Xisan De Classic - Review - Brooklyn Heights - New York - The Infatuation

"Xisan De Classic is a Thai spot in Brooklyn Heights that focuses on Northeastern Isan cooking. They’ve got all the classics—ping yang skewers, som tum salads, and crying tiger. They’re also selling two boxes—one with crying tiger, and one with fried chicken—served with sticky rice and som tum for $25. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

This is such a gem in Brooklyn Heights. I would say it’s the best Thai food I had in this and nearby neighborhood. Super friendly, humble staff. Ingredient is so fresh, and their Thai tea ice cream is chef’s kiss! They definitely spent sometime thinking about the deco and theme of the place. Perfect spot for a date.

Absolutely magnificent! Shout out to the staff who are exemplary. The red snapper was perfection. Great choices of wine and they will bring samples to assist your choice. Love the decor every detail if truly enhancing. My favorite was when the chef brought our main course to the table. This restaurant is wondering so many ways. The service, ambiance, and quality of food is sublime. Will definitely be back.

Incredibly delicious Thai food! And I’ve spent 6 weeks in Thailand, I assure you this is very authentic!! The papaya salad tastes just like in Thailand, every dish is excellent — their curries are especially good 10/10 it’s a must try and one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve had in NY and all of US actually

This is my second time here ‘cause the food was delicious & the staff was so sweet! The atmosphere is chic but still felt right at home! The best was the grilled brazino fish with the mango salad garnishing! 💖 We had complimentary shrimp fried dumplings, beef pad see yew noodles, chicken satay skewers, and pork belly skewers. They were so devine! I finished everything off with a refreshing yuzu citrus sorbet. Absolute perfect dinner! They just opened last Sunday (3/23)! So it was amazing getting supreme treatment 🤗 so come thru before they get super popular. I’m looking forward to their cocktail menu soon as they’re ready in May👀✌🏼 Love a good dinner with a cocktail apéritif! I’ve been trying to find a restaurant that hits both my weekend and weekday evenings.. and it’s come to the neighborhood!

Another Thai spot on Montague, but Xisan Classic might just be my favorite. The satay skewers were a standout—perfectly grilled and served with a creamy, spicy sauce that hit all the right notes. We went for the lunch specials and weren’t disappointed. The recommended Phat Kra Pao packed bold flavor, and the Kai Yang chicken with sticky rice was tender and satisfying. A solid 8.3—definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.

Delicious! Really unique, exotic regional Thai that’s so flavorful and memorable. Can’t wait to come back. Loved the nourishing pad ginger chicken and the crispy yet fluffy shrimp pancake with fried/crispy salmon. The pancake is especially a standout, unlike anything I’ve had before, sweet like a breakfast pancake yet tangy and savory and crispy. Big place with tons of seating for couples and groups. Coming back for their noodle dishes, skewers, and more. Shoutout to our waiter Chanikan who was so sweet and helpful - she had the best recommendations. 5 stars!!!!

Google
My new favorite restaurant in Brooklyn heights and would say it’s one of the best Thai restaurants in the city. The skewers were so good and are a must try. Enjoyed the branzino and crying tiger. The fried rice and pad kee mao were incredible too.

Yelp
At first I thought it was Chinese restaurant but it's Thai restaurant. Papaya salad and grilled pork are very good. Excellent service, highly recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely, hands-down, the best Thai food I have ever eaten in my life. I travel a lot, and I eat Thai food wherever I go. The food tasted amazing, everyone was friendly and very professional, such a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. I had the chicken skewer to start, with a Yuzu margarita. And then I had the penne with slow cooked beef, short rib. ! I had to take a to go box because I could not possibly finish it all!

