This establishment offers a truly delightful dining experience. The carnitas burrito is a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The staff's friendly demeanor creates a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. It's a place worth visiting again and again.

I met my cousin here for lunch. It was so delicious. We all ordered the same thing. 1 chicken enchilada with rice and beans. They served them with home made tortillas. The gravy sauce was so good too.

Google
Exceptional service and wonderful food. I surprised my mom with a bday brunch here recently and the ladies were so wonderful and attentive and sweet and the food has been wonderful throughout MANY years of coming here

No wait during a weekday lunchtime. Good food, decent atmosphere, great service. We shared the chicken nachos (sans beans) and were so caught up in our meal that we forgot to snap a pic before diving in!

Google
not authentic Mexican food.. The prices are average to high. You eat a meal at a restaurant, & end up spending at least $12- 13. Poor customer service. She started to clean with pine sol while we were still dining in. The restaurant closes at 9 p.m., so, there was a lot of remaining time.

I’ve been coming here for decades. Love the chicken enchiladas… and we always get the gravy and cheese dip, always hits the spot.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. Downtown sketchy neighborhood esp at night. I've been coming here for many years. Food quality does fluctuate.

Dave F.

Yelp
It's been a minute since I've been in. Lunch for me and my San. Salsa, a bit watery but tangy. Our lunches, he a Chimichanga, Me, a Chile Colorado. Fat chimi, good sides. My Colorado, still great tho disappointed it is only offered as a full entree and not on the lunch menu. 2 people killed a 50 with tip.

Natalie H.

Yelp
The worst experience ever! The food is not the same as before! I had invited my family to dine in to the restaurant today because I have not been in there in a while and I remember the food was delicious once upon a time. I was so embarrassed with my family because the food was not good at all, the chile verde and Colorado was so hard it was so hard to chew! not to mentioned the Tortillas were disgusting. They had the texture of a pita bread!!!! I don't know if they switch owners but the food was not good at all! The server was also very rude as she was taking our orders. and it took forever for our refills. I will NEVER go to this place again, not even if the food was free! I was so disappointed with this place!

Veronica H.

Yelp
We come here all the time it's our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Had dinner with the family and everything was so good! Service isn't always the best even though it's slow and several waitresses are working, but the food is amazing.

Lupe M.

Yelp
Still my favorite. I feel like it's not as good as when the original owners had it but it still measures up. My kids love the child plate and we love the homemade flour tortillas and the gravy and cheese dip. We love the tortilla chips and on occasion finding a fried flour one. What a treat!!

Ruby V.

Yelp
Came here from out of town and was looking for a place to pick up some enchiladas and a burrito. The beans were dry and the cheese in the enchiladas was not melted enough. The horchata was good and the homemade flour tortillas were not bad. The place is small inside and didn't look that orderly, however, there was this one young lady that was totally nice and helpful. Kudos to her for her outstanding service.

Katie G.

Yelp
We have been coming here since I was a child. While the decor may have slightly changed the food is always how I remember it. Love this place and their homemade flour tortillas are delicious!

Melina M.

Yelp
Best Mexican food of my life. Moved to San Jose and still can't find Mexican food that can compete

Lenel B.

Yelp
Supposed to be traditional Mex, but really it's traditionaly watered down, stretched Mex food I may not be Mex but my whole team is straight from Mex and 2 from Cuba and they went be like ,,ummmmm...no but In my financial tone... It's close and affordable and you get what you pay for.

Janis A.

Yelp
Recommend the chicken tacos. I love them, but coming to this place for years good food, and good service.

Justina P.

Yelp
Great food and good sized portions! Servers are also courteous and kind I come here any chance I get !

Jeri F.

Yelp
I love the beef tacos at this place. They're crunchy and always delicious. The staff was very good too.

Salvador M.

Yelp
The food is no good It lost its flavor Service was great. My only complaint is the food.

S R.

Yelp
5 stars for good food, large portions, and no persons on staff having a bad attitude. Stockton has a lot of disgruntled people for what ever reason but this place is enjoyable to be at. The beer is cold too.

Mike A.

