Google
The portions you receive are huge and delicious! The sushi was indeed, fresh and tasted amazing! Will definitely be coming back soon!

Google
Googled this store. It was quiet and the waiters were friendly. The food was delicious, especially the udon, the best I've had in Pittsburgh. My husband really likes it too. Will be back again.

Bill H.

Google
Yama Sushi is a good Japanese restaurant in Mars PA. They offer lots of different Japanese dishes. I got the maki combo which was delicious and had great quality fish. The service was a little slow during my visit but the restaurant was busy. For a full review check out the link to my blog in my bio!

Google
We got the dinner box with the spicy tuna it was supposed to come with beef but I asked for a substitute for chicken. They were able to do with this no problem & didn’t charge extra. The temperature of the food was hot. The tempura batter was out of this world. It was honestly one of the bests I’ve had! For rolls we got the king tuna and crazy salmon roll. The rolls were fresh & delicious!! The service was good! Our serve was nice and kind. We had dinner there around 530pm and it was packed. The sodas do come in a can so if you like a fountain drink I wouldn’t get it. But honestly we like canned sodas so we were fine with it. We will definitely be coming back!

Google
The food is delicious and has good portions. Service is impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Friendly service, delicious food! Thank you Bella!

Google
Wonderful sushi. Im glad we decided to try this place. Friendly service but a little less attentive than I would have liked: I didn't receive the 2nd beverage that I requested. Not a huge deal but food was amazing and I would definitely go back!

Google
Just picked up my sushi and two boba teas from my favorite spot—and on the way back to my car, I accidentally spilled one of the drinks. I went back in just to ask for some paper towels, and not only did they give me several wet cloths and paper towels, but they also made me a brand new boba without hesitation. While I was cleaning up the mess in my car, they even brought it out to me. Their service has always been top-tier, right alongside their incredible sushi. So proud to be a returning customer. Thank you all for being so kind, helpful, and thoughtful 🫶🏻

Yelp
We got bento boxes. 5/5 Great variety of their dishes- was like having 6 courses! California roll, fried Goyza, fried shumai, tempura shrimp and tempura vegetables and teriyaki chicken and rice. One of us had miso soup. The other person had the clear soup. The California roll was ok. But who knew that you could tempura broccoli?!! Fried vegetables!? Yum! Yes please! And who knew you could fry shumai?? I'll have more of that also! We really enjoyed the visit. I thought Japanese food was all healthy. This was crazy to me. But quite enjoyable. It's almost subversive to deep fry vegetables and shumai! Server was very nice and checked on us but did not rush us. The booth was cozy. Dark wood. We liked the atmosphere. The restaurant seems clean. We liked the decor in the entry way with the waterfall and plants. We will definitely be back. 5/5 experience. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a fantastic spot for sushi. Our server was sweet and full of energy, and the sushi itself was amazing. My only complaint? I got too full to try the other menu items that looked just as delicious, guess that just means I'll have to come back again.

Yelp
Meh. We tried Yama Sushi based on the Yelp rating, but I don't think it deserves 4.5 stars. The place is dark and in desperate need of a refresh, and could use a good cleaning. The food was adequate, but not great. We had gyoza and four different rolls, and everything was pretty basic and bland. Not awful, but we're not planning to go back.

Yelp
The food is delicious and I've had several selections. Tons of sushi to choose from. I love the Udon noodles and hibachi dishes. The ambiance is as expected and it's very clean. Service is spot on and quick. The green tea is delicious.

Yelp
Got our order wrong but replaced it without a problem. Everything was delicious. The decoration is tasteful and not fussy.
google avatar

Dawn L.

Yelp
The best sushi in Cranberry! Kevin is our favorite! Ask for Kevin when you are being seated and the sushi experience will be amazing! Great recommendations to try new things and the fish is always fresh.

Yelp
Good sushi. Freshly rolled. They are able to customize your rolls. Service was attentive and considerate. The restaurant can get a bit loud as it is a pretty small place but perfect for small parties.
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
Popped in here because of the solid overall rating. Will not be back. Service was okay. We got the assorted tempura and spicy Kano salad to start. Tempura was bland, but pretty good. Kano salad was fishy. We got 4 rolls. The #29 Green Sleeve was very good, spicy and fresh. The #1 Godzilla roll was okay as well. However, Volcano and Mars rolls were room temperature and sour. Unacceptable for a sushi restaurant. My wife sent back both of her rolls and the staff asked if everything was okay and we explained that two of the rolls were not good, they didn't offer to replace. Beware.

