I had a great surprise when I entered the restaurant. It had a very festive vibe. I didn't: no it was Karaoke night. The patrons were up singing their favorite Karaoke songs. It was all night happy hour. 5 street tacos for eleven dollars and a bear. The service was exceptional ordered fries no ketchup which was the only thing missing. Plenty of outdoor dining parking when weather permits. I was pleasantly pleased with this neighborhood restaurant.

My wife and I went here on our anniversary and the food was super delicious! It did not disappoint, JJ the owner came out and introduced him self to us and what a great guy! And Sarah was great with helping us order. Thanks for the great experience! We are definitely going back many more times!!

Google
Disappointed! We went after seeing the restaurant profiled on Check Please. We waited to be seated for several minutes. Maybe they didn’t have enough help, I don’t know. The owner was carrying out food plates, it seems he could have taken a moment to at least say someone will be right with you. But no, we stood there awkwardly. Finally someone seated us at a table that had broken tortilla chips on the floor that had not been swept up. The waitress brought us two waters and we asked for an appetizer. She said I’ll put that in for you but I don’t know if I’ll be your server…um ok. As we waited I found something floating in my water glass, again we had to wait for the server to come by and ask for a clean glass. It was really confusing as to why we were seated in a section that was obviously being waited on by another server while we were being ignored. By this I mean a table of 3 and we were in the middle…it was going downhill from the minute we walked in. The appetizer was late coming out, the food we ordered especially the Enchiladas had very little Barbacoa meet inside, and the tortillas were mushy and hard to even cut. Like What? Very disappointing and probably hard to go back for a second visit.

The drinks were unique and gorgeous! I had a mimosa with a paleta on top. Beautiful presentation. The staff was also very kind and helpful

There is no reason why this restaurant should be any less than all 5 stars. The food is very unique & not the same, typical Mexican food that you get at every other place. It takes Mexican food to an elevated level - and amazing! The sauces, flavor, and spice are the best that I've tried- and that's saying a lot when Mexican is my fave kind of food! The staff becomes your friends, the atmosphere is fun & relaxing! Drinks, food, & service are all awesome!

I was in the area for a doctor's appointment and just googled Mexican food. It was the closest place and had very good reviews. I am glad I went there. I love the ambience, the people are really friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I fell in love with the piggy lamps, lol. I will definitely be back and I strongly recommend it.

Google
I got a to go order but the place was very cute. The food was very good. This is my first time trying central/southern Mexican cuisine and I thought it was delicious. I'm honestly so tired of Sonoran style so this was a pleasant surprise that it was so different. And the black beans were tasty! The green chili beef was so flavorful but it is definitely spicy. And the 2 guys working were super sweet. I can't wait to try other items