Yelp
28 years ago - that's how long it's been from the last time my wife and I ate here Food = 3 stars ; food was warm / hot, wife had chorizo and eggs and I had Chile Colorado. Tortillas were home made. The food laced flavor in our opinion. Service = 5 stars ; service was on point, nice people that smiled. Food was serviced at same time and she came back and checked on us several times. Ambiance = 4 stars; this is a place where you come for the food and not the decor. It has not change much from 28 years - granted I am sure there was some sprucing up over the years, but not much changed that I could tell. It's one of the oldest restaurant in Stockton - wife and I would not go out of our way to eat here, but we were in the area on business and decided to give it a try again - it was a bit lacking in flavor fir my taste, but many people love the food.

Yelp
This has always been my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Been coming here for decades. It had been a while probably a year or two since we visited, but we came for dinner last weekend. And I was sad!! The food was disappointing! Still very large portions which I love. But I ordered chicken quesadilla, and the chicken was inedible it was so rubbery it would not have been safe to try and eat it without choking on it. The tortillas had a very odd texture like they were missing an ingredient or had too much of an ingredient. The rice was chewy, like maybe it not been cooked long enough? And then the chips were stale. My husband and I spoke about it afterwards. I don't think either one of us wanted to bring it up like I said we were just sad. So I'm hoping that this was a one-time thing and they were just having a bad night. The restaurant was very full and busy which is good for them. But I just don't know what happened with our food. Will probably go back again and hope that was just a one-time thing.

Brad C.

Yelp
This is authentic Mexican food. I've been eating here for decades. If your on a diet this is probably not the food to eat.

R N.

Yelp
Well it's been awhile since I ate here. Brought the family for lunch and we ordered chicken enchilada plate, beef enchilada plate and Chile realno plate. Everybody enjoyed the food and of course the homemade tortillas

Patrick F.

Yelp
One can't say that they've had Mexican food in Stockton without being here. It's absolutely fire! Can't say enough good things about this place. You will not be disappointed.

Brenda S.

Yelp
Great friendly and attentive service! Food was so goooood!! They have history there since 1964. Learning this warmed my heart. Husband and I had the chili verde dinner! So tasty and delicious! Will be back when in the area. Totally recommend!

Willis M.

Yelp
Appears to be a little hole in the wall but it is authentic. Service and food was great. Prices even better. Waitress was nice and they were constantly checking that everything was OK. Will definitely be back and the Yelp tribe did great recommending this place.

Dave S.

Yelp
The people here are great, very friendly and attentive. The food is always excellent. We particularly love the guacamole tostadas. The homemade flour tortillas are like pie crust, so fresh. It's been around forever and there is a good reason it has survived and thrived... it's excellent!

Rachel V.

Yelp
The ambiance is fabulously kitschy and the place has a homey, family-run vibe. Amanda, our very nice and patient waitress, helped us figure out the vegetarian options (tip: there were very few, but we managed just fine). The food was plentiful, and the location is convenient--right off the 99. Unassuming restaurant from the street but a pleasant surprise.

Lisa A.

Yelp
I ordered two beef tacos to go and they were absolutely delicious. They were the most delicious tacos I've ever had. I will definitely be back.

Alinda C.

Yelp
Went to try their beef taco lunch special and the gravy and cheese dip today and was not disappointed. When I'm in Stockton I will definitely be going back. The food was excellent!

Lawrence L.

Yelp
The food is exceptional. Service is prompt and friendly. Wonderful experience. Closed on Tuesdays and like every other restaurant in Stockton, they close early.

Silvia L.

Yelp
Great food and great service! Love it and will go back for sure! I love the tacos and the burritos!

Kobe T.

Yelp
This place never disappoints!! The Chile Verde/Colorado combo plate is da best!! It probably has 1.5 lbs of meat on there and is so good. The Chile verde has a little kick to it and love it over rice. You can tell this is authentic cuz they serve it w sliced lettuce and home made flour tortillas. The people are always nice there. I try to stop by a few times a year on my way up to Sac and always walk out satisfied. Pls don't ever change.

Sophia R.

