One of my favourite dinners we've ever had in San Diego. We were seated at the bar, but with the dividers they placed it felt very intimate still, and we loved watching the chefs cook. The meal is very intentional, with each item paced perfectly. Everything is delicious and the sake menu is also great, and very detailed about flavor profiles. My only complaint is the server argued with me about the sake I wanted to order, which was a little odd (it was a great choice by the way). Make a reservation just in case because the restaurant is very small and fills fast, but definitely well worth the stop.

Google
We reserved for 4 with two birthdays in our group last night, all the food was amazing and the sake selection was very good, decided on a bottle of the black dragon, the beef tongue was my personal favorite paired with the yuzu sauce, kimchi had a great flavor to pair with everything. I had a peach shochu drink and it was smooth. Ended the dinner with their ice cream, sesame and lychee sorbet are their options, had one of each, sesame was light and lychee was sweet (my favorite) The service was amazing, the staff would check on us frequently. I can't say enough great things about this place.

Google
We love Yakitori Taisho! It’s quick and easy to call a few days or a week in advance to book a reservation. If you’re sitting for just two, we recommend sitting by the bar and seeing the action. Some of our favorites: * Deep Fried Garlic * Chicken Skin * Pork Jowl * Quail Egg * Yellowtail * Chicken wings!

Google
Top notch! The best Yakitori place I've eatin! Everything was perfect. The timing of the food coming out was on point, and each dish was carefully prepared. Servers checked on you on a great rotation. If you want a place to go and have some fantastic food, this is a must in SD.

Google
One of best Yakitori shop in SD and had to come back for a nice review. The skewers were amazing as always and most dishes are excellent quality. I love their chicken liver and beef tongue the most. We definitely love the food but server unfortunately was too busy so they forgot one of my order. No biggie though

Megan

Google
THE BEST yakitori in San Diego. Everything is seasoned to perfection every time. The vibe is immaculate. It's small, high energy and loud, the perfect place to get a beer (or 5) and enjoy the night with great food. We buy the kitchen beer/sake from time to time and it's really fun when they take a break to drink with you! Our go to items: - Taisho Style Shrimp Spring Rolls - Chicken vein, heart, gizzard - Bacon wrapped asparagus - Beef with daikon radish and wasabi - Beef tongue The service is also really good! They are knowledgeable about the food and sake and can recommend items based on preference.

Google
Almost didn’t want to write this review so I can gate keep this place. But it was too good to not write a positive review to encourage the staffs! Food was amazing, our server (Mar) was my new best friend , and everyone else was respectful, friendly and wearing a smile while working a busy night . The food was extra tasty because it was made with love and a sense of home . Thank you everyone for the great dinning experience, we will definitely come back!

Google
My husband & I have been chasing the flavors of Japan, since we got back to the states last week & we found 'em . This place nailed it. I recommend making a reservation, but we were seated within an hour, of making a walk-up res. We got 2 of the last 4 orders of chicken skin to start, & it stopped us dead in our tracks. Love at first bite, which set the tone for the rest of our meal. Every. Single. Thing. was incredible. We even went so far as to agree that their liver was better than our favorite izakaya's- which is massively difficult to achieve. We will forever be guests of this lovely spot. Brusslesprouts - to die for. Liver - melts in your mouth. Yuzu chili paste - give me 77 of these. Chicken meatballs- I ordered 4 sets to myself. & the staff is unmatched!!! We never needed for anything & our table outside had TWO heaters. I love this for us!!

Yelp
If you're in the mood for a special treat or planning a date night, Yakitori Taisho is worth a visit. The skewers are charcoal-grilled to perfection, and every one I've tried has been good, with a particular fondness for the pork belly. It's worth noting that vegetarian options are limited, so plan accordingly. For those who enjoy sake, Yakitori Taisho offers a nice selection that complements their menu nicely. The staff are polite, and the service is attentive, particularly in helping guests select the perfect sake to accompany their meal. Reservations are recommended, especially for parties of three or more. While it's possible to walk in as a party of one or two, it's always a good idea to call ahead. The restaurant is small and seating is limited. Expect to pay at least 50 dollars per person especially if you're trying some sake. While I think it's worth a visit this is not a budget option. ---

Yelp
What a phenomenal place! The chefs are very interactive with the patrons sitting at the bar! You can even buy them a bier! Pls do! You won't regret it! The squid legs and Japanese sausage are delicious! If the bonito fish is available, do yourself a favor and get it! Service is spot on, chefs/servers are all Super attentive and friendly!

