Google
This restaurant is amazing, the food came out fast, it hit all the right spots, savory, sweet, rich, and most of all filling! The atmosphere was calm and cozy, and the staff were quick to serve us! I had went there for my birthday and they served me a slice of tiramisu with a pretty pink candle on it and wish me a happy birthday, I am so touched, I will be coming here again!

Google
First time visit here, but wow! It was great! Nice quiet atmosphere, not crowded at 7pm on a Friday, quick service. It smelled very clean when arriving at the booth, and I had ramen with extra crab meat. A dollar goes a long way with their bowl portions. It was delicious.

Google
The vibe here is pure chill, relaxed atmosphere with lighting that feels like it’s set to ‘mood,’ even if it makes spotting your food a bit of a peek-a-boo challenge. I built myself a three-protein poke bowl (yes, I was feeling ambitious) and it was absolutely worth it. The ordering system with the little card? Genius. It takes away the weird invisible stress of ordering that I didn’t even know I had until it vanished. We sampled a few appetizers, each one was either spot-on or exceeded expectations, and then discovered their boba teas, which honestly felt like a plot twist. We tried a couple and were blown away by the flavors. If happiness could be served with tapioca pearls, this is it. Bottom line: come hungry, leave happy, and don’t be surprised if you start recommending the ordering card system to every other restaurant you visit."*

Google
The Tonkotsu (pork) broth Ramen at this restaurant is highly recommended. The generous portion size is complemented by the excellent ramen noodles, which are topped with a variety of ingredients including fish cake, egg, corn, and seaweed. While the pork steam bun is satisfactory, it does not quite reach the level of my personal preference.

Google
I got the vegan udon bowl. I believe they meant to put vegetarian instead, because egg was listed under the vegan option. You need to ask for no egg. It was a good portion. I added veggies for $1 and the veggies appeared to be bok choy and corn. No complaints!

Google
I was in a bit of a hurry but did not want fast food. I have passed by Yamato several times and never stopped. The waitress helped me decide on what I wanted in my Poke bowl and the sauces that would work. It was so good and light but filling and reasonably priced. I will definitely go back.

Google
I’m a handicapped veteran (29) and this is the worst takoyaki and ramen I’ve ever had. I didn’t even finish my food and asked for it to be taken off because it was soo bad but the owners are cheap and just gave me a small discount instead of making it right. The extra meat I had asked for in my ramen was just fat. No flavor and dry as hell. Never going back again.

Jacky M.

Google
This a great place to get Poke, Ramen, boba! Doesn’t disappoint. You can build your own poke bowl, customize your boba! Photos are from all the different times I’ve been.

Yelp
Yamato is fine, just fine. Prices are really good but the food is just basic. It's like this place is trying to cater to a western pallet, which is truly unfortunate. This is no where near an authentic ramen, the poke is alright - not great but fine. The restaurant is clean, and service is prompt and nice. It's never very busy when we come in, usually during a late lunch. You make your selection on a piece of paper, selecting what you want with a provided pen. The ramen broth is fine - not bad but not good, there is no depth to it. They load the Tonkotsu with bok choy, onion, and corn. The Chashu is browned nicely, and the egg yolk is soft - but that's the best thing in the meal... the bok choy never ends, they put a lot in. When you're in the area and want a cheap Japanese/Hawaiian (Poke) inspired food, or some bubble tea stop in for a lunch. If you're looking for authenticity, maybe move on.

Yelp
Food was better then I expected the waitress help with the ingredients it was delicious

Yelp
The place is spotless. Nice art, staff are friendly. The food is excellent, I had chicken and it was very tender juicy and full of flavor. The apps were good. Lots of bubble tea options.
google avatar

Alisa G.

Yelp
I ordered a tonkotsu ramen this time and the flavor was significantly better than the spicy miso I ordered the first time.

