"Cozy spot Yamazaru is go-to for American classic (think plenty of cream cheese) and specialty rolls, but many claim the chirashi bowl is the can’t-miss on the menu. If the dining room is full, there is outdoor seating." - Parker Milner, Erin Perkins

This place is a must-visit for sushi lovers! Everything was fantastic. The miso soup was divine, and we tried the Kiss a Fire Roll, Black Diamond, and The Snazzy — all three were absolutely amazing. Highly recommend and would definitely order them again. The atmosphere was inviting and the space was clean and well-maintained. We stopped in on a Tuesday night for dinner without a reservation and were seated promptly. Despite it being a busy night, the staff was friendly, accommodating, and got our order in quickly. The food came out in exceptional timing, which was impressive. This was my first time here, and I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Charlotte. If you’re looking for great sushi with excellent service, this is the place to go!

Google
Absolutely one of my favorite place for sushi! Great prices and the food and service are always amazing. You have to try the Zootopia roll ~ even though it’s not on the new menu, It’s tempura absolutely delicious! Love that you can even create your own roll without rice, This is our guaranteed go-to for delicious sushi every time!!!!

Google
Great Service! Great Food! Great Ambience! My wife tried sushi for the first time, and loved it! Will definitely be back! The bacon wrapped scallops are delicious!! The Green topped sushi with pico de gallo is a hidden menu item, our server informed us of! It was great! Try it!

Raissa Nivoloni

Google
The best sushi in Charlotte!! Service is amazing and the food is always fresh and delicious. My husband and I go there every week and it is always a pleasant experience.

Vic

Google
My favorite goto place. They are usually always busy but have always got us in rather quickly. The customer service is phenomenal ! Very attentive. We get the same thing everytime… Westwood roll, California roll and gladiator roll and a side of steam dumplings. Never fails.

Chamal Mediwaka

Google
Sushi is great and the martinis are really good as well. Price was reasonable for the quality of the food and I would totally go back!

Google
It was my first visit with my friends. We had the lychee martini to start with, the cocktail was very spot on! Host was very attentive regardless how busy it was. Our server Eric was funny, he provided the most enjoyable experience! The owner Hata stopped by to talk to us, very personal and hospitality! I ordered the hamachi Jalapeño and Chirashi special. I’m a sushi lover, the sashimi was very fresh! I loved it! Definitely worth the visit!

Google
Kiss of Fire: 4/5 - Kiss of fire was good. Packed with flavors of tuna, salmon, spicy mayo, crunch, etc. Some pieces had perfect amount of tuna filling while others had very little filling. Crazy Horse: 2/5 - It was messy to eat the Crazy Horse sushi as the fillings weren’t rolled tightly. The avocado and cucumber pieces were falling out. Taste was bland. We ordered from UberEats. No soy sauce was provided.

Yelp
Vibey, dimly lit and low key dinner spot in the South End - Charlotte where the food is delicious and the drinks are cold (or hot if that's your thing)! Came here on a work trip for a quick Monday night sushi roll and a cocktail - this place blew me out of the water. Reasonably priced for what I got with outstanding service. $55 for 2 speciality rolls and a middle class bourbon pour. Entrees: The Snazzy (pictured) Red Dragon Roll Will definitely be back to try more of this place. Hoping to bring my fiancée so I can introduce more people to this great restaurant!

Yelp
My first visit to Yamazaru was enough to ensure my return. I met a friend for dinner on a Friday evening. Parking wasn't too difficult, and there were a few close spaces available. Prepare to use the Park Mobile app if you dine here. The server gave us a code to use for a credit. The ambiance was that of a fun, lively restaurant on a Friday night. All of the food was fresh and tasty. I have a preference for my calamari to be fried harder. I typically don't enjoy it at much when it's prepared like what I have pictured, but it was good. The dumplings, sushi, and drinks were a hit. Our server was also a lot of fun. My friend is pretty particular about what she eats and drinks, and he made a few ingredient adjustments for her without any hassle. We had a great time and will return.

