Updated: 03/29/25 I really wanted to like this place!— just didn’t meet what I was hoping for. I ordered Salmon Teriyaki for almost $30 and; the fish was dry, the amount of Miso Soup was very little (maybe a few sips), and I requested a side of teriyaki sauce that was forgotten too. I personally wouldn’t recommend yet the first impression is a 5-start with Andy. (Shared below) Grateful either way. Thank you, Yasuda! Prior to: Pending review yet just spoke with Andy on the phone— was a welcoming and kind being! I am new in town and trying sushi here for the first time coming from the city and Saratoga. 😊

This is our go-to sushi spot in the area. Great sushi. We recently started dining in here & there & were pleasantly surprised by the staff & interior. Very attentive, great service. We will continue coming back!

The sushi here is always delicious, and the service is always exceptional. The servers are so attentive, quick and make you feel at home. It is a great feeling when you get a beautiful plate of sushi brought by someone who feels like a friend.

This location SHOULD get a five star with the quality of food, attentive service, and pleasant atmosphere; however, there was a staff member (luckily not the sushi chef!) behind the sushi bar open mouth coughing towards the prep area. C’mon, man. It’s not even cooked food, so it delivers to the customer with that freshly applied.

Excellent food, and very polite and attentive service from Salman. We made a pitstop here on the way back to NJ from the Catskills and it hit the spot for a great late lunch option. There were a few vegetarian options available, but the sushi is what is the best thing here

I had a wonderful time going to yasuda. My friend invited me out to lunch with her today and she took me here to yasuda. It is such a nice ambience here and everyone was so kind, warm, inviting, and friendly. They really know how to talk to you and make you feel very welcomed. The food was delicious and very fresh and tasty. It was also so affordable! I will definitely come here again. Top sushi in town for me.

The toro was absolutely divine. So much so I ordered a second serving, both were very lightly seared per request followed by a Toro sushi roll. Washed down with some dry saki. Most pleased.

Fantastic meal, my whole family loved the appetizers, soup, salad, sashimi and sushi. Attentive and kind waitstaff, wonderful gem of a restaurant!

Last minute FRIDAY NIGHT birthday dinner, party of 8...we show up at Yasuda about 7:30pm and they basically roll out the red carpet for us with an already busy front house! Non stop drinks, gyoza and soup apps (our request) from the moment we sat down...I swear we never waited more than 2 minutes for another plate of appetizers! Our main courses were incredible, and SO FAST! The birthday song chorus served with the obligatory ice cream tempura was everything our last minute birthday girl had hoped for, the cooks even came out to sing lolol! Overall: such amazing ambiance, staff and FOOD! Dont hesitate to hit this local legend soon!

Great place for sushi in Kingston! This is one of my favorite places to go with my friends, it never disappoints. I took a friend this weekend and the meal was delicious, and everything is always super fresh. We got 2 of each roll, spicy tune, eel and avocado, and the Kingston roll, the presentation was great! Our waiter was attentive and very kind, as well as the other staff. They quickly greeted us when we arrived and were incredibly helpful. I will definitely be back, and recommend you give Yasuda a try!

Good sushi in ''midtown" Kingston! Great lunch specials make it one of our favorites. They even have loyalty rewards program (a free app or miso soup yes pls!). I like their speciality rolls but all the simpler options never disappoint either. Even for dinner prices are very reasonable and always tastes fresh. Casual vibe inside. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating! Only good things to say about Yasuda!

Came to lunch with my daughter today. She got spring rolls & hibachi noodles. I got the shrimp tempura lunch box special. This came with California rolls, white rice, veggies and Shumai. There was also a salad & miso soup (which we devoured before I could take a picture. Oh dear! It's a lot. I'm going to be eating this for a while. (Because I have a small stomach) SO good. The waiter is super nice and patient. The music is soft and just a nice ambiance in the background. It's not overly lit up but the front wall is all windows so it's plenty light enough. I really do enjoy eating here. Though I usually get it to go.

Our family has gotten sushi from Yasuda at least a half dozen times in the past few months, and it's always consistently good. Unlike some other places that tuck a tiny sliver of fish in a big ball of rice, they don't skimp here. And the fish is fresh and high quality. Despite rampant inflation, they appear to be trying to hold costs down too, which is very much appreciated. This will continue to be our go-to spot for sushi.

I bought a Groupon for this business. I paid $15 to get $20 worth of food. Server gave me a hard time about using it but, finally she resolved it by talking over the phone to the owner. She said they make no money when people use Groupons. I will go back, but warning... not worth buying the Groupon.

Went here tonight with my wife and we both ordered hibachi dinners. She had salmon and I had steak and chicken. Both were cooked perfectly and delicious! Rock shrimp appetizer was delicious as were the shumai. Everything was piping hot and place was extremely clean!! Server was new but excellent as well. Very attentive but not annoyingly so.

Food was so FRESH! A lot of sushi classics, but also interesting combinations as well. Service was excellent and super friendly! We will definitely be coming back!!!

