Restaurant Yamato

One of the best sushi I've ever had. We tried shitake mushrooms, scallops with Japanese plum sauce, yellow tail and spring onion hoso maki roll, as well as nigiri - wild sea bass, salmon, and their bluefin tuna belly was outstanding!

Excellent place for sushi, first of all, for people with disabilities, help is required since there are stairs, there is one table at the entrance, when you need to book in advance. The design is impressive and authentic, the place is super clean, the staff is generous and welcoming, the food looks absolutely aesthetic, fresh and very tasty. The prices are reasonable according to the quality of the place and definitely worth every price.

We just loved the experience — it was one of the best in Prague (almost like in Japan). The food was fresh, and every detail of the dish was explained to us. Def try their set menu (with sake!) We didn’t find any flaws. Perhaps the choice of sushi and sashimi was overwhelming. But we don’t see it as a major issue Def worth it for a special occasion or celebration 💘🍾

Fency restaurant, if you like traditional Japanese food it's the place. Service is really good and all the food we ordered was tasty

Was told wonderful things about Yamato, and they were accurate. Peaceful interior with stellar service. Excellent Japanese cuisine offering Toro, which if you haven’t had, is a must. This was a wonderful evening of superior food in comfort. At first the prices seem high, but not after you have eaten as the fish is obviously fresh.

Biggest scam - don’t trust the high review or Taste of Prague. I was extremely disappointed by the tasting menu here. Everything about it was just crazy. $200 each for a subpar culinary experience. I’d even use the word “bad” - my stomach hurt afterwards and the wines are all mediocre ones from Spain/France. Salmon from Canada? Tuna was flavorless. A weird tofu ball. Avoid at all costs!

Fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere, and friendly service. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates fine Japanese food.

Unexpectedly real Japanese experience in Prague! We had the menu at dinner and it was excellent, highly recommended and very reasonable price for value!

I've lived around the corner from this place for years and finally dropped in last week. It was the first time I had sushi made by white guys and I was a little nervous, but they blew us away. The fish was fresh and perfectly sliced and presented. These guys definitely know their stuff. Our waiter was pleasant, knowledgable, and, most importantly, seemed really proud of their product. He described their specials in detail and we tried all of them. They were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered nigiri of tuna marinated in dark beer (I think...). My first thought was, "oh, great, Czechs destroying a gorgeous piece of tuna by dousing it in beer." I was way off- the flavors worked together perfectly without killing the taste of the fish. They had excellent specials of "maki" with foie gras wrapped in Angus tenderloin, raw shrimp nigiri (tough to find in Prague, totally worth it), and something with fried avocado. They all came with their own sauce that nicely balanced the flavors. My favorite was the otoro, the fatty tuna belly. Most places that serve sake toro serve the part from the rear of the fish which is nice, but this was on a whole new level or fattiness and flavor to the point where it just melts on your tongue.

Very nice upscale place with good ambiance. Great and friendly service. Very interesting and extensive menu. The Sushi I had was quite good although on the expensive side. Would be perfect for a special occasion or romantic date.

Fantastic meal, fantastic service. Chefs and waitstaff incredibly friendly and accommodating. Came in at 10 without knowing the kitchen was about to close, but was still properly accommodated without feeling particularly rushed at all. Didn't expect to find such incredible sushi in Czech Republic. Tuna makki rolls might've been the freshest tuna I've had. Racked up a giant bill; this place is NOT cheap, But worth every crown. Will be coming back here again!

The last time we went, the food was good, but they charged us extra for less than impressive wasabi. My husband went out of town, so I thought I'd give Yamato a try again. They treated me very well. The food was spot on, the rice tea delicious and the service impeccable. Impressed.
