Loved my bento box and my husband liked his uni. Good service and recommend!

Been going to this restaurant since it opened and the quality of food has always been fantastic. They have different specials and it’s important to check, see picture. We were there on a Tuesday at 4 PM and got 40% off our meal. be mindful that they also off at a lesser discount when you order online or walk up order and take out. The quality of the food is top notch as you can see from the pictures. We always have a large sake with our meal and it’s always warming to the soul to drink it. The restaurant itself is L-shaped and does contain bathrooms in the back. You can see the picture of the sushi bar which has bench seats with table and chair seating across from it. However, when you walk in the door, you’re at the cash register and if you kept going straight, that’s where the actual dinner booths are located along with the restrooms. Sometimes the restaurant seems a little dark, so make sure you have your reading glasses and your phone if you need it for a little extra light. The menu is quite extensive as you can see with a variety of sushi and sashimi options. For happy hour sashimi is not part of the happy our However, when ordering it’s very clear because on the order card, there are things that are marked with green and things that aren’t and the ones that are green are not included in the happy hour. We ordered three types of rolls and they’re all labeled in the pictures. This included the TNT, Alaska, and Eel rolls. We also ordered a few pieces of Unagi and Hamachi. Everything is top quality and taste fantastic. The sushi melts in your mouth with a little bit of soy sauce. Be mindful when you come as it can get crowded. They do have outdoor seating, which is really nice in the summertime although it’s a little chilly right now. I would highly recommend this as a sushi stop just be mindful of when you come and when the specials are, and you can save a lot of money for top quality food.

Chefs were very funny and personable, ate more than enough food for a great price.

I came to this restaurant with my family to enjoy a weekend dinner, and the food and service were excellent!! Gina especially was a gem; she was very attentive, checking on us constantly, ensuring that everything met the restaurants high standards. We ordered quite a few rolls and appetizers and everything was excellent!! A great way to spend happy hour at this lovely spot <3

Service is friendly and fast, I sat at the bar top and was checked on multiple times to see if I needed anything. Sushi came out quickly and was delicious and very generous sized. I even had to ask for a to go container and they boxed it for me and gave me a nice sushi see through plastic box. Bill was returned quickly which I always appreciate when I’m trying to pay and leave. Would recommend their happy hour they have 30% off 3 rolls from 3:30 - 5:30 pm I believe. Great option if you’re a couple.

My favorite Japanese restaurant in Carlsbad. Staff and people here are amazing. Friendly, jovial and caring. I love the food here. My favorite here is the kama. I was introduced to it by one of our friends and I love this grilled fish collar. Amazing dish, try it with fresh wasabi.

We had such a great experience! We sat outside with our dog and they brought her a big bowl of water without us asking! The sushi was really fresh and yummy. Highly recommend :)

The quality of the sushi is pretty good. Some were obviously not as high for the price. Service was descent. The atmosphere is pretty nice. Some things I didn't like to see were the boxes and bags being within line of sight but not uncommon, maybe just a pet peeve. However, the clearing of the table took longer than expected. Especially being sat near the entrance.

This is a very popular sushi restaurant, although none of the customers appeared to be Asian. Give that a little thought. There is some good food here and then there is some other stuff. The combo plates are very popular, likely because you get a ton of food with it. Some of it is good and then there is some other stuff. With the combo, you get salad, miso soup, rice, tempura shrimp and veggies, and your choice of either two or three menu items. The salad was mostly crunchy core. If you like the crunchy core of a salad, well, this one is for you. The miso soup was ok. The tempera shrimp and veggies were very nice. The spicy roll was mushy and not spicy. The crunchy roll was enormous and delicious. The chicken teriyaki was fine. I sampled the rainbow roll and it was good. We liked our server very much. She was busy but worked hard. Remember what I said: There is some good food here and then there is some other stuff.

Yamariki Sushi is such a lovely place. I really enjoyed the decor. It is modern with a warm and inviting feel, and the overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the service stood out as especially kind. The staff made us feel welcome and were very attentive throughout the meal. If you are looking for a peaceful sushi spot in Carlsbad with good food, kind service, and a relaxing environment, this is definitely a place worth trying.

