Look for a New Sonoratown Burrito and a $32 Wagyu Bowl at 2022’s Family Style Fest - Eater LA

The 12 Best Japanese Barbecue Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"With big plush booths and meat quality to die for, Yazawa elevates the yakiniku experience to previously exclusive heights. Believe them when they say they fly their beef in from Japan because the marble passes the eye test. And put faith in them when they slosh the meats in an egg mixture and grill them to a barely-cooked pink to help you truly appreciate the mellow, fatty flavor of true Japanese Wagyu. There might not be a better yakiniku experience in Los Angeles (and that includes the exclusive invite-only Totoraku in West LA). Note: Famed and notoriously exclusive yakiniku restaurant Totoraku was not included because it’s available to diners on an invite-only basis." - Euno Lee

One of the finest Japanese BBQ experiences I’ve ever had. The quality of the wagyu is simply exceptional, and everything is prepared with precision and care. If you’re a meat lover visiting Vegas, Yazawa is a must!

We were visiting from out of state and were so excited to try the omakase wagyu!! We made reservations at 5 and were the first people in the restaurant on a Saturday so we were served pretty quick. The service and the quality of meat was absolutely incredible! I was satisfied with every bite of meat I had :) Our server graciously cooked our meat for us as we would have burned it lol, but he always put on a good show every time. SOO much meat was served for us only ordering the cheapest omakase option. (still quite expensive but definitely worth it!) We're so happy with our first time visit, I'm looking forward to returning when I'm back in LA!!

Always wanted to try Yazawa wagyu since forever... Finally decided to get it for our 12th anniversary and birthdays dinner. We got the A5 Wagyu Assorted Bento (added Tongue & Harami), Kalbi Bento, Garlic rice, Udon, OX Tail soup and salad, total come up to be $197. It is quite expensive, especially when the portions are not that big. The wagyu are superb, grilled to perfection. It doesn't really melt in your mouth, however, the taste is really delicious. The only regret I have would be the ox tail soup and salad. The soup is bland and hardly any meat, it is definitely a rip off. The salad is great, but for $13, i think it is a little too much. Will I dine there again? Probably for special occasions only.

Google
Very expensive, but you are getting what you are paying for. It's definitely not a meal you would do frequently, but for those times you feel like treating yourself this place has got to be up there. The staff is so nice and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. I went to Tokyo 5 years ago, and from what I remember this place matches what you'd expect from a high end Japanese BBQ over there. I look forward to coming back.

Google
PROS: - Excellent service (our server was pleasant and grilled all of our meat) - Excellent food (wagyu was fresh and juicy, grilled vegetables were perfectly cooked and sweet) - Overall ambiance of the restaurant was great CONS: - The entrance (door) to this restaurant is a bit hard to find - The omakases do not come with rice, vegetables, or desserts. It is primarily only meat Would I come here again? YES

Google
It was our first experience, meat was amazing melt in your mouth A5 wagyu. Our waiter Mathew was excellent as well, guided us through the menu and selections, as it was our first time. We'll be back again, but next time we need an inside table, the outside dining was loud, busy street.

Google
The service is absolutely nice. I’d firstly recommend the beef tongue, crunchy but soft, very top. Secondly, the Yazawa Special Rice. It smells and tastes perfect, can eat it with soup and wasabi. The whole ‘rice & noodle’ list looks tasty, too. I’d not order the chef’s selection next time. They are all too rich for me. I don’t feel well after eating too oily. Two of the appetizer is raw and very salty. And I don’t like the egg yolk ‘bubble’ sauce of Yazawa-Yaki. IMA has the better egg yolk dipping sauce. However, drinks and tea are excellent.

Google
Worst experience in the history of a restaurant for me. I came in on March 27th and ordered a main course rib eye steak, and he comes back and says - we don’t have it and then another one he says no we don’t have that either, - I said what’d you recommend then, - he said, the ribs are really good, - I said fine, I’ll do the ribs then The “ribs”, what comes it’s 4 tiny super super thin slices of meat that makes a total of less then two bites of a steak. He knew I was talking about a main course and he gave me an appetizer! Plus the veggies and rice came in when we were about to leave. Horrible I can’t say it enough how unprofessional and bad this was. It’s they hate the owner of the restaurant, poor dude he doesn’t know who’s representing his business. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY.

