London’s New Restaurant Openings

"Liverpool Street is known more for skyscrapers and people in suits, but it should be more of a destination for XL dumplings. We have a feeling Xi Home, with a menu that includes a soup dumpling the size of a steamer, might change that. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Xi Home Dumplings is a charming hidden spot that’s unlike any other restaurant I’ve been to. The setup is simple yet cozy, and the unique style of the menu, tables, and chairs adds to its character. The atmosphere feels relaxed and authentic—perfect for a casual meal. The dumplings are the highlight, freshly made and absolutely delicious. They’re packed with flavor, and you can tell they’re prepared with care. If you enjoy dumplings or are looking to try something new, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Lady that served us was lovely! Gave us some really nice recommendations. Fried dumplings with cheese were my favourite, and the cuttlefish and lobster were my husbands favourite cucumber salad and pork ears also very tasty. All seemed like very fresh ingredients. Highly recommend!

Had a nice dinner here on Wednesday. We ordered the vegan dumplings, the courgette, prawn and egg dumplings, Dan Dan noodles and spring onion pancake. The flavours were tasty and I liked the abundance of choice of dumplings. My main feedback would be to have a smaller portion size as an option as all dumplings were served in a portion size of 10 which meant we couldn't really try many since we were only three people.

The most amazing dumplings ever! We had the pork and chive, pork/prawn/chives, soup dumpling, and the pan fried dumplings with cheese and pork! Everything was so delicious and the service was great. Drinks were 10/10 too! Will definitely come back

What a wonderful place! We did the Dumpling Making Class. So much fun and informative. Small group, so we got a lot of help and attention and absolutely delicious dumplings. Stayed for delicious noodles after. Definitely a hidden gem and will definitely come back here in the future and recommend. Thank you!

This is my favourite branch of Xi Home as it modern and feel comfortable to dine. It is a short walk from Liverpool Street station. The menu was easy to navigate. Having visited a few time, each visit the food was consistent. As well as steam dumplings, their pan fried dumping is yummy. If you stand the spicy heat then the stir fried chicken is one to try. Whether it is the taro or the prawn filled shredded rolls, both are yummy dipped in their mango sauce.

Xi home dumplings obviously specializes in dumplings with seafood from Dalian like abalone, sea cucumber etc but the signature dumplings are quite expensive like £27 per portion and it doesn't say how many from the menu outside!! I have already had my fare share of these sort of dumplings at similar restaurants. Anyway, finally paid a visit because of the Haggis dumplings and discovered other dishes which I tried as at both branches. My first impression of the new branch was a bit disorganized as there were so menus for the haggis dumplings so it was hard to order them. It was late January yet they still had the Christmas menu on the table as well as the window. After waiting for a while, I managed to find the physical haggis menu as there was a pile of them near the counter. The haggis dumplings were a little different from what I imagined because it turns out that they use chopped offal like lungs and liver and not actual haggis. The taste was ok but a bit gamey. The dan dan noodles were seriously good because it is not the usual peanut broth. It has fine noodles tossed in sauce made with chilli oil, Sichuan pepper, sesame paste and garlic topped with minced meat and pickled greens. What I love about it is the super thin noodles which hang the sauce well and the finely chopped pickled green. Overall you get this lovely complex taste with the Sichuan spices and aromatic sesame paste but the only thing I did not like was the sweetness. To summarize, I prefer this branch over the Charing Cross one which is a bit chaotic.