Yelp
Came here to have a quick anniversary dinner with my gf late night. Yakitori here is 5/5. Fried garlic was one of our favorites Service was good overall even though we came a little before they did last call. They have outside seating with heaters. The inside is small/cozy. A great place for late night food / beer. Overall been here multiple times and was always a good experience. One of the better yakitori places in SD

Yelp
We were craving yakitori and this place REALLY hit the spot. Talk about a hole in the wall... Yakitori Taisho is in the corner of a shopping plaza, next to a barber shop. There's a solid amount of parking as well, which is hard to find in this area. The restaurant itself is tiny so try to make a reservation. We showed up at 5:15, 15 mins after opening, and there was no inside availability so we sat outside. We ordered chicken heart, gizzard, vein, skin, thigh, beef tongue, beef with wasabi, pork neck, squid, and scallops. My top 3 were: 1. Beef tongue: thick, juicy slices of beef tongue grilled to perfection. I intentionally ordered one more right at the end so I could end my meal with this bite. SO GOOD. 2. Pork belly with shiso: fat pinwheels of pork belly with shiso leaf, topped with plum sauce. Such a satisfying mouthful of unctuous savory pork belly. It had the perfect balance of meat to fat as well. 3. Chicken Gizzard: again, cooked super perfectly with a little char but not dried out. Perfectly seasoned and addicting to eat. Everything else was equally delicious, though I felt that the scallop and beef with wasabi could be skipped. We ordered the plum sauce, yuzu pepper, and fresh wasabi, and the three complimented pretty much all the meats so well. Do NOT forget to order the ochazuke (green tea rice) at the end. It's a super comforting bowl of rice with toppings (we got seaweed) and green tea. It was piping hot and insanely satisfying, rounding out the meal perfectly. We'll 100% be back!

Yelp
My new favorite yakitori place in SD! They have an amazing selection of sake and all the yakitori I tried here was amazing. My favorite by far was the pork belly shiso leaf so make sure to order that. The place is truly a hidden gem tucked away from the main Kearny Mesa area. The inside is pretty small but gives a very intimate vibe that is perfect for the whole experience. Recommend more for date nights and small groups. I wish I remembered his name but the chef cooking the yakitori truly made the experience for us. If you're lucky enough to sit at the bar in front of him, you're guaranteed to have a good time!

Yelp
I really like yakitori and this place is probably one of the best in San Diego. Parking is easy since it shares a big lot with a grocery store. I do recommend reservations though since it is a pretty busy but tiny restaurant. I believe it's just two chefs working but the food came out quick and the staff even considers how fast we are eating and grill accordingly. We tried almost everything on the menu but the chicken skin and the beef with radish were my favorite. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Katelyn R.

Yelp
Soooooo so good. Came here by myself and basically ordered everything on the menu. The chicken heart was REAL tender and the sake was bomb. I regret not getting more than one skewer of the chicken heart!!!! Service was phenomenal from the servers to the chef.

Yelp
Quality juicy meats on a stick, how can you go wrong. Yakitori Taisho did no wrong. We enjoyed all our meats with the yuzu, wasabi, and plum dips. All are worth adding to your order. You must finish your meal with the rice soups. Perfect way to complete the meal after the salty delicious meats. We got the green test seaweed and might have been the highlight for me. Below is my rankings for meat. 1) Beef Tongue 2) Pork neck 3) Pork Belly w shiso leaf 4) Chicken vein 5) Chicken Skin 6) Scallops 7) Chicken heart 8) Scallops 9) Squid legs 10) Beef w/ Wasabi We will definitely be returning to fill our meat cravings.