Yelp
We have never had ramen from a restaurant before and wanted to try it. I'm not sure if it was this ramen or all restaurant ramen but we didn't care for it. I don't have anything to compare it to so take that with a grain of salt. 3 stars because the staff was very friendly and the menu is extensive. The kids liked they could customize their boba tea. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and the decorations are fun to look at.
google avatar

Yelp
I was excited to try this place. Service is slow. There are plenty of available tables inside. The place wasn't busy on a Thursday night. Unfortunately, their Ramen is not good. It was like cumin soup with bunch of dough.

Yelp
***A WARNING TO ALL VEGANS/VEGETARIANS/THOSE WITH MEAT ALLERGY**** Immensely disappointed with Yamato's today. My husband and I have dined here fairly regularly since we moved to the area a year ago, and I am very grateful for the server who told us the truth about one of the menu items today. The broth that is quite literally labeled on the menu as "Vegan Soy Base" is NOT ACTUALLY VEGAN AND CONTAINS A SMALL AMOUNT OF MEAT BROTH. So this entire time, I have been unknowingly eating small amounts of meat. My trust is violated, and having such a misleading label is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I am especially concerned about those with a life-threatening allergy potentially eating this. Apparently the miso broth itself is what is actually vegan, so if you request that, there shouldn't be meat broth if you still choose to eat here. To be honest though, it really didn't taste good, and I felt really put off from eating it anyway. Sadly I will not be coming back here again, and just wanted to give a heads up to anyone else who does choose to come here.

Yelp
A fairly new establishment off of Parkside Dr, this places offers another yummy place to enjoy ramen, hibachi, poke bowls, and other yummy Asian apps and even boba. They have a dine in area and outdoor patio, based on my time there, they're popular for take out as well. I was dining at a non-popular time of 3pm on a Saturday but the business still seemed pretty steady. I decided to have the gyoza, flash fried pork dumplings and they had the right balance of crunch and steamed pork yumminess on the inside. The soy ginger sauce was also a nice compliment. As a sucker for ramen, I just had to try it. I decided it gave tonkatsu broth with pork. The broth was flavorful and the corn, green onions, and bok choy were cooked great. The egg is a make or break for me and I though the egg was a bit over done and the pork had a bit more fat than my liking, nevertheless, this was a very well rounded bowl. The ramen noodles were also plentiful. They have many combos you can choose from including miso and veggie broth that you can also make spicy. A variety of proteins to complete your bowl and a choice between the thinner ramen or thicker udon noodle. You order your choices on a check box pad of paper and the food came out fairly quick.

Yelp
Yamato Ramen House is a new restaurant in the Farragut area. I saw it while I was driving along Parkside Drive and had to stop! I'm glad I arrived at the right time because it started to get busy for lunch. The menu is easy to read with options for Appetizer, Hibachi, Noodles, Poke Bowl, and Bubble Tea. I decided to order Gyoza and Spicy Tonkatsu Shrimp Udon. I was hungry and tried to eat it all, but will have to finish it for dinner. The restaurant was quiet considering the amount of people in it. I guess everyone was too busy enjoying their food! I will be back to try other items on the menu....especially that Bubble Tea!

Yelp
First time checking this place out. Really my first time trying out ramen at a place. Very tasty, nothing horrible about my experience .
google avatar

Natalie E.

Yelp
I am so glad that Farragut/Turkey Creek finally has a Ramen shop. It's a decent sized restaurant, clean and well lit. Yamato doesn't disappoint with fresh ramen at a competitive price with all the traditional fixings. I had the pork and my son had the shrimp. It was delicious. They also have Boba and Poke Bowls. The only thing we'd change was the calamari. It seemed frozen and not fresh then fried. We will be back to try more.
google avatar

Justin H.

Yelp
Yamato is a new Japanese restaurant in Turkey Creek (located where Newks used to be). The menu interested us because there are not many places that offer a Japanese style ramen bowl. They also have poke bowls, hibachi, and several appetizers (i.e. steamed pork buns). I had the spicy miso ramen bowl and it was great. The dish included bowl egg, bok choy, and a generous amount of meat. Really delicious -- especially on a cold day. I think these bowls are really unique because most of the other broth/noodle bowl places are "pho" style / Vietnamese. Those are good too. But, I think people will enjoy trying Yamato's style because the flavors and preparation are different. Other than the bowl, we also had a poke bowl and the steamed pork buns. Those were excellent too. In addition to good food, Yamato excelled in service and were very friendly. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend a stop if you are out in Turkey Creek / West Knoxville.

