"The words “dog-friendly” and “national parks” don’t usually go together (dogs are not permitted on trails in the national parks and are not allowed below the rim of the Grand Canyon), but if you’re into traveling with a four-legged companion, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find the dog-friendly patio at Yavapai Tavern. Outfitted with fire pits so that it can be enjoyed year-round, the restaurant serves elk burgers with roasted poblano, vegan chili, create-your-own pizza, and rotating gelato selections. Live music and Arizona craft beer make for a lively experience with unbeatable scenery." - Krista Diamond, Janna Karel

We heard about the Elk Burger from the shuttle bus driver and decided to try it ourself! It's amazingly delicious! I personally think that it taste like beef, but a bit tougher. But since it's been minced to a party, the chewiness is adding a nice texture to the burger. No weird smell whatsoever. Salsa sauce is also very nice. The soup is not my cup of tea, i think it's too thick to be called a soup.

First time visiting here. The food was good and the best tavern in that area. The mushroom sandwich was amazing.

Food was fantastic, very good vegetarian options. The nachos were massive and easily can be split among 4 people. The tacos were okay, worth adding some spice to it. If they have the Roasted Poblano soup, get it - it’s vegetarian, creamy and well made. The servers were very friendly and checked on us a few times. Great space, great weather and service. Probably the best in the GC area.

Google
Great place, not only for beers, but GREAT food. We only shared the chicken, mushroom, cheese pizza and chips and salsa. Heated up the chips in the microwave in the dining hall, the salsa tasted HOMEMADE! Saw the burger going to another table! I think it's coming to my table TOMORROW! Had a 22oz Mother Road Tower Station IPA. ABU 7.3%, IBU 70. Hoppy good! Quaint location to wind down from the 4 1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas!

Stopped here for a quick lunch during our visit to the park. The place is decent with quick service. I got the grilled chicken quesadilla which was nice and filling. My wife got the green chille burger with the black bean and corn salad. I preferred the burger for the overall taste as the quesadilla felt a bit bland.

Google
I love this place! My friend and I had the Elk Burger with kettle chips! We loved the environment and enjoyed catching on the football games while having some awesome Mullied Wine!! Check out my photo, do I need to say more!! Haha love the customer service and great environment!!

Google
Customer service was amazing! The server was super nice and sweet, we got the melted elk and fruita summer salad. Both were very delicious, they also had a dining hall next to us with lots of options although we didn’t try it. Bathrooms were very clean and the whole dining hall was clean! There was a man coming around grabbing plates and cups and he was very nice as well.

We ordered the noddle bow and burger. The noddle bow is tasteless and cold. The service is like a fast food restaurant. I feel the buffet side is better

Yelp
If this is really the best food at the South Rim, the other options must be dire. The "melted elk" was perfectly edible. It was cold by the time it got to me, perhaps due to how crowded it was--and this takes away much of the point of going to a restaurant rather than packing food. The patty didn't taste like anything beyond underseasoned mystery meat and was very dry, but the cheese was well-melted and the sourdough was good quality. The sides were likely made elsewhere, and thus were fine.

Yelp
I stopped at Yavapai Tavern to enjoy some lunch after touring the Grand Canyon. Overall, it's a laid back, order at the counter type of place. They have both indoor seating and a beautiful, large patio. It appears to be located inside of a hotel which was interesting. The bartender who took our order was friendly and informative about the menus. After deciding on drinks and food, I ordered for our group. We got the Roasted Poblano Soup, the GCT Nachos (with chicken), and the Grilled Chicken Quesadilla. The soup and nachos were wonderful! The quesadilla was your standard, average quesadilla so that's the only thing I wouldn't order again. As you can see from the photos, the nachos were HUGE and I would totally order them again. Prices are a little high but it's inside the Grand Canyon so to be expected. If you're looking for a delicious and quick lunch stop, check out Yavapai Tavern!

