great food and amazing price. this is a clean, amazingly priced, and delicious sushi spot. the salmon was amazing. i doubt you can get this amount of sushi for this good of a price anywhere else in junction!! 🍣 but the waitress we had.. very rude EDIT: i went here on my birthday and honestly the server was pretty cold to us we are quiet and respectful but she had a bad experience with another customer (she told us about it multipleee times and told us about a bad review they left) and was really upset which i understand but also you shouldn’t take your anger out on random customers we did nothing to get that kind of service.. she really wanted a good review.. the service was uncomfortable and unwarranted but the chef was nice!! and he even said thank you and goodbye when we left. food was good but this was a really weird experience looking back. got guilt tripped into leaving her a good review and tip but her service was awful. just wanted sushi on my birthday :/ i hope she has better days ahead of her but again WE DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO HER.. so, good food but being in there the vibes were off because we didn’t want to say something or do something to upset her everything we said she looked annoyed and had snarky comments:( i understand it is hard but life is hard on all of us, i haven’t gone out to eat with my family in so long because we work so much and we drove a long way just to be in junction. she even hit my bf on the head with a menu which is funny admittedly but unprofessional and SO RUDE?? don’t touch people while youre working. i wish i had a better experience truly

Food was great, authentic, arrived quickly, good amount for the price. Affordable. Highly recommend. Ordered soft shell crab legs appetizer. Seshuan family beef, chicken, shrimp, sweet & sour soup. No room for desert

This place is awesome. The service was amazing and so friendly. The portions are so big we had enough for a dinner the next day. The family who owns it is amazing and friendly to everyone who comes in. Grate place for lunch. Food came out quick, hot, and delicious 🤤

I have enjoyed coming here for the last year since I’ve learned about it. The food has consistently been amazing and I feel like it’s the best thing for your buck when it comes to sushi in town. However, the waitress is always rude and does not know how to take care of customers. One time I went by myself and she touched my shoulder about 14 times. She always has a sour attitude, but after a while you get used to it because the food‘s good. The old man is such a delight and always so nice! And their hours are wrong on Google so they always pressure us to leave and they give us a hard time for being there so late but we planned accordingly and we asked them if we should pick somewhere else and they said no but yet they slammed the menus on the table as if we’re the biggest inconvenience in the world. And then they snagged our order sheet for my hands like a ninja. Being very rude. Our friend on principal did not order anything because she was being so rude to him. Demand that he order right away this is just how she is. This is also a half an hour before they closed, but to our knowledge, it should’ve been an hour before hand so you should have plenty of time.

I'm going to eat at this restaurant every time I'm in Grand Junction from now on! We enjoyed the service, everything we ordered, and the prices were fantastic. Highly recommend it!

I have been eating at Yama sushi or Zen Garden’s since 2015. I was looking for a new Sushi place to eat. When I first went in the to try out sushi, the young lady there helped me figure out what to order. I was new at ordering sushi, so I didn’t know exactly what to order or what I would like. She explained it to me and was very, very helpful. Yama sushi is my go to restaurant when I want to treat myself. With the owner Max, Nancy and Linda are Friendly and always offer me something to drink while I’m waiting for my order to go. The food gets better every time I eat there. If you’re looking for a fast, friendly affordable place to have sushi and other dishes, then Yama sushi is your restaurant.

This place has a very kind owners who are compassionate and the gentleman is involved with his customers. His wife is also involved and they are very nice people. Highly recommend!¡! ¡DON'T LET THIS PLACE CLOSE LIKE THE OTHER RESTAURANTS THAT HAVE BEEN HERE PRIOR TO THIS ONE!

This place is amazing! The service was wonderful and the staff is so sweet. They really try to connect with you and make you feel comfortable and welcome. The sushi was so great, and worth every penny! My boyfriend and I ate so much and it was less than $50! I highly recommend this place and we will be back really soon.

I come here often and always have an amazing experience. Wether your dinning in or eating out the food is always hot and fresh. The dine in area is clean and welcoming. The staff is always a joy and the reason I come back. They always take care of me and I appreciate that.