Yelp
We are still coming back! I think for a little while the quality of the food, particularly the Hibatchi steak, took a dip but we had it last night and it's back to being flavorful and tender without being tough or stringy. Still ordering ramen and loving it. Still ordering cream cheese wontons every time! We always get bubble tea, too, though I'm not noticing much difference when you mark 30% sweet vs 100% sweet. There's a little bit of a difference but not as much as I would expect. 30% is still pretty sweet! And we've learned you can ask for half and half flavors--chocolate banana or strawberry coconut (or banana!) are so yummy! We need to try chocolate strawberry next! My daughter loves taro flavor and I think it tastes like Cap'n Crunch milk if anyone isn't sure what it tastes like. Service is prompt though sometimes it's a little slow getting refills on soda or water. Food comes out fast. We are usually in and out in about 45 mins or less. I'm sad that the restaurant never seems full because we love this spot and have always been satisfied with our meals. I guess on the plus side you'll probably always get seated right away.
google avatar

Molly B.

Yelp
The worst hibachi I've ever had. Overly salty and the scallops were way over cooked and tough. The server didn't even try to take it off my check. Very displeased.

Yelp
Back again, 4th time! This place never fails to provide excellent food, service and a peaceful atmosphere. Don't miss this spot to dine!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, great service and nice choices to pick from and create your perfect poke bowl or Ramen/Udon noodle bowl... Hibachi choices available too! Everything was fresh and hot!! We had calamari appetizer and it was cooked/ fried to perfection! Nice addition to Turkey Creek! We both split a Udon noodle bowl with a miso base and shrimp and chicken, bok choy, corn, and a mixture of veggies and a hard boiled egg that was cut in half that was absolutely delicious.! Plenty for the two of us! If you haven't been there, it's well worth the try..we enjoyed it! Two Bubble teas to go and we were off!

Yelp
The food was about 3.5 stars for me. Service was quick. Inside restaurant was a casual dining experience. I tend to order a couple of things religiously at Ramen houses. Always the spicy Tonkotsu miso ramen with the pork roll, and gyoza. The gyoza, meh. It tasted like a box of frozen blandness. When fried created super crunchy edges that were inedible. The spicy tonkotsu wasn't spicy at all, the noodles were cooked to perfection, the broth was a hard pass for me. In other places I have had ramen, you get a rich, umami style broth. This was boiled water. With a few seasonings it it that came from the pork roll. The pork roll was pretty good for me, the eggs as well were cooked to the usual expectations of a good ramen bowl.
google avatar

Dan J.

Yelp
I didn't realize that Newks had closed until I drove by and saw the new sign. Had the spicy miso chicken Ramen. Good amount of meat, noodles and veggies with a good broth. Could have been more spicier, but other than that it was good. Pretty good s8zed crowd when I left.
google avatar

Brooke H.

Yelp
Probably won't be back. Great service and lovely decor. I particularly loved the hanging table lamps. However, I did not love the gyoza or my ramen. The gyoza was the store bought frozen kind, and I prefer fresh gyoza. I ordered the spicy Tonkotsu with udon noodles and pork. I'm used to the pork being seared before adding it to the broth so it is slightly crispy. This pork was just flabby strips of fat and not appealing at all. The broth was great and extremely flavorful. I appreciated that you can adjust the sugar level of the boba tea.

Yelp
Ramen! Poke! Hibachi! It was great to have different levels of sweetness to my bubble tea! The restaurant had plenty of room, not packed in, CLEAN! Sunday afternoon, 3 for dinner. Our waitress greeted us with a smile, and delivered our menu choices promptly. Portion sizes are very good. Calamari was a bit overbreaded, still delivered hot. Japanese rolls had perfect crunchiness, edaname plentiful. We decided hibachi, steak and shrimp choices - came to our table warm (the plates were a pretty stoneware) Perfectly cooked... Priced very well for the portion sizes. Definitely a 2nd visit required to try out the ramen!

