103 Restaurants Shine In The Inaugural Edition Of The MICHELIN Guide Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, Including 4 MICHELIN Stars

"Determined to shatter the stereotype of xôi (steamed sticky rice) as a frugal fast food, a young team opened this charming little eatery in 2021 with a contemporary design and great attention to detail. They put their recipe for relatively soft sticky rice into dishes such as xôi phá lấu trứng non, which includes quail eggs, pig ears and fried shallots, and is served with soup and kimchi as a simple, appetising meal." - The MICHELIN Guide

Xôi Bát

"Xôi – steamed sticky rice – is a Vietnamese staple popularly eaten as a quick breakfast or lunch. Determined to shatter the stereotype of xôi as a frugal fast food, in 2021 a young team opened Xôi Bát, a charming little eatery with a contemporary design and great attention paid to detail. They put their recipe for a relatively soft sticky rice into dishes such as xôi phá lấu trứng non, which includes quail eggs, pig ears and fried shallots, and is served with soup and kimchi as a simple, appetising meal." - Michelin Inspector

A small venue with a Michelin bib gourmand for xoi. The rice was a little fragrant and the toppings nice, quite tasty, the marinated stewed pork belly was lovely. The soup and pickled veggies were a welcome addition. A nice, modern take on xoi for a reasonable price.

FOOD & DRINKS They only serve their signature dish but that is fine. I tried the recommend sticky rice with most of the toppings. It also came with a very light soup and some Vietnamese kimchi. Taste and quality was pretty good. SERVICE Very friendly and nice. ATMOSPHERE Unfortunately it hasn't the large seating area outside anymore as it moved to a little store next to its original location. It's small but cute. RATING Food was good, service was very friendly. Recommended.

They said it is Michelins suggested restaurant, so I went to check it out. As far as the food, it’s alright, nothing special… typical sticky rice with different kind of topping like meat balls, stewed pork, egg, etc. They have like a bowl of soup and a pickle veggie plate as a side dish as well. But the portion is abnormally big (which explains for the price, which is more expensive than expected for sticky rice in Vietnam). The sticky rice itself is moist, but doesn’t give off any aroma. While the topping (I got the stewed pork) was too much, with too much fat. This place is quite small, can fit only 4 tables. However, I guess it’s okay as it was empty when we get there on a Saturday night, at around 7pm. The place also don’t have a security guard in the front, so you basically park at your own risk as well. And to me, I am not impressed with the setting of this place… I guess it’s just personal references.

What an amazing dining experience i had at this place! Space: love their decor and interior, felt homely and warm yet very traditionally Vietnamese. The store is an open spaced eatery with all tables exposed to the main road (fret not because the road is not packed and noisy most of the time, i came by during rush hour and it was good). Comfy seats and tables. Good lighting for photography. There's no air con here but the fans did wonderful. Music choice was good, not lousy and suited the ambience. Food: well seasoned, well balanced, hearty bowl of sticky rice with full of toppings. The price is higher than the normal sticky rice stall or kiosk but ofc this should be expected for an eatery. Still, very affordable and acceptable to me. I ordered a shredded chicken char siu bowl and a pig offals slow cooked in herbs and braised eggs. They both came out with lots of topping, paired with pate, lots of garnish. The drinks were surprisingly good, and i didn't expect that at all. Staffs: very polite, helpful and kind. Always smiling. Thoigh at times could be distracted but i don't mind, they seemed to have a long day already. Absolutely coming to try out other menus of theirs. I visited around 4pm and i was the only customer. Seemed like they mostly sell via delivery service. Food came out pretty fast and toilet was cleaned.

The xoi (stick rice) was good - and somewhat an upgrade to the xoi available on the streets (both in quality - and price). I'm not sure why they made the Michelin list because the place had no people (we were the only ones there at 11AM on a weekday). Locals probably likely have a good reason not to go here. :) PRO TIP: The place is quite small - with only a few tables. Not ideal for large groups.

Nice little humble place on the Michelin's guide list for Saigon. Does not have english menu yet. But the young gentleman was kind enough to assist us during our time there, showing us the available options by the food window as well. Portions looks small, but do note that they are sticky rice and will end up filling you up more that you would initially expect. Will be back!

Get the xôi bát and you’re set. Delicious and quite affordable for a Michelin-starred establishment. The Limeade with lemongrass was also quite refreshing.

This is a cute restaurant that serves a variety of traditional southern Vietnamese cuisine, specializng in sticky rice and meats. We tried the Paella sticky rice which consists of char xiu pork, organ meat, shredded chicken and caramelized eggs. And I also had the sticky rice with poached meat and some Vietnamese stew with organ meats and everything was excellent. Their staff is very sweet and the service is prompt and very good. Highly recommended!
