What a wonderful way to spend family time. This public park has something to offer for children of all ages. There is a splash pad, large checkers, ping pong and chess available. There is also agility playgrounds and a place for younger children to play. Food is easily accessible for an all day trip. There is also wade pools with plenty of seating for parents to watch their children. Park is kept up beautifully as well.

Yanaguana Garden is one of San Antonio’s best hidden gems for families! It’s colorful, creative, and packed with fun for kids of all ages. My kids absolutely love the water pump area—it’s the perfect way to cool off on a hot day—and the sand play zone keeps them entertained for hours. The whole space is beautifully designed, with climbing structures, swings, and plenty of open space to run around. It’s clean, safe, and always filled with laughter and new friends. Plus, there are plenty of seating areas and nearby cafes for parents to relax while the kids play. It’s become one of our favorite weekend spots. Highly recommend for a fun-filled family outing!

What an oasis of a park in San Antonio! Youd never guess you were in the heart of the city. My 18 month old son had a great time playing in the splash pad area as well as the playground. He made two new friends both named Penelope while splashing! The coffee shop right there is delicious as well! Rose white mocha iced latte was their recommendation and it was impeccable! The bathrooms were super clean as well and had a changing table in both women's and men's! Lots of park maintenance workers doting diligently on the park while we were there as well. Its definitely a city gem!

Google
Beautiful place, especially at night when lit up. Playground for kids and giant size activities such as chess/checkers for all ages. The little ice cream/snack bar has great options to cool you down in this Texas heat

Google
My family had so much fun. The splash pad was great to cool off.

Google
Lots of options as far as a playground - great for kids of all ages. My kids ages 9, 7, and 4 all enjoyed themselves! These were lots of other kids do play with too. And great seating for parents as well which sometimes lacks at parks. Splash pad but we didn’t attend as it was a tad cold. Shade structures are nice and great mature Trees.

Yelp
Beautifully maintained clean park for the entire family, friends catching up, or just chilling out solo. There's separate picnic tables by the Kimpton hotel side that's great for a quick meal too. Lots of splash pads and shaded areas with chairs for the parents to watch from a distance. Bathrooms aren't super clean but I think there's other spots less frequented where babies/toddlers can go for a quick change of clothes. Parking is going to be a challenge on the weekends but paid parking isn't too far away.

Yelp
Super cute, large play area for kids and park at the edge of downtown! Mostly in shade with a lot of seating, which is great also. climbing gyms, a huge slide and swing sets. We parked on the street at Alamo/Cezar Chavez but there were easy paid parking lots there also. Not sure if there was also a parking lot connected to the complex. Not crowded on a Friday afternoon. In the Hemisfair complex next to Dough Pizzeria Napoletana.

Yelp
Took my 5 year old daughter here and she absolutely loved it. Great climbing structures, swings, splash pads, comfy seats for parents, and just a wonderful relaxed vibe to the whole place. There were plenty of workers there keeping the place clean and it felt extremely safe.

Yelp
This is one of the most unique recreational areas i've visited in Downtown San Antonio. It's right next to a cozy coffee shop, so you can grab yourself something warm to sip on while the kids climb one of three netted structures. There also games for table tennis and 4 large check boards. In the summer, the water park is active. this area is kept very clean, with lots of public seating and tables. I love brining my family here.
google avatar

Yelp
We've been to this public park a few times since last year and every time we go to San Antonio, we stop by at least once. It's downtown and they do have a parking garage and street parking, but you're downtown. Expect to pay. I haven't found any free parking there so far. The park is next to a bunch of eateries like our favorite pizza place in SA and a paleta place. It's usually bustling with families and kids. Plenty of seating for adults and things for kids to occupy them. There's a sand pit and splash pad, netted structures for climbing, swings, and outdoor activities like table tennis. There was also live music two of the times we were there. Our last visit a few months ago featured construction in the streets around the block, so I'm looking forward to when that's completed. Still an awesome park, though!