Yelp
Been coming here couple times, if we drove down to San Diego. The place requires reservations but worth it. What we order are all good. Skin, pork shiso, sausage. neck, belly beef with daikon, wasabi, tongue, scallops, whelk soy dashi sauce and many more. Service are great.. place is small typical Japanese yakitori.. parking no problem.
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food here! Kind of a hole in the wall, small place! The meats are really good! The soup was excellent. The plum wine is tasty! I only have good things to say about this place! It is a bit pricy, but the quality is good! Parking is easy.

Yelp
Tried Taisho for the first time last weekend and man did this place bring me back to Japan. The food was phenomenal! From the skewers and small plates to the different options of sake, everything was amazing. Service was also a solid 10/10, the waitress was very knowledgeable with the sake menu and the yakitori chef was funny as hell. Highly recommend this place and they take reservations! Would I go again? Absolutely!
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The inside is quite cozy so would definitely recommend making a reservation. We ordered a good amount of food to share amongst the six of us. Service was prompt and friendly. Would come back here if we were ever craving Yakitori again.

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant in SD!! We are big yakitori fans, especially of organ meat and we are SO thankful to have this restaurant in SD. It is THAT good. Tender, so flavorful and just an incredibly good time. The ambience is cozy and the staff are so kind and welcome! Their sake selection is also 10/10. Fav is silver mountain - it has such depth while also being so smooth. We always leave very excited to come back soon!

Yelp
My partner and I have come here wayy too many times to count... This is my all time favorite yakitori spot in SoCal! It's way too good. My partner and I make it a priority to visit here every time we're back in my hometown. It's hard to beat the quality and prices. Service is consistent, large parking lot available.

Yelp
The last time I've been to this place was at least 4 years ago. I was in the area visiting my family and we decided to come here for dinner. The place is really small so you definitely have to call in for a reservation. They also get pretty busy too. It's a nice, cozy, small place and everyone there is so friendly! From the servers to the cooks, we felt welcomed! Matt, our server was super attentive, nice, and took really care of our table! The premise is basically, you order from a list of yakitori items (essentially meats, seafood, etc grilled on skewer sticks). They make it fresh and bring it to your table as soon as the chef is done cooking. The chef we had that night grilled our items to perfection! We had the following skewers: Pork neck: 10/10 - if you never had pork neck, you are missing out. I was skeptical in getting it but I was so happy that I did! It was so juicy, flavorful, and the texture was SO GOOD!!! I don't know what glaze they put on it but oh my goodness, after the first bite, my eyes widened because it was that dang on delicious. The texture reminds me of eating really tender cartilage. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend this. Pork wrapped in shiso leaves and bacon: 10/10 - another one of my favorites from the night. It had beef wrapped with a layer of shiso leaves and bacon with umeboshi (salted plum) in the middle. It was decadent, juicy, and the umeboshi added this umami and tartness that brought all of the flavors together. The pork was extremely juicy and as I was eating it, I could see the juices falling on the plate. Grilled steak: 7/10 - I don't usually eat steak but this was grilled to perfection and a nice medium rare texture. I appreciate that they don't overcook the steak here. Grilled steak and pickled radish: 8/10 - Essentially the same as the grilled steak but served with a side of pickled radish. I enjoyed the radish as it provided a refreshing taste and palette cleanser after eating the steak. I didn't try the steak with wasabi but my sister and BIL said it was good and spicy! October: 8/10 - tender, juicy, and the tentacles weren't chewy at all! You could tell the octopus was fresh because it had no fishy aftertaste! Takoyaki: 9/10 - fluffy, stuffed with veggies and octopus and the batter was pan fried to a nice, golden, brown. It was soooo good! The toppings on top (bonito flakes, kewpie mayo, and eel sauce) tied it all together. I've had many takoyaki throughout my lifetime and this one is one of the better ones! Tip: definitely dip your skewers into the Togarashi powder (it's like a slightly spicy Japanese seasoning). It creates a medley of flavors and provides a nice contrast to the meat, seafood, etc. Overall, a wonderful place to socialize and grab some small bites! I thought I wouldn't get full off the skewers but I actually did haha. They give you decent portions and for a table of 3, we were all full. It ended costing us around $150 but it's not bad if you break it down for 3 people with alot of skewers!!! Note, I didn't mention all of the skewers that we got! Thank you Matt, chef, and the staff for making our visit so awesome! I'll come back every time I'm over in San Diego.