Yelp
I'm surprised the reviews are so low of this place. It's a little confusing to find as you kind of have to walk through a cafeteria style area to get back to the tavern, but it's worth it. The bartender was knowledgeable and gave good suggestions on the menu. It's order at the counter and that's the only thing I wish was different. We ordered the poblano soup, nachos with chicken substituted and the quesadilla to share. The quesadilla was unimpressive, but the other two were killer. The nachos are large and come with super yummy and great portions of the toppings. The poblano soup came with cornbread croutons on top and I wish I could figure out how to recreate this soup at home. It was a great stop after a long day at the Grand Canyon!

Yelp
Nice restaurant with lots of seating outdoors and some tables inside. No reservations and just walk-ins. You order at the counter at the bar and they give you a number to put on your table. Find your own table and cold water is from a dispenser by the door leading to the patio. A little cold sitting outside but it's nice to be outdoors and the tables were clean. Bring a jacket in the evenings because there aren't any heat lamps. The elk chili, elk sandwich, and elk burgers were delicious. The personal pizza was a good size but a little on the plain side. The salad was smaller than expected but tasted good and it was fresh. The bowl of soup was a small bowl. Convenient location with a friendly staff and free WiFi!

Lisa T.

Yelp
This is a decent food option in the Grand Canyon. Pork street tacos were good. Husband got the elk burger, which he said was just okay. A great place to fuel up after hiking. Service is speedy.

Michael S.

Yelp
On a busy evening we were hoping service would be quick because we planned to catch a shuttle to see the sun set over the Grand Canyon. It was. An oversized hamburger came up much quicker than the quoted 30 minutes, and it and the generous side of fries were sufficient for two. The menu here is basically burgers, sandwiches and salads. Indoor, bar, and outdoor seating are available.

Michelle B.

Yelp
We stopped for dinner while at the lodge and canyon this last weekend. The food was decent but it took a LONG time to get it. Apparently there was miscommunication in the kitchen. We ordered a kids burger, kids grilled cheese, bison and bacon burger and pizza with gluten free crust. It was all good, but the bison burger was a bit meh for the cost. The tomatoes were not dried and squirted everywhere when you tried to take a bite. Otherwise it was good. At least the 2 beers were decent.

Adam S.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I split the pork nachos on a recent trip here, and it was a ton of food. You could split this between 3-4 people pretty easily depending on how hungry everyone was. Considering the location, I'm going 4/5. Service was fast and friendly, and although I saw the Sysco truck out back when I arrived, the food was good as well. I think my expectations were exceeded, but I wasn't expecting much after a long day of hiking. I was thankful for a chair, something cold to drink, and some nachos.

Teri B.

Yelp
Had their IPAs and their hot mulled wine omg so good. The ambiance was very nice and relaxing. Prices were very reasonable too. We will be back.

Olivia S.

Yelp
Lovely outdoor seating with fireplace! We got the cowboy quesadillas, soba noodles, chickpea carrot salad, harvest apple salad and the Deschutes cherry vanilla jubelale. All of which were delicious!! We had a speedy order and sat outside. Out of all the place to eat in the canyon and surrounding area this is a must!! They had fresh ingredients and excellent food.

Edwin S.

Yelp
After you enter the Grand Canyon lodging area, there are just a handful of restaurants for you to eat from, ranging from a general canteen, local tavern, dining hall and pizza pub. If you're looking for a quick bite, smaller line and perhaps a good view of the latest sports event that's happening live on TV, Yavapai Tavern is your spot. Taste: 4/5 Ambience: 3.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Value for Money: 3.5/5 We had: 1) Chips and Salsa (guac comes with!): this was the best value for money item, for $6, you got almost a whole avocado with the guac, salsa was okay 2) Close to the edge (burger): meat on meat, expect a burger and brisket on top 3) The melted elk: not as gamey as advertised, a nice elevated meaty grilled cheese 4) Pork Tacos: just normal tacos, can't go wrong! Pro tip: when you are looking for food, this spot tends to have a smaller line. Also it closes at 10pm whereas most places close between 8 or 9Pm.

