Cantonese-Owned Ramen Shop Yamakoz Opens in Irvine Serving Duck Ramen | Eater LA

"Opened in December 2024 by chef Taiwei Ding and Sherry Yuan in Irvine, the shop’s signature ramen is a duck breast ramen made with Jidori chicken, duck, clam, oyster, and kombu; Ding sous-vides duck breast for an hour before searing it at high heat to seal in its juiciness, and the tender slices are then laid on top of the noodles and broth. The only other ramen features slices of American wagyu and slow-cooked tendon in a beef bone and oxtail broth, while casual comfort dishes like the Jidori chicken thigh curry, karaage, and wings round out a menu that rotates every few weeks as Ding experiments — he has recently added snacks such as teriyaki fish balls, curried beef rib fingers, and crispy panko-fried shrimp served with sweet and sour sauce and homemade mayo. Ding’s focus on only two types of ramen is inspired by the Tokyo ramen masters; he says he would rather perfect a simple, clean broth than make multiple varieties that are less precise in composition, explaining, “The Tokyo ramen chefs I admire make 72-hour broths that are very aromatic and flavorful, but afterward, your mouth feels clean — the broth is very clear.” While a student of the Japanese ramen style, Ding’s expression departs in the noodles: they stray from a traditional thick wheat ramen and verge near soba in width and flavor, made of both buckwheat and wheat flours — “It’s not a Japanese-style noodle per se, but this thinner buckwheat noodle pairs so well with the duck and doesn’t overwhelm it,” Yuan says. Ding often asks his Japanese flour supplier for new brands to experiment with; his current noodle recipe combines buckwheat flour, French wheat flour, three brands of Japanese wheat flour, whole duck egg, chicken egg, and seven types of sea salt. The open kitchen features a Japanese noodle machine in a picture window where guests can watch dough being fed through, and Ding keeps 200 cookbooks in the kitchen and office that he reads daily while “constantly watching ramen videos.” The cozy, home-forward environment — conceived by Yuan — includes tan leather banquettes by a glowing model fireplace, a large teddy bear perched in a small wooden child’s chair, Lisa Ono on a record player, a limewashed wall with a local artist’s watercolor of Les Deux Magots, vintage wood chairs sourced from Yuan’s house, and nearly every table ordering a towering silver teapot of Taiwanese oolong. Their backgrounds inform the concept: Yuan’s family once owned a 400-seat buffet franchise in Chicago and Ding’s family ran a food-supply business near Hong Kong for 37 years, and Ding previously worked at Tim Ho Wan; together they intentionally avoid a fixed menu — “We don’t want a fixed recipe tied to us,” Yuan says — to allow constant experimentation. That includes swapping sauce formulas (an unusually smooth curry sauce varying ratios of reduced apple and carrot puree and a frequently tweaked squid sauce): “I change the squid sauce all the time,” Ding says. “My cooking philosophy is to always try to do something different, and right now, I like it with soybean paste, konbu, organic American sugar, Shaoxing wine, and Japanese mayonnaise.” Because recipes change to highlight available ingredients, Yuan recommends not requesting substitutions: “Certain ingredients might clash or cover the authenticity of a dish,” Yuan says. “Based on what ingredients we can locate, we will change the recipes for soup, rice, and curries to really highlight the unique properties of the ingredients.” One constant is their commitment to comforting, return-worthy food: “This is the kind of food you’d eat as your last meal before you die — simple food with unique ingredients, like the ramen, the noodles, and rice my mom would cook for me,” Ding says." - Dakota Kim

What a pleasant surprise discovering this new spot near work! The broth was the highlight—clean, flavorful, and with a long-lasting finish. You can tell they take their time to make it right, using good ingredients and a careful cooking process. When the broth is this good, you know the rest of the bowl is made with just as much care. Their attention to detail really stands out. The house-made noodles have a great texture—firm but not too chewy, soaking up the broth perfectly. Even the plates and bowls they use feel thoughtfully chosen, very well put together. The menu is simple but filled with traditional yet refined dishes. Even though they just opened, I already noticed customers coming back, which says a lot. I’ll definitely be returning to try more from their menu.

