This is my second visit to The Square, the fantastic new food hall in the heart of DC, and I couldn't be happier with my dining experience this time. I had the pleasure of trying Chef John Mooney's Yaocho, a culinary journey into Polynesian flavors, featuring delectable fried chicken, chicken and fish sandwiches.
The Fried Chicken Sando was a revelation, with a perfectly crispy thigh that was not only succulent but also incredibly flavorful. The charcoal bun added a unique and appealing touch to the dish, setting it apart from your typical fried chicken sandwich. However, the real star of the show was the Mumbo Yao Sauce. It had just the right amount of spice to give the dish a kick without overwhelming the palate. The combination of the crispy chicken, the smoky bun, and the tangy-spicy Mumbo Yao Sauce created a flavor explosion that left me craving for more.