Yelp
Love this place! It is Rusan's sister restaurant and they never disappoint! The sushi is a great price and it's a great location! Love the staff! They've been around forever and always take good care of us!

Angela L.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this modern take on Japanese food. Stylish decor and lively atmosphere. We sat at the bar because it was packed this particular day. The service was superb! The Geisha cocktail was refreshing and light. For food, we had the Brussels sprouts to start. They were nice and crispy, but I personally could have used a little more ponzu sauce and a twist of sea salt to finish them off but they were still tasty. Then we had the salmon belly roll. Delicious, especially with a sliver of ginger and a dab of wasabi. We both tried the seafood fried rice which I changed up a little to add chicken and broccoli. Very unique flavor and it tasted even better the next day as the flavors had more time to meld. The next day, you say? Yes because the serving was just that huge! I'll be back to try more items.

Yelp
I finally got to check this spot out the other week. I ordered my boyfriend and I a few sushi rolls through DoorDash and really really enjoyed what I got! We tried the snazzy, kiss of fire, mango de tango and Ichiban rolls and honestly I liked all of them! My favs were the snazzy and kiss of fire though. This was truly some of the best sushi I've had in a while. Especially considering this was a delivery meal, which can be hit or miss just because of the time spent in the car. These rolls were extremely full of flavor and fresh. I also ordered the cream cheese dip, which is crab wontons essentially and they were just okay. I always order this side whenever I get sushi, because it was such a fav growing up. I have yet to find a place that executes these really well. But it didn't matter because the sushi was so good! The wontons weren't bad either, just nothing exciting. I would love to actually dine inside the restaurant soon since this delivery experience was so great! Highly recommend checking this spot out for some dope sushi!!!

Melissa R.

Yelp
I recently dined here and had an OK experience. One thing I appreciated about this restaurant is that they offer one hour of free parking, which is quite convenient in a bustling city like Charlotte. I had the seafood yakisoba. This dish had flavorful stir-fry of wheat noodles and included a variety of seafood and a mix of vegetables. The combination of these fresh seafood ingredients with the savory yakisoba sauce created a rich taste. I also had a specialty roll and unfortunately I do not remember the name but I have included a photo! It was super good.

Yelp
Went here for a dinner date with the wife tonight. It's been a couple years since we been here. Arrived at 9:30pm and it was pretty busy. We were able to get a table immediately. The table and space was kind of small. The staff was really nice. I recognized that most of them have worked at Rusa before. We ordered a bunch of appetizers. The tempura is ok nothing amazing. We had a couple more apps nothing really stood out as amazing but nothing was bad either. My wife got a chirasi bowl and the sashimi was pretty fresh. She enjoyed it and it's an amazing price for what you get. I had chicken fried rice and it was moist and very flavorful. I ordered a couple of steak nigiri. I would pass on the steak and eggs as the sauce didn't sit well with me. The waygu nigiri now that was the star of the show. The waygu was slightly seared with a hint of sweet soy. Man did it melt in your mouth and burst with the fat of waygu. It wasn't the best I ever had but for 15 dollar for 2 piece it was a great deal for what you get. We enjoyed dinner here and definitely will put this on our sushi place to go. Is it top tier I wouldn't say so but it definitely a nice spot to go have a sushi dinner with a love one.

Aimee N.

Yelp
This is a more of a 3.5 I ordered delivery of the 8pc nigiri/shrimp tempura roll which came with miso soup. I also ordered a squid salad. The squid salad had a great flavor but was a really small portion over shredded iceberg lettuce. The miso soup was delicious!! I love the fact that nigiri included octopus and scallop. It was a nice mixture of fish and they were all decent. What I did not like was the shrimp tempura roll. I honestly thought they accidentally gave me a California roll. Where was the shrimp?