Yelp
Skirt steak and garlic rice are great Tongue is chewy and kalbi/short rib is too fatty for my liking Overall amazing place

Yelp
For my birthday dinner, my husband and I opted for the beef omakase experience and let me say, the quality of their beef is out of this world. Food Among the trio of appetizers in the omakase, the beef sashimi was my favorite, closely followed by the incredible beef tongue. But let's not forget their wagyu - often, wagyu can feel excessively fatty, but their signature sauce (especially the egg sauce) made each bite enjoyable without overwhelming grease. Service Our server, regrettably I forgot his name... but his exceptional warmth and humor made our dinner incredibly comfortable. Ambiance The restaurant was smaller than I expected, but its high ceilings creates an open yet cozy ambiance. It was an intimate space that added to the overall charm of the evening. If you're after top-tier beef and an inviting atmosphere, this place definitely hits the mark.

Yelp
Fantastic! Had many opportunities to eat at the best BBQ restaurants ( American, Korean & Japanese) but this blew me away. Quality of the meat and the service from Ryan was impeccable! Will be back for sure.

Yelp
Hands down the best Japanese BBQ restaurant we have been to in the U.S. My wife is Japanese and she was crazing some wagyu yakiniku so I took her to Yazawa to celebrate her birthday. We were both in heaven as every cut and every dish was delicious. Everything melted in our mouths and was so so tasty. Definitely the best A5 Miyazaki wagyu we have had in the U.S. I heard from the waiter that Yazawa started as a meat importer of wagyu first and then opened their restaurant later. Since they have the very best connections to the wagyu farms in the Japan, they're able to get the best cuts for a fairly reasonable price. We went for a set course and all of it together, including drinks and tip came to around $690. Service, food and the entire experience was perfect. We wish we could have gone back again the next day lol. It's definitely a great restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. Lastly our waiter was awesome! Super helpful, friendly and accommodating. He spoke to us in perfect Japanese and English and made our meal that much more enjoyable. Will 100% be back to try another course meal!!

Yelp
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday, and it was absolutely delicious! We got the $140 omakase, and it was incredible. Each dish comes out with a creative presentation, and it was entertaining to listen to our waiter explain each dish/ cut of meat. Service was incredible. They were so attentive. It was also my first time having beef tartare, and I thought I was going to not like it since I mostly like my meats on the well-done side, but it actually was delicious and tasted similar to tuna sashimi. We added the wagyu garlic fried rice as an appetizer. It was a large portion enough to share for 2 people, so I recommend splitting it. There was the option to add a "Happy Birthday" dessert, which I think was an extra $25? The ice cream and cheesecake that it came with was not overly sweet, and a great way to end our meal. It was definitely a memorable experience. We would return sooner if it wasn't so expensive! Strongly recommend, especially for a birthday or special occasion.

Yelp
We dined at Yazawa for my husband's bday and it did not disappoint. The entire experience left us reminiscing about our very first international trip together as boyfriend/girlfriend! We were lucky enough to travel to Japan and got to try authentic Japanese bbq there. Yazawa transported us back to Tokyo and we highly recommend anyone who wants a top class experience to come by. Service from start to finish was excellent. Servers were dynamic and friendly, explaining each meat cut and how to properly cook it. We had the confidence to cook our own meat after being shown a few times. We went with the classic omakase with the notion that we'd add more a la carte items if hungry. It turned out to be the perfect amount of meat. We also added the amazing garlic rice, house pickles, and salad. We want to come back to try the kimchi! My husband's favorite meat was the sukiyaki style with the frothy egg. It was sweet, juicy, and very unique. I couldn't tell you which I loved the most tbh. Everything was a home run and I was stuffed by the end. Ambiance is dim and cozy. Pro-tip there are bidets in the restrooms :') extra points for that! After 2 rounds of drinks plus everything we ordered, our total with tip was $500. My husband loved his experience and would absolutely come back. We'll see you again soon Yazawa!

Yelp
Yazawa Japanese BBQ is definitely my favorite Japanese BBQ that I've ever been to. A reservation is 100% recommended as this place is always crowded during peak times. The parking is relatively easy since they have street and a park lot right across the street. The customer service was outstanding as they seat you very quickly, are very outgoing, and help you cook to make sure the meat is properly prepared before consumption. We decided to go with the one of their Omakase's which was amazing! The variety of high quality meats you get to try can't be beat. The ambiance inside of the restaurant is very high class but at the same time makes you feel in a homey environment. Can be very pricey but I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner celebration and also knowing you will get your money worth. We will definitely be back here soon!