Yelp
Beautiful garden that is very family friendly! Lots of spaces for kids like climbing, as well as tables and benches! The greenery is very peaceful too! The walking trails are nice, and the area is pretty well lit during the evenings

Yelp
Yanaguana Garden is a hidden gem in San Antonio! Beautiful, modern, and perfect for a family outing.

Yelp
This is a must see park. It has everything that for both kids and adults. Shaded swings of various types, a splash pad, tons to climb, ropes, nets, things that spin, area to run, giant checkers/chess etc. The grounds are beautiful. It is filled with fantastic sculptures, butterfly benches, mirrors above play structures. My personal favorite is the huge section of concrete yard games such as foosball, badminton and cornhole. It is also also convenient that they have both bathrooms and changing rooms.
google avatar

Abigail W.

Yelp
This park was listed on a free stuff to do in San Antonio, for both adults & kids. Seemed like the perfect fit, easy to get to and a parking lot right near by. There's a little bit of everything from a chess & checkers tables, cornhole, ping pong, foosball. There's a sculpture for the kids to climb on, a water splash area with lounge chairs next to it and the chairs are shaded. Looks like they sometimes have a vendor there selling a tasty treat. Definitely get here and check out the fun!

Yelp
We loved this park. We came here for our two year old after visiting the tower of the americas. We loved it so much space and creative and unique park layout for your child to play with/in. There is a splash pad, which my son loves and a local paleteria near by to cool off. Highly recommend this park. Oh and also lots of shaded spaces.
google avatar

Greg F.

Yelp
It was a decent park nothing special. I was looking for something to keep my daughter occupied for a little bit to break up visiting the alamo and riverwalk. There are a few climbing structures, a splash pad, and ping pong. It's close walking distance from riverwalk and there are plenty of parking options near by.
google avatar

Trina W.

Yelp
I like that there's close parking options that aren't too expensive. There's a playground that's spaced out. My biggest disappointment is the toddler area is so small and limited in what they have. The only other thing my two year old could do here was the swings, which are also two that connect so you either have to be open to other people using it at the same time or take quick turns. We shared ours with another toddler so they didn't have to wait. But lots of room to run around. Yo me the best aspect is being centrally located between an ice cream shop, pizza place, coffee house and a tap house. What kids (or adults for that matter) don't like pizza and ice cream? And what adults don't like either coffee or beer? So it's a win-win. It was cold when we came so it wasn't running but there is a splash pad I could see us frequenting in the summer time.
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
So much fun for the kids. And it's a big space to check out other sections of the park.
google avatar

Angel S.

Yelp
Our absolute favorite place to be with the kids. From the splash park, to the unique playground, sandpit, downtown location and proximity to amazing restaurants and entertainment, this is THE best park in the city. So much space to hang and play it's never a bad idea to head down to Yanaguana Garden.
google avatar

Misty S.

Yelp
One of the coolest playground/park I've visited! There are lots of climbing activities in the playground area. They have a couple of cement foos ball tables and ping pong tables! There are also 2 sets of bean bag games for your enjoyment. Hand sanitizers are available around the park. This park is walking distance to/from Tower of Americas. .|\---/| | o_o | .\_^_/..2021

Yelp
Conveniently located less than half a mile from the Alamo, the Riverwalk, the mall and the historic downtown area, Yanaguana Garden is in a perfect location. Kids from 6 months to 10 years old will love this place. The splash pad is great for really hot days. They have water fountains next to the bathrooms and plenty of shade and chairs for lounging. And the chairs are located next to the play areas in different spots. They have chess tables, ping pong tables and other stuff too. Highly recommended if you have little ones who need to get their energy out.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice park near the Hemisfair Tower and a great coffee shop. Lots of playground equipment and benches to sit on, there's even a free charging station.

Yelp
Had so much fun at the new park, well it's new to me have not been there in forever, so many cool things for the family!! Who doesn't love a nice day in the park, definitely a must go to park be fun and be a kid again
google avatar

Allyson W.

