules while watching a soccer game on one of several TVs inside the bright, family-friendly space. The menu has other hits like a panucho de cazón, rich sopa azteca served tableside with all the accoutrements like tortilla chips and avocado, and their famous cheesecake-flan hybrid. The best part of a trip here is that you can walk out having spent just $20 for a solid lunch, and somehow, they always have a table ready for you and your big group of friends, even though they’re always busy. photo credit: Andrew Reiner photo credit: Andrew Reiner photo credit: Andrew Reiner Pause Unmute" - Guillaume Guevara

A simple and clean joint serving some delicious Yucatán affairs. Servers are professional and speedy. No fuss no upsell but proud of their offering. We of course get the favorites, sopa de Lima, taco de pibil, torta the Pavo con escabeche. We also ordered their specials, crema de piñón (first time I ever seen this soup) and morcilla, the blood sausage. Everything came accordingly. Server even course out for us that for those who order soup, our tacos showed up as second course. I have to say that Yucatán is probably my favorite Mexican region in terms of the food. Great in its favor and yet light. Nothing is drenched in salsa and yet everything has the perfect seasoning. I love the raw onion with habanero and the spicy salsa they serve you on the side that complement everything. We finished off with apple pie and a special jello dessert with pineapple, nuts and carrot, interesting combo they serve during special holiday seasons. Will recommend for sure.

If you’re looking for a more laid-back neighborhood spot in Condesa that’s full of locals and serving really good food, amazing service, and fun atmosphere, this is the spot for you. They have a full bar with top-notch options, the food portions were perfect, and the service was outstanding. There are a few TVs if you’re into watching your favorite local teams and don’t skip the chilis en nogada if you’re there during the season.

Delightful restaurant with quality service from Moy and Fermin. The service alone should get this place a Michelin star and we found the food both interesting and spectacular. Unfortunately, the Chiles Nogadas were out of season, so we went with the Queso Relleno, some lime soup, a very excellent sopa Azteca and the flan with cheese which was essentially a cheesecake surrounded by flan. Given all the positive reviews, many of which indicate completely different dishes, I'd say this place is a winner from top to bottom. I'll dream of it when I return home.

Great food, friendly waiters, and a casual-bar like setting. I came here with a group of friends to watch a football match and also by myself and each time I had a great time.

¡Todo el menú es riquísimo! My brother and I had dinner here while staying in Condesa. He had never had Yucatán cuisine before, and it has been nearly thirty years since I have been to Yucatán. The food instantly transported me back! Our waiter, Mauricio, was a marvel. His recommendations were spot on perfect. You could not ask for more personal, attentive service in a restaurant anywhere in the world. My Spanish is conversational, but not fluent. That did not stop Mauricio and I from connecting like old friends. I am only writing this review in English to make sure I do our experience justice. I would give it six stars if I could! !Le daría seis estrellas si pudiera!

Love it. Everything you could ask as a first culinary experience of real Mexican plates. Focused in Yucatan's dishes, you won't be dissapointed. Service 11/10. Thank you for the good vibes Fermin!

We got cochinita pibil, sopa azteca, sopa lima, papadzules, relleno negro, and michelada. Relleno negro was amazing. Both soups were excellent as well!

Authentic and so not trendy. All you get is great food, attentive service (esp from Moy), nice cocktails and reasonable prices.
