Xi’an Cuisine

Xian is my go-to Chinese restaurant around Aurora and Naperville. The service is always fast, the food is incredibly good and very consistent, and the portions are a great size—they’re very generous. I especially love their shrimp wonton soup, and honestly, everything we’ve tried has been delicious. It never disappoints my family. The servers are always friendly and welcoming, with the best service among Chinese restaurants in the area—always smiling and attentive.

This place is fantastic! The service is fast, the food is delicious and the food is surprisingly cheap. Several dishes are big enough for two people! The food is very authentic to northern china. The space is also quite adequate for large groups. There is a spacious parking lot and the establishment is wheel-chair friendly.

Tried Xi’an Cuisine in Naperville—no wait and prices were reasonable. The Sichuan dishes were the highlight: the lamb noodle soup (烩面) was flavorful and comforting, especially with white pepper and a splash of rice vinegar. The mapo tofu with fish slices was spicy and great with rice, though a bit heavy on chili oil. Xi’an-style snacks like the 肉夹馍 were just okay. Overall, a solid spot for Sichuan food.

Ordered eggplant and it was prepared horribly. It was sitting in a bed of oil which made it inedible. They also forgot to send my rice. They refused to refund my money and the manager didn’t even want to speak to me about it. This place is awful. PLEASE DO NOT EAT FROM HERE, don’t WASTE YOUR MONEY

Great selection of dishes and very generous portions. Everything we tried was delicious. However, there is one nuance with the menu: it’s not always clear what each dish actually is or what it’s made of. We would recommend adding more detailed descriptions or photos, because, for example, the “soups” section turned out to have dishes that were more like stir-fried meals rather than actual soups.

We recently visited Xian Cuisine as a family, and it was exactly what we were looking for! My wife is currently pregnant and had a craving for Thai food, while I was really in the mood for Chinese. To make it even more fun, we had our 2-year-old daughter with us, so we needed somewhere casual, welcoming, and family-friendly. Xian Cuisine checked all of those boxes. The best part about this place is that their menu has both authentic Thai and Chinese dishes, so no one had to compromise. My wife ordered a Thai dish, which was fresh, flavorful, and prepared just right — not overly spicy but still very tasty. I went with one of their Chinese entrées and was impressed with how balanced the flavors were and how generous the portions came out. Our little one was happy too, since there are plenty of rice and noodle dishes that work well for kids. Service was another highlight. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and they were very kind and patient with our toddler. The food came out quickly, which we always appreciate when dining with a young child. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed — nothing stuffy — which made it easy for us to enjoy a comfortable family meal. Overall, Xian Cuisine is a spot I’d recommend to anyone in the area, especially if you have a group with different cravings. It’s not always easy to find a restaurant that can deliver on both Thai and Chinese flavors at a high level, but they manage to do it. I came here on a Friday night. They took my order, and the dishes came out fast - everything came out probably under 10 min after ordering! After that, nobody ever stopped to check in or refill our waters or give us the check. It was busy and all the tables were full, but you’d think they’d come to check in. Waited 20 min to get my check… I think the food was good, but the service was definitely lacking.

I went recently with my boyfriend and we had an excellent experience! Waitress was extremely helpful and even offered a recommendation for the spicy orange chicken (absolutely delicious!). It certainly elevated our dining experience and I look forward to our next visit! If you're in the area, I certainly recommend this place as they have a great lunch + dinner option combo that offers fried rice, an entree, and a veggie or chicken egg roll. Great food for a great price!

I first tried the Xian Cuisine in Chinatown and love their flatbread so I was excited to see another location pop up in Naperville. We've been here a handful of times but it's taken me awhile to finally write a review. I personally love the cumin beef/lamb flatbreads. They're pretty flavorful and crispy when eaten fresh. Another one of our repeat dishes is the biang biang noodles (tomato, egg, black bean sauce, pork, braised beef). The noodles are perfectly chewy and the sauce is so flavorful and has a slight kick. The salted egg yolk fish fillet is amazing and it's the first dish to disappear every time we come here. The last time we came we ordered the fish fillet in sour pickle soup which wasn't what I expected. It was literally fish with sour soup instead of fish with pickled veggies soup. We've also tried the sweet and sour pork ribs which I wasn't a huge fan of but then again, I also don't tend to eat sweet and sour foods. However, my daughter loved this dish despite there being bones present. The four seasons green milk tea is pretty good and they are able to adjust the sugar/ice level. The food was paced well but they kept coming by to see if we were done with our soup bowls so maybe they need to increase their inventory?