Yelp
After trying a lot of different places since moving out here, I think I finally found my favorite sushi spot. We made it just in time to catch the end of the lunch special deals even though we ended up trying more from the appetizer side lol. The ambiance and atmosphere is nice and quiet and the trickling glass waterfall is very soothing. I selected the 3 sushi roll combo and had the spicy tuna, eel avocado, and salmon and avocado rolls. I love that they give a good amount of ginger because a lot of other places I've tried have skimped out on that. We totally forgot to take a picture of the Godzilla roll my partner ordered but hands down it's the best one we've ever had. He also tried the katsu don which he said tasted really good but didn't have enough meat in proportion to the rice they gave along with it. The gyoza was good (hard to say it's the best I've had since I miss my dumpling spots of NYC) but we still very much enjoyed them. The soft shell crab and Surume lka were also very yummy and will be repeat options to order in the future. We look forward to coming back and trying other things off their menu.

Yelp
Had hibachi shrimp, rice, veggies, salad and soup. Rice, salad and veggies were good. But the shrimp didn't have a good flavor and the soup wasn't my taste. Service was fine and restaurant seemed to be clean. Had a steady flow of customers.

Yelp
Yama Sushi is the closest sushi restaurant to our house. They seem to get both decent takeout and dine-in business. I always orders the sushi meal that gives you nigiri and a maki roll wherever I get sushi. I ordered the 8 pc combo here. The sushi and ginger dressing salad were good. It's about what you expect from your local strip mall sushi in the suburbs. I'd definitely return and I saw they have a $3 cork fee which is nice since they don't serve alcohol. The kids enjoyed the ice cream sandwich.

Micaela H.

Yelp
Our favorite sushi in Mars! Definitely worth the drive. BYOB so you can enjoy your own drinks with your favorite sushi.

Yelp
Food: Surprisingly good! We ordered a variety of sorts...around 4-5 dishes. And must say, food is delicious! Service: Excellent! They checked up on us often and we never had a problem getting their attention. Parking: from what I remember, there were plenty of parking. In fact, we parked right in the front.

Yelp
Ordered from Yama this week in honor of my wife and my anniversary. Yama isn't doing eat-in yet so we celebrated at home, but still tried to make a night of it by testing out the #2 love boat that comes with 3 different rolls as well as a sampling of 8 different sushi pieces. It was a lot of food but we also ordered a side of vegetable tempura for good measure! The chef needed about 25 minutes to prepare everything so I'm glad we called ahead. Total bonus, but as we pulled up the food was just coming out of the kitchen--perfect timing! The vegetable tempura was pretty good, but with our 15 minute drive back the food got a little cold (obviously no fault of Yama's). The sushi was varied and interesting! I wish there was a chest sheet to refer to what we were eating, but for the most part everything was really good! There were one or two sushi pieces that tasted a little more fishy than I would've liked, but who am I to judge Mother Nature's creations? All in all great experience and a nice way to celebrate an anniversary amidst COVID restrictions.

Yelp
This little gem is very popular and for good reason. Their sushi is delicious, and the service is fast and friendly. The environment is seemingly low key, but it's always a good sign to see the restaurant very popular among locals who could easily go a greater distance for a larger restaurant. It's close to my small town and as a Sushi lover for many years, Yama Sushi is a great choice!
google avatar

Yelp
Went here for the lunch special and wasn't disappointed! I got the sushi combination with my choice of three types of rolls and clear soup. I also added the spicy Kani salad which was awesome. My fiancé had the steak and shrimp hibachi lunch which also came with soup. Next time I think I'd try a bento box! Decent prices, huge menu and super fresh ingredients!
google avatar

Craig B.

Yelp
The food was good, but not outstanding. I got Box A for dinner to go (more on that in a moment). The soup was OK. The tempura, while hot, was not seasoned well, so it was bland. The sushi/sashimi was fine. The salmon was soaked in a thick sauce. It didn't taste fresh and the sauce dud it no favors. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, which I saw as a ding with sushi. I got it to go so I could drink beer with dinner.

Yelp
The woman hostess/waitress/owner was very impolite, never greets me upon arrival (keep in mind this is my third visit here) and had a nonchalant, unwelcoming attitude towards me as a patron and made me feel as though I was in a racist polluted environment due to the occasional awkward stares and the lack of attentiveness I received compared to the other surrounding tables. I noticed several time this woman purposely ignore and skipped past my table to ensure whether the other guest were ok or if they needed anything else. Adjacent to that, I do want to acknowledge my main waiter that was honestly polite and was really accommodating in delivering me an exceptional service -which was inevitably camouflage by this hostess-waitress-owner's condescending and distasteful vibration. After noticing the differential in treatment that made me significantly undervalued as a customer, I'll vow to never subject myself to this mediocre establishment ever again! This weird nature of going out of your way to make guest feel uncomfortable as a person of color is just very low and people like yourself shouldn't be in the customer service realm or restaurant industry to purposefully patronize guest.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Wow! This place was great. We went for lunch and left as happy costumers. The service, food, and overall atmosphere was outstanding. I recommend this place for anybody who wants Sushi rolls! The miso soup was delicious as well.