Ric C.

Yelp
Great service and food The ramen had many options to allow you to personalize how you want it

Lydia B.

Yelp
Service is friendly. Restaurant is clean and the decor is cute. I haven't had their ramen but I love their poke, especially because they have both non fish and vegetarian options available. The price is great for the fresh quality of the food.

Yelp
Just had lunch with my wife at this newly opened ramen place (1 week) in Knoxville Turkey Creek area. Overall, this is a nice addition for ramen restaurants. Our waitress Elaine is very friendly and attentive. The dining area is spacious. This restaurant serves poke bowl and Japanese hibachi grill dishes in addition to the ramen noodles and bubble tea. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptic when I saw their larger choices of food items because this usually means that they can't execute well for any one good. But with a pleasant surprise, the ramen is good. When I eat ramen, I judge them based on all four key ingredients, i.e. soup base, noodle, meat, and the Ajitsuke Tamago (soft boiled egg) First off, you can choose different soup base here. So I choose the spicy tonkotsu soup base. This soup base taste with just enough saltiness. Although it is not as good as Ramen Bone, it is much better than any other ramen restaurants in Knoxville and a few in Atlanta. So I give this a 4. For the noodle, this is fairly standard across different ramen restaurants. So this is a 3. For the meat, you can also choose different meat. The charred pork that I chosen is good. Although it has a bit too much fat portion than meat to my taste, tonkotsu meat should have some fat in the meat. So this is fine for this. I will give it a 3.5. For the egg, they execute well in this. The egg yoke does show translucent look and the texture is just right. It is not too salty. So I will give a 4 on this. But if I want to be very picky, I wish that they have those Shichimi Togarashi (Japanese Hot Spice). So please stock up a few...:) Overall, this is a good alternative to Ramen Bone. But if I have to compare the two. Ramen Bone has a slight edge for their more authentic taste in the soup.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing. We had the pork buns as an appetizer and they were some of the best we have had in knoxville. He had the ramen with pork broth and pork meat super delicious and alot of flavor. I had the poke bowl with crab, spicy tuna and salmon and all the other toppings and it was one of the best poke bowls I have had. The bubble teas were super good. I had the passion fruit green tea with mango boba. He had a strawberry and mango with tapioca balls. Both were so delicous and refreshing. The service was amazing as well our sever was super helpful and had wonderful reccomendations.

Courtney G.

Yelp
A great place to go if you like waiting an exceptionally long amount of time for the wrong order. I don't know if our order got lost or something, but it took at least 15 mins to even place the order and then at least 40 to get one meal and something we didn't order. Never received drinks until waiter was reminded twice to bring them. Had to remind the waiter twice on the appetizer and then after reminding him again about the ramen, just decided to cut our losses and cancel the order. What little food we got to try was mediocre. If you want Japanese, I recommend literally anything else.

Chloe C.

Yelp
Service is always good. Love the bubble tea. My favorite is the taro with tapioca! For the ramen the egg and bak choi is not for me.
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
Im currently sitting in the dining room. I've watched one employee eat food at the host stand while talking to a guest. Once the customer left, the employee went to roll silverware, without washing her hands. She just got up and started vaping in the restaurant as she was walking to the back of the house. This is not okay. I know you're short staffed but you should still enforce rules. Won't be back for quite some time. The food is BLAND and lacks flavor. Won't last long
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
The food was fresh, hot and delicious!!! A server named Eli really help me to understand the menu. I also had a Coconut Bubble Milk. It was also very flavorful. My husband ate the Steak Hibachi. They gave him more than enough food an it came with salad and soup. Definitely a great atmosphere to. Clean bathrooms!
google avatar

Raven B.

