This is a fast casual joint with well made, fresh healthy food and good service. I imagine the rest of the locations follow the formula, but I specifically went to the Burbank Empire Center location.
Items are available as a pita sandwich, platter or salad. They also offer bulk platters for family meals.
Meals are about $10.
If I worked nearby, I'd frequent here or get takeout for dinner. For a lone traveler stuck in one of the hotels adjacent to this shopping center as I was, this is a healthy alternative to the strip mall restos like Olive Garden. They have $5 draft wines and beer as a bonus and the ambiance is chill enough to make it a casual dinner spot.
Of my meal: The falafel was cooked perfect. I got the Shalafel which gets you half falafel, half chicken shawarma. For veg sides, I had carrots slaw and beet kale salad, were both flavorful and tasted farm fresh. I also chose the lentils and rice. My platter came with so many sides I actually skipped the pita, definitely a full value meal.
They also claim local sources of the ingredients. Unlike *some other chains, in this case I believe it. The ingredients truly tasted farm fresh.
Dessert choices are simple but appropriate: baklava, chocolate chip cookie or Greek frozen yogurt-which you can get baklava crumbles on! I wish I'd had room.
Oh did I mention they have great service? Employees were friendly and efficient. Two of them double checked that I didn't want my pita and offered to bring it out if I changed my mind.
Yalla is doing lots of things right. They get the rare 5 stars and I hope they keep it up.
