Yasha From Russia

Google
I often come here to buy some unusual and delicious food. Wide variety of Ukrainian/Russian foods. They also have other ethnic foods like Bulgarian, Romanian and Polish. I recommend this place to anyone who want to try some Eastern food. Candies, beverages, cold cuts, wide selection of cereals, beverages, and cookies and more. Check it out. I recommend getting white "plombir" ice-cream and trying it with coffee from Press Coffee, which is nearby.

Google
I’m not Russian and haven’t had much experience with Russian food, but this store completely won me over. The young man at the deli counter was incredibly friendly and let me sample several meats and cheeses before choosing—honestly, they were some of the best I’ve had in a long time. My kids had a blast picking out different kinds of candies, and the whole atmosphere made the visit really enjoyable. It’s more than just a spot for unique or international foods; the deli selection, cheeses, and prepared dishes are genuinely impressive. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more!

Marina Z.

Google
I really love this store! The cheese, sausage, caviar, and fish here are very tasty and fresh. I really like Russian and Ukrainian desserts. The prices for imported goods are quite reasonable. But the most valuable thing in this store is the girls: Margarita, Nelly, and Irina. They will help you choose, give you advice, and let you try the delicacies. In the run-up to the holidays, I will only be shopping at this wonderful store. Thank you for the delicious food and excellent service!

Irina P.

Google
My favorite place to go. Has the best chocolate in the world. They have a lot of other things like soda and wine and liquor and food. But the chocolate is the best. Grew up on eating Russian chocolate. The best

Patience S.

Google
Want to feel like you stepped into another country for a moment. Go to yashas where their cream cheeses are velvety smooth. Ive had their biscuits. Reasonably priced take a look. Very kind service.

Dana S.

Google
Good place with always fresh bread and a lot of European products. You can find almost everything you have in mind from Europe to eat or cook.

Mark N.

Google
I can’t say enough good things about this incredible Russian deli! Tucked away near 51st St and Shea, this gem offers an outstanding selection of authentic Eastern European products, from premium caviar to freshly baked, top-quality bread. The variety is unmatched, and everything is crafted with care. The staff is exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and patient, making every visit a pleasure. My only wish is that they’d open another location further south to serve more of the Valley; having just one spot feels like a tease for such a fantastic store! I’m a loyal customer and highly recommend this delightful deli to anyone seeking the best in Russian cuisine.

Illia S.

Google
A wide selection of products. I've visited this store many times and never left empty-handed. I especially like the sausage section (the meat products). Visit this store, you won't regret it.

Arpi H.

Yelp
Yasha from Russia has a great selection of Indo-European and Russian goods. I'm originally from LA and it's a must for me to have a store like this near by - although I'm not familiar with a few brands they carry. Their service was great.
google avatar

Istvan K.

Yelp
We still go to Yasha's whenever we can. It's like a treat for the whole family to make the trip. We always stock up on European deli meats like bologna and salami, and swiss-style cheese. Of course always gotta grab a homemade beef pocket! The potato salad is also fantastic, we usually take home a pound of it. Kefir, cream sodas from Georgia, fresh backed bread.
google avatar

Kirill H.

Yelp
Very friendly stuff! Real atmosphere of Russian grocery store in 1990. 4 stars because there is not enough light in the store. Not large selection of products. Oliv'e salad contains to much mayonnaise. Beef pancakes are too dry, I didn't finished one.
google avatar

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Always a varied selections of products. Never any pressure as I wander around looking at the different foods from other countries. The service was very friendly and I will be returning.
google avatar

Risto K.

Yelp
Specialty ethnic grocery store targeting Russian speaking world. I came to explore and saw few things I wanted to buy mostly sweets and cakes. Service was good as I was the only person in there. Building is old and food/grocery presentation was a bit old. However I do have to say store was very clean! Other than that - I cannot say it was anything special in my eyes....

Yelp
Yasha from Russia is a wonderful store filled with amazing foods that bring back so many memories from when I was growing up in Russia. Every time I walk in, the familiar smells and tastes instantly transport me back to my childhood. From freshly baked bread to classic Russian sweets, it feels like a little piece of home right here. The service is amazing as always.
google avatar

Tehmine K.

Yelp
Loved service and variety of products. I would definitely shop there again. I wish they had a store in Buckeye.
google avatar

Princess V.

Yelp
Awesome grocery store in the valley. Had the pleasure of knowing Mr Yasha in person and like most of his clients we all loved his company.

It is about 30 min drive for me to get there, but o God it is worth it every single time!! I love to go there. Taste and smells of childhood! What could be better? Variety of items is overwhelming, always s fresh and very well presented!! When I make an effort to get to Yasha from Russia I let my self loose !! My family will have yummy authentic Russian dinner tonight with delicious glass of wine from Moldova!!! Thank you Ludochka and Nerik from doing a great job for us!!!

