Where to Find the Best Egg Rolls in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Regulars to this Milton restaurant swear the traditional handmade egg rolls here (and the crab rangoon) are the best in metro Atlanta. In other words, order these egg rolls before partaking in a meal of sizzling rice soup, Singapore noodles, and Hunan chicken. Temporarily closed." - Beth McKibben

Review: Yan's Cafe - A Solid, Yet Unrefined, Asian Dining Experience In our ongoing quest for exceptional Asian cuisine, my family and I recently opted to try Yan's Cafe, a newcomer to the local dining scene. With a craving for noodles, we placed a takeout order, selecting the Basil Fried Rice and Spicy Thai Noodles. Upon tasting, we found both dishes to be above average, yet falling short of true excellence. The Basil Fried Rice, while cooked to perfection, lacked a depth of flavor, coming across as somewhat bland. Conversely, the Spicy Thai Noodles, although expertly prepared, failed to deliver the anticipated level of heat. Despite these minor missteps, we were pleased with the overall quality of the ingredients, generous portion sizes, and reasonable pricing. The takeout experience was seamless, with our order ready for pickup at the designated time. In conclusion, while Yan's Cafe demonstrates promise, it falls shy of delivering truly memorable Asian cuisine. With refinement and attention to flavor profiles, this establishment has the potential to become a standout in the local dining scene. We would be willing to provide a second chance, hoping that the kitchen will take our feedback to heart and elevate their dishes to the next level. *Recommendation:* For those seeking a reliable, if unremarkable, Asian dining experience, Yan's Cafe is a viable option. However, for those craving bold flavors and exceptional cuisine, it may be worth exploring alternative establishments.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been to a lot of Asian restaurants, but Yan's Asian Cuisine truly stands out! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served hot. You can tell they put care into every dish, whether it's the crispy orange chicken, savory lo mein, or their perfectly seasoned fried rice, everything hits the spot. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the service is fast, even during busy times. The restaurant is clean, welcoming, and perfect for both takeout and dining in. Yan’s has definitely become my go-to spot when I’m craving quality Asian food. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great taste and great service!

Google
Very good food. They’re hot and sour soup is great! We tried the Kung Pow Chicken and it was delicious. We were also very quickly attended and they had fast service.

Google
This Chinese restaurant stands out in the area for its consistently delicious food and exceptional service. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is always clean. We've been coming here for years, and the quality, taste, and portion sizes have always impressed us. We're making it one of our go-to spots for Chinese cuisine. As a take-out place, you can pick up your order or dine in at one of their tables - just keep in mind it's self-service.

Google
Ordered some takeout for lunch from here today :) They've got a wide selections of dishes, so we ordered 2 lunch specials and 2 appetizers, and we loved them all! Will definitely be going back again :)

Google
Very authentic Chinese food, inside is clean, and service was great. I loved the honey walnut shrimp so much.

Google
I was so impressed by this place! As soon as I opened my container I knew it was going to be good. The shrimp king pao was delicious! Spicy and the shrimp were large-not greasy like many Chinese spots. I prefer peanuts in my Kung pao but it was still very good. Large lunch portion. The egg drop soup very well seasoned. Good and fresh quality food. I’m so glad I found this spot and look forward to trying more entrees. Update: I’ve since tried 3 other entrees: sweet and sour chicken, chicken pan fried noodles, and shrimp and vegetables. Each dish was delicious and flavorful! Officially my favorite Chinese spot in GA.

Google
The Kung pao was delicious!! The perfect amount of spicy. Definitely has a kick to it. Highly recommend. The crab rangoons were a bit too sweet and the wontons were under-fried. Based on this order, I do not recommend them.

Pam P.

Yelp
New to area and looking for a go to Chinese carry out. Very clean, nice menu and excellent food. Egg rolls were crisp not greasy. Chicken w/broc tender and tasty, beef with vegetable was seasoned nice not over garlic or sweet tasting. We will be back.

Yelp
I opted to stop here as I wanted some Chinese food. I walked in and a person was sitting by the register but would not talk. I waited a couple of minutes and someone came out to take my order. Short wait and I was on my way. The food was good but probably would have been better had I not waited 10-15 minutes to eat it in my office. I will go back. The place was empty and could have used a little cleaning but nothing to be alarmed about.