Don't waste your money. Absolutely terrible. The calamari app was 90% batter and like a shoe string of meat. The general Tso's was not spicy, at all. And I ordered it as hot as they allow. The chicken was so overcooked it was like jerky. Fried rice, the shrimp were grainy and flavorless. The beef was rubbery. Also essentially flavorless. Bad deal. Don't go.

I am a door dasher and I have been picking up orders a lot lately from them and I really appreciate the kindness from them and the hostess is my favorite person she is so kind and sweet we talk every time I go in

The sushi was delicious. I can't wait to go back when I'm in GJ again. We ordered two sushi rolls and it came with miso soup.

having lived in the following communities before arriving in Grand Junction ( Chicago .. San Francisco .. SLC .. ) as my wife says: "a FIVE star here in GJ is like a THREE star in San Francisco" .. I'm not a snob .. really LOVE GJ and the community here .. but as a newcomer to the Front Range - it's just that our expectations are a bit different from folks who were born here and grew up here .. The sushi was just OK but the dinner dishes left much to be desired .. The owner was gracious (maybe just a tad bit overbearing) .. but we'll give him time and we will try again in another month or so .. So far - our go to place in GJ for sushi is Suehiro .. that place is creeping up to a FIVE star experience in GJ ...

Stopped in for the first time the other night with my mother who was visiting from out of town who was craving sushi - and we were not disappointed! Everything came out tasty and with great presentation. The owner was very attentive and friendly. Will be back for sure to try their other menu items!

Today was the 3rd time I've been to Yama Sushi. As a California transplant from the Bay Area, I miss the sushi. The sushi here is probably the best I've had in the grand valley, and I've been to the more popular places with great disappointment; definitely not worth the hype. The quality, portions and prices are unbeatable! Nancy was absolutely hilarious! It reminds me of the Soup Nazi episode in Seinfeld. Do yourself a favor and give them a try

this place has the best service and amazing high quality food. I usually go for lunch and it's nice and quiet. this place should be more popular. the prices are amazing too. I come here every time I visit grand junction.

Most awkward experience I have ever had in a restaurant, lady serving us was unbelievably rude and obnoxious. DO NOT EAT HERE. She should be let go. And she put her hands on me while I was holding menue ripped the menue out of my hand and I about lost it. You do not grab someone period while they are eating. Also multiple times she came and inturupted us to talk crap on other people while we where try to talk personal things

Love this place. Food is amazing! Great variety of choices. I always have great service. I usually do pick up or to go. The restaurant is clean. Anytime I've dined in I've received excellent service.

Truly one of the wierdest culinary and service experiences I have ever had. "Lemonade" was Mello Yellow (or possibly Mountain Dew) with water in it... server insisted we were going to get soup even after we declined, rushed us to get an order in because "the health department is here and the kitchen will be tied up" then later dumped water all over one of us while stacking plates to clear the table. Ordered a whole bunch of different things to try various parts of the menu - some of it was edible, none of it was worth ordering again. Hate to leave a 1 star but... this is the reason 1 star rating exists and all of the errors (except the apparently cursed location) were completely unforced and within the establishment's control.

Don't judge a book by its cover! This place is really good and prices are low, really big inside and clean! Service was great they were all ways there when we needed something. Our glass was never empty! Food was very good had good taste and really enjoyed it. Family friendly

Probably the best sushi in the Grand Valley. We enjoy the excellent sushi at a fair price. Don't let the exterior of the building dissuade you, it's very nice inside. We always find the service friendly and attentive. Not a bad meal yet.

This was the most bizarre dining experience I've ever had. The food was ok, the server was unbelievably rude, it was as though she went out of her way to be rude. It was not just our table she was rude to either. I will not be going back.

This is one of the best restaurants in our town unfortunately the location is not a lucky one. I urge you Customer to visit this restaurant. The sushi is amazing. The soups are fresh and flavorful. I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant. I highly recommend you go and try for yourself, the atmosphere is amazing. Highly recommend.