Top notch food, prepared beautifully, with good service. Super fresh high quality sushi. You can't go wrong here. The pineapple rice and pan fried yaki udon noodles were wonderful as well.

I'm a complete Green Tea ice cream head. Ordered some, actually 2. Yup. Told ya. Pig me lol. I ate both, with chopsticks! Yes, I did. The people who work here, probably Own it. They're Lovely! Btw. Great experience at Yasuda! We started with the seaweed salad, gyoza, and spring rolls. All were very tasty and it came out very quickly! We then got vegetable and shrimp fried rice which was absolutely perfect. The shrimp was cooked so well and the veggies were tender. So delicious! For our sushi, we got the rainbow roll and the Kingston roll. Again, just very well done. Couldn't get pics because I dove right into eating. Our service was great, our waitress was so friendly and happy to serve us. The place is very quaint inside! We were so happy to hear music playing from the Studio Ghibli movies! Will 100% be coming back.

Okay, I know it sounds crazy (because it's so far upstate) but this is one of the tastiest sushi restaurants I've been too. The fish tasted fresh and the toro was absolutely scrumptious. There were a few specials and we got them all. If you can catch them, the Amazing Roll (I did it gluten free) was SO TASTY! I had several hand rolls and they were five stars. We also had the WAGYU dumplings. I was so involved in eating I forgot to snap a pic but my partner loved them so much we wished we got more by the time we drove home.

Food was delicious and came out quickly. We both got different combination sushi rolls. Will be back.

My wife took me to Kingston for my birthday and we chose to go here after some locals suggested it. No ambience to speak of but great service and far, far better than your average sushi outside of a big urban center. And I know, because all I want to do is eat great Japanese food and drink sake until I die. I could also slurp soup noodles until I die. Or eat steamed crabs until my fingers bleed and I pass out.

I order delivery at least once a week. Polite, fast service, and consistently good food.

Came by to Yasuda during my visit to Catskills. Their waitresses are all very friendly and provided wonderful service. I got the Salmon teriyaki bento box and the salmon was cooked just right. It came with salad and miso soup. The soft shell crab appetizer was a bit disappointing since it seems like the breading is either the breading is over cooked. Overall I would definitely come back in the future if I am in area! Can't go wrong with great staffs and decent food.

Grabbed an order to go while upstate for a long weekend. Ended up getting a few rolls, one was on special and an order of edamame. Sat and had a small sake and Sapporo while I waited and the staff was friendly and helpful. The order came out super fast, and everything was very good. If this place were in the city I'd be back to try more items off the menu. Super impressed to find this good of quality upstate. Definitely would recommend anyone passing through to give it a try.

This is some damn good sushi. I got 4 rolls with brown rice because I'm trying to bro out for the summer. I need abs. And more sushi.

My fiancé and I were staying upstate and ordered take out from Yasuda. The food came in less than an hour and was delicious. The bbq squid was nicely charred with the right crunch at the edges. The salads were refreshing and the sashimi were fresh and light. We loved it all.

Have been ordering delivery from this restaurant twice a week this past month or two. Prompt. Efficient. Fresh and beautiful plates/boxes/meals. Soooo delicious. I appreciate the thoughtful care and attention that goes into everything I have eaten from here. (The soba meal was a poor choice for delivery. By the time I received it, it became sort of mushy and pasty. I am certain, if eaten as soon as it is prepared, it would be fabulous.)

Terrific place I found while up in the New Paltz area. Fresh fish and prepared well. With a very friendly staff! We'll be back!

The wagyu dumplings were sooo good. Sushi was also great. If they have them, GET THE DUMPLINGS!!! So juicy and flavorful

The Sashimi is great here, and friendly service as well. It is close to where I work, and they are always very good at taking orders over the phone and providing prompt service

Food is absolutely amazing. Such a unique experience for sushi lovers. We order take out from here regularly and are never disappointed. The Sushi sandwich is a must try. The special rolls are so different and fresh. Best sushi around by far. Love it here.

Awesome local spot for fresh sushi (and I almost cried upon opening the menu at how the prices were a fraction of the sushi spots in NYC). Hostess and the chefs making the sushi were extremely friendly. My mom and I ordered the seafood salad, the avocado salad, and the sashimi deluxe. Really liked how the greens weren't drowning in dressing and the slices of avocado were cut neatly and uniformly and arranged on top with care (yeah, I know it's just avocado but the attention demonstrated towards this slightly lesser task was a good tip that the cuts of fish would also be neat and clean). The salmon and the yellowtail in particular were delicious; could have eaten more of those. They have plenty of seating indoors. Tasty miso soup. Got the tip about the parking lot too late and ended up just parking somewhere on the street. Definitely worth a stop if you're near the area.

Yasuda was good! Bonus points for a super friendly staff and quick service. It wasn't sushi that I dream about for the next week, but we really enjoyed the meal overall and would return.

Ordered a party platter for pickup. Fresh and was prepared as ordered. Definitely going back soon for more!