Yelp
Me and my family of 4 have lived here for six months and we've eaten at this restaurant a few times a month for the past five months. It's usually a hit, but today in particular was a miss as I'm making me and the kids plate after their dad dropped the food off on the way to work we come across 2 maggots in our lo mein. Now their dad is at work saying he hate he didn't look at his food before eating it.

Yelp
I ordered from here twice and both time's our chicken dishes was old wet and soggy. I will not be eating here again

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants. I order from here all the time. The food is always amazing, and they package everything so well so that nothing spills when you transport it home. Food is consistent - it always tastes exactly the same, and it's delicious. I love the Thai Basil with Chicken, but the teriyaki chicken, and the pad Thai with chicken are so good as well.
google avatar

Bailey H.

Yelp
This is a great everyday place for take out Chinese food. They have the best fried wonton and Happy Family. Always great service too.
google avatar

Doug B.

Yelp
I haven't been to Yan's in a while so I thought I would stop in since I was in the area. I called ahead and ordered Pork Egg Foo Yong, Lo-Mein noodles and some Crab Rangoon. My order was ready in about 20 minutes. The food quantities were generous - three (3) large Pork Egg Foo Yong patties (most places only serve two) with brown gravy and a really large helping of lo-mein with thick noodles. The six crab rangoon were crispy outside with a warm cream cheese filling along with a sweet duck sauce for dipping them. Good food and good service.

Yelp
This is the best rice in the city and beyond. It being ducked off in Alpharetta shouldn't matter. If you appreciate Chinese food this is where you will go.

Yelp
We finally tried Yan's cafe for takeout and I wish we would've tried it sooner! The dining room is closed but it was a great takeout dinner with great prices. We ordered online and got the sesame chicken combo dinner (includes egg roll, fried rice and soup) for $12.75, house lo mein for $12.75 and the triple teriyaki entree for $15.95. We received a free 5 piece dumpling with our order and were given 7 dumplings instead. The quality of all the food was great, and the portions were large. We will definitely be back for takeout!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent but only takeout. Owners are nice. Sesame chicken a bit too soggy but soup is great
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Great Chinese takeout! Good menu selection and reasonable prices. It's the only one I will go to now.

Ryan O.

Yelp
Ordered 3 entrees soups and egg roles. None of it was good except for a single egg drop soup. Singapore rice noodles was not even remotely the right color much less favor. Sesame chicken was doughy and not at all crispy. Interaction with the staff was great however.
google avatar

Yelp
Yan's Cafe is just the perfect spot for American Chinese food. Major cheat meal! CHEAPER than Panda Express, the food tastes so much better here! Not only does your meal come with rice and egg roll, it also comes with all you can drink soup, from the favorites of egg drop and hot and spicy. Food comes out super fast and hot so you know it's freshly made. Minor drawback here is that there's usually only one host/server that it can take some time to get your order in, but he does his best that he can. So far, had sweet and sour and general chicken but all their dishes look delicious.

Shelby S.

Yelp
Our food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. They are also very friendly and helpful. Very yummy - you should definitely go!
google avatar

Meredith A.

Yelp
Very good and very friendly. They are always busy and seem to be stretched thin a lot so check your order for accuracy before you head home to dig in!
google avatar

Nicola Y.

Yelp
strongly recommend this restaurant. They provide perfect services. I love the food in this restaurant very authentic and delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this Restaurant! My granddaughter and I go once a month for a treat! Great service and I love how they remember my granddaughters name. Clean and neat, great table service.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! This is the best Chinese take out I have had in years! We ordered from Yan's last night and were really impressed by the quality of the food. We had the Crab Rangoon, Mongolian Beef, Hunan Chicken, and Chinese doughnuts. The flavors were really spot-on and delicious and everything was fresh. You could tell the fried items (Rangoon, eggs rolls, and doughnuts) were made in-house and not frozen ones dumped into a fryer. I don't even normally eat my egg rolls and I devoured this one. A+ Americanized Chinese takeout. Delicious at a great value. Will be a return customer!
google avatar