Very interesting family own small Asian fusion restaurant, kind of fine dinning taste. Just opened approximately 4 months. We ordered half Honey half BBQ wings and Karaage, Signature Duck Ramen and Curry Beef Rib finger were all very tasty. Highly recommended 👍

Loved this month’s Chef’s Solo Special! The fluffy chicken breast rice was tender and flavorful, and the shrimp noodles were packed with umami. Finished with a dreamy ube and mini taro ball dessert—can’t wait for next month! 🍽️💜🦐

From a humble family trying to bring an authentic family flavor we have a chef in town without fear of combine flavors and bring new dishes to your table. What a such a small place with a unique flavor, well deserved 5 start review from the smallest details in the decoration all the way to the effort of the chef.

I was super lucky to stumble upon this newly opened restaurant, the owner told me they are still on the soft opening stage so a lot of menu items may rotate. Everything was super delicious and unique in a way. You can tell the chef spent a lot of time and effort into developing his crafts. The staff were super friendly and accommodating as well. The whole decor is unique in a way it feels like someone’s home instead of a business, very welcoming. Highly recommended!

Overall Experience: A charming, antique-style ramen spot with a rotating menu, flavorful broth, and attentive but minimal service, though portion sizes may feel small for the price. Location/Parking: It's located in a tucked away strip mall. There's a parking lot but it was pretty full on a Saturday around lunch time. Reservation: Not sure if they take reservations, but it was pretty easy to walk in and get a table. Ambiance: The vibe is very much like an antique coffee shop. Furniture is mixed and matched with a lot of wood elements. You can also sit outside if it's full. A lot of Chinese speaking families were dining there. It appeared that the owner/waitress is Taiwanese. Customer Service: I had requested for bamboo shoots to be removed from my dishes when I made the order, but it still showed up with it. Luckily, I don't have an allergy and it's merely preference, but this is certainly something for them to note in the future. The male waiter was very attentive at refilling our water cups when running low, but other than that they don't really check in on you/your food until you actively try to get their attention. Food: According to their waitress, they switch their menu pretty open. It's been changed 3 times in the 2 months they've been open. They continuously improve and innovate their menu. Signature Duck Ramen - very mild yet flavorful soup taste and I dranked it all. 5 thinly sliced pieces of duck breast, and expected there to be more. Value: For a $19.50 bowl of ramen, it definitely ran on the small side, but it had a great taste. I could see myself returning in the future to try some other items on their menu.

Delicious duck ramen and chicken buns with very well-balanced flavors. The ambience is very cozy and relaxing. Also, I really enjoyed their iced lemon tea!

Yelp
This is a super cozy and small restaurant with cafe vibes and great food! It is definitely a hidden gem. I went here on a Friday night for dinner with my partner and we were seated right away. The staff were very polite and helpful. We ordered the karaage, duck ramen, and beef noodles. I was very impressed with each dish. The karaage was super tender and moist, but also crispy. The duck ramen broth was very flavorful and the noodles were very fresh. The beef noodle broth reminded me more of pho rather than a taiwanese beef noodle soup. The broth was also very flavorful and yummy. Overall, this a great restaurant with immaculate vibes and super yummy food. Can't wait to come back again to try more of the menu.

Yelp
This place has the cutest indochine interior decoration !! We ordered duck ramen and Hainam chicken. Both came out great! Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 4/5

Yelp
Parking could be an issue during busy hours. The atmosphere is classy with an old english vibe. Service was very friendly and family-like. Food came out pretty quick. We ordered the beef ramen, duck ramen, chicken karage, beef curry and chicken curry. Overall every dish was delicious. However, i should point out to any new customers that food is not traditional japanese style. Its a bit of fusion and will taste different. The ramen soup is more of a milder flavor, more closely resembling pho to my taste buds. The curry is sweeter compared to other traditional japanese curry. With all that being said, the food was still tasty. Presentation was good. A little pricier imo, but worth a try.

Yelp
I came to Yakamoz Craft Ramen, eager to try their duck ramen. My plans were dashed, as they only were offering two off-menu items that day - shrimp ramen and a chicken dish. I opted to stay and try the shrimp ramen. The interior is decorated like someone's home. Even the chairs had little socks on them, so as not to scrape the floor. For a restaurant in Irvine, it has lot of character. The shrimp ramen ($19.50) was served in a giant bowl, with two large shell-on prawns, shrimp dumpling, fish ball, tofu and sprouts. The broth was rich - you could tell that it had been simmered for hours in order to develop the flavor. Noodles are made in-house, using buckwheat and wheat flours. You can tell that Chef Taiwei Ding takes pride in the food he makes, ensuring that it's of the highest quality. Yakamoz is charming little gem! I look forward to returning for that duck ramen and seeing what else they have to offer.