Came here with a party of 9 on Wednesday and got seated right away at a large round table with a lazy Susan. I like the iPad ordering so they can confirm what is ordered but my mom ordered in Chinese and there was a mixup and they accidentally brought two dishes out. Crab Rangoon - sweet cream heavy. I've had better Chicken skewers - bigger and spicier than I expected. Get the no spice for kids Dan Dan noodles - the sauce is pretty salty so make sure you mix well Cumin beef flatbread - my husband thought it was a little dry but I liked the dry bbq flavor Pork flatbread - juicy and flavorful. A little meaty for me Sesame chicken - we ordered this without the sesame and the kids loved it Cabbage - yummy with rice and chicken Bao Cai - lots of flavors here. This is what we accidentally ordered so we ended up taking it home Hot and sour soup - some of the best I've had. Very spicy

Listen... I'm bias to Chinese food bc it is not my preference of cuisine...WOW! I am SHOOK with how excellent I thought the food, atmosphere, and service was at Xi'an Cuisine. Authentic or Americanize? They have em both! A group of 8 of us dined in for a weekend dinner and it was packed! Thankfully 1 of our friends made a reservation (Shout out Sanjay N. from the Chicago burbs Yelp squad for coordinating a great evening!) and we avoided having to wait for a table. Service throughout was consistent. Our server was really friendly and kept up with the hustle and bustle of a crazy busy Saturday night. In total we ordered 8 items and ate family style. Having a lazy susan in the center of the table was extremely helpful for us vs having to constantly pass dishes. The pricing here is reasonable especially given how generous the portions are. My favorites were the Cumin Lamb, Biang Biang Noodles & the Braised Beef Sirloin Hand Stretched Noodles (w/o the soup broth). Everything was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Ugh! This place is IT for me. The noodles?! Out of this world 4294299429430 stars! I'm extremely grateful this place is close to my house as I will definitely be frequent and recommend it to others.

Am update to my recent review about the "too spicy Vermicelli bowl". Not able or willing to waste food, I politely asked one of the waiters to get me a take-out container. Adding a side of rice to it, I brought it home with me. When I paid the check, I found they had never added the optional Beef that I had requested, and also had not charged me for it. Probably the waiter had simply not heard or understood me. As I mentioned, I was not thrilled with the service that night... but I'm glad I cast no aspersions on anyone. To-nite, at home, I reheated the soup with some sense of dread. I added some chicken to it, having no beef in the house. True to Xi-an's standard, the same soup was EXCELLENT, especially with the rice and chicken to temper the spiciness! This changes my feelings somewhat. The service the other night was lousy. But the food was as good as it has ever been - fresh, HOT (temperature), spicy (my fault for not knowing better), and better than any Chinese cuisine anywhere! I'll be back sooner than I had thought. When i need Biang Biang Noodles and a fantastic Won Ton Soup, I know where to go. That, at least, makes me happy. Bring the "real" Staff back, please?

Incredible lamb flatbread! The crab rangoons are good, too. Can't wait to try some of the noodles, the pictures look incredible!

This is a newly opened chain in Naperville and we tried over last Friday evening. It wasn't that crowded but a reservation would be helpful since we had to wait for 10-15 min to get our table Food wise it's decent I would not recommend this one. I like the china town one better. The service was slow due to crowd. Ambiance wise a very good place Overall I would give 3/5 stars

It was... okay. My dish was made with itty bits of ginger that I would bite into from time to time. I'm NOT a fan of ginger. But if you are then it's a good dish. I ordered the Seafood Tofu Pot. Shrimp, cuttlefish, scallops, white fish, tofu and veggies. I wish it had more veggies. But the flavor was decent. Served with white rice. My husband got the DanDan Noodles. That was definitely better after adding the spicy chili oil. We shared the beef and lamb skewers. The beef was SALTY but the lamb was pretty good. My experience was fine. The service was good. But would I make the drive to Naperville again for this place? No. There is a lot for parking.

Good portion sizes! 3 entrees can easily feed 4-5 people, so we went home with lots of leftovers. I really liked the Garlic Eggplant! Also their fruit teas are quite yummy.