Google
We came in for what we thought would be regular average Mexican food. In Phoenix there's no shortage of that, but we were absolutely blown away by what I must say was the best Mexican food I've had in a very very long time. I had the special: 3 carnitas street tacos with rice and black beans, sounds simple, and it was... so I can't define what made them so exceptionally delicious; maybe the pickled onions, maybe the delicious crema on top, the perfectly seasoned beans, all I know is I wished that plate would never empty. My hubby had the beef enchiladas and described the red sauce as pure perfection. He hasn't stopped raving about how delicious they were hours later. The service was very friendly, the place was modern chic and very clean. 10 out of 10!! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We had a lovely 4pm Friday happy hour including $6 margaritas and $2 off the fantastic elote appetizer that I forgot to take a picture of, sorry. The bartender Regina made each margarita, not pouring from a vat. Mine had tajin rim, so my friend eventually switched from table salt to tajin too. Smile. We contemplated moving to the patio but loved the charming company. The inside is brightly colored and fun with neon and a mix of tables, bar and patio. Fire heaters are fun, and add to the patio vibe. We will try it soon! After two margaritas it was time for food. They will tell you about the happy hour specials but I never found a menu. $2 off special cocktails and appetizers plus $6 margaritas and a beer deal. Till 8pm! My eloté was creamy with an orangey mayo sauce and the corn was perfectly cooked. I probably should have ordered chips, but we forked it up as a side dish! Friend had never had such a dish and was pleased too My friend ordered TacoDillas which are griddled with melty cheese your choice of meat, then folded and topped with lettuce and tomato. Anyway she had one barbacoa and one shrimp and raved about them. They were quite large and very filling. I tasted a shrimp, it had what looked like fajita veggies in the filling too. Yum! The carne street tacos are not as large. I debated ordering three but ended up starting with one carne asada and an asado ranchero with onions and peppers. I love the cotija cheese with onions and cilantro on top. Missed the guac but wouldn't want a full appetizer order here. Loved both the charred steak and its veggie inclusive partner, more perfectly charred pieces of quality steak with peppers and onions. Only one really spicy bite from the Serrano peppers in the whole taco. So when I finished eating both of my delicious carne asada tacos, I was still hungry. So... Mas tacos please! I ordered a single tacodilla with barbacoa, on a corn tortilla to meet my food restrictions. It at first came out on flour tortilla and our bartender recognized immediately that it needed to be remade and swept it away. When the replacement arrived, it was hot, gooey and cheesy, muy deliciouso. Quite everything I had hoped it would be. We both loved both the salsas, the medium wasn't a roasty salsa but it was super tasty. The one that was supposed to be hot wasn't actually all that deadly. When we arrived at 4:00, there were only two other people dining. Maps said "busier than ever" but wrong! It was definitely pretty busy by the time we left, so don't sleep on this great little Mexican restaurant! Already craving another tacodilla, baby!

Yelp
Drove out here based on positive comments from a local tv show. I may stop watching it, as now it's 0-4 on recommendations. Service: Well it was ok, I guess. Do we get chips and salsa? Not sure, some tables had it, others didnt. Didnt see it on the menu, only chips and guac. Anyway not a big deal. Drink order was either not put in or mishandled by the bar staff. Didnt get it until I finally asked the server 10 min after ordering. Ordered my burrito, with no beans. Got beans. Food: Not bad, the best item we had were the loaded fries. On menu as "crispy", well not really. The protein portions are small all across the items ordered. Had to dig through beans and lettuce to find any in the burrito. the Chili relleno was stringy, but overloaded with cheese. Vibe: Music a bit on the loud side, concrete uneven floors, so chair wobbled, tried to switch out, but all wobbled in the area. First world problems, I know. Indoor or outdoor dining, if you enjoy looking at the parking lot. Overall: Made a 20 min drive out here, wont do it again.

Yelp
Stopped by after the WMO. Ordered the nachos con al pastor and green chili beef burrito. The green chili stewed beef was amazing, spicy. I'd go back just for that. On secon thought, I should have got that on my nachos. Next time. Service was good, and it wasn't busy mid afternoon on a Friday. I would go back for their taco Tuesday deal.

Yelp
Food here is really good. We stumbled into here by accident really. It is quaint but nice inside. The owners are so nice and we know the staff too. They take care of us. It can take a minute for food if the place is cranking. If you don't like waiting for food sometimes, this isn't for you. It is worth the wait. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Taco Tuesday kills: 5 good size tacos and a beer for a spot. That won't even get you a drink in Scottsdale. The ambiance is nice and we already have a favorite table. The brunch is good too. Sunday's they close by 4:00 p.m., so hustle up. There is a small outdoor patio with limited seating. It is great for this time of year. XOLO - This is a breed of Dog relegated to Mexico. Tons of references to that inside with the decor and pictures. Check it out! Cool little place! #irishcatv2

Yelp
Not impressed, maybe they had an off night or not enough help. You should not have to stand and wait to be seated and ignored. If you are busy at least greet the customer who is waiting. Service was slow and food was average at best. It seems like a cute place that we would enjoy but the first visit went downhill quick.

Yelp
So my husband saw an ad for a special on Tuesdays, 5 street tacos & a beer for $10. So we thought we'd try them out! We will definitely be back! The tacos were delicious & the beer was cold! Our server Alex was awesome & the ambience was bustling. We even made new friends who were also there for the first time! It was a great night! I just forgot to take the pic BEFORE I started eating! Ha!Ha!