Yelp
Carry out only? Come on, time to open up dining room, or just close the doors. It's ridiculous that I'm April of 2022 you are still acting like you might die if someone comes within 20' of you.
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
We found this restaurant on Yelp as it had great reviews! They were correct! Even in COVID, it was very easy to pickup our order. We ordered our meal online and paid at the restaurant when picking up. Their menu is very extensive. They have combination meals for both lunch and dinner. We ordered the Mongolian Beef combination dinner including the entree, fried rice and egg roll. Also ordered an entree size of Chicken Lo Mein. Both dishes were delicious and plentiful in size. As an appetizer, we tried the spring rolls which were bigger than expected and very tasty. I was very impressed with this restaurant and look forward to going back in the future.
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
We order take out from here at about 2-3 times a month for my 93 year old Aunt. She loves it. The food has consistently been fresh and tasty. The owner and workers are always friendly. I love their egg rolls. Similar to New York style which you can't always find.
google avatar

Marcus O.

Yelp
I'm a fan. It's good, plentiful, and pretty close. I dropped in and had some lunch today. The whole thing cost me $7.00 including tax. There are some more expensive items than the tofu dish I got, but they won't break the bank. For your $6-8 you get a cup of soup, an egg roll, and whatever American-Chinese meal you want with a side of rice (fried if you prefer). Also included in that price is friendly, attentive service. I guess I should mention I had the homestyle tofu made spicy. It was pretty durn good. I'm not gonna lie though, I thought about the General Tsao's chicken... :-P
google avatar

Penny S.

Yelp
They are only having takeout service at this time, but that's exactly what we're looking for. So we ordered the spring rolls which were very good and the hot and sour soup was really good and nice and hot temp wise. We got the general chows chicken, which is very good and we also got the Kung pow beef, which was very savory... I know you're definitely order again!

James H.

Yelp
Thought I wou try a different Chinese restaurant and was disappointed. They cater to take out and have no in house dining. you order at the counter and they bring you out y to go order that you can eat at one of their tables. The food was good but close inspection makes me wonder about how clean the kitchen is. only have bottled drinks. all in all I don't think I will be back.

Brian C.

Yelp
Food had significantly changed since last time we ordered about 4 months ago. So full of sugar and way too much corn starch. Not good in any form or fashion. The people who cook there should be at Hai on Windward and take a lesson or two. Fire the chef and bring the old one back

Yelp
This is our fav Chinese place!!! We haven't lived in the area for about 4.5yrs and still make the drive here for it! They are take out only now but we never did dine in anyway, so we don't care about that. Their prices are fair and it's a good value for the amount of food you get. Their food is delicious and their service is always fast! All of the staff is really friendly too. I miss having them open more would be my only complaint... they are closed Sundays and they close at 8 on the days they are open. We always seem to be available to go there on Sundays or too close to closing time! We would eat there more often if they were open all weekend.

Yelp
I drive around here on a regular basis and had never notice it. It is located in a small strip mall, next to Cake World. We went stopped in a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was empty and parking was ample. It smelled wonderful inside and we go to choose where we wanted to sit. The one waiter/host/bus person was quick to greet us and offer the menus. We asked for water and were given Kirkland water bottles (that was a bit odd) but the waiter told us they were out of ice. I appreciated the cold bottled water at no charge, thank you. The restaurant was clean, the tables and the floors were very pretty decorated and the menu was simple. We ordered pork fried rice, chicken lo mein and SA chicken. It took a little bit for the food to arrive, but once at the table there was plenty for our family of four. The kiddos are picky eaters but they enjoyed all of the dishes and clean their plates. The SS chicken was crispy and the sauce was sweet with a little tang. The Lo Mein was delicious, light sauce and the chicken was moist and plenty. The fried rice was the least of our favorite as the onions were a little on the big side and not completely cooked, the pork was a bit dry as well. But even with that it was better than most of the other Chinese restaurants we have been to. We will definitely visit again,.

Yelp
The customer service in this place is awful! I ordered twice from this place and they cancelled my order! I'm officially looking for a new go to Asian restaurant. Any recommendations?
google avatar

Avi R.