Don't let the outside of the building fool you, the food is amazing! I've never had hot and sour soup so evenly balanced and great, this place is slept on for real! The service is great the owner is so sweet and kind and just a stand up guy. The sushi on the other hand is so fresh and light. It melts in your tongue and is delicious! The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and sophisticated. At the low and affordable prices you'd expect less but really this place is a diamond. Love love love! 10/10

They're fantastic. I really enjoy it every time I visit. I've heard people complain about the lady at the front. She's rather gruff but that's just her personality. They are an awesome family and I love to support them. This is the second restaurant that I've become a big fan of.

Our server mad the entire experience incredibly uncomfortable. Throughout our meal she repeatedly came to our table to bad mouth other guest in the restaurant for things such has speaking Russian or for having kids. We also ordered some octopus which was served to us still frozen.

The sushi at this place was wonderful. I cannot give it 5 stars tho because of the daughter that works there. Right when you walk thru the door, you are greeted with the coldest, most unfriendly face you ever seen. The face matches the attitude. Rude is an understatement. I ask myself why I stayed? It's because we really wanted sushi. This chick never went away. She did lighten up as the minutes went by, but continued to stand by our table and talk gossip the entire time we were there. Talked about other customers, the pet place next door and people coming in the next day to celebrate a birthday. She NEVER went away! The sad part of this, is that her parents that own the restaurant, are so sweet and nice! So nice!! But this girl that "greets" you at the door, & serves you, is going to ruin their business! 100%

Service suck the server is very rude and obnoxious has a foul mouth the food was OK. My mom could barely chew the chicken.

If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely worst sushi I have ever had in my life. Lady at front extremely rude. Gentlemen was very kind, but definitely will never go back and lost appetite upon eating. Seems like it was rolled a week ago. Praying I don't get sick!

It's not all that . The fastest service was the bill .. the act like your bothering them They sat up front eating and doing schedules.. Just not impressed..

We gave Yama Sushi a try. On entering we realized there was only one other couple which I found interesting. We were seated by a woman who we soon found out should NOT be seating, serving or conversing with any customer. I checked out the sushi bar which looked really good with a nice selection, well cut, well chilled and gave me hope. I ordered 2 Kirin beers and was immediately told by the woman that "she does not bring beer and they had NO Kirin" very abrupt and not what you would expect from a "waitress". An older gentleman came up and took our order for beer. We got Tsing Tao. I noticed the other couple looking our way and smiling amongst themselves. we got our beers by the waitress (?) and she took our order of eel and yellowtail just because we were not sure about the food or the place. Before the sushi came our waitress came by, asked us where we were from and then told us about some sort of foot surgery she had just had. totally out there and my wife and I looked at each other what hell had we walked in to. I have been in sushi houses all over the USA and have always felt at home sitting back reading if I was by my self. Total enjoyment. Yama Sushi felt bizarre. The food arrived about the time the other couple got up to leave and wished us "good luck" and we all laughed. Literally. The sushi was well represented. Nice big cuts of very nice eel and the same for the yellowtail. Both were of great quality and taste. But the vibe, the weird ass waitress and the elderly gentleman sitting right behind us, watching a basketball game was just over whelming bizarre. We left after that. We then went to plan "B" which was Texas Road House, always good, always consistent. We sat at the bar laughing our butt off because of Yama Sushi and ordered beers and a shot. The bartender asked why we were laughing so much and we told him. HE had been there, the couple next to us over heard us and said they had been there and all agreed, it was not a comfortable place. Great food from the little we saw but the creepy waitress needs to chill or not be the person dealing with customers.

This is the best sushi and Asian fusion in Junction, for both the taste and the price. For the amount of food you get plus the quality it's by far my girlfriend and I'd favorite date spot. The owners take care of their customers every time we go. I urge you to give it a shot.

Awesome food and really great prices for huge portions. The waitress was awesome and we felt at home with the staff. The entire family running the restaurant was attentive and kind. Can't wait to come here again as we had such a wonderful experience!

Sushi was mediocre with tons and rice and fell apart when I grabbed it to eat it. Other food was ordered was cold and not much flavor. Would not recommend.