Yelp
The Aesthetic: Modern, classy sushi and ramen spot with a variety of Japanese favorites. The Price: For the location, the rolls and dishes are pretty affordable, and they are generous with the portion sizes. The Parking: The restaurant is in a shopping plaza, so there is a massive amount of parking. However, the parking is all paid so you have to take a picture of your license for them to validate your parking! My Order: I've had a few rolls I thoroughly enjoyed here. The Saru Hand Roll and Red Monkey stood out to me recently for the generous, fresh portions of fish. I've also had the curry rice ball appetizer, and it was surprisingly filling and tasted like a warming Japanese curry. I love iced green tea with my rolls, and they make me my own pot of tea with ice on the side since they don't serve iced tea. The servers are super kind! The Conclusion: If I'm in the neighborhood, this is one my go to sushi spots, I highly recommend trying it!

Karla C.

Yelp
MY FAVORITE SPOT EVER! love this place, and love the people who work here. Food is unbelievable!!

Jasmine J.

Yelp
Updated review . can confidently say food is better dining in than delivery. Had the Katsu curry bowl and it was very good . Very crowded place at night, so best to get on the waitlist. Took 20 minutes to get a table .

Ni E.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday for lunch and was immediately seated. Service was quick and very friendly. Would definitely come back again to try more of the sushi.

Nikki S.

Yelp
Yamazaru has the best quality sushi in Charlotte. Been coming here for 3 years and never disappoints!

Jacey M.

Yelp
Finding good sushi pots is harder to find than you think.. but this place nails it. The rice isn't packed too tight or too thick. Everything I ordered was balanced perfectly and absolutely delicious. You have to order one of the traditional Japanese rolls. It might seem "too simple" but oh boy is it delicious (and on the budget friendly side). I recently ordered the yellow tail one and it was drool worthy. The restaurant is small and the wait can get long, quickly. But if you are faced with a long wait time, do not fret. It is worth it! I haven't been with a large group so I can not speak to that experience; however, I still think it's one of the best sushi spots in town. It is on the pricey-er side, but again, the quality is high and worth it if you want to treat yourself. Definitely one of my favorites.

Veronica C.

Yelp
Food: Everything I had was amazing. Here is what was ordered: ceviche, seaweed salad. Had 3 rolls and each was amazing. My fav was one of their specials the Jaime. The drinks were great: the old fashion, the he aperol spritz and a delish tequila and mezcal surprise drink. Service: got super lucky that there was seating at the bar - so got to experience the amazing service Jackie gives everyone. They were super busy, but extremely attentive. Ambiance: fun, great music.

Abigail T.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and Ivan and his team were incredible! He recommended sake and drinks plus made them so well! We had a wonderful night because of their special treatment! Very yummy sushi rolls! Highly recommend!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Wow!!! This was our first time here. The sushi was to die for and the service was amazing - we will definitely be back! We chose the volcano roll, south end roll (no jalapeños), edamame & miso soup. South end roll will be new go to!

Trapgod N.

Yelp
Hamachi jalapeño was yummy for $12 and 5 pieces isn't too bad would come back just for that the other rolls were mid

Christin N.

Yelp
Service is very SLOW but it was a Saturday busy. Not personable at all! Sushi was just mediocre. Drinks were just ok too. Cool Hip Spot but wasn't a big fan of drinks or food unfortunately!

Jenny Z.

Yelp
We ordered the brussel sprouts, ramen, and chirashi bowl. Seriously great quality fish and great apps. I've been several times and they even validate parking. Service was great, although a pretty long wait on weekend.

Cecillia A.

Yelp
Love coming here because their menu reminds me of ru sans menu, big menu and a lot of things to choose from. First, the food is always good. The price is unbeatable. I feel like I could order the whole menu when I come here. I've never have not like what I ordered. The service is good, the staff is nice, attentive, and friendly. They get your order in right away and is very efficient. They have plenty of waitstaff so if you ever need anything, you can always ask someone besides your waitress/waiters. The ambiance, it's nice. It's in the heart of south end so a lot of busy traffic. Dinner time can be very busy. I've never personally eat inside, as I have always eat outside due to the weather. But inside is nice too, they have a decent amount of seating. They have their own parking but you they can give you the code to validate it. It can be tricky to find during busy hours. I would have to say it's one of my favorite place besides ru San and among others. Nothing to complain about here. It's good every single time.