Yelp
A very interesting ramen place in Irvine - more of a ramen fusion type restaurant. Parking is rough when there's martial arts classes finishing - but other than those times it should be OK. Ordered the laksa and duck ramen. Both dishes were super flavorful. The laksa came with a lot of accoutrements in the dish, and the duck ramen, while having a very clean broth, had a lot of umami flavor. Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side, but given the quality of the food I think it's justified. The place really is more for smaller parties - I think their largest table can probably only sit 6 comfortably.

Yelp
Our friend recommended we come try Yakamoz for their Honey-Scented Organic Black Tea from Taiwan & craft-made noodles in the ramen. This cozy restaurant felt like your Aunty's living room, and the soft jazz made the ambiance quite nice. Service was friendly and the food was solid. Im glad I wasn't too hungry because portions are a bit on the smaller side so it's not great for sharing, but the ingredients seem to be of high quality. I would've liked to see more bamboo in the ramen (we only got 4 total), and the broth wasn't my flavorful enough to list as my favorite, but it was alright. The Hainan Chicken dish was gingery as expected, but the cucumbers had a slight wasabi taste to them which made it stand out. The tea was excellent and food was good but overall, I would probably eat elsewhere at this price point.

Yelp
Yakamoz has an unassuming exterior but this is definitely a hidden gem I'm glad I found! There's not a lot of seating but we got here right before dinner time on a weeknight so we were seated immediately. The girl serving us was so nice and explained the menu to us since it was our first time. They don't do classic Japanese ramen but rather incorporate flavors from other cuisines into their dishes. It seems like they change their menu every so often; when I went they had their signature duck ramen, a Taiwanese-inspired beef ramen, and a Southeast Asian shrimp laksa ramen. They also had a few appetizers that all sounded so good! I ordered the duck ramen which comes with thin noodles, while my boyfriend got the Taiwanese beef one that has thicker noodles. We also got the fried shrimp, which was so crunchy and crispy. The broth was flavorful but not too rich, providing a great broth that you can sip on even after finishing the noodles. I really loved the texture of the thin noodles and the duck was so juicy and tender. My broth was infused with duck flavor which I loved. My boyfriend really liked the beef ramen too and even finished the soup! We will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
Yakamoz provides a different yet familiar take on ramen.... With duck! First off, line can get pretty long so be prepared to wait or get here early. The menu is pretty limited in options, but each of the items we ordered were delicious (duck ramen, Wagyu ramen, and butter shrimp). The duck ramen was flavorful, savory and not too heavy. Definitely worth a try. The Wagyu ramen was even more delicious with very tender meats. The ramen are thin and chewy, leaving you not feeling heavy afterwards like some ramen. The butter shrimp was nice and buttery. Be prepared to get your hands dirty since you'll need to peel the shells. A welcomed addition to the Irvine ramen scene!

Yelp
one of my friends told me about this place which is a canto owned restaurant that specializes in ramen! I knew immediately that I had to try as a canto person myself the interior of the place is decorated well. it has lots of charm!! It is a little small though so you may have to wait on a weekend night. The food was amazing! my favorite of the night was the chicken karaage. It might be my favorite karaage ever. The chicken meat was so juicy and tender. It almost felt like I was biting into air. There was still some crunch and It was super flavorful. The second favorite was the beef ramen! It wasn't really like ramen, more like Taiwanese noodle soup but they let us know that before we ordered! I loved the broth. It wasn't too salty. The noodles also had a great bite to it! And the Wagyu beef slices were so indulgent and flavorful. The other noodles were also delish! im not a huge fan of duck to begin with but I really liked the ramen noodles and light broth. The laksa was also yummy!! When we went, the food did take a while to come out but granted, it was a busy Saturday night~ service was great and they checked up on us throughout the night :) I would love to come back and take my family here as my sister loves duck and Taiwanese beef noodle soup!

Yelp
This location is a very quaint restaurant tucked in a strip of restaurants. There is limited spacing inside and even though it was busy to lunch in a Sunday, it was still a very cozy feeling. We only got 2 dishes to share, but they were delicious! Our server mentioned how some of the specials/menu may change every few weeks based on customer requests. It's mostly Japanese, but some of the dishes or drink options sound Taiwan, Hong Kong, and/or Singapore inspired as well. We'll be back when we're hungrier to try other menu items! Also super cute because one of the kids from another table was interested in a bear plush at the table next to us (a bare bear I think?). Anyway, it was very cute!