Jack M.

Yelp
10$ for 5 tacos and a beer... the tacos were great... need i say more? The elote was 7/10 Tacos 8.7 /10

Yelp
Such a cool interior. Amazing drinks. Super stellar food that also didn't break the bank. Quick service. Kind staff. Will be back.

Gayle W.

Yelp
The food was delicious! We really enjoyed it; my husband had grilled fish tacos and I had the cheese crisp with marinated grilled shrimp. Our server was lovely. We liked the decor too. We will be back, we want to try other things on the menu too! Highly recommend!

Yelp
As always, XOLO's, excel in food, service & ambiance. Of course, the beautiful Regina, is the icing on the cake. She lights up the whole place. Actually, the whole staff, is incredible. I always feel, like, I'm at home. We met, a close couple, there, last night. Everyone but myself, ordered the mini chimi's. I opted for the taco salad. Normally, when I order the mini chimi's, I can only eat 4 of the 6. The rest, gets taken home. No one took anything home, last night, as our plates were clean, when we finished. Actually! We all left with smiles, on our face. We take all our friends here, because, we know they'll be pleased with the whole experience. Just like home. Try them! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Love Xolo tacos! The food, the staff and the ambiance are amazing. Not sure what the negative reviews are about but please do not let those stop you from trying this place out for yourself. Staff is very welcoming and attentive, the food is flavorful and authentic. Of course everyone has their own flavor profiles and some people are just downright impossible to please so with that in mind be your own judge. Their chile rellenos are to die for, and of course the tacos (green chile, red chile, asada) are delicious. A must try.

Yelp
Stopped in for the Tuesday taco special. You can't go wrong with a beer and 5 street tacos for $10. Tacos were tasty and the beer was cold. Great local place
google avatar

Jeannie A.

Yelp
Came here on Taco Tuesday, service was super slow, had to flag someone down to even come take our order & no one even bothered to acknowledge us before that! Super disappointing!
google avatar

Shelbie P.

Yelp
I came here with two friends for a taco Tuesday and everything we ordered was delicious. We got the cheese crisp with chicken and the al pastor and chicken vinagreta tacos. On taco Tuesday you can get 5 tacos (2 choices) and a draft beer for $10. Great deal! They also have happy hour from 3-6pm with drink and appetizer deals. The restaurant isn't very big, but it's cute and comfortable. It's great because I only live 5 minutes away. The only thing I would say was I wish they had some more people working on this Taco Tuesday because it was very busy and they only had 2 servers on the floor so the service was a bit slow. All in all, I would definitely recommend this spot!
google avatar

Kevin D.

Yelp
Regina was our server and she was amazing! We met her and her Sons who are the owners. It is a family run business and it was phenomenal! Happy hour has great prices, and the food was delicious.
google avatar

Anisa W.

Yelp
I was unfortunately underwhelmed by my visit. I was looking forward to enjoying a good meal and experience, and I can't say I did for either one. The over priced tacos were mid at best, including the ceviche. Both dishes were lacking in flavor. The gentleman that helped us made us feel like an inconvenience? We're here supporting your local business and you aren't greeting us or treating us with proper customer service. I think his name was Jaime. If you want good quality street tacos at a decent price. I recommend Taco Boys, any location.
google avatar

Bailey E.

Yelp
Our go-to Mexican spot at least a couple times each month. The chicken flautas are very good. I usually get the Xolo Bandera with steak. Taco Tuesday is a steal and always good.
google avatar

Damian G.

Yelp
This place was awesome! The food was amazing- the waitress told us they make everything from scratch & it showed! We had a large party of 10 people and everyone loved. The waitress was very accommodating, efficient & fun. Highly recommend the tacodilla. The chipotle chicken was amazing, carnitas, al pastor & green chili beef (spicy) were all so good! Even the beans & rice were phenomenal!