Yelp
Lovely dinner here with friends. As I've come to learn, Xisan specializes in Northeastern Isan cuisine. A nice experience to taste less common Thai dishes versus the ones that are popular in nyc. Although, the menu does have the classics as well. Service was friendly and prompt. The chef came out and served a few of the dishes and he was so smiley and jovial. That was nice to see. The interiors are cute and feel like you're eating in a South Eastern Asia marketplace which is a treat. These things really added to the overall positive experience. Got a few items to share family style and happy with each dish. Everything was flavorful, stand out for me was the red snapper. I did feel the sweet and sour sauce was quite plentiful but I liked that the fish was not covered in it so that you could add to your taste. Was too full for dessert this time, but I'd come back for the black sesame ice cream I peeped on the menu.

Yelp
We got seated by the window on a nice summer day, with shade and breeze. The waiters were very attentive and kind, making sure we got everything we needed. We ordered the Moo Ping (grilled pork on skewers), Red Snapper, and Beef Noodle Soup. The portions were huge and we definitely couldn't finish as two. The Moo Ping and Beef Boat Noodle Soup were deep in flavor, but my favorite was definitely the Red Snapper. It was perfectly fried with a thin layer of crust on the outside and tender fish on the inside. I would recommend this place. There are other things on the menu I would come back for!

Yelp
We had a spontaneous lunch here which was a blessing because we were looking for our go to Thai take out place in the neighborhood. The lunch menu was a good deal with an app and an entree. We shared shrimp dumplings and rolls. The rad na noodles were unique and reminded me of a Chinese dish actually and the pad se ew was perfect with the right amount of white pepper powder. We were happy with our lunch here that we ordered food to take out a few weeks later which included the curry puffs, pad Thai and pad se ew. We will definitely try the skewers next time and this will likely remain our go to take out Thai place in Bk heights!

Yelp
The service was constant -- I felt like there was someone watching our table at all times. If our water was low, it got topped off immediately. Yet, it was way too much. The restaurant sit below a martial arts place and it sounded like people were constantly falling to the floor in loud bangs, and it made it hard to focus on eating. The appetizers -- cremini mushrooms and shishito peppers were literally just a tasting and way overpriced. The beef soup my husband said was tasty but it was pricey for what it was and my glass noodles dish was extraordinarily spicy -- my fault for not asking about how relatively spicy it was -- but it made it hard to finish. Others may appreciate this place, but it wasn't for me.

Yelp
My friend had surgery and is having difficulty getting around. So, he ordered lunch which I picked up. Xisan De Classic opened a few weeks ago. The decor is modern with some definite Thai touches. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I had the Crispy Pork lunch entree. It was delicious with just right seasoning Looking forward to returning when my friend is more mobile.

Yelp
Excellent addition to the neighborhood. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, but I think this will be our new go-to for delivery now. Everything was really delicious, not too spicy, not too sweet.

Yelp
Had the best Kana Moo Gob for lunch, so good. Wait staff was nice, they charged my cell phone for me while we ate.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance were all great! My partner and I saw that it was a new spot in our neighborhood so we popped in for happy hour. We got shrimp pork gyoza and duck roti. For drinks we got Pinot Grigio and beer on draft. Everything was tasty, but we really liked the service!

Kevin H.

Yelp
They recently opened and my wife and I came in to try it out. We had some of the skewers and a few drinks. The food and sauces were delicious, the ambiance was great, and the staff was all really friendly. Will definitely recommend and we'll be back.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and comfortable setting. Xisan brings Thai spice to Montague street with charm and bold flavors. I am looking forward to trying the bulk of the menu. We started with skewers and had the two dinner specials consisting of generous salmon and and flavorful branzino. Quite Enjoyable!

Yelp
Loved everything at this place from the food to the ambiance and service. We came in for a quick bite to eat and happy hour and ended up staying and ordering several skewers that were super flavorful ( had pork, chicken skin, and sticky rice) that paired perfectly with Chang beer. Great addition to the neighborhood. Will be back often !

Yelp
Very good food and even better service! I would definitely recommend this place! Chicken satay was my favorite.