Yelp
Came here with a colleague right at opening on a Saturday. Parking here was kinda iffy but we managed (there was some construction going on in the plaza). The interior of the restaurant is really nice and it gives a homey feel here. It was really cozy! There aren't too many tables here, but during my visit the restaurant did not completely full up. I ended up ordering the duck ramen here and got a HK iced coffee as a drink here. The food came in a reasonable time and I enjoyed the the amount of green onions that were plopped in here haha. The ramen itself was fine but the broth was really good. It has a subtle clam taste to it at the beginning but I may have kept drinking it. I do think for the price ($19.50), they should have added more noodles to it but that's fine. After getting everything I went to the front to pay for the meal by pointing to the table. Was not sure if that was the way to do it.

Yelp
This place really is a hidden gem tucked in an unassuming plaza. Plenty of parking even on the weekend. I loved the interior of the place. It's really cute, warm and cozy. The atmosphere was very lax and I was able to choose my own seating. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. I didn't have much expectation besides my curiosity for the duck ramen, which is what I ordered. Though, I would've liked to try their appetizers if I wasn't dining alone. After trying the dish, I wouldn't consider it a "ramen" to be honest. The taste and feel is more reminiscent of a Vietnamese dish called "Mì Vịt Tiềm". But to comment on the dish itself, it was really good. The duck added a smokiness to the broth, but it wasn't overpowering. The green onion garnish added a springy light taste that helped cut the broth. Everything was seasoned well.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Yakamoz, and the food never disappoints. The first time I ordered their staple, the Duck Ramen and it was light, but good. They use fresh made buckwheat noodles. This time around I decided to try their Prawn Laksa Noodles since it new on menu and has a daily limit of 10 bowls made per day. The food as always was good and broth is more curry like. My husband got their Hainan Chicken Plate and he enjoyed it as well. We also got their fried tofu with a sauce thry use, it was good as well. We ended up ordering the taro coconut dessert which was pretty good as well and a good palette cleanser. Please also keep in mind sometimes the menu rotates or changes so what you try might not be on the menu or there will be something new. I really like this concept, it keeps the menu interesting makes me feel like I am always trying something new. The interior is nicely decorated filled with some nice art and paintings. Would recommend to come try this place.

Yelp
What a cute little spot! It presents as a quirky and quaint cafe that plays great music :) their duck ramen is yummy (says my husband - I unfortunately couldn't eat it due to the oyster broth and shrimp wontons). They had a really interesting take on Taiwanese beef noodle soup, using ramen noodles. You have a choice of noodles, though, but I appreciated the chewiness of the ramen noodles. Service was great, even with just one server! Kudos to her. Highly recommend if you get the chance!

Yelp
The ambiance is absolutely adorable! It really feels like you're in someone's cozy living room having homemade food. There are only a few tables. We got lucky because we were early for dinner. My husband loved the beef curry and the fried shrimp appetizer. I had the duck ramen and I liked it although I thought it could've been more flavorful. The rose tea was served in a cute little teapot and it was very tasty. The service was very friendly and we didn't have to wait too long for our food.

Yelp
This is a cute little shop that gives cozy vibes, perfect for a rainy day. They are not Japanese-owned, but the interior is cute and they are welcoming. The ambiance and service are comforting too. FAVORITE ITEMS: - Duck Ramen: flavorful, not too salty. My only gripe here is the portion, but they say they use top ingredients so this is possibly where the trade off is. - Beef Curry: the beef chunks here are actually pretty tender and yummy. The curry is flavorful. ** I was not as much of the fan of the Wagyu ramen - it was ordinary and did not impress me. PARKING: it is located in a plaza, usually pretty busy, so you may have to wait around to find a spot. PRICE: a bit steep for how much ramen is in the bowl, in my opinion - the cost is about $19 but the amount in each bowl is not too much. Overall, new concept that is bringing hearty ramen -- it is a small spot though, so if it gets any busier, it may be harder to bring people in.