Incredible food here! I need to come back and try more dishes! The noodles with hot and sour sauce are delicious, with a mouth numbing vinegar sauce that is absolutely addictive! The hong sue eggplant was delicious. And the chili fish special was so good as well. Goes perfect with a bowl of rice! The service was great! Very attentive wait staff. Neat place. Went on a Saturday for lunch and got pretty busy. The service is usually like why other Asian restaurant. You order and never get checked on again until you need your bill. Since I don't speak mandarin (anymore), I early get worse service. Noticing the trend around me with tables that do speak the language. I understand it though and it can be frustrating. We ordered a good amount of food, the spice levels were decent. Sometimes that can be inconsistent since another time we asked for spicy and that was darn near impossible to eat! Biang biang noodles was fun! Had 2 meats and tomato egg which was surprisingly delicious over noodles and altogether. Pig ear is safe to get every time, it's so good and a great app.

We stopped in because we wanted to try the noodles. We wanted to start with the shumai but they came out at the same time as our meals. It wasn't really a problem because everything was hot and it gave the entree a chance to cool down a bit. Although the menu said the shumai was 4 pieces we actually had 6 and they were soft and had a flavorful dipping sauce. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and my husband got the twice cooked pork. Both dishes looked and smelled great. The noodles had a wonderful texture and chew. The service was great as well. We got our drinks and food quickly and they waiter was there but not hovering. You know you're in for a good meal when the restaurant is filled with people of Asian descent. There was background music playing and depending on your location you could see them making the food. Highly recommend and we'll be happy to return with friends and family.

We ordered the stir-fried noodles, soup noodles with lamb, and tapas, and are absolutely authentic and phenomenal - perfectly chewy noodles, tender lamb, and just the right amount of heat. Service was quick and friendly. Portion sizes are generous.

The ingredients of this restaurant are very delicious, which can surprise me every time. The clerk is also very warm and the service is very professional.

We ordered take out from here on a Wednesday around noon. The guy who answered the phone was very friendly and great to talk to. Food only took around 20 minutes after we ordered for it to be ready. When we brought the food back everything was very well and tightly packaged. We shared the following items: DRY CHILI CHICKEN: Great item! Chicken is well fried and the chilis really make it so fragrant. BIANG BIANG NOODLES: The noodles are perfectly cooked and the large surface area really soaks up the sauce. The meat both ways in the noodles are tasty and love that there was also some bok choy as well. Definitely get this dish. SALTED EGG YOLK EGGPLANT: I've always been a huge fan of salted egg yolk eggplant but unfortunately this was not that good. It is way too sweet but at least the eggplant is well cooked. SHRIMP AND PORK WONTON: Ehh the wontons are just ok, more skin than meat unfortunately. The soup itself is light and nice though. All in all, a solid lunch option in the area!

Back here after almost a year, and the food and quality is just as good!! The service is always quick and everyone is friendly. This time for the food - we got Chicken in Hunan style D.12 and Hong Sue Eggplant 142 Both tasted amazing!! So flavorful and cozy. Need to come back more often!

Ambiance: 5/5 We came on a Monday around 4:45pm and were the only ones inside until around an hour later hahah. The inside was pretty spacious and would be great for groups of friends or even for a date. Service: 2/5 We were a little disappointed with service today because we had brought in a small bottle of beer and no one mentioned anything about a $15 BYOB fee to us until we were about to order. We had already been given glasses for it and were drinking it before all three servers rushed over and hassled us about the fee lol. In the end, we compromised and they said they will waive the fee if we ordered two beers. The whole interaction was just not the most professional and could have definitely been handled better, but it is what it is. Food: 5/5 Everything was so delicious!! Our favorites included the cabbage (MUST TRY!), lamb neck in tomato broth (it's a special order and not always available), and the lamb stir fry. The only dish that wasn't good were the cucumbers. It's legit just some chopped up cucumbers (not marinated or anything) with some black vinegar; do not recommend getting lol. We also tried the passion fruit green tea which was refreshing and not too sweet. Overall, we would definitely come back and try other yummy dishes.

So fun. On a road trip and getting HANGRY, I turned to Yelp who did not let me down. Very refreshing cucumber salad and a delicious bowl of soup later, I continued on my way. Good service and kind of loud Chinese music made for a fun stop.

Adding upon an earlier review -- Salt pepper smelt (3/5): The fish was too strongly fried and tough to chew. I felt like the flavor profile was more dominated by the breading used to fry the smelt than the smelt itself. Fish fillet in chili oil (4/5): The texture of the fish was good, though I would have preferred it without the breading on the outside and for the chef to use a little less oil.