Amazing cucumber avocado sushi rolls. So fresh, good servings. 5/5 ~6$ for 6 piece roll The vegetable gyoza was 3-4/5. I'm happy they had vegan option and it wasn't great. Nice to not only be able to order sushi though. Vegetable tempura was a let down. Only had zucchini, broccoli and something else. Vegan tempura mix they said it's only flour. The veggies were cut way too big and I didn't get any of my favorite tempura veggies like onion, carrots, potato or peas. Ended up not eating more than a few bites. Fast service, friendly service. Need to request extra soy sauce and utensils. They charge 40 cents per 10$ extra for card so cash discount in that sense.

We have ordered from them for years but finally stopped in for dinner. Such a wonderful staff and the same delicious sushi! We sat at the bar and watched their precision. Really impressive. Then they brought our food out on a boat (!) which was a huge hit. So delicious and really friendly group! Definitely will be back to dine in. Heard the cheesecake tempura is amazing. Will try next time!

The food at Yasuda is fresh and flavorful. We enjoyed the seaweed salad, vegetarian gyoza, ginger surprise, Yasuda roll and a California roll. All were exceptional. The service is very friendly. The restaurant is clean, inviting and typical. It was our first time dining at Yasuda but it won't be our last. This one is sure to make the regular rotation!

Love the ambiance at Yasuda! The food is great and fresh. Best chicken fried rice I've ever had in my life. The sushi is always delicious as are the pork gyoza. The staff are super friendly and the service was excellent!

Yay! So happy to have discovered this place. I always go to sushi makio, but now this is the new spot. The staff is extremely kind, and you can just tell there's so much love put into every dish. One of my plates came with cute little tomato bunnies!! My only complaint is hot soup served in plastic bowls, but I'm weird about things like that. Can't wait to go back!

2.5 stars, overall. Ordered while staying overnight in the area. Not sure if other options were better but I'd try them next time. 1 star - Chicken Yakitori ($6.78) this seemed to be made of the breast instead of thigh? Really dry. 1 star - Tatsuta Age ($7.92) incredibly dry and rock hard. We couldn't eat it. 3 stars - Side of Sushi Rice ($2.85) fine, as expected. 3 stars - mixed sushi platter - the maki and nigiri were fine. Nothing wrong, but nothing great about them, either. Maybe a bit small. 2 stars - Vegetable Tempura ($15.90) this was ok but the price seems very high for the amount that you get. 5 stars: delivery person. On time and super friendly.

I don't know about you, but I'm obsessed with seafood. I seriously started salivating with Sushi, the minute I decided to only eat Seafood as part of my lifestyle. And the rest is history. Not many places in Kingston were opened- especially, a day after Thanksgiving as we were slowly heading up further North. But Yasuda was!!! I'll be honest, I had my doubts and just looked at the surface without even going inside. But glad I did! Well-kept and clean with the main dining room up front and another, off to the right with lights off (figured with the light foot traffic after Thanksgiving, it's kept that way for a reason). Joyce was welcoming with a smile from ear to ear. Menu was plentiful and had a hard time deciding what to go for. Seaweed Salad as my starter was very good. 'Sweet Potato Tempura Roll'- was very tasty- even with the light Wasabi Cream on it- and so glad it wasn't drenched with it. I liked that Yasuda's sushi swatches had a nice length and didn't fall apart. My 'Kingston Roll' with Tuna/ Avocado/Crunchy Salmon was excellent! The Man had his usual and were all very good also. By the way, I just went with a Tuna Roll as part of my Check-In offer, but you have a nice selection to choose from. Price was good for being up here. Yasuda hit all the right notes- with plating style, quality and pleasant service. Nice go-to place the next time I head up north.

Me and my boyfriend are in town on business and we were looking for a relaxing, good quality meal and found just that AND MORE! Yasuda exceeded our expectations with the calm atmosphere, delicious food, and spectacular service. The sushi had big portions of fish which was a bargain considering the affordable price! Our waitress was the sweetest and so attentive. The atmosphere was so friendly and calm making us feel welcomed and relaxed. Cant say enough!! If you're in town wanting great sushi and a great dining experience Yasuda is a must!!!

Fantastic experience. I went here in the afternoon with my mother after a hospital visit. Air conditioning was strong, music and atmosphere was peaceful. The service was very friendly . I had a "monster" roll with lobster tempura and my mother had tempura. My mom enjoyed so much she ordered a sashimi takeout to take with us! I wish there was one of these Yasuda restaurants in Woodstock! But Kingston area is lucky to have such a fine establishment.

I have been going here for years as it is the best sushi/sashimi in Kingston. It's always fresh as the owner goes to the fish market in NYC regularly.

I am sitting at the sushi bar as I write this. BLOWN AWAY. Truly. I had the Shumai to start which was absolutely delicious and perfectly steamed. I'm glad I read the reviews before I came because everyone raved about the Kingston roll and I now know why. Unbelievable combination of flavors and textures. I asked the sushi chef what else he recommended and he said to try the Magic Roll. Another home run. The eel was to die for! I'm incredibly impressed and the next time I'm visiting back home, this will be my first stop off the thruway. VERY IMPRESSED!

Service was prompt, food was hot and fresh. Miso especially was good. Pick up was a breeze! Would go again.