Yelp
This is my first visit there and the place was clean and servers friendly. Large amounts of food for lunch servings of ramen and the hibachi chicken and steak. The gyoza we had was perfect and cooked well. But the fried rice with the hibachi tasted like old oil from a need to be cleaned grill. I was very disappointed as I love Japanese rice. Most Japanese restaurants use butter and garlic vs oil, but it was the old unclean grill to flavor that most got me. I took one bite and didn't touch the rice again. The steak was cooked perfectly and the chicken and veggies were very good as well. Service was friendly and on time with everything. The ramen was flavorful and delicious! I'm willing to give this place another chance, but hopefully the rice will be better.

Yelp
My husband loves Raman so we just had to try Yamato! The staff is very friendly and prompt, our server Phoenix was very professional and was able to answer all our questions! The menu has a good variety of Ramen, hibachi, poke, and bubble teas. My husband had the spicy ramen with beef and said it was really good but needed to be hotter temperature wise. I thought the same about my miso soup, but both items were delicious. Prices are fair and portions are large! We will return again
google avatar

Ryan A.

Yelp
Visited Yamato for lunch and was disappointed in service and food experience. My wife and I each ordered poke bowls with spring mix. The poke bowl came with a small amount of iceburg lettuce and the toppings we ordered were so little that it was amusing. My wife ordered tofu as her protein and it came with 3 bite sized cubes. We offered feedback (not asking for additional food) and the waitress argued with us, explaining "tofu was expensive". We also explained the difference in spring mix versus iceburg and she shrugged it off. I will add that my daughter had the Ramen and she really enjoyed it. From what I can tell, it looked really good.
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
We just had dinner at Yamato in Turkey Creek, and I decided to write a review while it's fresh in my mind. First, I need to clarify that this was my first ramen/poke bowl experience. I love Thai, Chinese, Mediterranean, Mexican, and most all other types of food, so I figured this would be great - and it probably is great if ramen/poke bowls are your thing. We were welcomed and seated quickly, and our server Jason explained the entire process. He answered all our questions and was absolutely great. I ordered the Miso Ramen with shrimp and duck, seaweed, bok choy, corn and udon. My precious bride ordered a salad bowl with crabmeat and assorted veggies. We got the pork buns for an appetizer. The dishes looked beautiful, the pork buns were interesting and pretty tasty with the dipping sauce. The wife's salad was good and fresh, but the crabmeat was two small strips of imitation crabmeat. As for me, tonight was the night I found out that I don't like Miso Ramen. The duck was basically duck bones with duck skin, the shrimp was hard and rubbery with tails intact, the udon noodles were good, the bok choy and corn were, well, bok choy and corn. There was also a boiled egg amongst the flotsam and jetsam. Everything was swimming in a pale, shrimpy-smelling swill of miso with a square of seaweed floating on top. I just didn't like it. I ate it, because (a) I ordered it, and (b) I was paying for it. We're going back to try the hibachi, and I'm sure it will be fine. The four stars are for the cleanliness of the place, the attentive staff (way to go, Jason!), and the fresh ingredients. I stopped short of five stars due only to the terribly overcooked shrimp and the stinginess with the imitation crabmeat. The fact that I didn't like what I ordered isn't the restaurant's fault. Sidenote - we both had the bubble tea (boba?), and it was really good.

Rachael C.

Yelp
The place has an over whelming smell of fabuloso. It's so pungent that you can't even smell or taste the food.
google avatar

Hany H.

Yelp
So this was my first time coming to Yamato with my best friend and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed by my dining experience. The waitress that helped us was super sweet and very helpful and the food was incredibly delicious. The Milk Tea was pretty good and our Calamari and Spring Roll appetizers were piping hot. Will definitely visit again!

UTshrink S.