Yelp
this is my favorite place to eat at. Always has good customer service and very tasty food large quantities for the right price. cozy little hole in the wall.

Miss T.

Yelp
I ordered a wet burrito and it was a fatty and tastes so good. I will probably do just rice meat cheese next time it's a go to for me. Our server was super sweet and gave me the extra flour tortilla chips with the bomb ass salsa . Restaurant was clean with the authentic feel lots of tables filled up with family during dinner and the tv had a cute family show with a talent type show of a Selena song and dance ...loved it!! Totally recommend the chicken soup too...I ordered that the first time I went there.

Brian G.

Yelp
I grew up in Stockton and lived all over the Central Valley. Amazing food and incredible staff. Don't let the location scare you. It's great to have dinner before an event at the Bob Hope Theater.

Donna M.

Yelp
Wonderful food!!! Order an extra cup of gravy, delicious!!! The staff is friendly and attentive.

Michelle V.

Yelp
Good service! Thanks Martha!! Good food Good portions Good prices Handmade tortillas!! Took some to go! Ice cold drinks $61.00 - Party of three food and drinks

William B.

Yelp
Best Mexican food on the west coast. Nothing can compare. Food is not "hot" but has the best flavors ever.

Tami T.

Yelp
Had to go to the courthouse and we wanted authentic Mexican food stop by Oxchimilco Cafe. I have to say it was the most disgusting good I have tried to eat. I ordered a beef taco, chili relleno, rice and beans. Everything on my plate was not made that day. Rice old, beans at least two days old, chili relleno old mostly egg that absorbed an extreme amount of oil then covered up with chicken juice (maybe soup juice) the taco dipped in oil would not even stay bent as a taco shell the meat by far had to be the most horrible week old ready be tossed in the garage meat. Took one bite and wanted to throw up. I would next recommend this place in a million years to anyone but restaurant makeovers it was disgusting. Sorry no picture I just wanted to get out as soon as possible....

Yelp
3/13/2020 - I just left this place three hours ago and I am really disappointed. This was my first meal of the day and it was sad!!! I ordered the enchilada plate, one chicken & one beef. It came with rice & salad. The chicken enchilada had a small bone in it, and they did not leave anything around from that chicken, white or dark meat, bones and all!!! Neither enchilada had any taste; no seasoning whatsoever, not even a tiny-weeny pinch of salt!! The salad was lettuce & tomato (1) half slice, no dressing. We were also given chips and salsa which I did enjoy. No salt on chips, but since I ordered food to go, I put salt on the chips when I got home. Putting salt and seasoning on the enchiladas at home defeated the purpose. If I wanted to work, I would have made my own. One thing is fact: I will not be back!!! They got the customer ahead of me order wrong, and there was no one in there

Ron Stephanie J.

Yelp
I used to love this place until I found a piece of metal in my food. The kind you use for the dishes scrubbing pots and pans. When we told them they acted as if I put it there in order to get a free meal. PLEASE! We had money to pay the bill and we were not asking for a free meal. WE paid OUR BILL and left. I would have settled for a little kindness and a sincere apology, instead, we were treated like we were the ones who did something wrong. We will not be eating there again. I could say more but I will leave it at that.

Yelp
Xochimilco Cafe in Stockton, California is inspired by a neighborhood in southern Mexico City filled with working class folks. The food is hearty, filling, and simple but so so flavorful. This order includes steak ranchero, beef taco, and cheese enchilada. The steak was soooo tender and flavorful in the gravy. The taco is in my top 5 tacos I have ever eaten in my life. It's crispy, juicy and the meat is tender and charred creating a savory, cheesy, and slighty spicy bomb combined with the texture variances...wow. Cheese Enchilada is savory and gooey, pretty standard but not boring by any means. This meal went great with a Cerveza. So happy! This food isn't refined, it is good, simple hard working people food and worth the drive to visit the valley town. Many Mexican and Latina owned establishments are not able to generate an income that allows them to stay in business during these times. It was important for my family to swing by and support one of our favorite little "hole in the wall" spots in Stockton, California. Now if you read the these Yelp reviews you will see many complaints from your basic folks who nit pick and are better served at a local Chevy's or Applebee's. Ignore these reviews, and enjoy the excellent amd attentive service and hearty and filling food from this family owned establishment. Support Small Businesses now more than ever. Thank you always fpr yummy food and good service.