Yelp
So happy to have a place like this in the North Phoenix area! It feels like a slice of downtown with it's creative decor and cool atmosphere! I've eaten here twice now and already can't wait to go back a third time! I've tried so many things on their menu: elote, chips & guacamole, mini chimis, seafood tacos, tacodillas, churros & ice cream, cinna chips & ice cream, and of course, margaritas! It's all been delicious! I've met one of the owners, very down-to-earth and warm. My most recent waiter, Jo, was outstanding! So friendly, easy to chat with, great service! Thanks for the tajin marg recommendation, Jo Definitely check this place out!

Yelp
Our party of 4 visited on Taco Tuesday and were happy to discover the happy hour specials run all day! We started with elote ($2 off= $6) and Pinata bombs ($1 off= $11). The elote is served in a small bowl, not on the cob. My friend (who really needs to start her own Yelp account) said it was canned corn but I cannot confirm. It was a nice bright yellow indicating that it had not been boiled, as some "elote" is served. It was fine but I wouldn't get it for $8. The Pinata bombs (redbull, pineapple infused vodka, pineapple slice with tajin) were very Redbull forward (duh) and I wouldn't recommend unless you like Redbull or want a drink that doesn't taste alcoholic (my other friend lol). Shoulda stuck to the $6 infused vodkas! Our group enjoyed the Hibis-kiss and margarita. Between us we had the Flautas with carne asada, street tacos (carne asada, pastor), red beef enchiladas, souiza enchiladas, and chipotle chicken tostadas. Portions are generous and our meals were served with rice & beans. The rice and beans were average. The sauce on the souiza enchiladas was the tastiest of all of our meals! My friend was cautioned the red salsa was the spiciest between red/green but it wasn't spicy to us. My friend did approve of the salsas and the chipotle chicken reminded her of tinga. We split the strawberry tres leche cake and vanilla banana cream. We preferred the strawberry tres leche as it was moist, tasted like subtle strawberry, and wasn't too sweet. The banana flavor came through on the second cake but was drier. We would have loved to see the cakes garnished with fresh strawberries/bananas. Our waitress, the blonde girl (didn't catch her name) was sweet and friendly. She checked on us throughout our meal to ensure we had everything we needed.

Yelp
Overall, highly recommend. Great decor and ambiance, great drinks, delicious food. Decent level of heat in the Phoenix Margarita, hot salsa and Xolos on Fire. My son went crazy for the sopita, rice and beans. Wife thought the mole was excellent and loved the Hibis-kiss. One of the main reasons to go though would be the staff and service. Great people who make you feel welcome. Will definitely return.
google avatar

Lex K.

Yelp
Full of flavor and portion sizes are huge!!! The service was so friendly and fantastic. It's a small, authentic atmosphere with great food and service. Their brunch menu is awesome. We shared a Bloody Mary and a spicy margarita! Definitely ask to see their infused vodka selection! So so many choices! We hiked north mountain and then enjoyed brunch here and will make this place a favorite spot for sure!

Yelp
Second time here and so happy they are planted to stay! Takes a while for any restaurant to procure repeat customers. Food was awesome hands down, we ordered the JJs special. Price was fitting for the food $11.99! The beans and rice were tasty so were the tacos. I gave the restaurant four stars due to the red wine options and the tiny wine glasses. The red wine, cabernet although was a cork, I feel could have been a better selection. In addition, generally, I'm a one glass of wine for dinner kind of girl and end up ordering a second considering the glasses were so little. Maybe I should have asked for the long pour perhaps? If so, that was my fault. Definitely, will be back, they have a churro dessert I know my son would love. Next time, we will take him.

Yelp
This is Beef enchilada Combo. It was excellent and had a little kick to it. It's beautiful to look at delicious to the taste

Yelp
What a wonderful find! Stopped in while visiting Phoenix and had the best time. Regina was so incredibly kind and welcoming. The food was amazing (we devoured it so you get a picture of our half eaten nachos). On top, there was a huge portion of some of the best guac I've had, tons of chicken and toppings. Margarita, tacos - all of it amazing. And Regina's kindness toward our 2 young kids made it such a perfect lunch for us.
google avatar

Yelp
Different vibes and food was ok the service was ok not that many people...............