Yelp
This place blew my mind for how tasty wagyu beef can be. It's about $200 per person but definitely worth the price. The meat were so tender and yet you can still tell the subtle differences between different parts and marinates. Highly recommend the omakase which saves a lot of trouble for those who don't understand different parts of beef very much. Service was very fast and professional. The restaurant is a bit small so recommend booking in advance.

Yelp
I will preface with the fact that I am a huge yakiniku lover. You'll find me frequenting Anjin, Tsuruhashi, and Manpuku. YAZAWA blew me out of the water. It's not cheap, but when you're getting this level of service and food, it's a-okay to be an epicure at times. I'm no stranger to YAZAWA's portfolio, I've had amazing times at their sukiyaki restaurant right next door, IMA. And just like with IMA, YAZAWA has access to unparalleled beef options. I would highly recommend going with any of the chef's Omakase options as it really gives you the experience that YAZAWA is attempting to curate. Surprisingly, it's good amount of food as well. From appetizers to the meat courses, each dish had a thoughtfulness in its preparation and flavor profiles. You can tell the meat is high quality wagyu (Japanese, not Australian). With Omakase, the offerings for their meat changes often. The service was incredible too, they carry the same level of "omotenashi" found in Japan. The staff was very attentive to our every need. I will say there isn't much parking in front for both YAZAWA or IMA but that's most of Beverly Hills. There is a small parking structure behind the restaurant. When I want to have yakiniku (which is usually more often than not) and I'm willing to splurge, I will definitely be going to YAZAWA.

Yelp
My absolute favorite spot in LA. The decor and interior is very classy. I've been here numerous times and they've never failed to impress. From the presentation of the various cuts of meats, to the the explanation of where they came from, there is never a dull moment when seated. I've gotten the Omakase multiple times and they've changed the cuts of meats and providing me with a fresh experience every time. It's an utter delight. The Omakase while rich in experience can sometimes lack a fulfilling property so I tend to accompany it with Wagyu Garlic Fried Rice and it adds the perfect touch.

Yelp
One of the best Japanese BBQ experiences I've had in LA. Everything I tried was incredible and memorable. The standouts were the wagyu cuts, each of them with perfect marbling, thinly sliced, & perfectly seasoned. We did the double portions of zabuton, rib-shin, & ichibo. Honestly it's hard to choose which was my favorite but I'm going to go with the zabuton. We also had the beef tongue, oxtail soup, jidori chicken, & kalbi short rib, which were all excellent. The Wagyu "Toro" sashimi was kind of mind blowing because it tasted so similar to actual tuna toro, but was wagyu. This was the first time I've tried raw meat that wasn't a carpaccio. We finished the meal off with a complimentary hot tea & lychee ice cream. It was quite nice because they had little pieces of the fruit in there & cleansed my palette with something light & fresh. The service was pretty good overall & the waiter was very informative anytime I had questions. It's a small restaurant but very nicely styled decor & gives you a quaint, personal experience without loud music or guests. This is a good spot for a date or birthday.

Yelp
Chef's Omakase - $216 o def not an everyday typa meal but v good w quality wagyu cuts! the meat def melts in ur mouth but if u don't pace it right it might honestly be a bit much bc especially the yazawa yaki is v fatty HAHA for me at least! the fillet is good, but the signature omakase for $40 less is already enough tbh. the main reason 1 point is docked off is bc i thought the garlic rice couldve had more flavor, even tho its supposed to complement the meat but everything else was already good! 3 kinds of wagyu appetizer - rly good start, portion size good tongue & harami - i like! ask if its better w the sukiyaki or clear ponzu sauce yazawa-yaki - a lot of ppl like this one best! i thought it was a bit on the bitter side when dipped in the sauce but its still rly good garlic rice - im ngl idk what yall are on ini b bgt like i wouldve added soy sauce but if u eat it tgr with the meat its good i guess 4 kinds of yazawa wagyu - from shoulder (my fav cut of the night i think), round, etc it was rly good overall! fillet - rly good, but idk if its worth the extra $40 - good to try tho! tea at the end to cleanse palette - knp mrk cmn ngasih teh setengah cangkir oml its p good tho

Yelp
Yazawa is the best yakiniku experience that I've tried. It makes sense considering the hefty price tag of the place. Not only is the food top notch, but the service is impeccable too. You get multiple courses of different variations in how they prepare the meat. Everything just melts in your mouth. I absolutely loved the egg dipping sauce.

