Started our experience at the Crossroads’ Percheron Rooftop Bar and ended it at XR. The atmosphere was the ultimate standout, but the food and service were still good! I ordered the Shroomer Boomer, and the goat cheese herb mix on that is yum! The dining room filled up to near capacity despite it being a weeknight, and we even had a very chill celebrity sighting. A very cool spot to feel metropolitan for a day! Only cons were the pebble ice that came in my cocktail and that parking can be somewhat limited if you’re not a hotel guest.

We were from out of town and heard that XR was a place to check out. At first we had a great experience in their inside restaurant. We started off with espresso martinis which were great and service was great. Since it was a nice day we decided to go up to their roof top area to continue our experience. There we found out there was a big difference. First, our drinks were ok and order were mixed up. Food was disappointing and expensive. Service was slow compared to their downstairs restaurant. Great views of the city and had several areas to sit. Whether it was tables or comfy sectional seating. Overall, I probably would not go back for the food. However, the atmosphere had a cool vibe with great views of Kansas City on the rooftop.

Google
If you are looking for a spot to meet friends for a quiet early afternoon this is your place! It’s also your place to meet friends or your person for drinks before a night out! Plus if you wanna have a late night cocktail you can head up to the rooftop!

Google
Nice little cozy bar, relaxed atmosphere with couch, table and bar seating as well as a pool table and shuffleboard. I came here on a Monday night and there were a few others, not too busy. I loved the ambiance. The staff was very friendly especially Nicholas, Kelly and Bradley. I didn't try the food yet because the restaurant was closed but I will definitely be back and I highly recommend.

The Brick Oven Pizza is out of this world! Maya is an absolute Pizza making genius! I highly recommend you try it. 🤩

Google
The only reason I keep coming back is because they are the only place that serves Margherita pizza after 10PM in Kansas City. The quality of the service is so poor. The bar is terribly understaffed and it’s always busy. They can afford to hire one more person to properly serve the guests. Running a restaurant is more than just filling seats and flipping tables, SERVICE!!!! HOSPITALITY!?!?!??! don’t forget that.

Google
I had the shroom pizza. One on the best pizzas I’ve ever had. The service from the staff was some of the friendliest I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended!

Google
It’s always a great to come into the crossroads hotel bar! It’s a great place to get to know those in and out of state. And the staff is super friendly and inviting. Eddy the bartender at the time gave great service and attitude for my requests. Will be back again!

Yelp
XR Cafe in the Crossroads Hotel lobby is such an underrated gem! Whether I'm craving their unique spicy Thai salad--honestly, you can't find anything like it anywhere else--or just stopping by for a perfectly made cappuccino on a rainy day, this spot never disappoints. The staff is incredible; it's like coming to hang out with friends every time. They're welcoming, easygoing, and genuinely make each visit feel like a special experience. Plus, everything on the menu is simply delicious. For a low-key spot that nails both comfort and creativity, XR Cafe is a true find. Can't recommend it enough!

Yelp
I stayed in this hotel when I was in town and since I got in late I wanted a simple dinner. The staff said the hotel bar had good food and drinks so I went here and it was great! The servers were really nice. I got a cocktail that was amazing and a pizza with fig jam and turkey sausage, also great. I even went back the next day to get a coffee since they have lots of coffee drinks and that was great too. Overall the bar fits the ambiance of the hotel kind of like refurbished factory with exposed bricks. There's lots of couches and chairs around the bar that you can sit at as well as bar stools of course. When I was there at night it was a Monday and some locals 20-30 year olds were coming by also who knew the bartenders. I would definitely come back if I lived in KC or if I visit again.

Yelp
This place is the best breakfast in town and the staff is amazing. It's also great for just a cup of coffee or even a late night date spot.

Yelp
This is the lobby bar restaurant in the Crossroads Hotel. We stopped in around 3:00 and were between lunch menu and dinner menu so our options were very limited. Even with limited food options our meal was delicious. We had the Italian chop salad and the Gabagool sandwich. Service was fast and friendly. Our cocktails were all tasty. We had an espresso martini, Negroni, Saffron spritzer and a holiday sour ( can't remember the name). The vibe and ambience is urban sophistication. Loved the seat groupings.