The service was wonderful. Nancy is a joyful, fun- loving personality. The sushi rolls a delicious and fresh. We had the unagi, shrimp tempura, rainbow and crunch rolls. Everything was superb. I'm not sure why this place isn't packed out with a line out the door. The dining room is spacious and clean and although it isn't flashy outside, inside more than makes up for that. If you love sushi, then you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to return for another meal. The prices are reasonable and the food is top quality. Give them a try.

This restaurant nis always empty and there is a reason. I am not sure that they know anything about Japanese sushi and I definitely leery about how fresh their food is.

THE MOST AWKWARD AND UNCOMFORTABLE MEAL OF MY LIFE! Worst server I have ever had. I thought we had to be at a restaurant where they were supposed to be rude. Seated at a table and first thing the server tells us is how she had a table order over 100 in food and then not pay. She said she had to pay for that herself. Okay that's a little awkward but fine.... Brings out water sets them on one end of the table and says you pass down I'm not going to. Did not offer us to order any drinks. Brings 3 menus for 6 adults and a kid. Before we can even ask about a kids menu rudely tells us there is no kids menu and "you will have to share." At this point I'm ready to leave and go somewhere else and had we not had other people with us I would have. Would have liked to try the sushi which we were explained there's the paper you mark it yourself because I'm not going to. There was no way I wanted to be at this restaurant any longer than I absolutely had to so skipped that. Ordered food and didn't want either choice of soup. Said that and then again got told which soup did I want, not getting soup wasn't an option. I was in shock that I was forced to order something I wasn't going to eat and didn't know how else to respond other than just saying one of the choices. Soups and what not come out and again told that we need to pass it ourself to the right people. When the actual food came out a nice gentleman was assisting and actually served the food to the person who ordered the food. He also refilled our empty water glasses that she couldn't be bothered to fill. On the plus side most everyone's food was good but nothing spectacular. The lo mein is the weirdest most awkward tasting lo mein I've ever had. As we're eating we all were watched like a hawk by her, not to actually attend to our needs like refill my water but apparently to make sure we paid. Needless to say when it switched from the red maple to this it went completely downhill. I'm positive if that waitress continues to work there the parking lot won't be mostly empty it will be completely empty. Only one other group came in and the first thing the server told them as well was about getting dined and dashed. As empty as it was I'm shocked this place still exists. I'll go back to driving all the way to fruita for Chinese food instead of stepping foot back into this place.

For being on the cursed corner of grand junction this place needs to stay! Seriously one of the best restaurants i've eaten at in so long. We ordered the crab wontons as an appetizer and these were the best crab cheese wontons i've EVER tasted. The perfect crunch mixed with the pillowy dough has an amazing taste while not being greasy at all. the filling was the perfect melt in your mouth consistency with an explosion of flavor. Seriously you need to get an order of these when you come. For our entree's, we ordered the Shaggy Roll, the Jalapeño Roll, and the Yoshiko Maki Roll. All three were amazing but the Yoshiko Maki was my personal favorite. The service itself was amazing, very inviting atmosphere perfect for dates and very family friendly. The owner was very kind and the server was on top of it! Seriously would recommend coming here!

This is an amazing family operated restaurant! We have been huge fans of the food since it was Zen Garden. We were super excited when we went in and found our favorite server was here along with her mom and dad. They are all wonderful people. Nancy takes good care of us and has a great sense of humor. We normally come in regularly now that we know it is them. The restaurant is nice and big, perfect for the large group we bring. The food is fantastic, our favorite is the Zen Garden roll! You can't get it anywhere else! They make you feel so welcome. Seriously love this place and the staff! I am really sad to see the bad reviews. People get offended way to easy these days. We always have a great experience here and lots of laughter!

Amazing service, the old man is awesome and offered me and my lady free drinks. Sushi was alright, not the best around town but definitely edible unlike most places around here.

Hands down the best sushi in town. I wanted to take a pic of our order but was too excited to eat it and forgot. The owner is super sweet, always eager to please. There is no where else in town I will go for sushi.

Foods just fair but the lady working there is hands down the rudest ever! You'll be able to pick her out so I won't even go into detail. She was extremely rude to my children. Don't go!