Debbie M.

Yelp
Very busy restaurant with excellent sushi!! Great service lots of downtown "buzz" !! I highly recommend this place for some great sushi!!!! The BEST!!!

Sebastian S.

Yelp
I'll preface this by saying my girlfriend and I were STARVING. Now, I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that this was fine dining or "the best food you'll ever have", but rest assured, you will leave happy and full. The price point is where you should really compare this to any Japanese/Asian-Fusion restaurants in Charlotte (ahem...O-Ku). At Yamazaru, you get what you get and you get it FAST. We ordered a lot and the food had a steady pace. For the price, almost everything was well worth the money. However, I'd skip dessert. That area seemed a little lackluster. The music kind of threw us for a spin as we expected more of a chill vibe to accompany the plentiful booth seating. Rather, you'll find them playing DJ mixes of trendy songs that kind of make you question if you're in a restaurant or a club. Overall, not too loud so you can have normal volume conversations. Conclusion: This place is dope and can come hungry and leave FULL, which is hard to say at a place that sells sushi. What's really cool is that they have a dedicated outdoor window for pick-up orders (DoorDash or personal pickup) which lets you not waste time walking inside the establishment. Come hungry, leave fat and happy, skip dessert, order the onigiri! I'll never stop coming here :)

Yelp
I'm a regular at this place, visiting a couple of times a week. However, after today's experience, I'll be taking a break for a while. I decided to treat my wife for Mother's Day by bringing her here. Typically, there's a wait for seating in the evenings, so I dropped her off to put our names on the list while I parked the car. Surprisingly, they seated her immediately. However, when I returned, my wife was already getting up from the table. We were informed that a larger party had arrived, and since we were at a 4-top table, they needed to relocate us. Unfortunately, there wasn't another table available, so we were asked to wait. During our wait, we noticed a party of three who had just arrived being seated promptly, despite us waiting after being asked to vacate our table. We were told that the limited seating was due to our requirement for a high chair, which left us puzzled, as we dine here regularly without encountering such issues. It felt incredibly unfair to be asked to move after already being seated. Feeling disappointed and frustrated, we made the decision to leave. This unexpected turn of events completely dampened the mood of our evening, turning what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day celebration into a disappointing experience. Thank you, Yamazaru, for unintentionally putting a damper on our evening. Happy Mother's Day nonetheless.

Melissa D.

Yelp
I totally loved this place!! I like the vibe, the customer service was great, and the food is bomb!! I went here for dinner and loved everything that I ordered. The prices are really good for what I got and I think they have one of my favorite ceviche dishes, hands down, and I LOVE ceviche. I actually tried to go back a few days later for lunch, but they were closed :(, lol. They open at 5 so I'll keep that in mind as I will definitely be going back and I highly recommend you give them a try.

Jasmine P.

Yelp
I will always love Yamazaru until I die. They are so consistent, the prices you canNOT complain about. Hata (the owner is very nice). Also Mauricio as well I quite literally eat sushi once a week and I'm either always here or ordering on Über Eats The sushi taste so good and soooo fresh. I've also had their miso soup, ramen, lychee martini, nigiri & sashimi pieces, and green tea ice cream. All great. I've been here so many times I should have a picture on the wall lol

Audrey U.

Yelp
Yamazaru is my go to spot in Charlotte for all occasions. It is a smaller restaurant and sometimes there can be a long wait for a table, but it is so worth it. The bar seating is first come, first served though so I would recommend checking there if the wait time is long. They always play great music too! The sushi and smiling faces is why I keep coming back! For appetizers, I suggest the spicy edamame, shishito peppers, ginger salad or miso soup. My favorite rolls are Gladiator, Krystal Rainbow, West Woods (not fried), Volcano, Spicy Tuna, and The Grinch. Parking is available in the lot and they'll give you a code to put into the app. It can fill up though and I usually Uber/Lyft since they have great a sake selection :)

liv s.