Yelp
Came here for a friends birthday on a Saturday night. Food: 5/5 Loved everything from the Kim chee, to the chicken hearts and gizzards and quail eggs and mushrooms. The oysters were the only thing that I'd say maybe the were just average but still pretty good. Sake was delicious too! Service: 5/5 They were friendly and attentive. Food came out promptly as well. Ambiance: 4/5 Very traditional from decor to menu. Seats were uncomfortable for some of the people in my group but I didn't have a problem (no back rest). I'd say this place has amazing food for the price point and I'd highly recommend this place if you're in town! I'd compare it to Torihei in Torrance which I love and Honda Ya in Tustin.

Yelp
OK WHERE DO I START. Hands down the best best best yakitori in north america. I have been to expensive and famous yakitori places such as Yakitori Torishin in NYC but that is not even on the same league here. The skewer master is a very professional lady who works wonder on every skewer she handed to me. I tear up every bite i took, and i know i will never go back to other yakitori places since they just all bad comparing to this one. I have literally tried every single skewer on the menu and nothing disappoints. In the end my wallet took a huge hit but i can sleep at peace. Definitely booking my flight back to San diego for this gem.

Yelp
Woah. Y'all been keeping things from me. We've been to the sister restaurants and enjoyed the heck out of them. But a last minute date night shot in the dark brought us here. Turns out they take reservations. Whoops. No problem we got seated outside with a heater. It was a full propane tank and scared me but it was fine and totally cool. The service was fantastic. We never went too long without being checked on. The Yakitori was on par with some of the best I've had. Their fish special was FIIIIIRE. Hubs and I said next time we each get our own. Can't wait to get back!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this spot. Great chicken and pork belly. The beef was okay. Get a bowl of rice, takowasa.

Yelp
Nestled in the corner of a small strip mall, Yakitori Taisho serves up great tasting yakitori with friendly and kind service. A friend made early reservations and we were delighted to be seated at the bar to watch them cook the yakitori. We had: Squid Chicken Thigh Pork Belly Bacon Wrapped Asparagus Beef Tongue Miso Black Cod Shishito in Dashi Oysters Everything was mouthwateringly, tasty and exceptional with my personal favorites being the beef tongue, miso black cod and bacon wrapped asparagus. The oysters were also very good. They are affiliated Yakyudori - and have other sister restaurants in SD as well as Japan. If you're looking for a great yakitori place with friendly vibes and excellent food, give Yakitori Taisho a try!
google avatar

Joel Y.

Yelp
Incredible. I've only tried Yakitori a couple of times at other restaurants, but none have "specialized" in it. My GF and I sat right in front of the grill where the chef could hand the skewers directly to us. The way the charcoal grill gives it that perfectly smoky flavor was pretty amazing. Every bite was bursting with flavor. I recommend the pork belly: simple but still so good. It's a pretty tiny place, looks like on weekends this could get quite busy. It was definitely pricey but with this kind of quality, I didn't mind at all. I'll definitely be coming back!!

Yelp
I can't recommend this place highly enough!! What a gem tucked away in a small plaza just a couple minutes off Convoy. The parking here is a breath of fresh air compared to the chaos on Convoy and is easy even on a Friday night. Lovely selection of sakes and the waiters and waitresses allow you to sample some sakes before you commit: the samples themselves were very generous pours which was a huge plus! Every single thing we tried was so flavorful, from the oysters to the veggies to the meats. I would highly recommend the shiitake mushrooms, eggplant, bacon-wrapped asparagus, raw oysters, and the beef/wasabi. At the end, try ordering a rice soup like the rice with seaweed and green tea which is the ultimate comfort food to top off your meal. Also 0.50cent sapporo beer if you post a picture of them on your instagram story! Note that though this place seems like a hole in the wall, the prices are not quite -- we paid around $30 per person (of note we did order 6oz sake to share as well) and we were still hungry by the end. But I still loved this place for the intimate setting and authentic feeling. It's a small space and they don't have too many seats so for peak times like Friday evening, you'll need to make a reservation (they don't do opentable or resy etc so you'll have to call in advance). Saw several parties get told there wouldn't be a table for 1-1.5 hours while I was dining there on a Friday evening. Absolutely worth coming here though!!! One of my new favorite places in SD.

