Yamashiro - Review - Downtown - Miami - The Infatuation

"Yamashirois an enormous, 100-year-old Japanese restaurant from LA. Their Miami location isn’t as grand—it’s on a hotel rooftop—but it should have a nice view of Downtown. They’ll have wagyu sandos, sushi rolls, a wagyu tomahawk, and more." - Mariana Trabanino

Celebrated my friend’s birthday at this new restaurant and the entire experience was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was incredible, and every single dish came out perfectly. Our waiter and the hostess were warm, attentive, and truly added to the experience. Management even came by several times to check on us, which showed how much they care about their guests. Nothing we ordered missed the mark — everything was flavorful and delicious. This is an outstanding addition to the area, and I will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

Not usually a big seafood guy but Yamashiro changed my mind. Genevieve was wonderful in explaining the menu and had me excited to try things I wouldn’t have had before. This place exceeded expectations. Recommended 12/10.

I had the absolute best experience at Yamashiro! Our server, Cami, was truly exceptional. Her attention to detail was noticeable from the moment we sat down—she anticipated everything we needed without us even having to ask. She also gave the most thoughtful recommendations, and every single one was spot on. On top of that, she was incredibly sweet, kind, and made us feel so welcomed throughout the entire meal. The food itself was a 10/10, packed with flavor and beautifully presented. And the atmosphere? Pure perfection. Between the stunning views and the overall vibe, it made for an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend both the restaurant and asking for Cami—you won’t be disappointed!

Google
Great ambiance, great drinks, good food. Must have the Matcha Martini and the Sando. Ask for Sebastian, he provided a great service and was amazing at explaining each dish in detail. Thank you for the great experience, can’t wait to return.

We had an incredible dinner at Yamashiro last night. Every single dish we ordered was a delicacy — beautifully prepared, thoughtfully plated, and genuinely memorable. The two absolute standouts were the Katsu Sando (perfectly crispy, tender, and rich without being heavy) and the Tuna Tartare, which was so clean and balanced that it set the tone for the entire meal. The pacing of the service was spot-on, and the atmosphere made the experience feel special from beginning to end. A special mention goes to Roni. He elevated the whole night with his professionalism, timing, and hospitality. His recommendations and attention to detail made our experience seamless. If you visit, ask for him, he’s exceptional!

It was just ok. They just opened so they are obviously still ironing out the kinks. I think there is a lot of potential here but many small things that could be improved. - Service wasn't super friendly and could be a bit better, especially when gratuity is already included. The food runner was excellent. She should be waiting tables. - Drinks took a bit but were good when brought out. I think the Japanese Dirty Martini could be more dirty. The Matcha Martini was excellent. - We were disappointed that they were out of many dishes that we were eager to try, like the Crab Gyoza and Scallop Skewer. - The cook on the Sea Bass—which was $68—was awful. Half was dry and the other half was on the verge of being too rare. It was also not seasoned well. - The sushi was the only thing actually worth ordering. Everything else was meh. - We counted four managers on the floor. No one was touching tables or asking us how our meal was. We didn't see them supporting their staff at all during our meal. It seems there was an obvious lack of training. If you're presenting your restaurant as Japanese, the least you could do is respect the ingredients and encourage your staff to be polite.

This place was excellent! The food was delicious, the drinks were elaborate and unique and tasted great. The service and vibes were amazing, feels like you’re in the middle of Japan.

Yelp
The architecture and interior design is phenomenal. The drinks are immaculate, the food was delicious. The service very attentive (thanks Britney!) - and they deserve a raise. It will take some time and is overpriced for the amount of food served. Set your expectations accordingly and prepare for a truly incredible experience. It really is such a vibe for a rooftop restaurant in Miami that leans hardcore into its Japanese cuisine and aesthetic. I particuarly recommend the Fortune Teller and the Matcha Martini cocktails and Truffle Edamame and Duroc Pork Gyoza.