Yelp
more like YUMazaru - came here on Sunday & got to enjoy sitting outside! Started with the Ginger Salad and it was very yummy, but noticed like a soapy/purrell aftertaste (that's my best explanation lol). Also, added the miso soup and it was the most flavorful miso soup I've EVER had. Ended with the chicken fried rice- and the portion was HUGE (love that, because now i have lunch for the next 2 days). There's plenty of parking out front of the restaurant, and they DO validate so be sure to ask!

Melissa Z.

Yelp
I ordered this through Doordash so I'm not sure about the ambience or the service, but we called and asked for white sauce because we couldn't find the option for it on the app and they said it was extra and couldn't but ended up throwing us 2 for free anyways so that was very nice. Although I've never seen a sushi place charge extra for that anyways. We got 4 rolls- the west woods, kiss of fire, the snazzy, and salmon madness roll. I was super satisfied with all the rolls and it was exactly what it was craving. I loved all the different combinations of rolls on the menu which made it super easy to find 4 rolls we wanted to try. I love that the menu (on doordash at least) had pictures of all the rolls too! Super helpful in ordering and resulted in us liking every single roll we got. My personal favorite out the 4 was the snazzy. It just tasted so good and fresh and the sweet soy crunchy onion and garlic on top was surprisingly soooooo good. I would probably come back for that alone. My friend's favorite was the west woods, which was a fried roll with spicy crab and also good. The presentation of everything was great in our to-go box so I expect even better in the restaurant. All 4 cost us $55 but we were both filled and happy.

Samantha K.

Yelp
Love EVERYTHING about this restaurant. Sushi is always fresh. Service is always on point. Cocktails are delicious. For food here is what I recommend: Tuna bomb Tempura appetizer West woods sushi roll Yakatori Karaage Hamachi jalapeño Just to name a few :). There is a server here that is super knowledgeable and I wish I could remember her name but I've always had great service here. This is my go to place for sushi in South End. It won't disappoint!

Rachel P.

Yelp
This spot is in a cute neighborhood with lots of charm. (It was pouring or we would have explored more!) It's a small place and the staff was friendly. The spicy edamame was a good start - and I'll have to try making it at home. The mango roll was tasty and the avocado was too.

LaShawn R.

Yelp
I love this place! The sushi is always so fresh. I went on a random Tuesday evening after work with my con worker to unwind. Parking is a true nightmare however if you are fortunate enough to find parking within the lot, Yamazaru does validate your parking. Good luck with that app take my advice and ask your server for assistance. we ended up having to wait about 25 minutes before being seated. There's no waiting area so we waited in my car. Other people waited on the steps. However, that felt a little weird to me because people were eating at tables outside I felt like they need personal space. When we were finally seated, we ordered drinks. I really enjoyed the Paloma while my coworker had a martini when it came to food we ordered chicken, lettuce, wraps for appetizers and I enjoyed the gladiator in volcano rolls. Everything was delicious.

Nata D.

Yelp
I have been going to Yamazaru for two years now. When I first moved to Charlotte, a friend gave me a list of the best sushi in town & Yamazaru was in the top 5; they were not wrong. Yamazaru has always been a pleasant experience. They are usually pretty packed, & since you cannot make a reservation, a wait is to be expected. But I would say it's TOTALLY worth the wait.. 100%! Their flavors have always been very fresh & incredible. The drinks are strong, the appetizers are awesome, & the sushi is just so great, creating for an overall well rounded experience. The staff have always been kinda & accommodating, continuously going above & beyond, whether it's big or small. You can tell they're a great team. The last time I visited, our food came out quickly (considering it was a friday night) & it was DELICIOUS (as always). Not at all an exaggeration when I say it's my favorite sushi s in Charlotte.

Megan P.