Sarah V.

Yelp
Easy spot to pop in for a drink and pub food. My husband and I shared drinks and a HUGE plate of nachos. This probably could have fed three or four people. The food was good, but there was a bit of a wait cause it's a popular place. Would recommend arriving well before you're "hangry." Just plan to be patient cause the staff is nice and the quality of food was good.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Here in October, they offer nice outdoor seating with heat lamp. Ample indoor seating too. Great food options. Friendly staff. I had the chickpea smashed salad and corn soup.

Robert G.

Yelp
We were staying at the Trailer Village in the Grand Canyon National Park and asked what they recommended for a good restaurant inside the park. She recommended the Yavapai Tavern so we tried it. First of all you are limited to restaurants inside the park and know you will be spending more there than regular restaurants. Kinda like going to Disney. This is a pay for you meal when entering then go through a line and pick your main course ( brisket, chicken, etc), or you can order a large pizza for $25. We went with the pizza which was what we thought a good deal compared to paying $22 for the line meal. In conclusion we decided it's best just to bring and cook your own food at the campsite and save money.

Leon M.

Yelp
I got the Cowboy Quesadilla and although it was good and the crunchy onions was a good touch, I have my thoughts. The quality of meat was subpar and the onions slid off the tortilla very easily. My suggestion is to add cheese to the top to make the onions stick or put the onions inside. My wife enjoyed her Smokey Cobb salad although opted out of the ham. Right outside were some Jehovah Witnesses that my wife had some controversial words with, don't mess with her after eating a super food! (kale)

Lynda V.

Yelp
Ate lunch here today. I had eaten the apple kale salad before and it was delicious. Today i added chicken to get some protein- big mistake as it was dry as sawdust. There was hardly any of the maple vinaigrette on it. The rest was fairly decent - I loved the squash added to the salad. I was so tired that it wasn't until I was almost finished that I realized there was no kale. My salad was made with arugula. Lol Service was great though and it's a great day at the canyon.

Yelp
Quality dining options can be challenging to find in national parks so Yavapai Tavern is a hidden gem. Inside Yavapai Lodge, patrons can enjoy a classic full bar featuring Arizona craft beer along with southwestern dining specialties. Seating is outdoors only which can be problematic since it started raining towards the end of our dining experience. I started with the White Cheddar Poblano soup and topped it off with a Gyritto. You may ask what in the world is a Gyritto? It's described on their menu as "Gyro Spiced Vegetable Protein, Tofu Tzatziki, Arugula & Spinach, Pickled Red Onion, Cucumber, Diced Tomatoes, Flour Tortilla." I found both orders appetizing - the poblano was cheesy and the Gyritto was a flavorful and healthier alternative. If you find yourself near the Grand Canyon South Rim, drop into Yavapai for a bite or a pint!

Rox P.

Yelp
Yavapai is owned by a different group than almost all the other dining options in the south rim and their vegan/vegetarian distinction is different which was confusing. At Yavapi V=vegan, whereas everywhere else in the south rim V=vegetarian. Delicious fully vegan torta. Also have vegan tacos. I did not taste it but the vegan Korean crunch salad looked delicious. We also ordered the kids burger but subbed the vegan burger which meant it was only $9.99 vs $16.99. For vegan or plant based eaters this is probably your best option in the park. Also has a nice outdoor eating area.

Jessica B.

Yelp
My fiance and I were starving after our tour and the bus driver recommended Yavapai Tavern at the market plaza in the park. We were told the food is amazing and you won't be disappointed. Well our driver must have either been confused with another restaurant or just has a poor sense of what is considered good food because this place did not meet any of our expectations. I ordered an iced tea with a Brie LT Melt and my fiance got the southwest salad and a side of thai curry soup. Since my sandwich was listed in the burger section I was expecting a patty melt. However my sandwich was literally melted brie and bread with a small bit of tomato and chili bacon jam. The salad was okay but the soup wasn't very tasty. All in all we probably won't be back.