Yelp
This space is so inviting and beautiful. It's well designed and a quiet place to catch up with friends or work a bit on a weekday. They serve breakfast until 11 on weekdays and 2pm on the weekends. I enjoyed an iced caramel latte and their Hong Kong French Toast, which was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. Service was personalized and fast, and our barista was so kind.

Yelp
Fantastic, hip restaurant! Atmosphere has a cool, yet very comfortable industrial chic vibe. Cool couches and work stations make this place perfect for chilling with friends or dining solo while working. The BEC sandwich is delicious! Coffee is very good and the servers are very friendly and conscientious.

Yelp
I wasn't excited by the small-plate menu (I didn't want a meal, since I had dinner plans later). The Gustav sour was good, although there wasn't very much of it given the size of the ice cube. I enjoyed the grilled peppers more than I thought I would--a few more chips would have been nice. Felt neglected by the wait staff.

Yelp
The lounge is such a charming spot and we were lucky enough to get a booth. The service was as good as always- polite and not intrusive. We had the mushroom pizza, the margarita pizza, the chicken sandwich and the garlic knots. All were delicious! The portions are satisfying and I had a great pink gin cocktail that was a nice way to wrap the evening.

Yelp
Super elegant, industrial-like cafe with 10/10 food. I came to try the Hong Kong French Toast because it wasn't something I've ever seen in Kansas City. It was a sweet treat that tasted similar to a fried donut, but on an elevated level. It was perfectly fried, caramelized, and wonderfully sweet--- highly recommend. Similarly, the Breakfast Burger went well above my expectations. On the saltier side, but the perfectly runny egg and smoked bacon were great additions to the burger. The potatoes were crispy and amazing. There's also variety of seating options, including bar seating, high-tops, and sofas. We visited on a Saturday for brunch and stayed to get some work done, and it was the perfect place to spend a rainy day. Definitely would love to come back to try out their cocktails and more food :)

Yelp
The XR Cafe, located on the first floor of the Crossroads Hotel, is a classy spot for a cocktail or a bite to eat. It is a beautiful space, with high ceilings, a huge central wrap-around bar, and elegant decor. Centrally located in the Crossroads district, it makes for a great place to start your evening. Bartenders were great - friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the Pear Necessities cocktail. The cocktails are a little pricey, but for the place, it makes sense. For food, I ordered a Fried Provolone Sandwich, and it was an interesting surprise. When it first came out, I thought there had been a mistake - it looked like a Chicken Fried Steak. But sure enough, it was basically a sandwich with a disc-shaped mozzarella stick on it. Props for the creativity. I'll definitely be returning to the XR Cafe!

Yelp
XR Café is a bar and lounge located in the lobby of the Crossroads Hotel.  To me, the ambiance/atmosphere is the clear selling point here.  The tall exposed ceilings contribute to what is already a large open space while the layout and separate seating areas promote a more intimate setting.  Clusters of exposed lightbulbs illuminate the centrally located island bar... Of the dozen or so house and classic cocktails, I ordered the "Pony's New Trick" {Bombay Bramble, Italicus Bergamot Liqueur, Peychaud's, Lemon, Simple, Prosecco} for $14.  It was good. Overall, great spot to grab a drink with a friend or kick off your night out.

Yelp
In a swanky hotel, this expansive lobby bar is a great breakfast spot. Parking is ok. Have a great coffee with an omelet filled with goat cheese. One of the best hidden indoor spots in KC. Nice servers too.

Yelp
I came to the XR cafe for a farewell happy hour and had a lovely time. The environment is chic and it's easy to snag a table for a group of friends on a weeknight. The best things about the XR Cafe are not food or drink related. The Crossroads Hotel is beautiful and this cafe, likewise shares in that wonderful ambiance. As far as hotel bars go it feels light years ahead in terms of decor and overall look and feel. The food and drinks on the other hand just didn't quite meet the same level of elegance as the environment. The cocktails were on the expensive side so I expected them to be really excellent. I found them to be good but not on the same level as say Swordfish Tom's, Tom's Town, or Lifted Spirits. The food was all fine, but nothing to write home about. Out of all the appetizers we sampled I'd say the fries were my favorite. Overall I'd absolutely return as the servers were friendly and the space gorgeous, I'd just go to enjoy the space and the company.