Bob E.

Yelp
I've been dining here for over 55 years and the food never changed and has been the most authentic Mexican food food around. It is so excellent.

Steven M.

Yelp
Visited this morning placed an order for JUST chorizo and eggs and a side of corn tortillas //I was charged 16.70 and then was told it also came with rice and beans even if it did come with rice/beans who gouges prices like that ..So If you visit this establishment and place an order make sure they clarify prices and items! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!

Falisha R.

Yelp
The food is really tasty and the staff is friendly, I came to this place for years and it used to be described as "a hole in the wall" hidden gem type of place. It's in downtown Stockton so of course the area is not so great and it hard to find parking sometimes but like I said the food has always been good. UNFORTUNATELY THEY HAVE ROACHES NOW!! and I'm not talking about seeing 1 in a corner. Like huge gigantic ones crawling on the walls. It makes me cringe thinking about eating the food that's so unsanitary. I'm hoping they could call pest control and get it back up to sanitary conditions or at least switch locations. So unfortunate because this used to be my favorite place to eat in Stockton.

Robert O.

Yelp
Great Tex Mex. Homemade flour tortillas. I love old time family restaurants, and this one is it!

Jeff W.

Yelp
I've had Xochimilco twice by now, and after the second time I realized why I'm not a big fan. Before I start, this location is well known amongst locals because I've always seen people like workers inside during lunch. Their portion sizes are also quite huge for the price being paid. Both times I ordered the xochimilco lunch special, chicken burrito once and chimichanga the other. It felt like there was a lack of flavor. The salsa and chips were probably the most exciting part of the dish. The salsa tasted fresh and had a great balance of ingredients within it. Unless if you are a big fan of stew or watery style meat, the meat just doesn't taste that great. At casa flores, all of the same meats are grilled and work perfectly in burritos. Service isn't bad here. I would still recommend anyone who's a fan of Mexican food to give this local hot spot a try. If you are a fan of that style of meat, then good. If not, the nearby Casa Flores is awesome and worth it for the price.

Penny W.

Yelp
Just happened to find this place when going to the Bob Hope Theatre. It's just around the corner. I've been back a few times more and I have always been satisfied and I always need a box. Don't let the facade or location after dark scare you off.

Mar G.

Yelp
I been going here for many years and never has this happened...Today I went to buy food, and find that there is rat droppings in my beans. I am beyond disgusted. I called to let them know and all they said was thank you for letting us know.

Alexandra S.

Yelp
The gravy is so creamy and cheesy! The food and proportions are great for the price. Tortillas could be warmer and fresher but they're still good. A staple of Stockton, Ca restaurants.

Martha V.

Yelp
Have eaten there since they were founded in the 1960's. My family's favorite Mexican food anywhere in the US. Particularly like the tamales. Big chunks of oven cooked beef. Great sauce. Enjoy!

M H.

Yelp
I placed a togo order ...second time being beyond wrong and messed up and Ice cold...3 weeks prior went inside ...totally wrong order and Ice cold ... poor service with being the only people in the building in the house besides one other couple....I called to say why is this a recurrence after coming here for 20+ years .. Asked to speak to Manager which was nothing short or a regular rude. Rushy, disrespectful waitress..cutting me off yelling at me hangup and all... saddest to say food has gone to shit and service after the main owners and people that ran it are no longer around so I'm sad to have to say goodbye to one of the bestost favorotite places I've ever been able to go to away felt like home food... good luck and hope you put together a hiring event because what's there is dragging you down a unprofessional hole!

Valeria P.

Yelp
4 stars for the service and the kindness of the ladies who work here. Only thing is some of the food was salty so be careful if you don't like to much salt in your food. I would recommend the chicken tacos or the enchiladas. They also give you enough food to feed a small army. Had plenty of leftovers.