The best deal in SD is at yamariki sushi--if you eat there between 3:30-5:30. Usually it's 40% off during happy hour. For December it's 50%. Tonight, I had the big bento box which included miso soup, salad, tempura shrimp and veggies, California roll, rainbow roll, grilled salmon, white rice-originally 25.95 but today 13.50! I took more than half home for lunch. I loved everything that was served. Fish is so fresh! Salmon perfectly grilled. My sister loved her chicken teriyaki. All three of us had 9 different foods for $43-includes tax. Sooo good!

Sushi and service continue to be great with super fresh recent orders -- and fast courteous service. One small nitpick thing -- have to remind them when order "light rice" (great carb friendly option!) on rolls but they always remake it. 5 stars now since I do believe this is the top if not definitely top 3 sushi spots in north county for quality and value. PS. Get happy hour sushi from 3:30pm to 5:30pm each day -- save about 30% with 2010ish pricing. Unfortunately you have to order the happy hour now over the phone as no more online option, apparently due to fraud -- dang that's low to scam sushi, what's the world coming to (I digress!)

I'm giving this place a slight bump because I think it deserves better. I've been to Japan multiple times and of *everywhere* I've been around North County, I've liked this place's food the most. However, the vibes in the restaurant don't match the quality of the food. It feels like an Applebees, and is too far away from the feel you really want when going out for authentic Japanese. I think there should be a change in branding and overhaul of the look and feel of this place, as a nice japanese feeling place is something missing in the area. The food, which is the hard part, is already figured out

I am 27 weeks pregnant and have a severe shellfish allergy, so I made it very clear when ordering sushi that I could not have any shellfish (crab, shrimp, etc.). The staff recommended the baked skin salmon roll and eel roll, so I ordered those. When I received my order, they gave me the baked salmon roll, which contains crab--a mistake that could have been deadly for me and my unborn baby. When I explained the situation, Josephine told me she would refund me and that she didn't need my card to process it. I was skeptical but trusted her. A week later, there was no refund. When I called to follow up, Josephine remembered me, hung up on me, and stopped answering my calls. She later called back saying the manager wouldn't be available on a day I could come. When I finally went back in, a staff member named "Young Bee" dismissed my concerns, refused to give me her real name, and wouldn't tell me when the manager would be available. Thankfully, a staff member named Alex kindly told me when David, the manager, would be working. This restaurant's negligence could have seriously harmed or killed me and my baby. On top of that, their staff was dishonest, evasive, and took zero accountability for their dangerous mistake. If you have allergies or expect basic professionalism, I strongly urge you to avoid this place.

If you are in La Costa Town Square and feel like sushi you should give this a try. Fresh fish and great atmosphere. Five stars !

Final review for this place. I am SO disappointed. And I know most of the regulars here are as well. This used to be so yummy, my favorite local sushi. But the restaurant is still dirty, trash all over the floor, and the food we had last night was bad. The sushi rolls were soaking wet. Like the rice was dissolving off of them, and it tasted like water had been dumped all over it. And the garlic edamame had a similar problem. It was sooo bland. It's usually delicious but last night it tasted like there was no seasoning in it, it was just wet edamame. The only thing that was good was the teriyaki chicken. Even the miso soup didn't taste right. I don't think we will spend anymore money here, it's just too expensive to get bad food.

Horrible attitude and business relations. The server is great both the young girl and older ladies however the owner and older Japanese chef need to learn "Customer Service"! They try and fraud customers with different prices on their website vs. in store. They try and not give you the 40% discount for happy hour unless you request it. Went today for the last time! They were so cheap they didn't want to turn on the Air Conditioning. There was flies everywhere because of the heat and humidity. The chefs and waitresses are sweating. And when asked to turn on the AC the older chef (manager) lies and says it is on. I called him a liar and walked out. Good sushi but HORRIBLE customer service and I will be going somewhere else from now on.

Yelp, you find me good lunch specials! For a foodie who looks for a quiet spot to read her book, this is a great lunch spot. The cucumber salad has just the right amount of tang and sweet. The sushi is made with good nature from the chefs. Thank you for being the bright point of my day and an escape from the Santa Ana winds.

The service from the beginning was great, really kind servers. When the sushi rolls came out they were really good portions! Did not take long at all Our first time here and it was a good experience, cute little cozy sushi place!