Very clean and super fast service! The cold dish and cold noodle (liangpi) came out in less than 5 mins after ordering. Everything came out within 10 minutes of ordering! Try the pick 3 side dishes for $14.99, they give you large portions and it's a great way to try different side dishes. We got (seaweed, shredded vinegar potato, and pig ears). All three had great flavors and was perfect to get you ready to eat more. The liangpi or cold noodles are a xi'an classic and the gluten squares soaks up the sauce perfectly. Make sure you add chili oil to really bring out the flavor! Lamb skewers was very fresh but a bit sweet I think the chef may have westernized it a bit to fit the western pallet. The meat on the skewers were well cooked and generous in portion. The biang biang noodles is a must, especially if you like the chewy hand pulled noodles! Very authentic in taste. We also ordered a lamb guabao or lamb stuffed bun but it was eaten so fast no picture was available. 100% get the stuff bun! Over all it was a great experience and I only taken some points off because of how lightly seasoned the liangpi and lamb skewers were. I was craving a heavy seasoned sodium bomb of a meal today so it may have impacted the decision a bit. But the light season makes the meal healthier so it may appeal to others. One thing to remember, driving in may be a bit confusing because of all the constructions. All in all, definitely check this place out for some authentic Xi'an food!

Such good food and generous portions. The biang biang noodles are incredibly delicious and there's so much of them. I finished it in two sittings and I eat a lot. My boyfriend got a dinner special which was generous in size, delicious, and reasonably priced. There's an impressive amount of food to choose from here as well. Xi'an Cuisine is definitely a new staple for the both of us. I'll be bringing my family next time.

Not ganna lie, I was very impressed with this place considering it being in Naperville. I had a nice dinner with my friend :) The layout inside is pretty spacious with awesome art on the walls. The place slowly filled with locals and their families - there were lots of kids running around. The food was really good and tasted authentic. It's fall now so soup was the way to go. I got the shrimp and pork wonton soup (small size). The small is more than enough for 1 person - waiter said the small has 10 wontons. I added chili oil for spiciness and color because this soup is naturally not spicy. Overall very delicious and I would recommend to anyone who lives in Naperville looking for authentic asian cuisine!

You know one review is fake when she says the restaurant isn't as good as 3-4 years ago. Yeah this place opened 2 years ago... this place is authentic although they do have an Americanized Chinese menu. Service like any place in Chinatown is mixed. It can be good or bad. Prices are fair. Lots of parking outside. Located across the street from Best Buy, close to Hollywood Palms. I challenge the viewers to stop picking the Americanized dishes and pick the more authentic dishes. It'll give your palate new flavor that hasn't been discovered before. -Lamb soup 5/5 -Soup noodle with beef 5/5 -Biang biang noodles 5/5 - not spicy -Lamb with cumin 5/5 - it does have some spice due to the cumin -Noodles with tomato and egg sauce 5/5 -Sweet and sour ribs 5/5

You know the food will be good at an Asian restaurant when most of the patrons are Asian! That's all we saw when tried this place for the first time... So we were optimistic upon arrival. Our server was nice but I I'm not 100% sure he understood my questions clearly enough to provide guidance on food selections. So we went with dishes we "knew". The food was good, especially the Mongolian beef. The smelt was okay, but I prefer the smaller, crispier smelt I've had at other places. The noodle dish was very good, particularly the texture of the noodles themselves. I believe the noodles are made from scratch. The sauce was tomato vs. soy sauce based. It was tasty, just different. The portions were healthy and we had leftovers for another meal. If you are in the neighborhood.... Give it a try!

This was our first time to Xi'an Cuisine. We tried several things on the menu. Lamb Skewer, Cumin Lamb Flatbread, Biang Biang Noodle and Pork in Garlic Sauce. First, the Lamb Skewer, it had good flavor but it's not very large and we ordered two to try them out. Followed by Cumin Lamb Flatbread (like a Chinese Hamburger), which was very good, the flatbread was freshly made and crunchy outside with reasonable amount of lamb inside; I think it would be great if it were stuffed with meat. Then the Biang Biang Noodles, this is their Chef's Special, the Noodles taste home-made, wide and al dente and it tasted good; the noodle portion was good but could use a little more protein. Finally, Pork in Garlic Sauce, which was our favorite, the flavor and texture were excellent and the portion was large enough to share. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will return to try other dishes.

Definitely coming back to Xian Cuisine! The Biang -biang noodles was excellent, great flavor & super soft beef. My wife had the Fish Mapo tofu which also was very flavorful. Service was attentive since we came in early ( right before 6:00pm). The ambiance was ok, good spacing of tables and the dining room was quite bright. We're coming back to try other dishes since we live close, my wife actually asked me why we never came here before.