Erika N.

Yelp
Park options are pretty limited and Yavapai was as others have said, just okay. We came in around lunch time and easily found a table outside to sit. I had the Elk Burger with chips. It definitely sounded better than it tasted. The burger was pretty dry and I had to add a ton of ketchup for it to be good. The chips were straight up kettle chips from a bag, I thought at least maybe they'd be homemade. The best part of the meal was the potato salad. I liked the spiciness of it. Your options aren't huge within the park so it is what it is. At least I could enjoy a margarita and the beautiful views.

Jacques I.

Yelp
I gotta say, I don't expect much from a national park, food-wise, that is. There have been plenty of times where we've had to get food from a national park since there's nowhere else to eat at, and it has usually just been A-OK. But Yavapai Tavern proved that national parks can serve good food. My partner and I visited Yavapai Tavern for dinner as we were staying at the lodge nearby. Talk about convenience! We visited on a Tuesday evening and the place was busy, but there were plenty of vacant tables. You order at the counter where they hand you a number for the server to deliver your food to. The tavern serves standard bar food that you'd expect, with meaty burgers, heavy appetizers and snacks, filling sandwiches, etc. They also had beer on tap, and even, a prickly pear margarita on tap, that I of course had to order! My partner and I both ordered a burger and shared the elk chili. The food was very tasty and satisfying! I had the southwest burger, which had a queso cheese, avocado and tortilla strips for some crunch, while my partner had the classic burger with BLT and cheese. Both of our burgers were half-pound and was what we needed after a day of hiking. I had mine with the potato salad, which was also tasty. The elk chili was good. It was lean with beans in a tomato base. I recommend visiting Yavapai Tavern for a meal if you're in the south rim area of the Grand Canyon. It has a casual vibe with a spacious, outdoor patio and dining inside with TVs playing sports. For local spirits and hearty food, you can't go wrong here.

Jay V.

Yelp
I continue to be stumped by the poor quality of food options within our national parks. Yavapai Tavern is no different. Their food options are limited and most beg to be called "food". We tried to limit our frustration by ordering their tacos and chips and salsa with guacamole. The chips were just out of a packet. The guacamole was super cold and brown in color. This was old and oxidized. The salsa was a strange brown liquid which was so watery it soaked and grabbed each chip. Run while you can and avoid entering this strange restaurant.

Lea C.

Yelp
It's kinda a dive bar but we enjoyed it! Several TV's with sports on. We ordered two American burgers - thought that would be easy, one with the Cole slaw and one with chips. The burgers were good- nothing fancy, but they had cheese, lettuce, tomato and a sauce that reminds me of Mickey D's Big Mac sauce so it was good. We both really liked the 'cole slaw'- different but tasty with apples, kale and such and a light dressing. Huge portion and we couldn't eat it all. Both burgers were served with a crispy dill pickle too. We ordered two michelob ultras at $5.75 each for 16 oz so it appears the cost actually went DOWN a quarter. How nice. Bill was $42 for two burgers and two beers. Guy at the register taking orders was just fine and burgers came out within about ten minutes. Nothing to complain about here today.

Art C.

Yelp
A rare treat After a trip on the Red Shuttles here at the Grand Canyon we were ready for lunch. The Blue Shuttle took us back to the village market, where we found Yavapai Lodge Tavern. The main restaurant wasn't open yet, but we could order food at the bar and sit in the main restaurant, which we did. The Melted Elk definitely caught my eye. I don't go out of my way to find exotic meats, but if something appears on a menu I'm looking at, I'd like to try it. It helps to know this is a restaurant within the Grand Canyon and the National Park System, giving me confidence the meat was available for the right reasons. My Melted Elk was pretty good. Served on loaf sized bread, listed on the menu as toasted sourdough, the meat was firmer than a hamburger patty but not at all tough. The sandwich tasted sweet. They included toppings like tomato bacon jam which I think overrode the flavor of the meat itself and caused that sweetness. After eating my sandwich, I can't say I know what Elk tastes like. Still, I'm glad I had an opportunity to give it a try.