Yelp
This store is a hidden gem. We had not been to an Eastern Market in years and were very impressed with the staff and the items they carried. From Pila mania to the Piroshki to the sausages. The price was very reasonable, we will be back for sure. The store is very well stocked and relatively quiet.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
We have been here a few times over the years. This is such a wonderful little gem for all the Ukrainian and Russians here in the valley. It's authentic, and they have fresh food along with frozen and shelf. They also have fresh baked breads, ice creams, candy, desserts, and alcohol. It really is a one stop shop for all your needs. Even if you're looking to try some cool new stuff. Check out this place, it's worth it. The people that own the store are super friendly and personable, they speak both English and Russian, the store is clean and bright. Go check it out!

Marina C.

Yelp
Great selection of Russian/ european delicacies, and outstanding Customer Service. The staff is very helpful and super friendly. Love this place!!

Alena S.

Yelp
I love this little grocery store, especially for their freshly made hard crusted bread, kefir for the gut health and reasonably priced too, and their Kvas, carbonated drink with natural probiotic. They used to sell jam from young pine nuts. Amazing taste and great for gifts to people who have everything. But lately I don't see that jam on their shelves anymore. I would recommend this store to anyone in Phoenix, AZ. They have a wide selection of Russian and Eastern European foods.

Yevgeniy K.

Yelp
Grate please! Thanks a lot! Love you! Recommend to all good and smart people! Be sure you will have pressure!
google avatar

Irina R.

Yelp
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised surprised with this store as didn't expect a lot at all. They have all the basic staples for Eastern Europeans, and the prices are good. Great selection of unique gifts, liquor, candy, ice cream, tea, etc. Everything we got was fresh and delicious!
google avatar

Mike N.

Yelp
From the fresh baked breads to the cured meats and frozen food this place has it all, the girls behind the counter are very sweet and welcoming also very helpful. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you love Russian cuisine or cooking in general. Really obscure foods and pickled items.

Jerry P.

Yelp
The best Russian deli in the Valley. If you don't buy some of the outstanding German bread that they fly in, and bake locally, you're cheating yourself! I disagree with the comment about pelmini falling apart, because they sell so many different types of perogi and pelmini that if you don't like one brand, try another. Best sour cream and half sour pickles. I think I'm getting hungry......
google avatar

Inna P.

Yelp
My favorite store of all times. I love how owners are always personable. Staff are very friendly, love when Nellya and Tanya is there when I arrive for my shopping. Assortment of products are exellent. Everything is fresh. Make sure you try staff in the freezers: they bake that on site. I love sirniki, pirogki, pelmeni and more and more!!!! Thank you Ludochka and Narik for your hard work!!!

Carrie B.

Yelp
Good selection, excellent bread, candies, sausage, honey and much more. They are very kind and helpful
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
I lived in Kazakhstan for ten+ years and this place has all the food I grew up with. Great food and nice people! If you want some authentic Russian food this is a great choice!
google avatar

Holly M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying the staff is very friendly. I went in for pierogi and was not disappointed - they're incredible. They could be set up a bit better. There is only one place to check out. I was in line with EIGHT other customers waiting on a family of five who looked like they were ringing up their groceries for the week. The woman ringing them up was moving so slowly and just chatting away with them in Russian like she had all the time in the world. What was even worse - the cashier wasn't wearing a mask and neither was the family of five! Isn't there still a mask mandate in Phoenix? The man in line in front of me asked another employee why the cashier wasn't wearing a mask. The employee looked embarrassed and just said, "She's the boss." So the manager (owner?) doesn't have to wear a mask and doesn't require others to either? That alone might keep me from ever visiting again. When I left, I looked on the door for a sign that said masks are required and didn't find one.
google avatar

Ben H.

Yelp
I felt like I was a night club I a bad area at Yasha from Russia. There were a gang of people outside the front entrance, everyone maskless. I thought I might have needed a secret code to get in. The inside was a little creepy but appeared authentic as I didn't know what most of the items in the grocery store were. The life size Putin and Trump cut outs were creepy as well.
google avatar

Heather Z.

Yelp
This is a specialty store. If you know, you know! I didn't know. I went to look for something they did not have and left with a ton of Russian food I didn't need. It was perfect. Their service was great, their food was delicious. The only reason for the four star is the location - it was hard to find the store and it was slightly confusing. The building wasn't terribly remarkable, Still the only game in town for Russian speciality food items and lovely people.