G M.

Yelp
Great sushi and sashimi that is high quality, fresh and generous portions. Great other options as well if you are not into sushi. BYOB is great!
google avatar

Marnie S.

Yelp
Everything I was hoping for and more. My husband and I shared the sushi for two love boat dinner for our fifth anniversary. We also got a tempura appetizer that was amazing, as always. It had a couple shrimp and several vegetables to share. The sushi for two dinner had so much variety and was beautiful to look at too! So much food. We had purchased a dessert elsewhere and we were so full we couldn't even eat it.

Henry F.

Yelp
Our new favorite place for sushi. We ate there about half a dozen times and only once did the sushi disappointed us. There is a hibachi menu but it's prepared in the kitchen and brought out to you.
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
Great option that's delicious and local. This is the BEST sushi in this area - no question. Great service. Great menu. Great tasting. Nice hibachi option for those who don't care to get sushi. Keep up the good work!! Also, it's BYOB! How can you go wrong???

Yelp
Out of all the sushi I have had in Pittsburgh and the surrounding metro areas, Yama still holds the gold standard when it comes to sushi. Here is why: -Rice: it had the ideal amount of moisture and texture. Not too soggy, not too dry. -Fish: never a fishy taste and fresh. -Service: Friendly staff ever visit. -Open later: Most nights are 10 closing so I can drop by after a long day of work and stil have a great meal. -Reasonably priced for quality. They also have happy hour too if you are looking for value as well. Not much more you can ask for, right?

M m.

Yelp
AWFUL! Sushi was sweaty and smelled fishy, including the eel. salmon with funky flavor, had to be several weeks old chicken fried rice was dry, chicken dried out like previously frozen what the hell is wrong with these people, they clearly don't care Take out and we threw nearly half of it in trash

Jenn B.

Yelp
My son in law has been eager to try this place so I ordered 4 rolls take out on Saturday . Considering the recommendations from a few locals and the outstanding reviews , we were not expecting to be so highly disappointed. We threw the majority of one roll into the trash . It was terrible ! $70 for 4 rolls in two very small containers to boot . 8-10 pieces per roll and they were very tiny rolls compared to any sushi I've ever had elsewhere . The fish was not fresh in our opinion , much like that of fish that sits around for awhile . I think he summed it up with his statement quite well when he called it "gas station sushi". Sorry to say that I would not recommend their sushi to anyone . I am not a hard one to please when it comes to food so that should tell you something.
google avatar

Ali G.

Yelp
As an update - still literally the best sushi in Pittsburgh. We came from NY and it's actually better than most sushi spots in NYC too. Super fresh, fast, and absolutely delicious. Our favorite restaurant after going there all the time for years.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
My wife and I love this place. After 15 years of New York sushi we were worried we'd miss the good stuff, but every single time we've gone here or ordered takeout we've been super happy with the food. This is after 15+ visits. We don't need the hostess to be super friendly or require perfection from the server, just polite timely service and great food. Yama accomplishes this.
google avatar

Caitlin R.

Yelp
Yama sushi has been our family's go-to sushi restaurant for years. They have the best menu with something for everyone to enjoy and the service is always incredible!

Terry R.

Yelp
The best Sushi in Western pa, and this is coming from a Californian who has been eating Sushi since 1985. Great family owned restaurant. Extremely Fresh, great service, high quality Fish served at perfect temperature. Been going here for 10 years. Always Consistant.

S F.

Yelp
Prompt efficient service. Excellent sushi. Comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend this hidden gem in Adam's Twp!

Yelp
Excellent prompt attentive service! Food is very good and above average for sushi!

Yelp
Such great service and food! I had no idea that this plaza even existed until today. Come here for yams sushi, come here for one of the other places in the plaza. Happy I just happened by and found the spot! Yama Sushi, outstanding! Great food and great service at a very good price!!!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was great! Will definitely stop again! I've only had sushi a few times and wasn't sure what to order, our server made a great suggestion to get the "men in black" and it was soooo good! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Claire T.

Yelp
Went here for a quick dinner with my boyfriend. We were in and out in 30 minutes which we loved! The service was speedy & kind. We split the Yakitori for an appetizer, Dave had the dynamite roll and I had the rainbow roll. Everything was delicious and so fresh! We will be back.

Chloe S.

Yelp
One of the best sushi places in the North of Pittsburgh. The sushi is amazing. I think I've tried every roll. Service is great and I've never been disappointed coming here. I recommend Yama to anyone who likes good sushi.
google avatar

Bill S.

Yelp
It's the best sushi in the north hills, it's what they do and what they do great. Never had a bad meal here, dine in or take out. Always consistent.
google avatar

Daisy S.