Mike M.

Yelp
Food was good. If food were the only metric, 4/5. But alas it is not. Service - well it is counter service, so how well do you serve yourself? Want a napkin? - go get one. The environment was poor. There are 6 4-person high tops, arranged like you would see on a dice. At the bottom is the ordering counter. Then along two of the sides, are people waiting to order their food/drink. Right next to you...... Not a relaxing atmosphere at all. There are 3 other tables off to the side - that is all. The photos online paint a tavern/pub atmosphere - it is not. It is more akin to a small (again 6 hi tops) sandwich shop with beer.

M J.

Yelp
Man does this place suck. I ordered two burgers and tried to get a seltzer. They don't have non-alcoholic cans of seltzer or a soda gun so they directed me to buy a soda from the cafeteria. $37 for two burgers with no flavor. The server couldn't figure out if the food was for our table even though we had the number we had been provided displayed. So of course the answer was to touch our burgers with his bare hands to confirm one burger had cheese and one didn't. Bleh You're better off with a premade sandwich from the general store. Xanterra/ Sysco is just overcharging for crap

Jenni A.

Yelp
Great location and they allow dogs. We went to the Grand Canyon for the weekend with a Corgi Dog. Most locations are inside and don't allow dogs. This restaurant was delicious and great ambiance. The weather was beautiful. I had the chopped salad (vinaigrette with apple, cranberry, pecan and feta). My husband got the cobb salad and we shared the pork nachos.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
It was one of the first places that I ate while in the Grand Canyon area. It was super clean, and the food and service were good. Bar looks like a full service bar (not sure). The free shuttle stops conveniently right outside the facility. It's worth a stop through after a hike or site seeing.

Annie A.

Yelp
We came to yavapi starving after hiking in the Grand Canyon. You order your food at the window and they bring it out to you. We watched several people who came after us get their food first so we waited about 45 minutes (at about 4 pm). We did like the outdoor seating though. The kale apple slaw side was very good, it had a nice vinegary/sour taste, not mayo. The pretzel bun for the pulled pork was stale and the meat was just ok. I did not like the gyritto very much, I think it was too much of the bean mixture, which was very dry.

Kevin C.

Yelp
Food leaves much to be desired. Service as well. Slow, cold pizza and soggy burgers that look like they were microwaved., NO FRIES CHIPs!!!! Service was so slow. We waited for 45 mins before I had to ask the bartender where our food was. She said there was a screw up and our order never got made. Great... Now we had to wait another 15 mins for the aforementioned soggy, cold food. Better to just toast some smores and skip dinner...

Suma J.

Yelp
Nothing like a good burger and margaritas when you're at 7000 elevation, freezing your butt off at the Grand Canyon in late November for your birthday :) Yavapai Tavern was the best place we ate during our stay, and I can say they have improved since I visited last year. There's a decent menu and beer selection, and they have nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. I'm a sucker for a prickly pear margarita, and it hit the spot. I'll try the prickly pear draft next time! Thanks for a great lunch!

Bryant N.

Yelp
Great informal place to grab a bite to eat and something to drink. It can be a little confusing where this place is but it is neatly tucked in back left corner when you get in. I ordered pizza, and got to try prickly pear margarita which I highly recommend. I saw families hanging out here too so don't be put off by the word tavern. The bartender was friendly and it was a nice break after hanging out in the Grand Canyon. Pizza was decent but I really did enjoy the casual environment especially considering I was wearing outdoor clothes.

Cindy R.