Yelp
To the staff, I applaud you and appreciate you for serving me such delicious food. The servers and chefs are what makes the magic happen. They serve superb Yakitori, that it brings me back to the days I was living in Japan as a child. If you are in San Diego and are looking for authentic Yakitori and excellent service, please take the time to visit this oasis. I recommend making a reservation as the place is small and popular, but do not worry, setting up a reservation isn't a list where you have to wait years, months, weeks, and days. Thank you to the staff, you guys are amazing and meet the expectations of service. Cheers!
google avatar

Kimthy D.

Yelp
2nd attempt to dine in and learned my lesson to make a reservation. Some things came out a bit later than expected but all food was delicious and seasoned right. Only thing I like is crunchier chicken skin which was a bit underdone for me. Otherwise, love the free beer check in and everyone was so friendly, attentive, and nice. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Siu M.

Yelp
Back again with friends to try more stuff! Overall excellent quality food. Everyone agrees the favorite was the Taisho Shrimp Rolls
google avatar

Arleen A.

Yelp
Delicious straightforward simple Japanese skewers in a very small restaurant. I liked the chicken wing, pork neck, and takoyaki. Being an extremely impatient, thirsty and hangry person, the slow service and the wait for each little skewer to be made drove me to the brink of HangerHell.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
We go here all the time so this review is overdue. Beyond the amazing yakitori, Taisho transports you to Japan. It's in a rundown strip mall but becomes magical as you step in to this intimate space. We've never had a bad dish/skewer here. Staff is friendly. Sake options are awesome. A hidden gem in San Diego!
google avatar

Stephen L.

Yelp
Highly recommend reservations as this is a small but delicious place. A smaller offshoot of the many yakitori restaurants of this brand, this more intimate experience is a better date spot than the more casual feeling of Yakyudori. The food selection while somewhat small was expertly prepared and incredibly prompt, we were in and out in about an hour even with drinks and chatting. The sake selection isn't anything superbly notable, but the cocktail is nice if you like sweeter drinks.
google avatar

Alyx Z.

Yelp
Had it the previous time I was in San Diego, which was January 2024, and came back immediately the week I land back here in June 2024. The food was delicious and just authentic. Always loved the hole-in-the-wall aesthetic and ambience, fast service to even when it was full with people.

L V.

Yelp
Reservations are a must. No fuss, focused on high quality food. All staff super friendly.
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
The location looks a little sketchy, but don't let that fool you. The food is amazing. We tried a little of everything. One complaint would be the chicken is kind of dry and flavorless, the best was the beef with wasabi. The octopus with wasabi would be second best. The plum sauce was disgusting, I have never had it before so not sure if it was good and just not my taste or gross. Reservations are highly recommended as there was a wait shortly after we arrived.
google avatar

Jeanie A.

Yelp
The vibe, the music, the delicious bites... Everything about this place is spot-on. Super delish yakitori in Clairemont Mesa! We randomly came across this place while searching for Japanese cuisine in the area. This restaurant is a TRUE GEM that's tucked away in an unassuming place. It's off the beaten path so parking is plentiful, however a reservation is highly recommended. (We got super lucky walking in only 5-min after opening!) Our favorites were the eggplant (almost caramel-like!!!), Hokkaido scallops, and beef with radish. Don't forget to add sauces to your order! OISHI!!! Shoutout to Yakitori Taisho! We're coming back, but definitely calling in our reservation in advance.
google avatar

Kathleen W.

Yelp
My partner's friends happened to also visit the area so we were a group of five eating together on Halloween. When it came to tally the skewers, I think I practically tried almost the entire list. I have eaten at a handful of yakitori places and this place was heavenly. The veins, wings, heart, meatball, thigh, belly, neck, belly, plain beef and beef with radish, scallop and squid legs were all so good. We all had our own alcohol and my grape drink was too good.. The price is as good as a yakitori can get and I will be sure to come next time.
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Easily my favorite yakitori place. Small, unassuming, but intimate and authentic. Came here on a craving (FYI reservations are a must since space is limited- recommend calling a few days ahead) and was not disappointed. If you're lucky, you get to sit by the grill and see the action of the head chef master prep and cook all the skewers. Recommendations: - chicken heart - beef - wasabi octopus - kaarage chicken - Chu hi drinks (peach oolong) - asparagus Better to underorder and add more than to overorder A fun experience to share with a friend :)
google avatar

Alexis S.