Yelp
This place was nice. It's small but nice. There is street parking around and a very small parking lot. We ended up parking in the garage which was down the block to the restaurant. They have some outdoor seating. The service was nice our server was very nice and friendly. The food was amazing. They give you plenty of food. The edamame was seasoned and it was enough to share with 2 people. The dumplings were great. The calamari was the best. The sauce they put in it was delicious and the calamari was cooked perfectly. I had two sushi rolls which were good. My friend had a rice curry chicken dish and it was good and filling. My other friend had the chicken fried rice bowl which was enough to share between two people. The prices for all of the items were very affordable. This place was great and we will be back.

Amanda S.

Yelp
This is my go to place for sushi in Southend! The sushi is always fresh and the amount of rolls to choose from can be overwhelming if it's your first time, but you will find your favs for sure! The tuna fresh rolls, fried rice, and brussel sprouts are always my go to appetizers. Parking is limited and the space itself is very small. They don't take reservations and the place is busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly! Hata-- the owner is an absolute gem of a person! His smile and warm demeanor make every visit a great one!

Samantha L.

Yelp
My friend and I came in here for dinner on a Thursday night around 7. There were no tables available inside, but we were able to be seated outside on the patio (which had heat lamps). I opted for some salmon nigiri and one of the rolls (that I forget the name of). The sushi all tasted great! For dessert I got an order of the mochi. I was not as impressed by that and would not order it again.

Dan D.

Yelp
The food and sushi is always fresh. People are nice. It's usually quite busy so be prepared for weight to become in there at the last moment. But it's usually worth it.

Tony H.

Yelp
After multiple visits over the years, I can confidently say that Yamazaru remains our top choice for excellent sushi, exceptional service, and reasonable prices. One aspect that always impresses me is the validated parking provided by the restaurant. The instructions for validation are prominently displayed on the wall as you enter, and the staff provides a new promo code each time, ensuring a hassle-free experience. When it comes to the food, Yamazaru consistently delivers on quality. One of our perennial favorites is the chirashi bowl--a beautiful presentation of fresh sashimi meticulously chosen by the talented sushi chefs, served atop perfectly seasoned sushi rice. It's a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The chicken karaage never fails to please either, with its lightly breaded exterior, offering a satisfying crunch while revealing moist and tender chicken inside. The calamari tempura is a go-to option for us, featuring delicate calamari coated in a light tempura batter that adds a delightful crispiness. The spicy edamame is a true treat, providing just the right amount of heat from the spicy powder. The takoyaki, with its soft octopus pieces encased in a delectable batter and complemented by savory sauces, remains a consistent winner. Having explored their special roll menu on numerous occasions, I've come to appreciate the distinct flavors of the Kabuki roll and the Nicolas roll. While both are delicious, the Nicolas roll stands out for its jalapeño-infused spiciness and the delightful crunchiness provided by the Kanikama and lettuce. It never fails to satisfy my craving for a well-balanced and flavorful roll. Throughout the years, Yamazaru has proven to be a reliable destination for top-notch sushi, attentive service, and reasonable prices. The validated parking is a thoughtful touch, making the entire dining experience even more convenient. If you're searching for a restaurant that consistently delivers on quality and taste, Yamazaru should be at the top of your list.

Kayla W.

Yelp
This is got to be the freshest sushi I've had in a longgggg time! I came here randomly because I've been hearing so many things about it and I'm so glad I stopped by when I did because the wait wasn't too bad (30 minutes). I ordered the takoyaki to start and it had a great flavor and texture. Next I tried the Red Monkey, Spicy Tuna, and the Mui Bueno rolls. The spicy tuna wasn't very spicy at all BUT the salmon was fresh and the cucumbers offered a great crunch. The specialty rolls were definitely my favorite and I will surely be back!

Julie P.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Sunday but there was no wait. We got seating outside and it had a nice ambiance to it (good for dates). I got the carpaccio and spicy edamame and then also tried the nigiri specifically the tuna belly and fatty salmon. Both were delicious. My partner eats a lot more sushi than I do & has higher standards and really liked this place. He liked the nigiri, hand roll, maki roll, and sashimi that he got as well. I also tried their miso soup which was a bit salty but still yummy although I wouldn't recommend I guess if you have high hypertension or something. Parking in front was no problem!