Yelp
It's nice when one of the only restaurants inside a popular tourist area has food that is actually decent with comfortable seating. We were here with my mom and sister and grabbed a bite to eat after the visitor's center (which has no restaurant only grab and go sandwiches at the bike rental). Highlights: Chef salad: in my opinion this is the thing to get. piled high with perfectly dressed greens with tomatoes, chopped egg, chopped ham, cheese, a small scoop of guacamole, and tortilla strips. The only drawback was the ham was not super plentiful. Quit Swinin'- Pulled pork sandwich: Nice portion size and the pretzel bun was a nice touch. Really good flavor but way too salty. Nice side of potato salad. Gyritto - veggie based gyro spiced wrap. Ok in a pinch if you're vegetarian but wasn't my fave. Love the patio outside setting and they looked to have a really nice beer selection. Definitely recommend!

Ann C.

Yelp
It was the best elk burger my husband ever had. I liked my grilled chicken burger also. However, I wish the side was not as spicy. The beer was great with many selections.

Hans G.

Yelp
Love this place too to bottom. People were very friendly. Food was by far some of the best and easiest near the GC. Did a solo trip so it was just me but would recommend this place for good food and craft beer lunch or an early dinner. Beautiful patio outside with a fire. Awesome a place like this exists in such a remote part, where you're limited to food options.

Van D.

Yelp
Hard to beat this place for outdoor casual dining close to the south rim -- the food was good and the setting among the pines was lovely (felt a little guilty watching an elk walk by as we were waiting on an elk-melt sandwich though). Nice selection us veg types too, with bean-protein nachos and plant-based burger options. Excellent place to refuel after hiking or biking!

Dale C.

Yelp
A hidden gem in a sea of mediocrity, this nice casual late night spot was a very pleasant surprise! We usually eat late, but we're not expecting good places to be open late especially in the area. They have indoor and outdoor seating, with heat lamps and a fire pit outside. We ordered vegetarian protein nachos, elk burger, and a salad. All were hits! Elk was not gamey, honestly it tasted just like beef. They have a decent beer selection as well. We tried the cream soda and that was also very good! Definitely recommend!

Trung N.

Yelp
SO, who knew the Grand Canyon was set up so much like Disneyland - all resorts in the park are basically related to each other and depending on your budget and how on it you are with reservations, lodging is limited. We were late to the game and settled on Yavapai Lodge. By any means, it's up to date and very comfortable, however, the dining situation here is very limited so keep that in mind if you lodge here. It's a fast casual situation here - you order at the bar and receive your food by number at your table. Given no other choices, we had dinner here twice and it wasn't bad at all. We ordered the following: -southwest salad: heritage greens, roasted corn + peppers, black beans, cilantro, pickled onion, cojita cheese, tortilla strips, honey lime vinaigrette ($13.75) -canyon pulled beef with potato salad: beef barbacoa, grilled peppers + onions, melted pepper jack cheese, crunchy radish slaw on a jumbo sweet roll ($14.00) -jalapeno cheddar turkey wrap: turkey, roasted tomatoes, greens, shredded Jack cheese, jalapeno mayo on a cheddar tortilla with super slaw ($14.00) -kid's quesadilla ($6.25) We also had a pizza and another salad that were also very good. To be honest, it could have been worse - you are at the mercy of the park. Everything was super affordable and comparable to something you'd get at a theme park. Don't be deterred by the line - it moves pretty quickly. Pro tip: you can dine indoors if you're comfortable.

Elyse F.

Yelp
Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Portions were generous. I was excited to see elk on the menu. Elk was tougher than I have had before. (So were the other burgers.) Flavor was heavily smokey. We ordered the sandwiches without the bacon jam. Not sure if that would have balanced out the flavors. Kale and apple salad was crisp. Salad was well balanced. Addition of radishes was an interesting touch. I enjoyed that the salad wasn't heavily dressed. Kale and apple salad was probably my favorite part of the meal. Chips and potatoe salad were fairly standard. This is another point in the canyon with long waits. The line to order the food was 30 minutes long. From there, it was another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The couple who were at the tables before us were still waiting for their food 15 minutes after our food was received. At that point, they went inside, and we did not see them again. We were hoping to eat, then see the sun set over the canyon. We weren't even close to making it. The guy bussing tables outside was absolutely amazing. Not only did he buss the tables, he also checked on people, brought people boxes, and helped anyway he could. All the while with an upbeat attitude.