Yelp
This would be my go to chinese place! This is a new chinese restaurant that has opened recently, which is located opp to Walmart. The place is super clean, cafe style restaurant that has booth and tables. Very well maintained. A lot of options in the menu including few thai choices (check out my menu pictures). Super friendly service. The food was amazing. The meat was so fresh and tender. On point! Cant wait to dine in! Would def recommend this place! Check them out if you live around the milton area or visiting.

Yelp
If you see Madelyn A give a place a five star rating, you know it's gotta be great! I've had this place on my list since seeing her review over a year ago but I never made it there until tonight. I took the family and we all loved it. Dinner combinations are a great value. I had a Thai Basil Chicken dish that came with soup, fried rice and an egg roll and it was less that $11. I'm a huge fan of basil and this dish was perfect for a basil lover. The soup was good, the egg roll was very good and the entree was great. I asked for it to be extra spicy but I didn't even taste a hint of spice unfortunately. My wife and kids were very happy with their choices and the whole experience. Service was great!

Yelp
On a visit to Atlanta, We looked up Chinese food and not knowing anything about it, except that it had a 4 out of 5 stars, we just decided to choose Yan's cafe. What a diamond of a find!!!!! The prices are ridiculously reasonable! The cafe was small but very, very nice. Very clean! And the food is absolutely fantastic!!! Instead of a cup of egg drop soup, my mother ordered a bowl!! Oh my goodness, it probably feeds 4 people! My husband got the Kung Pao chicken and I got the teriyaki vegetables. Um um! I was so full but I couldn't stop eating!!Jesse, the server, was awesome! I'm trying to think of something that I was disappointed in to say- but I can't think of anything! And while we sat there, they did some carry out business!!!! Wow! So, all I can say is - we'll be back!!

Yelp
This was my go to spot for the past year. Just placed a $60 UberEats order and when it arrived we began to chow down. No lie, my fried wings were rotten. The moment I hit into it I knew something wasn't right. Then when I smelled the wing it reeked of a fishy rancid smell. Guess I'm on the hunt for a new place **update** If I could rate zero I would. One thing I could say is I NEVER had bad customer service there until now. You will see the new rush of complaints of the rude Angela. Well, I've met her now. This employee basically calls me a liar and left the sarcastic "hun" instead of reaching out to rectify my complaint. ABSOLUTE joke. Goes to support all the new complaint of crappy customer service. Please review the attached employee comment and my proof of purchase from their disgusting restaurant. AVOID AT ALL COST. At this point I'll rejoice when they either fire Angela or go out of business. **update** Went to the restaurant in person to ensure the owner is aware of the extreme disrespect that is being dished out by Angela. Angela initially told me no owner was in and that it was only a chef that did not speak English. Then threatened to call the police if I did not leave. Though tough I remained respectful and told her that I will await a manager or owner and that calling the police is fine as I did nothing wrong. She hid in the back for 30 min. Finally the main person emerged (she's always been a true doll with great customer service). I expressed to her what has been taken place and showed her the numerous reviews complaining of Angela. Until Angela is gone I will not patronize this establishment.

Yelp
Its good and I'm glad, I just moved to Alpharetta, Ill admit Im not too happy about it. But at least I found decent Chinese food. So Far I have only come for lunch, but things look promising here. The service is good, the food is good, and the place is clean. The space is kinda small so I dunno if they ever get really busy it could be hard to get food.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Jessie an Jerry are fantastic After reading all comments about Angela their very rude employee sounds like yes she's a family friend, but they would do themselves a favor an fire her. Sometimes you have to do what's best for your family business. UPDATE***** I'm sorry I have to change my review at this point. We have been eating here for about a year An love Jerry an Jessie they are amazing!!!!! BUT THE NEW GIRL ANGELA THEY HIRED IS AWFUL.... her personally towards customers isn't great. I hate to say this but at this point I won't be returning.... love this place. Have been coming here about 9 months now. Everything is cooked fresh by the chef who is the owner. His son an daughter run the rest of the restaurant. They are so beyond sweet and friendly. If your looking for amazing food this is it!!! Egg drop soup is the bomb, sesame chicken, cashew chicken (a few of our favs)
google avatar

Donell F.