This restaurant is great! Large menu with authentic dishes. We weren't thrilled with the Mongolian beef, but the salt and pepper shrimp and Eggplant in Garlic were excellent as were the pork potstickers (some of the best ever!). The service was good and we will definitely be back (we already have been there twice).

Service and food was not good. But Never had a chance to tell them that my wife food was wrong, since after they brought the food. Never came back to the table except to bring the check. Then being a server still gave them over 10%. But struggled with that. Only to find out they rang it at almost 20% on my credit card. Which that part I am disputed. Not going to let get me twice.

Despite living in an area of the northwest suburbs with some strong contenders for excellent Asian food, I was still quite excited to drive out close to an hour to try Xi'an Cuisine and fortunately it delivered! I was hoping for a few things on when trying this spot, which is that the food is authentic, the taste is flavorful, and that the noodles have that bouncy and slurpy texture you expect when made fresh. Fortunately this meal met all my expectations and more. When you order here, you might be a bit overwhelmed at first with unfamiliar options. In hindsight, I now realize that the specialties are all shown at the front of the restaurant, on the walls, and on the TVs as you order. I don't think you can really go wrong with ordering anything, but it would have been nice if the menu itself had some pictures to guide those unfamiliar with the cuisine with some recommendations (especially for those who can't handle a higher spice level). The portion sizes here are very generous considering the fair prices, presentation is good, and you can clearly tell that they lean towards using fresh ingredients like shallots, garlic, cilantro, chilis, etc. instead of leaning of sauces or spices to flavor the food -- which is very evident in the final product. On this trip I tried a variety of items and would gladly eat all of them again. The dry chili chicken was crisp and flavorful without being too salty. I would probably put it in the top 5 versions of this dish that I've had around Chicagoland, a bit better than Lao Sze Chuan's (less oily) and pretty comparable to nearby Mapo's version. The twice cooked pork is also very good though the meat is sliced a bit thinner than what you'd find in other versions of this dish. With that said however, the flavor is excellent and the cabbage is phenomenal, absorbing all the flavors of the meat and flavorings. My party was comprised of heavy meat eaters yet they didn't leave any cabbage remaining. The cumin beef skewers and lamb skewers are made pretty well, not the juiciest preparation that I've had but the meat was quite tender and seasoned well. It's more than enough to satisfy any Chinese BBQ craving you might have. The Dan Dan noodles were prepared to expectation with plenty of minced pork and cucumber with nice elastic noodles. If I had a redo on ordering, I probably would've tried a different noodle just because I wanted it to be intensely savory and this was actually almost a bit sweet with what seemed to be a sesame and peanut sauce. This is not to say that it isn't enjoyable, but there are so many fantastic noodle options here that I should've tried something a bit more adventurous. The soup noodle with beef is also quite good though maybe not what people who enjoy Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup are expecting. The beef is sliced quite thin (though flavorful), the noodles are sliced quite thin and long (like chow fun noodles), and the bone broth can be a bit intense with flavors of the marrow and white pepper. I definitely recommend going for the spicy version if you can handle it though, as the spices add an additional layer of complexity and umami to help you really enjoy the noodles. Overall, delicious and addictive. I can't wait to come back soon and try some more adventurous dishes to really enjoy the full variety of ingredients and flavors that Xi'an Cuisine has to offer -- while recruiting a large group of friends or family so that I can try more options.

Xi'an Cuisine is a restaurant that my husband and I had been wanting to try for some time. We went there with a few friends. When we first got there, we noticed that virtually every item on their menu is marked as spicy. They are not joking around. The dried chili chicken was too spicy for me to eat. The rest of the food was very flavorful. We also had the beef noodle soup, lamb skewer, beef skewer, dan dan noodles, and twice cooked pork. This was plenty of food for the four of us. The service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend Xi'an Cuisine, but next time, I will be more judious with what I order

Reminds me of the legendary xian famous foods in manhattan. Great food, and great customer service (which isn't the norm for places this tasty) haha

Went here a second time since my fiancé and I were around the area. This time we seat down and ate inside the restaurant. Let me tell you it was PACKED. However, we were seated right away and also got our food quickly too. We ordered the crab Rangoon, pork shrimp siomai and biang biang noodles. Honestly, you can skip out on the appetizers. The noodles were the star of the show! I'm a home cook and tried making this before but I can't get the texture right. These fresh noodles were amazing and chewy. We ordered spicy but it wasn't too spicy to be honest. Really good service despite being busy and inexpensive too. I would come here again.