Don O.

Yelp
Awesome and unique rolls. Good quality and very tasty. Also they have their own free parking which was a plus because of all the construction and limited parking. Will definitely go back!

Peter L.

Yelp
It went from heads and shoulders above other Japanese restaurants in the area to slightly above average. They might have a different chef in the kitchen yesterday but the chirashi went without the seasoned bean curd skin and the chicken soba tasted off and slightly dry So yeah the serving size got slightly smaller too. The service is a notch below what it used to be - maybe the waitress is new.

Yinyin C.

Yelp
One of my favorite sushi restaurants in Charlotte! Good quality fish and variety for chef's choice options. The service is quick and you can get a seat quickly on a week night. My favorite item on the menu is the Chirashi, which typically is 2 salmons, 2 tunas, 1 tamago (cut in half), 2 mackerels, 2 octopus, 2 squids, 1 surf clams (cut in half), 1 kani (cut in half), 2 snappers, 2 hamachis, 2 fatty tunas, and 1 scallop over a bed of rice. The fish is sliced thinner than the Chef Choice Sashimi options but overall still a great value if you like variety! For the 16 piece Chef Choice Sashima, we got 3 tunas, 3 octopus, 3 salmons, 3 hamachi, 2 scallops, and 2 fatty tunas. All thicker cuts and did not taste fishy at all. We got the Karaage and Tako Yaki for our appetizers. They came out quickly and piping hot!

Nicole O.

Yelp
The best sushi in Charlotte ! Service and food quality is super consistent ! For years the best in the city

Stephanie A.

Yelp
I've been dying for some good Japanese curry and after trying many this was the closest to perfect. Alittle watery but the flavor was there and the Katsu chicken was crispy. Will definitely order it again. Hopefully the curry is a bit thicker next time.

Annabel D.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, music and service. The owner on the floor taking care of all the guests. Everyone super friendly and nice. Food is fresh and delish

Nino R.

Yelp
Service is inconsistent but the menu makes up for it. This is a small place so the wait can creep up during busy times. If you're ok with eating in the sweltering heat, then you prob won't have to wait too long. I haven't had a bad roll here yet. Even the rolls on the specials menu are outstanding. Tuna Bomb is a must try. The crunchy rice is everything. I do stay away from roll that have cream cheese so I can't make any recommendations there. Haven't had many items aside from their rolls and nigiri so no recommendations there either. Chefs choice is always a delight though (think box of chocolates). Parking isn't great on weekends so try to visit when you can find a space on the street. You never know what you're gonna get...

Yelp
We've come here quite a few times and both the food and service have always been excellent. The restaurant has become more popular over the years so we had an early dinner on this Friday night to ensure we'd be seated right away. On this day, I ordered the chirashi bowl based on my wife's strong recommendation from previous visits, and it didn't disappoint! The fish was fresh and quality of rice was absolutely off the charts delicious. What's more amazing was the generous portions of food for the price for every dish we ordered. I'll definitely be back again and this place is five stars all the way.

Yelp
On one of our nights out, we wanted some of our favorite foods from a nearby sushi restaurant. When we looked at the menu, we definitely had to go to Yamazaru. Naj loves the Hamachi Kama and Kimchi, we both love grilled squid and shishito, and cocktails. We were greeted warmly by the host and our waiter was polite. We had a lovely night eating outside in the pleasant brisk North Carolina air under one of the bright red umbrellas.

Yelp
We are in town visiting for the weekend. We did have to wait about 45 min but we just walked over to the bar near by in the mean time. The food here was delicious! I love a good sushi place. I got the Grinch roll and it was perfect. My husband ordered crazy horse. His roll was very fresh tasting. Also delicious. Then we tried some mango sake! 10/10 experience.