Yelp
I really enjoy the open concept of XR Café. It gets a lot of business. Although there's a hotel attached to it people come to hang out for cocktails or to eat at the Italian restaurant that's inside. The drinks are good and the bartenders are friendly. You have to option to sit at the bar or in the lounge area. The atmosphere is relaxing and it's quite dim. I will definitely return.

Yelp
Excellent order of bagel and lox. She had some fancy French toast of the day that was almost as good as their breakfast potatoes which were dynamite tasty! Coffee is completely complimentary and it is very good, from locally roasted beans. The staff was genuine, as well as courteous, and the ambiance is so very comfortable, except for a couple of "sleep-comfy" couches within which we sat a little low to eat. We liked it so well, we are recommending it to a local company President to consider for corporate gatherings or, simply a night out for her and her husband.

Yelp
This is the hotel bar for Crossroads hotel. The hotel is also amazing. The aesthetic of both the hotel and bar is on point. We got a drink and shared a Turkey avocado sandwich. It was the most delicious Turkey avocado sandwich I have ever had. Hands down. Also don't forget to sub fries for chips. That's a pet peeve of mine but we will let that slip.

Yelp
Located inside the Crossroads Hotel, a wonderful little bar and restaurant situated immediately to your left as you enter. Plenty of comfortable seating, friendly servers, and a full bar. They specialize mostly in wood fired pizzas, with some appetizers. I opted for the primavera pizza, and shared the margarita and sausage that my girlfriends ordered. Pizza was delicious!!! Thin, crunchy, full of flavors from the sauce and fresh ingredients. I also tried an old fashion, which was equally marvelous.

Yelp
Loveeeee this bar. The vibe is one of a kind + the service is always great. We came in December when they had all of their Christmas decorations up. Their trees are so beyond pretty! I always come here for their espresso martinis but I've heard great things about their other cocktails! I can't wait to be able to try their pizza. I've seen pictures and its definitely drool worthy!

Yelp
We visited KC for a wedding and stayed at the crossroads hotel. This bar/restaurant/lounge was in the lower level of the hotel. It's low key with a few games (pool, shuffleboard, chess). I don't believe it's truly the final destination for most as the rooftop bar is definitely the bigger attraction, its more of a transition area. However, with that said, we enjoyed a quick bite here on two occasions. The food was great. The atmosphere low key which was also very enjoyable and relaxing.

Yelp
I can honestly say, I would not have known XR existed if it would not have been for an unexpected gift card given to us... but, glad it did! Having the gift card, we decided to give it a shot on a Saturday evening. Lovely little Cafe, tucked away in the back of Tom's Town... lovely ambiance, very polo-lounge feeling with leather chairs, dark rugs, revealed brick walls. Delightful. Staff was attentive and very cool. We opted to have a couple drinks and share some appetizers. Their appetizer game is most certainly on-point. Making myself hungry just typing this review! This would be the absolute perfect place to try before a show or for a pre-dinner appetizer / drink. Really great ambiance and worth your time! P.S. the drink menu is stellar and their martini is killer!

Yelp
Great breakfast. Best homemade sausage patty. And the sweetest staff who made some fresh sweet tea for us too!

Yelp
Went here with my love. She had never been and we wanted a place to talk, eat and lounge around. Saw this on Yelp. The vibe of this place gives you a feel like you aren't in KC. It's so chill and they even have a live band. Drinks are fairly price and I really enjoyed the French Cider. It has a nice aroma cinnamon and apple. We also enjoyed a Margherita Pizza. The portion is huge and easy to share with. Since it was just us, we had to take some home. This place was enjoyable and pretty good for a date or a hangout. They also have small board games, billard/pool table, and shuffleboard table.

Yelp
Drinks were good. Definitely on the expensive side. Waiters were not friendly. Had two different waiters coming up to our table all night and at the end we asked one of them for our checks. Both had attitudes and didn't seem thrilled to be waiting on us. Alas, the only reason I'll go back is for the ambiance and maybe the pear necessities drink.

Yelp
I have been to xr, once a month for the past 4 months, and Shane ALWAYS shows us a good time! He's so kind, so patient, and always finds a way to make us out-of-towners feel like we're regulars! Will always return for Shane's shenanigans

Yelp
Wow - we really enjoyed our date night at the XR cafe (in the lobby of the crossroads hotel) ! It is the perfect mix of swanky & casual. It's neighbor - Lazia is higher end and higher priced. With the XR cafe you get the same cozy and cool feel, but with more affordable prices. We enjoyed splitting a pizza and salad as well as trying some of their speciality cocktails. Right now is the perfect time to try the XR cafe because it is decked out in beautiful Christmas decor!!