I came here with a few friends and we were all seriously impressed. The sushi was super fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and really take pride in what they serve. The service was also excellent--friendly, fast, and helpful without being overbearing. The atmosphere is relaxed but still nice enough for a date night or special occasion. We ordered a variety of rolls and some nigiri, and everything was delicious. Portion sizes were just right, and the presentation was beautiful. Even the appetizers and drinks were on point.

We love Yamariki. We have been going there for years and never get disappointed. We tried a couple of different places and regretted. Yamariki has happy hours with 30% off and the size and quality of the rolls are very good. Service is quick and friendly. We always come back.

This used to be our favorite (local) sushi restaurant. The staff were excellent, responsive, and fun. The food was top-notch. Those were the early years. Then management changed hands. At first, things were pretty much the same. Slowly, things changed. At first, it seemed that the staff were under more pressure. They weren't as happy as before. The "Jimmy specials" disappeared. Then Sa was gone. She had worked there from the start and always welcomed us with a hug. Then others disappeared, replaced by new folks. They were friendly, but the place just lost that original charm. The sushi quality dropped. It was fine but just not as good. The last few times we were there, the place seemed dingy and dirty. Then we had issues with to-go orders a few times. I put that down to the staff having a bad day. But, for us, it was just time to move on. I'm giving it a two-star with the hope that in a year or five, they get their sushi in order.

Uni was awesome. Bluefin tuna was Mid. Otherwise very good if you want sushi in general.

Brought my wife for Valentine's Day. Was really relaxing. Not to crazy there which was really nice! I had a Korean rib plate and it was very flavorful! Loved it

We love the happy hour here, great drinks and fresh sushi at awesome prices! The fact that they provide coloring sheets is helpful if you're coming with kids. Highly recommend for a relaxed and enjoyable time!

I love the Happy Ending roll! Spicy mayo and mango go well together. They have vegan choices. My daughter likes the bento box. Miso soup and edamame also very good.

I wish I read reviews first before I visited this place! Scam not sushi place! Waiter was so mean, did not check on us even one time. She didn't smile and was rude. She was giving me the plate of food and kind of yelling "hold it", she was rushing to go take care of new guests... Food was not good. Too much souses! We couldn't finish it. Anyway, my first and last time visiting this place!

I came in for happy hour (advertised as 30% off from 3:30-5:30) but I was told by two older ladies I had to order three items, which was not stated on the sign or online. Then I was told it was only 20% off for one item. The staff were unfriendly, gave me attitude, and offered no greeting or smile. Very poor customer service -- I left disappointed and will not return.

The food was terrible, and the place was super dirty. I could see into the kitchen, floors were filthy and overall dirty. We ordered a vegetarian roll for my vegan daughter and you could tell they had cut the roll with the same knife as the rolls with the fish. The waiter was really nice though.

My sister loves this place and would want to eat here every day for the rest of her life. The service was great and totally felt like I was in Japan. The paintings were very Japan like. They had Japanese symbols on the curtains and I loved it.

Great sushi! We've been coming here for years and this is always our favorite sushi place. My favorite roll here is the Baked Salmon, Philadelphia and salmon lemon. The baked rolls are all great and definitely worth trying. All the workers and super nice too, great service :)

We love this place, we come here all the time. We brought our son here when he was in a stroller and it's a second home for him. Food has always been been great and the chefs are amazing.

This place use to have a line out the door, now on a Saturday wide open. Pretty clear why $$$$ Pros: fish was good and fresh. Rolls were good. Cons: everyone has risen prices, but really.... Lots of places with as good but half the cost. See pic of receipt.

The food is excellent but I will never again give my money to people who treat me like crap. My family and I have been there several times and it's always the same - we love the food but suffer horrific customer service. If you don't mind being ignored, treated poorly and disrespected, then go eat at Yamariki. The food is not good enough to be worth that treatment. Keep it up Yamariki!

Steve the man works here!!! Steve used to own his own sushi restaurant, Sushi N Joy in Oceanside next to Trader Joes. He became a good friend to everyone in the community serving up sake and amazing sushi. He watched me grow up and always treated me and my family well. It's great to see him again!! Stop by and say hi to Steve!! He is amazing! A legend in our community!