Yelp
We came here as our first stop arriving from Houston. It is so clean and there is plenty of shade. The kids loved splashing around in the splash pad and then took a break and went to play on the playground. They have changing rooms right there at the splash pad that are outside with a bench and door to close. We found lounge chairs under an umbrella to sit and watch them play. They have a few food options but I would recommend bringing some sandwiches and a small cooler. They have a small parking lot but it was full so we parked across the street and it only cost $2.50.
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
I've been here plenty of times but now that I've brought my daughter here it makes a huge difference. There are plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy and even for the adults! If you're looking for a nice place to take the kids this might be one of the best places here in San Antonio, that's FREE!

Yelp
Fun day for the whole family! Pack a picnic or enjoy the local eats. From splashpads to a game of chess under beautiful Texas oaks, giant swings, nets for climbing, and even a large sand area with water trough. The day will fulfill anyone's need for play, adventure, and creativity. So get out and have some fun!!!
google avatar

Helene S.

Yelp
Nice park with a cute playground in the Hemisfair. The vivid mosaics on the benches and sculptures remind me of Antoni Gaudí's Parc Güell in Barcelona, Spain.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I were wandering around downtown San Antonio this past weekend and happened upon Yanaguana Garden! We were so surprised by this wonderful little park! What doesn't it have? Playgrounds, sand box, splash pad, places to sit and relax, giant chess and checkers, and more! On such a hot day, it was great to buy a paleta from Paleteria (housed in a building at the Garden) and get my feet wet at the splash pad! Between that and enjoying a swing set for a few minutes, it was a lovely place to spend some time! If you have kids, I highly suggest checking out this park! What a gem!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
In a city of flying birds, rest easy that you children and friends will have a great time at the park and probably not get run down (except for this one oblivious woman - watch out!). If you plan to play in the sand or water, there are places to change clothes and diapers! There are tons of jungle gyms, checkers/chess pads, swings, and other little play areas. The park is also super clean. Most parents are considerate of others, and most importantly, the kids have a great time! It's a great place to hang out at after a show at the Magic Theater or a shopping trip at Rivercenter. The pizzeria, coffee shop, and palatera shops are pretty tasty too!
google avatar

Gabriela L.

Yelp
This is such a cool spot! It's a playground for kids and adults alike. I wanted to check out this spot because it was one of the recommended spot for San Antonio and apparently you can walk around and drink a Margarita? I regret not doing that! So if you happen to visit San Antonio, please have that experience for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Yanaguana Gardens is a "Must See" in San Antonio. It was designed by local artists and has tons to do for all ages. I love the Blue Panther and the Crane Bench done by Oscar Alvarado. These are both great photo opps! There is a playground with several different types of swings, slides, and climbing areas. The ground under the playset is so squishy and fun to bounce on. There is a spray park that is on at certain times of the year and there are nice places to sit and put your feet in if you don't want to run around getting wet. There are amazing views of the Tower of the Americas and other San Antonio landmarks. The park is dog friendly and all the water fountains drain into a dog bowl at the bottom so your puppy can drink too. When they are open, there are vendors that sell adult beverages as well as homemade paletas, yummy! They often show movies at the park and you can bring a chair or sit in the grass and enjoy! They also have ping pong, lawn chess, and lawn checkers. There is so much to do!

Yelp
Perfect FREE Saturday afternoon with the family! We spent 2 hours there and could've spent more had we opted to eat at one of the establishments on site. Atmosphere: laid back vibe, beautiful landscaping/hardscapes, big beautiful trees and other flora. Seating: plenty of benches, Adirondack chairs, hardscapes. We were there from 3:30 - 5:30pm on a lovely Saturday and were able to snag 3 chairs in the shade. To do: sand pit, enclosed garden & chicken coup, water sprinklers and small waterfall for kids to splash in, swings, huge play structure, other playground equipment, picnic areas, scooters, ping pong, butterfly garden Eats: surrounding the park area is a pizza spot (Dough), a hip burger spot (Consafos), coffee spot (Commonwealth), and a unique ice cream spot (can't remember name). They also had a couple food trucks there - the frozen lemonade one was a hit! Other happenings/things to note: we were pleasantly serenaded by a quartet playing Frank Sinatra tunes (fabulous!) and another indie type artist on the other end of the park. They also host movie nights and other happenings throughout the year. Very convenient walk to Tower of Americas. Dog friendly on leash. They have clean restrooms as well as changing booths on site. Parking: plenty of nearby public parking lots (we paid $3 for 3 hours) and some street parking available Overall: perfect spot for adults to relax in the shade while the kiddos play and since it's free, we plan on being regulars!