Yelp
We wanted general tsos shrimp... Didnt know we were getting general tsos breading and overly cooked small shrimp in a heavy breading to appear large because PLEASE YANS CAFE ! The heavy breading is not healthy or FUN to eat! Its bad... How can you allow us to spend $20 on this trash and expect a happy/satisfied customer. Spring rolls just dripping with oil. Totally unsatisfactory! Look at the photo I didn't need or want that breading in my stomach! I ordered shrimp! I wanted nicely prepared cooked and properly cooked shrimp DISSAPOINTED

Yelp
Overall...very satisfying!! Decided to try somewhere new for lunch and was not disappointed! It's a small restaurant that I feel most will never give a second glance, but honestly should! With chic inside furbishing, I was actually impressed with how clean and nice the inside looked. Service: came in around noon so we were given the lunch menu by the only server there. Polite and friendly, she did an awesome job even though it was just her running around cleaning the tables and getting the order. The restaurant wasn't too busy and she gave us plenty of time to look over the menu and decide. She was very patient as we asked a few questions regarding the menu. Food: I decided to get the kung Pao 3 (shrimp, chicken, beef) for $7.25 came included with soup, your choice of fried rice or steamed rice, and a large egg roll. Thor choice of soup are your standard egg drop, hot and sour, and wonton. I decided to get the wonton and was pleasantly surprised to how good the soup was. I would honestly consider coming back just for the soup. My actual meal was delicious! Not too spicy but with enough kick for me to be satisfied 4/5- I would definitely come back. Even though the lunch pricing is so cheap the quality and care they put in their food is impressive!

Yelp
It may be small but it is really good. They have stopped all indoor eating but it is still a friendly clean service. I have called in orders here several times found them to be prompt and friendly. The online ordering works well too. Enjoy!

Teliah L.

Yelp
Well first I tried calling to place a order on my lunch break but no one was answering. I thought they were closed but when I passed by, the open sign was on. I went in to place an order and no one was standing at the register. They literally have a bell you can ring to get their attention, rung it 4 times but I stood there for 10 mins before someone came from out back. That was terrible service but the food was actually decent though.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Not sure how one can mess up general tso but they did. The chicken tasted like old grease and had no sauce. The lo mein was sub par. Chinese food usually had a low bar but they set it even lower. Won't eat here again. Don't even get me started on how difficult it was to place a order over the phone.
google avatar

Fallon L.

Yelp
Nice spot, appreciate that they deliver. This place actually came up a little farther than what I expected, but guess that's a Yelp issue. I came here looking for some good Chinese food that was open late, and the reviews on here were good. I ordered the beef and broccoli and was not disappointed. The customer service here was really nice too, and they were quite friendly.

Nev L.

Yelp
We tried the egg rolls, wonton soup, beef with broccoli and the Kung pao. My husband said the Kung pao was decent. I only enjoyed the broth of the wonton soup, but not the wonton. The good reviews set me up for a great meal and I was disappointed.

Yelp
I was craving some Asian food and was going to go to my usual spot when I found this place on Yelp. I used the Yelp app to order my go to Chinese--kung pao chicken. You can order just the meal or for a dollar or two more you can order the combo dinner which comes with fried rice, an egg roll, and your choice of soup. My total was $10.67 with tax and tip, which I found to be a great deal. My only concern was once I placed my order it told me my order would be ready in 45-60 minutes. However, about ten minutes later I received a notification which said my food would be ready in 10 minutes. It really only took about 20 minutes from the time I ordered until it was ready. The food was good, fresh, and definitely met my craving for Chinese food. The portions were large and I definitely had enough for leftovers the next day. Seems like a solid Chinese takeout or delivery restaurant.