Yelp
Read the reviews. Obviously fake. The only real users have been honest. Shame on this establishment. Food was poor and the service was mid. Highly recommend to avoid. Failed twice I won't be back

Yelp
Loved this place. Didn't know it changed from the old Country Diner a year ago. We came on a Sunday afternoon after church. We lucked out because the do breakfast/brunch all day on Sundays. We ordered more than we normally would just to try out some of the menu. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the food was stuffed with FLAVOR! Here's what we had: Chips and Guac: A- A solid starter. Nothing super special about the dish but both were obviously fresh. You'll run out of guac before running out of chips. Hermica: A My wife loved this. She has a friend who makes this from scratch at home and this was on par with the home made batch. El Pastor Taco: A++ Just so stinking good! Sweet and savory Asada Taco: A- Only an A- because it's a bit more spicy than advertised. I'm weak on the spice end so this isn't a surprise for me ChileQuiles: A+ This is basically green chili chicken breakfast nachos with Cremea on top. Loved it! Breakfast Burrito: A+ I got it with the Chorizasada (?). The flavor profile was amazing. The veggies were fresh. If you like flavor this is has it in spades. Everything we had was immensely flavorful. This isn't a run of the mill texmex style or average tasting taco shop. Flavors were amazing in every dish. Will definitely be back. Especially when their taco Tuesday deal is 5 tacos and a drink for $10 Food was amazing! You've got repeat fans in us for sure! Do yourself a favor and get to Xolo... and bring a friend. They'll definitely thank you. Bravo

Yelp
Great place for cinco de mayo. Happy hour all day. The service was quick. The food was delicious.
google avatar

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Food is consistently good, staff is good yet sometimes preoccupied/inattentive. Nothing incredible but good and reliable.
google avatar

Elli A.

Yelp
This restaurant is absolutely amazing. After living in Los Angeles for 8 years then moving to Arizona I have not been able to find any good Mexican food. This place is better than a lot of other places in LA even. Highly recommend. The mole enchiladas, are incredible. Regina helped us and is also such a sweet human. Will be coming back ALOT. 10/10!

Penny P.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times for lunch first time ordering the takeout. It was done to my specifications and on time. I guess loved the food as well as I did. Love this place
google avatar

Hilary R.

Yelp
This is our second time coming to tacos Xolo. Both times the food and service have been fantastic. The ambience is very cute inside and the mixed drinks are very tasty as well with good beer selection. We have ordered various burritos, tacos, and enchiladas and fajitas. All were very fresh and delicious and the beans and rice are great too. Definitely would recommend and we will be back!
google avatar

Deborah B.

Yelp
Loved the food, the decor, the vibe, the friendly staff! Everything was great. I had the street tacos (Al pastor, Barbacoa beef, and chipotle chicken). The beans and rice were really good, and I loved the pickled radish and onions served with the tacos.
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
I stopped in and placed an order to go for my friend and myself. I got ceviche, nachos and a taco meal. They were all great. We were very pleased and my friend took her family the next day because she loved it so much.
google avatar

Claudia M.

Yelp
Flauta stuffed with potato and cheese topped with your choice of meats. i chose asada which was very flavorful and their tomatillo sauce is also great . The Salsa and Guacamole is on point with just the right amount of heat and the guacamole was fresh! We also ordered the Bandera burrito and that was huge and packed with meat. Drinks were good! i had a Michilada .. menu says that its spicy and spicy it was ! Variety of infused flavored vodkas! Mimosas on the Menu as well !

Mc C.

Yelp
We just flew in from North Myrtle Beach had to try out the burritos and boy they didn't lets us down , will definitely be back if not this trip for sure next one.

Robert S.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, we had our office work party here and the veggie tacos were so good!
google avatar

Hilary C.

Yelp
This place is a little oasis in a somewhat dry area of the desert. With a tribute to the ancient Xolo dog and a flare of colors from Mexico this place feels really uplifting and inviting and they are always playing great music I've stole a few songs of their playlist almost every time I've gone! The food is authentic yet modern. Drinks are always delicious but most importantly Kirk and JJ, the owners are so welcoming and friendly. They have worked very hard putting their hearts into this restaurant and you can feel it. Check this place out you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Josh H.