Yelp
**this is the bar inside the crossroads hotel. Use the large wooden doors right next to the valet/short term hotel parking spaces to enter** Shane and Rochelle (bartenders) were very nice. For 2021, Rooftop bar will open 29April. Inside, weekday happy hour is from 4-6pm. HR pices aren't THAT happiness inducing ($10 for some cheese flavored crackers and mayo [based on description, I didnt order], but the pizzas look incredible (and I am a pizza snob). Covid measures good - they ask for phone # at door. Atmosphere is good. Crowd is mature acting/dressed mid 20s and up (hip in 60s)
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
A really upscale bar located in the Crossroads hotel, the XR cafe would be a perfect place for happy hour or a first date. The bartenders were so kind and gave a lot of recommendations for other great local eats, and service was quick. I got a glass of rose, a salad, and a pepperoni pizza. The salad was nice and light, with a great dressing, and the pizza was really cheesy and tasty. I was legitimately shocked that the pizza was that good. If you are in the area stop in!

Yelp
This is a review of cocktails only! I have not had any food here so I can not speak to that. Some friends and I came here to use our KC passports and had some amazing drinks! I had the Paramour which is a blueberry-butter-fly-pea-tea infused vodka, caramelized pear syrup lime soda. Amazing! Nice balance of tart and sweet! My friend had the continental divide which contains blackberry infused rum, tawny port, tequila, cinnamon lime grapefruit and bitters. Also amazing and more on the boozy side! Great atmosphere and super friendly wait staff!

Yelp
We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning the day after we got married (& stayed in the hotel, which you should do too). It was the perfect place to get some good grub in a quiet & comfortable setting. I had the avocado toast & added an egg. It was phenomenal. I wish I could eat like that all the time. It comes with pickled vegetables on it & microgreens which is just perfect. The bread was also amazing & obviously something special. My new husband ordered the BLT which I also took a bite out of & I can confirm- tasty as hell. We both had mimosas (a little on the pricier side & probably not worth it, but if it's your honeymoon morning you do whatever you want) & then watched the bartender making several bloody mary's & struck up a conversation with her about what went in them. They use a pickled Bloody Mary mix, & since she offered to make us a little sample Bloody Mary, I can tell you it does make a difference. I am really glad we decided to eat here & not go out somewhere for breakfast.

Alexia B.

Yelp
There water is absolutely fantastic! The most refreshing water I've ever had! It's like I just dipped a cup in a fresh spring. The cocktails were good too.

Yelp
Came here as XR is on the Passport Program, so got BOGO drinks. Came to peep out the absolutely gorgeous hotel. I am obsessed. Had drinks in a booth, and had the spiced marcona almonds to nosh on. I had the Upper East Side, which was delish. I love anything with J. Ringer gin. Hubby had the peach old fashioned, which was a generously sized drink, but he said he wished it had a stronger peach flavor. Very cool you could order a pizza from the brick oven right there in the lobby by Lazia. Plan on coming here and working one day, sipping on Messenger coffee. Crossroads Hotel is a gem.
google avatar

Allen B.

Yelp
Cool bar with chill vibe. In lobby of gorgeous crossroad hotel. Great place to just sit and relax with a drink in hand! Definitely a place to try out!

Dale C.

Yelp
In town for the weekend. My friends recommended this spot. The aesthetic and drinks were incredible, and just enough TVs to catch some baseball, but Lindsey our server was hands down the best part of our visit. She was informative, patient (all a little buzzed) and beyond hospitable...a truly great server. For many reasons, I truly recommend this spot. Great times!
google avatar

Cassandra W.

Yelp
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Been here three times for business and I cannot speak more highly of this restaurant. The waitstaff is polite and goes over the top to make sure you're comfortable and taken care of. Shane is the BEST bartender I've ever had. So fun and the drinks were to die for. If you're visiting Kansas City I highly recommend.

Yelp
We went to XR last Friday night for Happy Hour. The atmosphere, the happy hour selections of food and drink. Very upbeat and fun.