Yelp
My friend and I were looking for a Chinese restaurant in Alpharetta near our office. Unfortunately, we don't have many choices, so I took to Yelp and found Yan's cafe. It had great reviews, so we decided to give it a try. Very nice decor, updated and very clean. We were quickly seated and received excellent service! The waiter was very friendly and informative! The menu has a ton of choices, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are good! Lunches include soup and an egg roll. I had the chicken and vegetables and my friend had general T chicken. We both enjoyed them. Wasn't excited about the egg roll, but the entree was fine. Egg drop soup was just ok. In conclusion, we will bring our co workers here next time and will hopefully have the same great service and food. Good job!! We recommend this place! Update: liked this place so much, I tried it again a few days later with a friend. She loved it! She had tofu and veggies and I had the shrimp with broccoli. Yummy!! Again great speedy service and great value.

Yelp
Great food fast service . Little pricey. But still very good ! Highly recommend never have eaten in always order out

Yelp
This is a Chinese restaurant but their menu is all in English since most of their customers are Americans. One of my friends knows the chef here so I know they have good Cantonese food (the chef is from China) Only been here once for dinner and had a great experience! We had a big group of 13 so my friend called them earlier for special orders and arrangement. We ordered over 10 dishes, all Cantonese food and were very delicious and authentic! My most favorites are the lotus root soup, specialty duck and Kung Bao Fish. My other Chinese friends and American friends enjoyed all the food too. I looked at their menu and didn't find our food on their normal dinner menu. My friend told me what we had were all special orders. I THINK if you know Cantonese cuisine and want some authentic Cantonese food you can call them earlier for specific customer orders. I'll come back to try their menu food next time. The price here is very reasonable. And there are quite some parking spots outside the restaurant. I arrived here around 6:30pm and no problem to park.

Yelp
Let me start by saying food 5 stars overall, this was the first time ordering from them and I was pleasantly surprised - it was one of the best Chinese I had in a while. I ordered hot and sour soup, 8 spring rolls, veg fried rice, chicken broccoli, chicken veggies, tofu kng pao chicken lo mein(mild) everything else was medium. Chili oil on side. Came out to $62 and change... What I received was: hot and sour soup, spring rolls no sauce at all, 2 dishes of chicken with veggies, chicken lo mein was medium spice (specifically said for kids please make it mild), tofu kng pao was hot more like. So order was a wrong by 1 dish and some minor errors with 2 While paying I asked for fortune cookies - the lady said already packed in your bag - I asked for duck sauce and soy sauce - already packed in your bag. Asked if they put sauce for spring rolls - already in the bag and the bag was stapled shut. When I got home I had no sauces no fortune cookies! So everyone should definitely check the food bag before leaving! Also the lady who was assisting in check out should be more friendly - she got a bit of attitude when I asked if sauces and fortune cookies were given. Which is the reason why I didn't open the bag to verify. Overall good place and would come back but def reemphasize spice level, double check if everything is in bag and last check for accuracy of order.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese new restaurant with reasonable price. This is probably my favorite Asian food. I was invited by a friend to have different kind of Chinese dishes. They tasted so delisous and you won't feel thirsty after that. Most of the meat are secret recipe and homemade; it's totally different from the others. Highly recommend. So proud of we have such a Chinese restaurant like this at Atlanta.

Yelp
A few coworkers and I decided to try the EAT24 app, Yelp's food delivery service, last week and and ordered food from Yan's Cafe. We were all in the mood for some Chinese, and I, in particular wanted some chicken and broccoli. Although I did not have an experience being in the actual establishment itself, I will say that the EAT24 was easy to use, we were able to track our order, and the delivery driver arrived quicker than expected. Now, this was some food good, and it definitely left me feeling satisfied. I've tried some places where you get more rice than chicken and broccoli, but there was enough of everything. Nothing was bland and was seasoned perfectly. It came with an egg roll, but I also decided to be greedy and order the spring rolls in addition because my coworker advised that they were good. I got full so fast that I saved the rest for dinner. You should definitely try Yan's Cafe, whether through EAT24 or dining in. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I found this restaurant on Yelp. I'm so shocked I had not been here since I love trying new restaurants. I have been here twice now. I just needed to confirm that the food was consistently delicious. I had the General Tso both visits and tried the teriyaki chicken with the veggie fried rice. They are not dining in, but do have hand sanitizer at their table while checking out. I appreciate they provided the food within the time frame they gave me. I will definitely be back!
