SO, who knew the Grand Canyon was set up so much like Disneyland - all resorts in the park are basically related to each other and depending on your budget and how on it you are with reservations, lodging is limited.
We were late to the game and settled on Yavapai Lodge. By any means, it's up to date and very comfortable, however, the dining situation here is very limited so keep that in mind if you lodge here.
It's a fast casual situation here - you order at the bar and receive your food by number at your table.
Given no other choices, we had dinner here twice and it wasn't bad at all. We ordered the following:
-southwest salad: heritage greens, roasted corn + peppers, black beans, cilantro, pickled onion, cojita cheese, tortilla strips, honey lime vinaigrette ($13.75)
-canyon pulled beef with potato salad: beef barbacoa, grilled peppers + onions, melted pepper jack cheese, crunchy radish slaw on a jumbo sweet roll ($14.00)
-jalapeno cheddar turkey wrap: turkey, roasted tomatoes, greens, shredded Jack cheese, jalapeno mayo on a cheddar tortilla with super slaw ($14.00)
-kid's quesadilla ($6.25)
We also had a pizza and another salad that were also very good. To be honest, it could have been worse - you are at the mercy of the park. Everything was super affordable and comparable to something you'd get at a theme park.
Don't be deterred by the line - it moves pretty quickly. Pro tip: you can dine indoors if you're comfortable.
