This unassuming counter serves up mouthwatering Xi’an-style dishes like spicy cumin lamb noodles and generous dumplings, perfect for a quick bite or takeout.
# Overall:
I'll be back at Xi'an to try more items from their menu. If you're not sure about spicy food, I recommend checking out their burgers.
# Ambiance
This Xi'an's famous foods is one of the smaller franchises that I've visited. There's not too much seating, but it is pretty convenient to order takeout from. There's a self serve kiosk and an area for you to grab your utensils of choice.

Spicy & Tingly Beef Muscle Hand-Ripped Noodles
The noodles are the main attraction in the dish. I've had the cumin lamb version before and I prefer that over the beef muscle. The cut of beef here just ends up a little more tough than I'd like to chew. You just can't go wrong with a spicy sauce on some noodles though.
Stewed Pork Burger
The burger is a great order in its own right. The bun is very dense, but it pairs very nicely with the meat, giving almost and extra level of sweetness to the bite, contrasting with the richness and the saltiness of the pork meat. This burger isn't spicy, but is still a great order whether or not you can handle spice.

This was my top food pick during my short NY trip. I ordered the spicy cumin lamb hand-ripped noodles and spicy Asian cucumber salad. The portions were generous, and after just one bite, I could tell they really know what they’re doing. The food was so good, with just the right amount of spice and saltiness. I only wish I had this place near where I live

Hidden Gem in plain sight!!!!!
It’s easy to pass by this place without noticing it, due to the number of other small restaurants flanking it on either side when suddenly you realize that it’s that ‘famous Western Chinese’ restaurant that has locations popping up all over the city. And famous for several good reasons, the biggest being the delicious food with their signature famous spicy cumin sauce. Once inside you see two huge screens above featuring their menu. They have an array of popular dishes from lamb to beef noodles and a soup version of those dishes too. Spinach dumplings are very popular as is the lamb burger.
This particular location is pretty much a hole in the wall that fills up very quickly and seats are taken just as fast but don’t let that fool you. Customers are VERY CONSIDERATE and usually for the most part are in and out just as fast as they came in. So by the time your order is ready, a seat is usually vacant ….just for you. Prices are VERY REASONABLE, and portions are generous. You will be very glad you came here and the service from the staff is excellent, even amazing if I may add.

Their signature lamb flat noodles are worth the hype. This type of cuisine is unrivaled compared to other parts of the US. Next time, I’ll have to save my appetite to eat more items or take it to-go. There’s only 6 seats at this location. I came right before it got busy with a friend and 2 seats opened up. We ate quickly to be courteous for the line that was beginning to form. Wipe and clean the countertop yourself

Sooo yummy as always! I recommend N4 or the minced beef. Pork burger also good. The seating is really not good though, but not their fault. Only like five seats available. Rotate pretty quickly tho!

Xi’an Famous Foods is a must-visit if you’re craving bold and flavorful Northwestern Chinese street food. I tried the spicy cumin lamb burger, and it did not disappoint. The lamb was tender, well-seasoned with fragrant cumin, and packed with a delicious umami kick. The spice level was just right—not overpowering, but enough to enhance the flavors.
The portion size was generous, making it a satisfying and filling meal, especially considering the reasonable price. It’s a great spot for a quick bite or a casual lunch, as the service is fast and efficient. If you’re a fan of rich, aromatic flavors with a bit of heat, this is definitely worth trying!

I dream about Xi’an’s all the time. One time I cried leaving New York City because I would have to wait X amount of time before eating Xi’ans again. You NYCers don’t know how lucky you are
This xi’ans location is super quick. There is only 5 seats available though so take it to go and eat it in union square park