Yelp
Yamashiro in downtown Miami had a really good vibe. Just make reservations in advance. It's inside a hotel on the 9th floor, so you'll either valet ($22) or get dropped off by Uber/Lyft out front. The restaurant is great for private date night, a double date, or even a night out with friends. The staff were on point, Britney took care of us (party of 4) and she was amazing. It was extremely clean, from the tables to the seats to the bathrooms. Definitely an upscale spot. They had a live DJ who knew how to keep the vibe flowing nicely for a Friday night. The only downside for me were the drinks. Their specialty cocktails are premade and they could not make any adjustments. For example, I couldn't switch the brand of vodka or request light syrup, which was disappointing. So I went with a simple vodka soda and a splash of juice. It was fine, but nothing memorable. I really wish they allowed liquor or light ingredient swaps for their specialty drinks. Food-wise, though, everything was great: - Garden Salad = 5 stars! (Very fresh and the dressing was delicious). - Gyoza Wagyu = 5 stars! (perfectly pan-seared, tomato-based, very flavorful) - Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice = 4 stars. (The rice had a nice crunch and the tuna was good, but nothing to set it apart from other tuna on crispy rice dishes I have had.) - Rock Shrimp Tempura = 5 stars! (The tempura was crunchy and shrimp was nicely seasoned) - Wagyu Skewers = 4 stars. (Pieces of meat on a stick, the seasoning was good, the meat was cooked medium and not dry at all.) - Saikyo Miso Salmon = 5 stars! (Wow! perfectly cooked, very soft, and the skin was crispy.) Cauliflower = 4 Stars. (It was a good vegetable side nothing crazy in terms of flavor, the green goddess sauce was good but nothing incredible.) - Miso Butter Corn = 4 Stars. (I did not try this one but my husband, and our sister/brother in law said that it had good flavor but awkward to eat because of the ribbed cut. I'd prefer to see brussels sprouts on the menu instead.) - Crispy Kale & Shiso = 5 Stars! (I also did not try this vegetable side but my sister in law and brother in law enjoyed the kale side.) - Yamashiro Roll = 5 stars! (My husband loved this roll and would get it again. I did not get a photo.) Yamashiro was definitely pricey for four people who ordered two drinks each, but that's expected in Miami. Not a place we'd go all the time, but we're glad we experienced it. Giving it a 4.3 star rating Wishing Yamashiro Miami continued success!

Yelp
I sat at the bar for dinner, which was really nice. It filled up pretty quickly. The cocktails we ordered were all really good, super well-made and different from the usual stuff which was nice. If you want a table though, you definitely need a reservation because the dining room was packed. The vibe overall was really nice and felt elevated without trying too hard. The dining room is honestly so pretty, and the view of downtown is so nice. It's a great rooftop spot whether you're going for dinner or just drinks. We ordered the ceviche, spicy tuna crispy rice, wagyu gyoza, Yamashiro roll, truffle yellowtail roll, and spicy crab roll. My favorites were the wagyu gyoza and the truffle yellowtail roll, but everything was genuinely good, it was actually hard to pick a top two. Overall, amazing vibe, great drinks, really good food. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful: situated on a rooftop in downtown Miami, skyline views, lush greens and sculptures to decorate. The staff was attentive and friendly - they even offered us blankets because it was a windy night. We ordered the Yamashiro Roll, the A5 wagyu/lobster roll, the spicy tuna crispy rice, and the crab dumplings. Great music playing also. I recommend coming here for intimate dinner or date night!

Yelp
I was so excited to stop by this location. I am a regular at the Yamashiro Hollywood and this location treated me very poorly. I wasn't underdressed as my shoes were a thousand dollars and my top was $300, I was dressed stylish but they let me know it's not up to par. I will not be going to this location, I do not recommend the location as the staff treated me very poorly on opening night and really left a sour taste in my mouth. I was so excited for this restaurant but sadly will not be visiting any more. 0/5 stars if I could

Yelp
Last night I had the pleasure of dining at this new restaurant and we were blown away by the beautiful decor and ambiance, delicious food and impeccable service. Our server Alejandro was excellent and the manager Sebastian came by our table several times throughout the meal to ensure our experience was perfect. I highly recommend the wagyu sandos and their take on the chocolate tiramisu. We will be back soon!

Yelp
We went there for my birthday and we loved it! The restaurant's ambience was so inviting and upscale, food was very interesting and delicious, and drinks were pretty! We loved crispy rice spicy tuna- very crispy, and rock shrimps were great which made us order rock shrimp roll( my favorite)! Drinks were a little strange- fortune teller was very specific, i was expecting more whisky flavor, but it tasted more sour. The restaurant is very beautiful, love it that it's outside but feels like you are in Japanese garden! We will be back!!!

Yelp
Loved Yamashiro in LA and was so excited to see it open in Miami. Dinner was great, and our server Cammie was amazing! She served my family and I and was attentive and quick. She was also really sweet and witty, it made the experience even better: Atmosphere was great and was recommended the Bavette. It was so good!! Will be back!

Yelp
I was so excited to try the Miami location but it was a huge disappointment. Food and service sucked. We were going to order apps and sushi separately so we could pace our meal but the waitress had us put everything in together and promised it would be paced. Of course it wasn't. We got hot apps first, half the sushi, cold apps and then the rest of the sushi. In terms of food: the gyoza and the sashimi was good. The rest was horrible. We got a rice pot with overcooked half mush half burnt rice. The rolls were disgusting they were chewy and tasted like they had been left out. Drinks: matcha martini and Negroni were okay. We got the martinis with cart service ($40 each!! But the show seemed fun)) and we literally just got a half empty martini brought by a waiter, no show.

Yelp
Soooo excited they finally opened a Yamashiro in Miami. I moved here from LA and missed going. The food was amazing and the restaurant was designed so beautifully. The staff was really nice, my server Cammie was great. I'll definitely be back again soon!