Yelp
Duck Ramen? I've tried duck rice noodles and duck wonton noodles but duck Ramen is a first for me. The broth was delicious and the duck slices is perfectly cooked and juicy as hell! I still want to say wonton noodles fit duck more but Ramen isn't that far off from it because their chewy bouncy texture is pretty good compliment to the duck. Also tried their laksa. Is spicy but so flavorful. If you like laksa and don't mind a bit spicy, try it! It'll save you a trip to Singapore to get good laksa. Is limited per day though so good luck! Service is pretty fast but they don't have that many seat so it can get quite crowded. The owners here are amazing and passionate about food. That's exactly what I want to see from restaurant I visit!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this quaint and intimate place for dinner on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised with the food, service, and ambiance. Their signature dish is a Duck Ramen presented in a clam broth. My husband got the Duck Ramen for $19.50. The bowl looked small but held a lot of noodles, slices of duck, green onion, seaweed, and bamboo shoots. The broth was really good! Went down smooth, very flavorful, not too salty, and the duck was delicious. Not tough at all. I got their Steak Salad ($18) which comes with thinly sliced Wagyu Beef, olive oil, greens, nuts, and fruit. It was very refreshing, slightly sweet, and surprisingly filling. Their menu includes other items like curry, other types of salad, small bites such as wings, and rice dishes. There is ample parking in the lot in front and dessert places nearby.

Yelp
Arrived for dinner on a Saturday night and were seated right away. There were several parties who arrived after us that had to wait for tables to open up. Server was very nice. The restaurant is not very big and has interesting decor. We ordered the duck and Wagyu Ramen, along with the Karaage. Karaage ended up arriving after the Ramen, but it was easily one of the best we've ever had. It's also not cheap, at $15, but you get a pretty big amount. Both Ramens were delicious. Due to a chared tomato (I think), the Wagyu Ramen ends up with a pizza flavor. This is a bit weird, so I'd recommend eating the tomato first. The broth was very deep with flavor, though. The duck Ramen was more seafood salty, but not fishy. Deep flavor, as well. Both Ramen comes with thin noodles, and you get a bunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Super homey feel and atmosphere. The designing and furniture is impeccable. There's only about 6-7 tables so I'm sure rush hours get crowded. Service was good. Food was delicious. I prefer the duck because the Wagyu just reminds me of pho. Parking is somewhat limited I think because it's in a smaller plaza. Definitely will come back and try the curry.

Yelp
Really really really good noodles!!! Truly artisan, handmade with high quality flour. You can tell that they use very fresh and high quality ingredients. First time here, we ordered the duck ramen. The duck was well cooked and tender - very flavorful! The second time here, we ordered the beef noodles, prawn laksa, and honey BBQ wings. All are worth trying. The prawn laksa was very flavorful and the spiciness was perfect. The place is kid friendly too as my 4yo really loves coming here and pretending she's a baby sitting in her special high chair.

Yelp
Super cute and homey family run restaurant. Tried a lot of items, but i only managed a few pictures before devouring the rest. Service was amazing and food was delicious. -happy fries -signature wings* -garden Salad* -Stir fried veggies* -Wasabi edamamae -wagyu beef ramen -beef brisket rice* -Grilled squid* -signature milk tea Food here is a bit of taiwanese/japanese fusion. Definitely recommend trying anything on the menu, but slight emphasis on the starred items. The grilled squid was my favorite dish. It's sweet/savory. The squid itself is very soft and the bonito/garlic chunks took on the sauce very well. The Garden salad was also lovely. Light, refreshing, and full of delightlful bites of fruit. I was really looking forward to the wagyu ramen...it was still very good but I dint think "wagyu ramen" captures it accurately for flavor. Felt more like a beef noodle soup. Broth was more on the tomato-ee side and beef wasn't tender/fatty enough to be considered as actual "wagyu". That being said, it's still very good. Noodles have a great texture and Broth itself is flavorful/deep/slightly acidic from the tomato.

Yelp
This place was so cool, it feels like a hidden gem in the middle of cookie cutter Irvine. The food was incredible and unique- you can taste that "homemade" aspect that just makes it so much better. The ambiance was so fun. It's a pretty small place but it feels so cozy and kind of just like you're at grandmas house or something (and you have a really cool grandma). Perfect for date night or small groups. The staff was very nice and helpful and clearly cared a lot about the food and service. Kinda wanna gate keep this one but they deserve the hype!! If you have a bit of a higher expectation for your food, this is the place for you!

