Xing Fu Tang

We ordered the brown sugar milk tea. It indicates the sweet and ice level both cannot be adjusted. Only the brown sugar pearl has sugar and not in the tea and milk. As they made the pearl fresh and they are still warm, the fixed ice level is required to bring the hot pearl to a cold drink. As the pearl is quite hot, it really needed that standard level of ice to bring the drink to a cold drink. It’s not cold cold - if you want it really cold you might need to ask if they can put extra ice in it.

I tried the Brown Sugar Boba Milk, and it’s definitely a treat! It might look super sweet, but once you take a sip, the milk and brown sugar blend perfectly for a great balance of flavors. Highly recommend giving it a try! There was no queue even though I went on a weekend so I got my drink quickly.

The best boba I’ve ever tried. No wonder it’s so popular in Taiwan. The handmade boba pearls were perfectly chewy. You also have the option to upgrade to a no-ice drink. Ordered their best seller Brown Sugar Boba Milk no ice.

I tried the most popular one with sweet boba. The wait was quite long as they only make them in batch but the wait was worth it. One of the best bobas I had on the trip.

I like their tea especially the boba. The queue can be long but the serving is really fast. One of the things I will miss about Taiwan is the efficiency of serving short orders and teas for sure.

The drinks here are sweet, and the boba is delicious. The shop is easy to find when visiting Jiufen. However, one downside for me is that the shop is quite small, though this seems to be common for most shops in Jiufen.

At the beginning of Juifen Old Street, you'll spot Xing Fu Tang right away. This is a popular boba shop in Taiwan, so I had to try it when I saw it. The boba is homemade and you can see it in the window. The space is also super clean and simple. I got the classic Brown Sugar Milk Tea and I love the creme brulee topping on this. It's a nice tea aroma with warm chewy boba balls.

Visited: May 22 2019 At the entrance/exit of the vibrant Jioufen old street, we saw people sipping Xing Fu Tang's bubble teas and immediately we were excited. We loved their brown sugar concoctions back in Vancouver and we knew we had to try it authentically in Taiwan. We walked our way down to the very end of the old street (overlooking the ocean) and made a left turn and the store is on the left. We ordered the brown sugar milk tea and it cost us NTD $40 per cup (less than $2 CAD) and our mind was just blown. Back home in Vancouver, it cost about $5.75 CAD which equals to $136 NTD. That's just insane. I loved the roastiness of the pearls (nice and chewy) and how intense the brown sugar tasted. The milk tea was almost an afterthought because the pearls were really the stars of the drink. Xing Fu Tang ranks as one of the top 3 on my brown sugar bubble tea joints!

I tried a brown sugar milk tea from the Xing Fu Tang in Ximendeng, and it was pretty outstanding. But the grapefruit green tea I had at the Xing Fu Tang in Jiufen was EVEN BETTER. It wasn't bitter like some grapefruit drinks can be, but it wasn't too sweet either. It had bits of pulp (but not an annoying amount) and it tasted super-fresh. Even without boba pearls, this drink was something to remember. The location -- at the end of the long street in Jiufen, overlooking the lush green mountains -- is a huge plus. You couldn't ask for a more picturesque spot to enjoy a refreshing beverage.