Yelp
An incredible local business that strives for perfection. The selection of unique and delicious products is exceptional during these difficult and trying times. The owners and employees are very helpful, warm and inviting. Please stop by and support this unique, independent business!!

Ken Z.

Yelp
I have been in here a few times and just enjoy getting a chance to hear people speaking Russian. Last time the owner lady was there and let me try and bunch of ready-made items and I ended up buying a lot of food. Pretty tasty stuff. Sometimes when I'm in the area I just drop in to buy a couple sweets or something new/weird that I've never tried. I like it.

Sandy S.

Yelp
We have been shopping here monthly since September '22. It is very much like the Russian Deli's we had back home. I don't understand the complaints of items being stale. We have purchased fresh baked bread every time we have come, and pre-packaged baked goods that are imported. We haven't found anything to be stale as of yet. Yes the selection changes, it used to happen at the other delis we shopped at too. Normal to us, I see this happen at all small scale importers. Decent selection of staples such as flours and noodles, wine and alcohol, candies and sweets, the deli counter is pretty full and the pelmeni is just as it should be! Delicious. They also have teas, coffee, jams and various brands of pickles. (IYKYK) It's clean and the people are very friendly - plus they have in store sales from time to time! I saw the recent reviews that brought in politics. Why is that even here?!? This is an American small business, trying to survive this economy. Let's support small business and shop local.

Dallin B.

Yelp
Love this place! Employees are friendly and helpful. There is always a great selection of Russian and Eastern European foods. Spent a lot of time living in Russia and I make the long trek out here often to get the Russian products I love. All the homemade items are fantastic too. The Russian standard and quality of food is much better than what can be found at normal grocery stores here. Cannot recommend this place enough and I tell everyone about it!
google avatar

Harry V.

Yelp
Excellent selection of deli meats and cheeses. Their Moscow sandwich meat is delicious and light. They bake fresh bread at 11 am. I still have to sample their candies and learn what they are. Park in back of building. I missed the entry.
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
Great service. We wanted hard salami and we were given samples of various ones so we could try before we bought. The pickles are delicious. Loved that you add the juice after you pay for the pickles. Also got to eat a few before buying. They have a nice candy selection and wine. We bought beer from Israel for our kids. The store is about 45 minutes away from us but we will go back. They do deliver which is very nice. Great experience.
google avatar

Genie G.

Yelp
The store looks uninviting inside and out. Parking lot is full of potholes - watch out for your tires. The store is very dark and does not give a clean impression. Selections vary from week to week and are not abundant. Ready to eat items are minimal. Prices are high and service is slow. This store has no reason to improve absent many alternatives.
google avatar

Kristy D.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with their specialty items. They have great selection for candies, alcohol, deli, frozen food, cakes, canned goods, etc. The staff was very friendly and asked if we needed help. They were kind enough to check in the back for Chicken Pelmeni which is a favorite of mine. This store is special to my hubby because he is 1/2 Russian. Having food/goodies from his childhood is nostalgia at its finest. Only wish it was a little closer to us but I am more than happy to make the trek over there.
google avatar

Nina T.

Yelp
This place is amazing! They have dessert, pelmeni, caviar, cheese, salami, dried fish, packaged items and more. They even have non food items such as Russian books, matryoshka, (Russian dolls), soaps etc. They are very nice as well, let me try the salami before purchasing.

Philippe M.

Yelp
Have to buy/spend a lot of money before sales people crack a smile or are simply polite: a real Russian experience. Food choice is ok, could do without the pressure... no ambiance whatsoever.
google avatar

Lori L.

Yelp
Fabulous selection and truly helpful staff. Delicious, soft meat pies, and tasty vegetable salad made for a perfect impromptu afternoon picnic. We're from Wittmann and Yasha's is totally worth the drive. Highly recommend this jewel in Paradise Valley.

Yelp
Great place to shops for authentic Russian delicatessen.. Great variety.. from Russia, Armenia.. Awesome pastries..

Eugenia I.

Yelp
I just read the article online, that this business has hard time suppling groceries. I'm sorry to hear this. I'm a customer, who shop on occasions in the store for 20 years. Not able to find the stuff lately in the 4-5 years that I used to bought. I was disturbed by photos of Stalin at the register area and the life size cut outs of Putin and Trump. The owner obviously wants to show his political and moral affiliations, but the customers don't need to know and frankly don't care. I used to know the original owner Yasha, who was nice, but communist and obviously Stalinist to his core. I will not be shopping in this store anymore amid the current war in Ukraine.

JM S.