Yelp
We came when it just opened. Place looked clean. most of the tables were too big n bulky. They prob could accommodate more people if they changed to different tables. There were only 2 types of ramen. Wagyu or duck. We got both. The wagyu ramen: Pro: wagyu was very tender. Noodle was cooked al dente. Con: the soup base tasted like pizza flavored. Duck ramen: Pro: the soup base was not bad. Duck was good but some pieces had cartilages which was not easy to chew. Con: the duck prob needed more seasoning. We also got Grilled Squid. Flavor was nice. There was a hint of satay flavor but the dish was more sweeter than I'd would have liked. Service was decent but the wait for the food was long. We all waited for at least 25 min for the appetizer to come out.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in Irvine! I love how cozy it feels inside. It has a unique charm that I feel is missing with a lot of the newer restaurants in the area. We ordered the Wagyu Beef Brisket Noodles and Signature Duck Ramen. They had make their noodles, and we were lucky enough to be seated by the window looking into the kitchen where we could watch the noodle making process. Between the two, I preferred the Signature Duck Ramen. The broth was delicious and I felt like they gave you a generous amount of duck. The broth for the Wagyu Beef Brisket Noodles is a bit tomato-y. I enjoyed it, but something to consider if that is not your preference. Portions were great and I felt full after my meal. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I love being able to talk to staff about each item. They gave us recommendations about what to order and whether something was spicy or not spicy. Definitely recommend giving this place more love!

Yelp
I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised how good this place was. We came here on Sunday right on opening time and were seated right away. Its a really cozy and small restaurant. The interior was giving me Thai vibes but I realized that it's more like Taiwanese, especially when I noticed traditional chinese characters on the menu and in the decor. Also, the waitress spoke Chinese as well. I loved the menu because it's small and simple, so you know the quality will be great. The duck ramen was super delicious. The combination of the scallion and duck went extremely well, along with the perfect chew of the ramen noodles. I saw behind the glass that they used einkorn organic flour, which is surprising because that is a really good quality flour. The chicken karaage was also a great choice. Probably the best karaage around. This was perfectly fried and the chicken was super tender. I see this place as a taiwanese/japanese fusion. We did wait a little long for our food, but the quality of the food made up for it. Definitely worth the visit.

Yelp
Ramen is often the LAST thing I seek for a meal, but after coming to Yakamoz in Irvine, I might be a changed man! This spot is a Ramen shop with Cantonese flavors and a Turkish name! Talk about a melting pot! The decor is absolutely adorable, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Something about it screams nostalgia. I can't put my finger on it To start, we got a couple of drinks, like a mint lime soda and a milk tea. Not much to say, but if you're thirsty, we heard there's some fantastic hot teas that you can grab a pot of. That being said, let's talk noms. I got the duck ramen, which came with green onions, bamboo shoots, and these gorgeous slices of duck breast. Perfectly lightly pink and tender throughout. Wowzers. This is something else. The broth is so light, and it's not at all reminiscent of those heavier ramens like tonkotsu. Really refreshing. The next dish was the Wagyu beef ramen. Look at the mound of cilantro that comes on here! I'm not the biggest fan normally, but something here kinda works! It's got a wonderfully rich broth, but not toooooo rich hahahaha. And look at these beef slices. They're thinly sliced, but so substantial in flavor, that I don't think that's a bad thing. This is a place that I really do want to come back to. Their entire menu looks wonderful, and it also rotates pretty often, I'm told! If you love noodles and soup and you're lacking those, go ahead and scooch on over to Yakamoz!

I would give this place 3.5 stars. Tried this place recently and food was okay. The duck ramen have a seafood broth with strong flavor, but it was really salty. There was only 3 or 4 very thin slices of duck and it just didn't seem to be worth the premium price for the portion size. We also tried the beef stew rice which had good flavor, but again, portion is so small for the price. The chicken curry was pretty standard. Nothing great but nothing bad. There is a tiny hint of spice to it, which was just a bit too much for my child who can't handle any spice, so be aware. Over all, the food tastes fine, but I think we all left not feeling full. Not sure if we will be coming back when there are many other choices around at that price point and type of food/ quality.

Yelp
This place is such a hidden gem! The food was tasty and the environment was just so cozy. I ordered the Signature Duck Ramen, which has such a lovely broth and perfectly cooked slices of duck. The noodles were very good as well and you can tell that the ingredients were super fresh, down to the green onions garnished on top. My friend got the Wagyu Beef Ramen, which she said was also very good. This place is very comfortable and has a quaint feel with all the interior furnishings. The music was good and the volume was perfect for nice conversations over a meal. The staff was super thoughtful too. I had brought a gift for my friend and we didn't have space for the bag so one of the staff brought over a small stool for us to place the gift bag on. Everything about this place felt so intentional and thoughtful, I'm eager to go back and try the other menu items soon!

