Xi’an Famous Food’s Long Island City Location Closed Indefinitely After Fire - Eater NY

"Chinese noodle chain Xi’an Famous Foods’s Long Island City location on Jackson Avenue erupted into flames on Thursday, a three-alarm fire that caused one non-life-threatening injury, according to the FDNY. Photos from the day showed that the roof suffered the bulk of the damage, its front edges partially destroyed. The fire department said it’s still investigating the cause, but Xi’an Famous Foods put out a statement saying that it didn’t originate in the restaurant’s kitchen." - Serena Dai

Xi’an Famous Foods is a go-to spot for Chinese cuisine, satisfying cravings and leaving flavorful memories. Their menu has a good balance of spice levels, making it easy for customers with different spice tolerances to find something to enjoy. Their best seller N1, the Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles, really astonished me. As someone that has low spice tolerance, their perfect mix of chili oil, chili seeds, and lamb had me ordering regular spice every time. Their N8, Spicy Hot Oil Seared Hand-Ripped Noodles, is definitely worthy of the front cover of their very own cookbook. Their burgers are also very tasty, giving a totally new experience from burgers in Western cuisine. I recommend the B1, Stewed Pork Burger, where it’s not spicy compared to the B2, Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger. The juiciness of the stewed pork in addition to the crunchy bun is a perfect combination. They also have a variety of home-made drinks, and their new sodas are definitely worth a try. If you’re nearby, make sure to check it out!

Stopped by Xi’an Famous Foods at Court Square (LIC) and it absolutely hit the spot. I ordered the spicy and sour lamb dumplings and the spicy cumin lamb hand-ripped noodles in soup which both were incredibly flavorful and satisfying. I went with the normal spice level, which had a great kick without overwhelming the flavors or burning my tastebuds. To cool things down, I paired it with a cold chrysanthemum tea, which was refreshing and balanced out the heat perfectly. This location does have limited seating, especially since the second floor is always closed off, so it’s best to come at off-peak times or be prepared for takeout. Service is solid, and they have a self-service kiosk, which makes ordering quick and easy. If you’re in LIC and craving bold, spicy, and comforting food, Xi’an Famous Foods is a must-visit.

Liang pi is alway on point!! I love coming back to xi’ans everytime I visit the states. I got this to go and I was impressed how far this chain has come. Back in the day, they had the sauces in homemade plastic baggies and now they have it all officially packaged!! The liang pi is still delicious- bouncy noodles and the sauce is epic. I’m glad the quality of the food hasn’t gone down since the OG location in flushing.

A dependable, high-quality, and delectable! XFF is my favorite Chinese restaurant chain in the entire city. Their lamb is always well seasoned and noodles are always just chewy enough. One thing I’ve noticed over the past 3 years, however, is that the “extra spicy” is no longer “extra spicy.” I feel that they have somewhat downgraded on how truly spicy the “extra spicy” is, which is a bummer. But still, it tastes amazing. I wish they’d bring an “extra extra spicy” version now, though, haha.

great flavor. reasonable prices. terrible spoon to have soup with. also, playing music at same time video of founder is explaining (sound on) how the noodles are made is cacophonous.

Xian Famous Foods is delicious and authentic Chinese food. This is not General Tso’s chicken or anything like that. They know what they’re good at and they stick to it. It’s also spicy so be prepared. They do have less spicy options but they want to keep it authentic for the diners. We got the Lamb burger, the Lamb noodles, and the Lamb dumplings. Everything was delicious! We got everything for around $30 and it came out so quickly. At first I was wondering if it would be Lamb overkill but not at all! Everything was so delicious and different. We are definitely going to go back and recommend it if you haven’t tried it.