Yelp
great location for sit down yakitori and a drink. Try whatever your belly desires but dont forgot to wash it down with your favorite drink.
google avatar

Damon R.

Yelp
I love this place! The food and service is phenomenal! I strongly recommend this place!

A C.

Yelp
First time trying Yakatori. Awesome experience. Fun small space, ate at bar and watched chef non-stop grilling skewers to perfection. We enjoyed every skewer ordered...chicken vein, skin, liver, thigh, meatball, and breast. Servers were super nice and helpful. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Quan N.

Yelp
Great spot for yakitori. All the food we ordered were great, we really like grilled scallops and fried shrimp rolls. However, service could be better. There was a little mold spot on the grape tomatoes they used for fried shrimp rolls dish. I notified the waitress, she ignored it and said it wouldn't affect the salads or the rolls that came with it. No apologies whatsoever. We had to ask for the dish to be taken off our bill. I know it's very common for tomatoes to get moldy, and yes mistakes happen. But I hope management will have a better approach for cases like this, unless serving moldy ingredients is a norm here.

Yelp
First off, one of the best meals I've had in over a year at least. Insanely memorable. We lucked out snagging a table on a Saturday night, definitely call ahead a day in advance to guarantee a spot. We got a table outside which I was a little worried about, but the fresh air was nice, and they had plenty of heat lamps. They've got a solid menu, every single yakitori I ordered was a hit. They've got a great selection of chicken, pork, beef, and sea food. All of the chicken yakitori was my personal favorite. They were serving super tasty oyesters on the specials as well. Also first time I've had Takowasa outside of Japan and I ordered two because it was so easy to eat. Drinks were great and cheap. Our server was knowledgeable, quick, and friendly, and the whole staff was super cool the night we came in. Can't wait to come back... definitely a meal to remember.
google avatar

Yumi B.

Yelp
I went here pretty late and had a great time sitting outside. The service was a bit slow. The waitress was excellent, and it made up for the wait. The selection of sake blew my mind! I think I liked the sake more than the yakatori. Everything I had was absolutely delicious. I was surprisingly kind of hidden.

Yelp
Yakitori Taisho has always been given high appraise by friends and other foodies, but until my boyfriend and I finally got to experience it for ourselves, we didn't realize what we were missing out on. - PARKING - Shares a parking lot with other businesses, and there's plenty of space! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - We made a reservation over the phone about a week out and solidified a spot for 5:30pm. When we arrived, it was fairly empty, although as time got closer to 6pm, it became a lot busier. We got lucky and landed the two seats right in front of the grill! Chef Yas and Chef Yaki were very friendly throughout our dinner, and we enjoyed their hospitality. It's a very small restaurant, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation! - FOOD - It was our first time here so we ordered the entire menu to get a taste of everything... there were no regrets! Our favorites were: - Beef Tongue: SUPER tender!! - Chicken Vein: Never had this any where else before, and it was such an interesting piece of the chicken! It had a nice char as well. - Chicken Neck: I'm usually not a fan of fatty pieces, but this had a really nice flavor to it! - Pork Shiso: Loved the addition of the plum on top. - special: Braised Beef Tongue - the wasabi broth is REALLY wasabi-y but so good! Definitely never seen any where else! - OVERALL - I 10000% agree Taisho is the best Yakitori spot I've had here in San Diego! I loved the hospitality and loved all the food we tried. I will absolutely come back again!