Yelp
Very attentive and friendly. Everyone working had visited our table either to take our order, fill our drinks and clear out plates. We always take our time when we eat sushi, we typically order a kani salad first and then a few rolls. On this occasion we had the spicy kani salad it was very tasty, if you like a kani salad with lots of crab it had plenty. I was almost missing the cucumbers but my boyfriend loved the ration of crab to cucumber. The peppered tuna was served with a sweeter ponzu sauce that we both liked. Typically we don't get dessert but we ordered a chestnut cake. It was very tasty but I was still craving something so I ordered my go to , a taro tea. I have to say they have really good pearls here, they have a sweet syrup that I really do enjoy. Thanks to everyone it was so good tonight !!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Reasonably priced small sushi spot! The place is clean and quaint. Sushi is made fresh at the bar and very yummy! Today I have their lunch combo 3 rolls for 12$ which comes with soup or salad. I also ordered green tea and edemame. Everything was served very quickly. The wait staff is kind and friendly and refills were brought without my having to ask. There is plenty of parking - as this is situated right off of 228 in a plaza in seven fields. Excellent location for a quick lunch or light dinner.
google avatar

Ryan S.

Yelp
Love this place. Very friendly couple work here and the food has always been good. We like the bento boxes, sushi and the bubble tea!
google avatar

Nichole A.

Yelp
I tried this place on a date. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff super friendly. Even though the date turned out to be from the deepest pit of emotionally unavailable I'm happy I got to eat here.
google avatar

Valarie J.

Yelp
This is the best sushi restaurant in the area and I have been to most of them. The whole experience was 5 stars . First off, it is BYOB! I love that part and it's not a secret or anything . It's on the menu so no confusion. Next, the food is so fresh. I had the Titan roll and the Simple Angel roll. These are super spicy but very good. The Titan was a new special. My boyfriend has the Man in Black and Green Sleeve. He said they were great the man in black has spider which was nice change of pace. The service was the best part. They are so polite and consistently checking on us. Nothing to overwhelming ! It was a very great experience. Finally it was happy hour and all rolls are 20 percent off, so definitely take advantage of that!
google avatar

Elias S.

Yelp
Every time I come here the staff is always very welcoming. The food to me is very good but importantly consistent. Whether it is dine in or take out I can rely on consistently good service and food. One of my favorite places in the Mars/Cranberry area.
google avatar

Sameena R.

Yelp
Fantastic little Japanese place in Mars that I never would've gone to had my friends not invited me to lunch there. Was not too far off the beaten path, just off 228. Hidden in a nice little plaza, it's classy and slightly upscale inside, and it was pretty empty at 1:15. Got a booth and waited for my friends to filter in, asked the server a couple questions about the sushi, which he answered well. We ordered from the lunch menu, which came out to less than $15 per entree-$10 for Cece's chicken fried rice, $12 for both mine and Levi's three rolls apiece, and $8 for Becca's two rolls. All of these included either soup or salad. Once ordering, we waited about 10 minutes or less for our sushi and my girlfriend's fried rice. While we were waiting, Levi, and the server almost instantly got a stack of napkins and a rag over to wipe it all up. He was a great guy-cracking jokes, friendly. Even the busboy who came out was just as amiable! I ordered the shrimp avocado, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon rolls, with masago on the first. Didn't realize I'd fill up on the salad, I actually still had 6 of the 18 pieces left! Nice flavor, although I usually don't have raw tuna and salmon, so I think it's naturally not too flavorful unless marinated in something. I wish I'd gotten his name, because our server was fantastic. I'll be coming back to this place soon! Thanks for a great experience! I strongly recommend this place for the lunch menu. I don't know if it delivers, but that would be awesome if it does!
google avatar

Brooke T.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our meal here! The staff are friendly, the restaurant is very nice looking, the menu is large, and the food is quite good. I had the tempura udon for my meal, and it was delicious! The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday evening, but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Is this business open? Does anyone know if they are doing a takeout menu? Called and was not able to connect. .....
google avatar

Nacho H.

Yelp
Looking for my new go-to sushi spot and I found it. Fresh and tasty. Price was reasonable and the service was very solid. If you are looking for a neighborhood sushi spot this is it and it's the best in Cranberry. Trust me, I have had a couple rough experiences at other spots (Jimmy Wans) and paid more. Go here first.

Christina E.

Yelp
I absolutely love Yama Sushi! It is my favorite sushi restaurant and they have something for everyone. Their prices are fair and not too expensive and they have food that ranges from noodle dishes to special rolls and authentic desserts. I have been going here for years now and the staff really takes pride in having excellent food. Yama also has great boba tea which perfectly compliments any meal. Overall, I give this place an 11/10 and it's a must for anyone in the area.

Yelp
Sushi is fresh Service is polite and timely Prices are very reasonable I can eat myself silly for $12 off the daily lunch menu which is available 7 days a week till 3pm !