Yelp
Food*****// we both ordered duck ramen it was amazing. Can definitely feel the heart in this bowl from each little details. Broth was deep and with all umami in it unlike other places and meat was tender and crispy outside. I'll try their wagyu next time and look forward for their creation up next Service*****// it was my pleasure to meet Sherry, enjoy talking to her and share the love she has towards life. It's not an everyday experience but I'm grateful today that we can all spend time together listening to music and talk about the things we enjoy Ambiance*****// its warm feeling and authenticity makes me love this place. It's soothing when you walk in and want to spend more time here. It's a family owned business and I hope it can thrive with the community through years to come

Yelp
Yakamoz Craft Ramen is the newest ramen spot in the Irvine area and the next rising star restaurant! This family owned spot is hosting a a very cozy and homey ambiance with some comforting yet innovative flavors! This spot is located in the Stonecreek plaza where there are a good amount of parking spots. Parking can get tight depending on the time you stop by. Wifey and I came through for dinner around 7pm and there was about a 10-15 minute wait. Inside, the spot is on the smaller side with only about 5-6 tables for seating. They have a very homey ambiance with some eclectic decor and some vibey tunes bumping on their vinyl player. As for their menu, they have a seasonal and thoughtfully crafted menu with different appetizers, ramen, and rice dishes. We opted to try the Signature Duck Ramen, Wagyu Beef Ramen, Karaage, and a Signature Milk Tea. Everything we had was delicious and we could taste the quality and craftsmanship with every bite. Overall, this spot is definitely up next! The owners of the shop are some of the most kind and friendly people you will come across. The Signature Duck and Wagyu Beef Ramens are both must try dishes! The amazing handcrafted texture of the noodles, the tenderness of the meats, and the rich flavorful broths create the perfect harmony. We are so glad we got the chance to check this spot and will definitely be back to continue supporting this awesome family owned business!

Yelp
Trying the newest ramen spot in Irvine! At the time of visit, they were still in soft opening. While the restaurant is small with only 6ish tables, the interior is homey with classical music playing in the background. The owner was friendly and passionate about her craft. She walked us through the menu, which she mentioned will change seasonally based on the ingredients on hand. She said that they make their noodles in house using 4 different types of flour, and the wagyu beef ramen and brisket rice sell out quickly. We ordered the signature duck ramen and wagyu beef ramen. Service was a little slow, as they were still getting into the swing of things. The wagyu beef ramen came first, and they also provided a side of pickled radish for every table. There was a mix up amongst orders so unfortunately the signature duck ramen didn't arrive until after the first bowl was finished. The duck pieces were tender and flavorful, and the thin noodles were a nice al dente. The broth was savory and clean, with a hint of seafood taste (I think scallop), although I wasn't able to finish the soup as it got pretty salty. Overall, good food but portions are on the smaller side given price - you are definitely paying for the quality over quantity.

Yelp
The restaurant is small but nicely decorated. The food was okay. Nothing that really stood out. I found the service lacking. It was slow. There were tables that needed cleaning up because there were customers waiting but the hostess kept talking to another employee instead. They brought my food out first and it was quite a bit later when they brought out my friend's food. I don't think I will be back. There are better ramen places.

Yelp
A cozy ramen shop in Irvine that makes you feel right at home! Upon entering you will see several mix matched tables and chairs with a variety of seating arrangements -perfect for eating alone or in a group. We received a bean sprout salad that was refreshing and complicated our meal. DON'T SLEEP ON THE KARAAGE. The batter used to fry the chicken was divine! It hit all of my requirements for fried food -light, airy, not oily, and crispy . They offer two ramen options: Signature Duck Ramen and Wagyu Beef Ramen. I opted for the Signature Duck Ramen and was not disappointed at all. Noodles are made in-house and taste amazing. The broth contains shellfish, but its flavor is subtle, not overpowering. If anything, it leaves a pleasant, lingering taste after each sip. The sharpness of the green onions enhanced the broth, adding a slightly sweet and fresh flavor with every bite. 10/10 would get this again. H.K. Iced Lemon Tea - not too sweet, strong tea flavor with lemon. Our server was super sweet and gave us a free ice tea because she made an extra one. I will definitely be back. I'm curious about the wagyu and curry

Yelp
Wow. I was actually really surprised. Kinda gave up on ramen in the US but this was fantastic. Duck ramen was yummy, beef noodle was def canto style but also really great. They make their bowls super hot which I can't find anywhere around here. The noodles are excellent made in house. Whole bowl was balanced. Love the vibes. Surprised by how good the HK milk tea was, it's way better than lots of traditional HK cafes.