Yelp
Great food and great service. The ambiance is very inviting. The music is eclectic and fun.
google avatar

Regi M.

Yelp
My husband and I drive from Surprise, and it's worth every mile, while we visited, one of the owners talked about the history of recipes and how they were passed down from the women in his family. This explains the authenticity, bold flavors, complexity, depth and diverse flavor profile of the dishes they serve. I order the shrimp tacodillas and they are on repeat. I have never had a shrimp tacodilla, filled with shrimp, onion, bell peppers and spicy creamy sauce, topped with queso fresco inside a Toasted flour tortilla, rice and beans. I have also ordered several specialty cocktails from their infused vodka line, and they were amazing. The servers are always incredibly attentive and they often recommended several dishes explaining the flavors. The portions are perfect for the price, the presentation is beautiful and colorful, truly a visual delight. The decor is modern Mexican, very vibrant but yet warm, and inviting. We will keep coming back and are pretty excited for this New Mexican food restaurant. Buen provecho

Mary A. D.

Yelp
If you want to pay for chips, salsa and ANYTHING extra- $$$$ (Knock yourself out.) The food is good , very clean & friendly atmosphere . I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't serve salsa w/ the meal & it's an extra cost.
google avatar

Yesenia N.

Yelp
Great taco spot!! You cannot beat the $10 board and beer on Tuesdays. The food had such great flavor. I also tried their michie and it was amazing!!!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
So excited to have this place in the neighborhood! Very chill vibe, indoor/outdoor seating available. When we got there we were told we could pick our seats. The service was friendly- the team was really working together well so we were never left with an empty glass! We got the ceviche to start. It was good, pretty sweet and would have loved more cilantro. I ordered the street tacos (2 carne asada 1 al pastor). The carne asada was amazing! Al pastor was good too- also pretty sweet though. My husband ordered the Xolos on Fire- a burrito with carne and green chili- super spicy but very very flavorful. They also brought us their two different salsas, one hot one regular. Both were really good and are made in house. So happy this place opened up we will definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
After a large and late breakfast, I wasn't very enthused when my husband spotted the XOLO Grand Opening sign and needed lunch immediately. The restaurant is new--still clean and shiny with a modern vibe. Diners eat under the watchful eye of the restaurant's namesake (a hairless Mexican dog). Our waitress, Sam, was friendly and offered suggestions. I wasn't all that hungry so ordered the ceviche. It came with a mound of tasty chips. While it was a little soupier than most I've had, it was incredibly fresh tasting with plenty of shrimp and turned out to be a perfect choice. Hubby had the enchiladas and after tasting his meal I know what I will order next time. Everything was tasty, not too spicy and reasonably priced. We'll be back.

Rick S.

Yelp
My wife and I walked down from Hilton Resort yesterday for lunch, intrigued by photo of Xolo's mole. Suffice it to say, my chicken enchilada with authentic mole was insanely delicious. Young owners deliver truly authentic Mexican fare. My wife's shrimp tacos were equally excellent with slightly crispy tortillas, a unique feature. Lastly, when my smart phone acted up and I was unable to order ride share back up the hill to the Hilton, Kirk-- one of the owners-- called us a Lyft and I had to argue with him to accept my reimbursement for the fare. Wished I lived in Phoenix to make this restaurant a regular stop!
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
I live in the area, but had not been here because in my experience, a taco shop is a taco shop. Boy was I wrong! I had the tacodillas---a carne asada and a red chili chicken. I give the chicken a 10 and the asada a 9.5. The salsa that came with it was outstanding---even the rice and beans were more flavorful than the usual fare. Highly recommend!
google avatar

M V.

Yelp
Enchiladas Suisa, flautas with carne asada, chili relleno : these are a few of my favorite menu items. Great margaritas. JJ and Kurt are delightful, humble. We are lucky to have this restaurant so close by. I'm looking forward to trying other menu items.

Spencer G.

Yelp
Great service and food was excellent. Highly recommend. Wasn't too crowded on a Sunday afternoon and they serve brunch all day.