Yelp
Soooo beautiful! I love walking there in the evenings, there is a violinist there some nights! And I just makes you feel at home with all the activities going on around the park and garden!
google avatar

Erica G.

Yelp
I love this cool little park. It is a perfect place to hang out with family, friends and if you have children. There is a lovely playground there. There is also a giant checkers ground board, corn hole and foosball! The lighting and walk-ways are also a romantic spot if you are with a significant other.
google avatar

Debra Ann E.

Yelp
This park is amazing. Not your typical park that you see everyday. It's very modern with lots of structures to climb. They have a double swing for a baby and older child/adult which is so helpful so you don't have to swing two children at once There's a ping pong table nearby as well. Lots of things to do for hours. I highly recommend to go early so you can beat the crowd.
google avatar

Marisa P.

Yelp
Such a great free activity for the kids and a way to support the city's downtown revitalization. The old wooden playground was taken out and a modern playscape comprised of climbing rope contraptions now takes its place. This playscape is a bit more difficult for toddlers. There is an area with tables that has chess and checkers. Then a great splashpad with a view of the tower is perfect for kids of all ages. My recommendation would be to bring a swimsuit or change of clothes because most kids immediately run into the water. An amazing paleta place is in the complex and adds to the whole experience. If you have time there is also a free art gallery that has rotating exhibits within walking along the trail.
google avatar

Stacy E.

Yelp
Romantic. Family oriented. In front of riverwalk what else could you ask for. Free exercise always happening and available to public. Whether you watch the sunset or go to put your feet under the water spouts it's a relaxing place to chill
google avatar

Ron M.

Yelp
I had a Yelp event down at Yanaguana Gardens and this was my first time to really experience this area. What a great place for families, and especially the kids. Downtown isn't exactly a place where kids/local kids can find a fun, open area to run around, climb, and just have kid fun. But there is also water fun, which is great for these hot summer days. Just not too long though. There's the parent in me coming out. Of course since I didn't take advantage of the play area, I can't rate it on personal experience. Yeah, I would have strained something. But I can certainly rate on what I saw. And saying that, I give two thumbs up and a happy face. Heck, I'll also give a gold star. Good job SA!
google avatar

Kay J.

Yelp
Love what they've done with this place!!! Incredible for the entire family :o) Ping-Pong, Life Size Connect Four, Huge Chess/Checkers, fun water playscape and an amazing sand play area - just a glimpse of what you'll find at Yanaguana Gardens! They also have tons of climbing features and a grassy area that hosts movie nights on a "big screen". Last weekend, they played "School of Rock" and sold food and drinks. It was a blast! SPOTLESS bathrooms as well (and outdoor changing rooms for the water area). 5 stars for sure but hoping the parking improves. We parked at at The Tower of Americas. It used to go right through to the park - hoping after full renovation, the walking path goes through once again. It was a longgg hike.
google avatar

Emily F.

Yelp
Beautiful park!! With something for all ages. Life size connect 4, checkers and chess, rope climbing, splash pad, huge sand pit and more! My kids had a blast. I love that it's so close to tower of the Americas that we could spend a few hours between the 2. Very clean and plenty of shade.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is so nice for a family day out. I have a teen and a toddler and this place took care of both needs of having a great time. Very clean, open space for running around and love the Activities that this park provide with no charge.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Great playground for the kiddos to run around, cafes for parents to grab a coffee, pretty decent public bathrooms. Def check it out for a nice family afternoon outdoors!
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
Súper fun for toddler. Had a blast at the splash pad. They're clean, private areas for diaper changing. Playground, chess, checkers, ping pong. Restaurants on premise. Clean and shaded. Only 4 stars because of the parking. Pay to park.
google avatar

Stephen M.