Yelp
Amazing little store with automatic food items I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. I support this little gem with all my heart. I know it's the only one in the state that survived pandemic, war etc. I don't understand people complaining about paper figures, what's the f..big deal ? Why making everything political? In any case, too many dumb people . I just wish this store and their employees many years of prosperity and hopefully they will open up more stores. I have to drive all the way from chandler every time, that's my only complaint. Otherwise I would be shopping there every day !

Inge K.

Yelp
Maybe now is the time to finally remove the two carton cretins. I have been getting my sausage there for years but every time I enter the store my stomach tightens have to tell myself "I like their wieners and sausage." 3 stars. Blame it on the carton douches.
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
This is basically a large specialty market. It mainly carries Russian items but I also saw a lot of Moldavian, Armenian, Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Georgian items. This market has a hell of a lot to offer from boxes of chocolate to specialty beer to dried meats, a variety of cheeses, teas, coffees, honey, jam, cookies, liquors, you name it, I even saw toothpaste and medicine. I was glad to have found this place. I intend on trying the wide beer selection of dark malts as well as some of the ice cream and chocolates. In addition to carrying most everything, they have some traditional pieces in the back, for your own home. Lovely store! I was even greeted in Russian right when I entered! Which reminds me of the wonderful service. I always had someone asking if I needed help looking for something or if I was doing okay. :)
google avatar

Kenny S.

Yelp
I stopped in for my first visit during their festival weekend and the place was packed ! They sell my favorite pickles from NY and are fully stocked with all sorts of goodies. Get in there and check it out!
google avatar

Christine W.

Yelp
Lots of great food from around the world, but mostly items from Russia. The best variety of sausages and amazing dumplings and perogies! Can't wait to be able to try all the different beers and wines! Even just looking around at all their different items is so much fun to me! Haha!
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
I rarely update reviews but Yashas has really stepped up their game from my last review. They have many Eastern European, Central Asian, Eurasian and some Western European foods. I get Russian Kvas most often but love the varying beers they get. Also many exotic Russian products like candy, condiments, and daily care stuff like tooth paste. It is fun to come here and speak Russian as I slowly learn to speak, read and write it. Prices are fair and selection is awesome.
google avatar

Niko L.

Yelp
Love this place. Been a few times. Good selection. Yes it is not inviting as much say, but I go there for the foods they have. Yes, the service isn't the fastest but... European culture is different. Definitely want to return
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
Very friendly personnel, especially Elena, thank you for being so nice and pleasant! Amazing section with frozen goods, great selection of wine and beer. Also their homemade salads and dishes are exceptionally good! Definitely my favorite spot for Russian food. Highly recommend.

Tom C.

Yelp
Full-on attitude. Stoic faces with cold hearts. They clearly must be doing well and don't need you to shop to support their business. I've been in several times over the years for half sour pickles and bread. They still have bread but wouldn't slice it. No more half sour pickles. I could write a long review on the attitude when I asked about half sour pickles and sliced bread, but what's the point. I don't plan on learning Russian to try and win over their cold hearts. I also don't plan on going back. Sad to see, but oh well.

Russell C.

Yelp
Have shopped here a few times, so I feel comfortable leaving a review now. Their fresh bread is delicious, get it when you can as they sell out. The selection is good. It's a smaller market with a deli, so don't think supermarket. I make a point of stopping here whenever I'm in the north valley. I see some bad reviews complaining about Russia. This is a small American business, so I don't see what the problem is, maybe they just don't like small business. And if you don't like Putin, tell Europe to stop buying his gas.
google avatar

Bob L.

Yelp
I must chuckle when I read the reviews of people stating that they are upset over Yasha selling Russian products...good grief,it's a Russian store folks! What do you want them to sell?! Eskimo pies? If you are upset about it, don't even come through the doors! And insofar as "supporting the Russian economy" by buying Yasha's goods, The reviewers have little comprehension on international marketing.....products from many various Eastern European countries are offered, and I am always treated extremely well when I shop at Yasha's. The original owner was a big fan of President Putin when Putin 1st came to power in Russia and realigned the country, the owner has since died and his children leave the cut outs of President Trump and Putin as a tribute to their Dad. Try to understand the history before applying your own ,present day emotions and biases to a family owned venture....you might miss out on some good Russian food! I am glad to support family run businesses in the USA.....

Yelp
We love Yasha from Russia. Their exotic delicious meats and cheeses never disappoint. We have served them at many of our events and parties, and our guests always rave about them. This is a true European deli well worth the visit. Thank you Yasha from Russia for always being so spectacular! Yelp
I love this place. I was in today and the cashier was not wearing gloves or a mask. When I commented he was clueless. Melissa who is awesome came over and finished my sale. Also please loose theTrump life size sign. I love you guys but these 2 issues are really not politically correct. I hope the management reads this. I really would prefer to have left a 5 star review.