Yelp
Yamamoz is a very nice restaurant with a refreshing alternative to traditional Japanese ramen. Everyone in my party enjoyed this restaurant, particularly the broth. The duck ramen had a clear broth that's seasoned well and wasn't creamy or oily. The meat portion is large, with 6 pieces of duck meat. However, there's a bit of gaminess to it. The noodles are hand made with duck eggs and well portioned. It might be a bit small for a large adult though. Extra noodle costs $5 extra. Server was nice and could speak multiple languages. The check came with a huge leaf which was funny. Decent service for a casual sit down restaurant.

Yelp
Just found this place by work this week, and today is my third time back for the duck ramen! Great broth, duck is tender, noodles are fresh, good portion size (not too much food). Love it! Their HK lemon iced tea is super refreshing as well! The owner(?)/staff are super nice. Definitely adding this place on our dinner rolodex.

Yelp
Great ramen!! Took a minute to get my food (duck ramen) but it was super busy so I didnt mind. Delicious broth and noodles. The duck I think could have been a bit better... maybe some seasonings? Im not sure. But service was FANTASTIC and they were all super knowledgeable about the food. I saw a few fried plates come out of the kitchen and man... i wish I had the room to try some of it for myself. Cute place with great ambiance.

Yelp
The newest ramen spot in town and already it has my heart. Although they're opened by Taiwanese people, the vibe is completely not; it's just cozy, homey, and makes me truly feel like I'm back in Taiwan. We tried both ramens and they're both good (rich and deep in flavor), and the meats are cooked so tenderly. The waiters/waitresses are so attentive and make sure that things are cooked to their standard, which I love. I'm already looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Food So thankful to find this place! Both signature ramens are good but I prefer the duck. The beef is good as well but it doesn't have a "ramen" flavor. The noodles in the ramen had the right amount of firmness with just a bit of chew. The dressing on the green salad was delicious. But the best thing had to be the karaage. It's juicy, savory and crispy! I would go so far to say it's the best I've had. Service The service was very friendly and attentive. I asked about a few of the dishes and I really got the sense that they put a lot of effort into their dishes. Ambience It's a small place but very clean with a unique style. They were playing Air Supply on vinyl so they should get a bonus for that! Highly recommend Yakamoz!

Yelp
After trying duck ramen in Japan, I was so excited to see a place for duck ramen had opened up in Irvine. My mom and I came on a Friday night and the place was packed but we only had a 10 minute wait. The layout of the restaurant is interesting, with oddly-shaped tables and number of chairs which made seating parties inefficient. The two waitstaff seemed very stressed and kept forgetting things, like bringing us our menus and taking our orders. They kept rushing around to each table, and the whole restaurant was very loud. I think the food was pretty good though and I enjoyed trying it. I don't think it's worth the $19.50 price tag, with only 3 small pieces of duck and I was still hungry afterwards. The food is the reason for my rating, and hopefully their service improves.

Yelp
Four stars for the food + lovely, cozy, and unique interior. The duck was tender and tasty, but the broth was a little salty. They also highlight their ramen noodles made in house, but I found them a bit soggy and lacking chewiness. Knocking off a star because I arrived for a later lunch and was initially the only customer in the restaurant, but my one bowl literally took 35 minutes to come out.

Yelp
I have to give 5 star to this Classy toilet and comfy decoration! The owner has very good taste on the choice of furniture. Even the small detail like little light when door open is on point. I love the pick of the diffuser they use, it gives very calm vibe. Also very clean. As an Asian owned restaurant, Owner is willing to spend more on little detail. Staff is very friendly like your neighbor who occasionally say hi in the morning when you walk by. Toilet: 5/5 clean, classic, detail oriented Food: 4/5 my favorite is the duck. Duck is good. On the pricier side with small portion Staff: 6/5 friendly, neighbor vibe, wifey material

Yelp
Food, service, atmosphere are all excellent! The duck ramen is very good, the broth is amazingly delicious and wont be a burden even if you finish to the last drop. Noodles is freshly made and cooked to perfection. The ambiance is great, you can tell the owner has good taste. Service is quick and very welcoming. For sure will be back!