Yelp
Man. What an amazing park!!! Soooo fun! Love how innovative and artistically creative the space is. Love the green. The playground. The general vibe of the park. The proximity to Tower of the Americas. The fountains. The murals. The architecture. Such a cool place to take the kids to hang out, especially on Friday evenings. Just up the walkway at Hemisfair there was a live band playing and a car show and inflatables. Soooo much fun.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
What a lovely gem in the city! Sandbox area in the shade, water fountains with plenty of areas for the grownups to sit and get their feet wet, structures to climb on and play in, and now I hear there's going to be beer and ice cream? I'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Crystl G.

Yelp
Always fun here, from splash pad to acrobatic playgrounds. You'll find something that will lure your kids eye. It's a work of art.
google avatar

Curt C.

Yelp
Beautiful gardens right by Hemisfair Park! These wonderful gardens are absolutely stunning! There's a huge display of public art here, and many great areas to play in! There's a public fountain that you can climb around in and get wet. You're not supposed to play in the other fountains around Hemisfair, but these are welcoming and available to splash in. There's lots of things to play with, and the floors here are squishy, so if you fall off the equipment head first, you shouldn't crack your head open. There are public restrooms here, that are clean and safe. There are also things that you can check out and use, like ping pong paddles for the tables, or giant chess sets. It's a great place downtown to relax in the shade, read a book, or get active. I'm very thankful that the city has done such a great job with this park, and encourage you to visit!
google avatar

Yelp
I don't even have small children, but areas like THIS are what make me happy to call San Antonio home. Yanaguana Gardens is a family-friendly gem in the heart of downtown... *beautiful* mosaic benches and climbable statues, splash pad, ginormous concrete ping pong tables, expansive jungle gym-like climbing structure, life-size chess and checkers, actual real restrooms, plenty of shade. And soon. .. BEER! The gorgeous historic buildings on the Hemisfair grounds are being revitalized and given a new lease on life. One of the first tenants : OK Brewing & Eishaus. Also on the horizon, craft paletas and a restaurant, amongst other establishments. But. .. BEER! Playground for the whole family. Check. Mate. Yanaguana is a complete 180 from the way the other, Tower of the Americas, half of Hemisfair currently looks and smells (gag!)...tax dollars well spent! Kudos, San Antonio!
google avatar

Arturo Z.

Yelp
This area has undergone a complete transformation! The result is a park that is unique, user-friendly, and accessible. The play structures are not your typical swings and slides. Rather they are meant to engage people of all ages! At Yanaguana Gardens, you'll find climbing structures, mosaic structures, water fixtures, and even a sandbox. They even have ping pong tables. Soft rubber flooring is found under the play structures to foster a safer play environment. All these structures coexist with shaded areas, landscaped gardens, and historical structures. Several art structures also tell the story behind the name of the park. The park also features new restroom facilities and a picnic area. This is only the first phase of the larger improvement project at Hemisfair. Yanaguana Gardens is definitely a great place to play, relax, or walk through. It also looks like it is well lit at night. It's a definite upgrade from the park it once was!
google avatar

Tonya M.

Yelp
This park is so different, very little grass, compared to some parks, but you don't notice because of the splash pad, climbing structures, sand play area, oversized checkers/chess etc. It is so neat now that it has opened up farther to sculptures, statues and water features leading to tower of the america's.
google avatar

Yelp
Great new space at hemisphere park. CORNER OF CESAR CHAVEZ & S ALAMO. Great for kids!!
google avatar

Dominik D.

Yelp
I did not think I could ever write these words, but if you find yourself in need of some Barcelona, this playground is decorated in a Guadiesque fashion. The greenery is charming and adds a twist of idealistic nature to the park.
google avatar

Rebecca E.

Yelp
Great free event for the kids to enjoy on the hot summer day when the sprinklers are on! I really do wish there was more shade though because it does get very hot. So bring your own chair and umbrella if you have it.

Jane L.

Yelp
Beautiful free park and playground with plenty of food and drink options for the adults