Candace T.

Yelp
We had the elk burger. The flavor was excellent! Served on a sour dough bread that was perfectly toasted. Came out hot! Served quickly. We st outside in the sun. Around 3pm. They started a fire in their big fire pit which was a nice touch. They also have outside heaters. Everyone was friendly from ordering at their counter to the guy who delivered the food. They have lots of beer options for those who are looking for drinks. The corn chowder was hearty and seemed homemade. Excellent flavor!

Peggy G.

Yelp
The food is great, and the patio is awesome as it has heaters and fire tables with seats at them. We had live music outside which was great. The line to get food was long but it was just after sunset so it was very busy. We didn't have to wait too long for our food. Staff was all very friendly.

Howard H.

Yelp
Out of five or six places we ate at in the Grand Canyon, Yavapai Tavern was by far the best. Full disclosure. I'm comparing this place to all the other Grand Canyon restaurants I ate at, so I'm grading on a slight curve. The Elk melt was delicious. The sourdough bread with pepper spread perfectly complimented the elk burger patty. Also, it's hard to find decent salads in the park. Here, we tried the Cobb salad and it was delicious. We also had the elk chili which was meaty, spicy and hearty. The tortilla strips gave it a nice crunch texture. If you have kids, the grilled cheese sandwich was standard fare but better than average. The kids demolished it. Service-wise, you order at the bar counter and then find your own seating. Lastly, the ambiance had a modern cabin feel. After all, you're inside of a hotel. You can't really beat having a meal inside of the Grand Canyon.

Joe H.

Yelp
This establishment got our order wrong, and Michelle, the manager, has an uncanny knack of making a simple mistake into an absolutely miserable dining experience... Way to go, Michelle!

James K.

Yelp
My family was so happy here with food and atmosphere and first snow this year. excellent food with reasonable price.

Christine H.

Yelp
Yavapai Tavern is one of the main dining options for Yavapai Lodge. When you enter, you are instructed to find your own table (limited tables indoors, but a large outdoor patio), grab a menu, then wait in line to place your order. Your food is later brought out by an employee. We had no issue finding a table and while the evenings get chilly, there were a number of heat lamps and large outdoor fire going. Food is pretty average, but we found the staff to be friendly and enjoyed the setting overall.

Cynthia T.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I split the nachos, a salad, and a pizza. Surprisingly, it was more than enough to fill us up. The food's nothing to write home about--just your average, cheap eats--but it gets the job done. What really stood out was the service from the older gentleman at the front. He was super pleasant, helped us find a seat, and even guided us through the ordering process. He set us up with sharing plates and pointed us to where we could grab condiments and water. All in all, an enjoyable experience thanks to him.

Yelp
Great vibe to this spot! We ate a late lunch on the patio next to the fire pit. Typical bar food with a wildlife flair. I had the "Elk Melt" and it was delicious! The service was a bit slow but who's in a hurry up here?! 3-stars for the food. 4-stars for the serine experience.

Yelp
Stopped in for a margarita. The talked us into what she said was the most popular one, just $1 more. We were shocked that she went to a tap to pour it and at the price. We've never heard of a margarita on tap. Didn't taste like one at all. Fizzy and way too sweet. The patio was nice and the pine trees, yet the worst margarita we've ever had. We tried another place in Williams, Arizona the next day and it was the 2nd worst margarita. I guess it wasn't our week for that delicious tequila-lime concoction we love so much on a warm day in the SW.

Yelp
We enjoyed eating here after watching the sunset at Mather point... it is the first stop after getting on the blue shuttle from the visitors center. I heard they have good pizza, but we had the nachos with pork, and the portion size was very large! It was enough for two people to share. There are only 6-ish tables in the Tavern but several outside and also several in the attached dining hall. My husband had the Elk Chili and said it was tasty (he is not easily impressed).
