"A specialist in dim sum, popular in cities around the world. The red exterior belies the classic dining experience within, which is lively on every visit. Enjoy the culture of dim sum with Chinese tea to your heart’s content. The full complement of authentic dishes includes jasmine-smoked pork, steamed scallop siu mai dumplings, steamed shrimp gyoza dumplings and rice-noodle rolls wrapped in fried tofu skin. If the weather’s nice, taking in the local ambience on the terrace is recommended." - Michelin Inspector

Delicious! We had some of the best dim sum we've ever tasted here. We ordered most of the dishes with the blue checkmarks (the restaurant’s top picks) plus a few extras, and honestly, everything was amazing. The flavors were spot on across the board. The music was a little loud at times, but it added to the lively vibe. If you manage to snag a reservation, you're definitely in for a treat.

One of the Best Meals We Had in Tokyo – Mainly Thanks to the Service This was easily one of the best meals we had during our time in Tokyo, and that was largely down to the exceptional service. Whoever our waiter was that night honestly deserves a raise. To start with, I have to say this was probably the best service we’ve ever received at a restaurant – even compared to some Michelin-starred places. We had two staff members looking after our table, and they struck the perfect balance: attentive at just the right moments, without ever being intrusive. They changed our plates regularly, made sure we had everything we needed, and were genuinely warm and welcoming. Just perfect. We were originally seated at the back of the restaurant facing a wall, so we asked if we could move to a seat that faced inwards towards the kitchen. Even though the restaurant was busy and we had booked our table three months in advance, they accommodated our request within five minutes. That gesture really stood out. The Food & Pricing The food was great overall, though not everything quite hit the mark. The standout dish was the prawn cheung fun – easily the best I’ve ever had. The char siu bao was solid. The dumplings weren’t for me, but that’s more about personal taste. My partner really enjoyed the duck spring rolls. The pak choi was fine, but quite expensive for what it was – maybe just not to our taste. The prawn toast was fantastic – some of the best I’ve had – though let down a bit by the presentation. Another table received theirs on a long plate with the pieces neatly spaced out, while ours came in a small bowl, which didn’t do it justice. A small thing, but memorable because the dish itself was so good. The venison puff was nice, though we would’ve appreciated a slightly larger portion. The jasmine ribs were a let-down, unfortunately. We chose them over the duck pancakes for something different, but they were a bit too smoky and not very meaty. For one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, they didn’t quite deliver. In hindsight, we should’ve stuck with the duck. It would be great if there were other flavour options for the ribs. We finished with the custard buns, which were a perfect end to the meal – warm, comforting, and delicious. Overall Impression The service here is truly top-tier, and the dishes we liked, we really liked. The ones we didn’t enjoy felt like a noticeable drop in quality, which was a little surprising. Still, the high points made it all worthwhile. Would definitely recommend this restaurant – it’s on the pricier side for Tokyo, but the experience and service make it well worth it.

Their dim sum was truly exceptional! I ordered all the dishes marked with the blue ticks, and they easily ranked among the best dim sum I’ve ever had in my life. Every bite was a perfect balance of flavors and textures, with the delicate craftsmanship shining through each dish. The variety, from perfectly steamed dumplings to the beautifully crafted buns, offered a delicious journey that left me wanting more. It’s just amazing😍

I’m not sure how authentic the yamcha / dimsum is but this is definitely one of the best new restaurants in Tokyo. The food is incredible. Clever and delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful. Could sit there all day gently grazing. No complaints on service either. For any complaining about the price? Of course it’s more expensive. The food is amazing. It’s well staffed. And it’s a few hundred yards away from both Tokyo station and the Imperial Palace. The interior design is spectacular. I’d be back even if they stacked the menu by 2 or 3X. Well done!

The Har gow dumplings were excellent and filled with a lot of shrimp. The Crispy Aromatic Duck plate was on point - crispy on outside and soft on the inside! The roasted pork was sweet and smoky like in flavor - very good. Overall great restaurant and highly Recommended. Also the black sesame dessert was very interesting - it was like mini black sesame fondant rice ball

OMG, this might just became my favorite dim sum place in Tokyo. I do go to a lot of different dim sum places all over the world but this place went above and beyond my expectations. Every dishes I ordered was fantastic and service here is top notch. I didn’t make reservations so I ended up in their terrace but that was so beautiful too. Everything here was great but the sesame balls here blew my mind. I loved it so much that I ordered lots of them to take home to give away to my family and friends. Lol highly highly recommended

We booked a course for lunch! I think not a big course but we full filed a lot! Everything here I can say that it’s very perfect maybe the best Chinese food in tokyo that I ever had now! Especially the castard bao! Very similar to Thailand. I do love it!!

I ordered the scallop siu mai, crispy yuba cheung fun, yuba maki and luo bo gao. It’s is the best dimsum I’ve had in Japan. The menu is short but sufficient—many of the greatest hits are there. That said, I don’t know why Sichuan wontons or dandan mian are on offer. I don’t go to a HK / south eastern Chinese joint to eat Sichuan food. 🤨 I’m also very conflicted about the prices. The ambience (though colonialism-nostalgic), food and service are great, but at ¥9,000 a meal, complimentary tea might be a nice gesture. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Still, best yum cha I’ve had in Japan, so I’ll certainly be back. I didn’t get to eat everything I wanted to. Just sad that it’s too expensive to make into a regular Sunday brunch like actual yum cha.

Yelp
Top quality dim sum with price tag to match. Almost everything we tried at YAUMAY was delicious. However, the portion size is small and cost seems excessive for Tokyo standards. For example, a pot of jasmine tea is typically free typically in dim sum restaurants...we paid ¥1800 just for tea. The char-siu BBQ bun 叉燒包 is sold EACH bun at ¥700, and the sticky rice in lotus leaf 荷葉珍珠雞 is ¥2000. For our table of four ladies, our bill was over ¥21,000 and we weren't even full. I wouldn't recommend coming with families because my sons alone would probably eat ¥5000 worth of just shumai and hargow at such elevated price. Food quality is good, but this is not an everyday dim sum restaurant. Save this for special occasion and be prepared to leave slightly underfed.

Yelp
Terrific option for dim sum in central Tokyo. YAUMAY is located in Marunouchi on the Second Floor of Marunouchi Niyubashi Square, just between Ginza and the Imperial Palace Park. As with everything in Japan, precision and attention to the smallest details are to be expected at YAUMAY. While there a few larger menu items on the menu, you really should be saving space for the dim sum. It is all excellent and perfectly prepared. The service is excellent as well. Their tea, cocktails and wine selections are great too. Super spot for a weekend brunch. While great dim sum is everywhere in Hong Kong, it is a lot harder to find in Tokyo. YAUMAY makes it worth the effort!