Yelp
super hole in the wall izakaya restaurant in San Diego! I love how it's more towards clairemont mesa than convoy so there's an abundant amount of parking made a reservation so we got seated pretty quickly. server explained the menu/concept and recommended us some items! we ordered the karage, beef tongue, beef, chicken thigh, and pork belly skewers which was the perfect amount of food imo. Karage was okay, I'd try something else on the menu LOL but the skewers were a chefs kiss - especially the plum sauce on the pork belly! would definitely recommend this spot and come back again

Yelp
For those of you who live within a reasonable distance from this wonderful restaurant, YOU ARE LUCKY! This yakitori bar is AWESOME! If you are searching for an authentic Japanese yakitori experience, THIS IS IT! The food was utterly SUPERB. I had mostly chicken skewers, although they also offer pork, some vegetable (and perhaps others). Every single one of my chicken skewers was simply sublime and tasted exactly like the wonderful yakitori I have enjoyed in Tokyo. They have a wonderful beer and sake selection. TREAT YOURSELF! The staff was also TREMENDOUS in every single way. What else can I say other than I rate this restaurant a full 5 out of 5, and I would rate it 10 out of 10 if Yelp allowed me to do so. As you can tell, I LOVE this place and can't wait to return again when I am in the area.

Yelp
The best yakitori I've ever had!! The food was delicious, the service was good, and the ambiance was so nice. We ordered a lot and I didn't get a picture of everything because it was so yummy. We ordered chicken heart, gizzard, liver, skin, and meatballs, quail eggs, beef tongue, beef with daikon, beef with wasabi, plan beef, scallops, mushrooms, Brussel sprouts, pork belly, sausages, and house ponzu, yakitori sauce, and plum sauce. We also got the pickle plate and takoyaki. Everything was so amazing. The beef tongue especially blew me away because it was so tender and flavorful. The chicken hearts were also tender and had an amazing flavor. The liver was my least favorite. The gizzard was surprisingly very delicious and I would have it again. The skin was juicy and crispy what you expect it to be. The meatballs were super juicy and delicious. The quail eggs were soft boiled and had such amazing flavor. All the beef we had was amazing. I loved all three sauces but especially the ponzu and the plum sauce. The plum sauce was so tart and very authentic. The Brussel sprouts and mushroom were also incredible. I love pickles so the pickle plate was really refreshing and delicious. The pork belly is apparently one of the best things on the menu. Everyone at the table loved it. I didn't try any because I don't eat pork. We also got some sakes and they were all great. Everyone loved the takoyaki as well. The chef also came out to ask everyone how everything is. Would 100% recommend this restaurant. And it's small in there so definitely make a reservation.

Yelp
Easily the best yakitori place in the San Diego surrounding areas. If you're getting the skewers, get the different dipping sauces, they are amazing!

Yelp
I don't think I have enough nice things to say about this place. Staff is immaculate, service is top-notch, food is amazing, what more could you want. We have been coming here for almost a year. They've never missed with recommending the best sake to pair with a specific item on the menu. Susan is a gal who has served us. Genuine, kind, and caring. Definitely someone who has made it so easy for us to come back here. She makes the best recommendations and knows what's great. You'll be so lucky to have met someone like her. Aki and Yaz never fails to make this place feel like home from the way they would greet us from the time it is to say goodbye. You can tell (outside of us) they make their guest feel like their at home. We were happy to see Matt return because he's also a great server. He's very genuine and kind. And so is Chania. The staff here is amazing and compassionate. They never turn a blind eye and recommend great things. You'll never find a better yakitori spot but I'm biased. Please give this place a go. You really won't get disappointed.

Yelp
This place is small and quaint, so I recommend reservations. I called ahead like 45 minutes and ask if I could reserve a table and they kindly obliged. Staff were all extremely helpful and had great recommendations. We ordered a variety, just to try it all. The top two winners were the plain beef and the pork belly with shiso leaf. We also got the house hot sake and it was very nice. Since all the bites are small, it's easy to under order. Luckily, you can order more and it comes out so quick!! One thing to consider, this is kinda pricy for amount of food.

Yelp
This place definitely had the "parts" I was looking for when it comes to yakitori. Parts being chicken hearts, gizzard, liver, etc. And for the first time ever, I tried chicken "veins", the part that's connected to the heart. We ordered a side of the Japanese pickles to balance all the grilled meat. I didn't like the pickles as much as I thought I would, it wasn't tart but somewhat sweet. I prefer my pickles sour! It was nice to watch the chef grill our parts in front of us since we sat at the bar. The yakitori chef was super friendly and we had a nice chat!