Yelp
We had read the reviews. We considered if we should still try it since we were close and craving ramen. We decided to give it a chance. Huge mistake. The only positive was the gyoza. Delicious. The bao buns were palatable but that's all. Little to no flavor. But this ramen.... this ramen is next level horrific. The broth which was supposed to be spicy had ZERO flavor. Now, I know you think I mean not much flavor, but please read again. ZERO FLAVOR. It was barely warm when it was served and I'm fairly certain it was leftover from one or two nights before. I had beef and tofu, but since there was no flavor in the broth, guess what else had no flavor- the tofu. The beef was cold, and when we asked the server (who was nice) about it, he explained that it was previously cooked (who knows when) and kept under a heat lamp. He added there was no nice way of explaining the temperature of the meat than that. I ate the noodles and a couple of cubes of tofu and that was it. The meat is buried down in this bowl, along with my misplaced hopes of a decent lunch. Do not eat here. Do not think the reviewers got it wrong and it's not THAT bad. Yes. Yes, it is. Don't make the same mistake we did. Go to Fin Two instead.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
We love coming to Yamato! We usually visit once a month, especially for their pork buns. While the ramen is solid, I prefer the hibachi and the poke bowls. The portions are generous and we always end up taking some home. Service can be a bit slow, so don't be in a hurry. Or if you are in a hurry, go early when they open.
google avatar

Olenia S.

Yelp
Food and service was great. Definitely coming back Bible tea was good also. Great place to eat.

Elaine F.

Yelp
Sushi is amazing. Great variety too staff was very helpful in guiding us through the menu

Fonda W.

Yelp
We have eaten here twice at lunchtime. The results were mixed. One time both dishes (Noodle bowls) were great. Everything was very fresh, and the server was helpful. The second time our server couldn't have care less if we left (something on his phone was much more riveting), and the food was less than stellar. In fact, one diner left the fish on the plate, suspecting it's freshness and the habachi dinner was just mediocre. The restaurant can seat lots of people but parking is limited. There is very little in the way of ambiance, with piped in music, lots of hard surfaces. If there were a lot of people, I suspect it would be quite loud.
google avatar

Silece M.

Yelp
I had ramen, husband had stir fry. Vegetables and rice were microwaved and cold in the middle. Mine was a miso ramen . . . . The same one you can get at lucky mart in the frozen section. We went on a Groupon and STILL had to pay $28 after the $20 Groupon. The boba had a weird after taste. Not impressed and not going back.
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
Dodd and service was outstanding. The broth had an amazing taste as well as the vegetables. Would not recommend the calamari unless you like heavy breading. But everything else, amazing!!!!!

Heather M.

Yelp
This place was so disappointing. The food lacked flavor, selection was poor and tables were sticky. As I sat waiting for my food, I witnessed employees eating food while rolling silverware, eating food at the front register, and even vaping! I can't imagine working at a restaurant that allows this behavior. The employees and possibly even Manager really need to be trained or fired. I won't be going back to say the least.

Anna S.

Yelp
5 stars for our waitress, she was great! Super nice and attentive. But the food just left a lot to be desired. I had the hibachi chicken. While it was customized to order perfectly as I requested, the quality of food just wasn't great. The chicken had the texture of a scallop, and the rice was dry. This place was almost empty on a Thursday night, I guess that should've been a warning.
google avatar

Jerrod H.

Yelp
Best ramen in Knoxville. Wish the spicy was actually spicy but I always add more chili sauce to mine anyways. Corn in ramen was a new one for me and so I always opt to leave that off. Not the best ramen I have had in other larger cities but a decent fill in for Knoxville. Service was good and the place was clean.
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
Food was great, Poke bowl and apps, service was perfect (Angi.) Lots of options. This was my 4th visit, service was much better than the first few times so If service was an issue give them another try as they have made improvements.
google avatar

Pei C.

Yelp
My fiancé and I went there for dinner and we ordered Gyoza it was delicious! He got miso seafood ramen noodle soup and I got miso tofu ramen noodle soup, perfect for winter time to eat. My fiancé and I definitely will go back again. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was very delicious for a place that had just opened up recently. Anyone looking to get a good bowl of ramen I would recommend going here.

Yelp
Delicious ramen and big servings! The kid's chicken teriyaki was good, too! Nice servers, cool atmosphere! Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
We got there on a Saturday night and they were understaffed, so I think ordinarily their service would be better. But they essentially got all of our orders wrong nevertheless, what they did bring us was very good.