Yelp
If you like Japanese style BBQ, you will love this place. There are 3 different kind of Omakase from basic to premium. This was my first time and we selected the basic Omakase. We added a few items such as the long beef tongue, waygu fried rice, and the chateau briand. Washed it down with a couple of bottles of Sake. Service was impress and so were the cuts of meat. Highly recommended this place.

Monyka L.

Yelp
Food: - Very delicious! We got the omakase, and it was so good. Even the grilled vegetables were sweet and juicy! Service: - Excellent service! Our server was funny and very knowledgeable about the food items on the menu. Ambiance: - The restaurant had excellent, warm-colored lighting. Very clean restaurant. Only con was that the omakase does not come with desserts or side dishes such as rice, vegetables, or kimchi.

Yelp
Great ambience, nice customer service. The food are great and they help you to grill ur meat. Love the YAZAWA YaKi with the dipping sauce. Totally worth the money.

Yelp
Great place! Really loved the atmosphere and our server was really sweet. The Japanese cuts were so soft and amazing. The sauces that were recommended to pair with each cut were good. Rice was nice! Really high quality restaurant! Will be back for sure!

Yelp
I treat myself here once a year and it's always worth it every time and usually call to make a reservation. You can make a reservation on OpenTable as well. Service: The service is so nice! They're consistently on point and so efficient. The waiter grills your meat for you and does it so gracefully too haha. It's like an art. They describe what you're having in the omakase and really know their stuff. 10/10 True fine dining. Parking: Street metered parking or parking in a small lot nearby. If you come after 8, the lot should be free. Food: We got the most expensive omakase (3rd tier) and near the end of it, it was surprisingly too fatty/decadent for me. I needed a break from the fatty marbled (goodness). But every single dish was eyerolling good. My favorite was the thin wagyu "sukiyaki" Drinks: The snow beer was my favorite drink, they serve a range of alcohol, sakes, Japanese beers, wines, you name it. I'm not going to describe each dish because it's just something you have to experience. All you need to know is that it's worth it.

Yelp
Everything from the food to the service and parking gets a five stars in my book! FOOD: we ordered the Yazawa Omakase ($180 per person) which includes: - wagyu appetizers (tartar w/ uni, braised beef tongue, wagyu toast) - 2 Kind of YAZAWA Beef - YAZAWA YAKI - 4 Kinds of YAZAWA Beef - Filet Mignon (Keep in mind the cuts changes depending on what they have) We also ordered assorted kimchi and some nigori to sip on SERVICE: our server name was Justin. He was very attentive. He made our first time experience so easy. He was very knowledgeable in all the cuts of meats, the sauces to use and the cook time of each meats. AMBIANCE: very nice Japanese decor, parking is limited. There's a parking garage across the street. Or if you prefer closer parking there's meter available.
google avatar

Yelp
Omakase menu with the meat is great The wagyu was so buttery and as the course went on just got more and more buttery. The sole focus is meat so great for meat lovers.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
First of all, the entrance is the hole in the wall looking wooden door, not the glass door next door where their shabu shabu/sukiyaki restaurant is. I want to try that one next though. The difference between the 3 omakase menu is the more expensive 2 are all A5 wagyu with the most expensive one having better cuts. It's more or less the same amount of meat. The cheapest one at $120 has a few cuts replaced by American wagyu. We went with the cheapest option since a5 is really fatty and I didn't think I could finish like 5 courses of a5 wagyu. I was right, I couldn't even finish the $120 option, it was so fatty but so delicious. The omakase comes with appetizers and meats only. We opted to share a garlic fried rice and it was so delicious and flavorful! The star was the very think but big piece of a5 with the egg dipping sauce. So so so so good. I had to finish that dish. Our server grilled everything for us and was super nice. Although I did see some people grill on their own when I went to the restroom at the end of our meal. I didn't know you could and felt bad the server grilled everything for us. We would definitely come back if we want wagyu. I think it's pretty reasonably priced considering the meal we experienced. Street parking or there's a garage right across that's 2 hrs free if you enter before 6pm. Then they charge by each 30mins.

Yelp
This has to be one of my top restaurants now. We enjoyed our meal so much and loved everything we got. We did the omakase and the quality of the meats is something you will taste. Great service as well. The servers were very attentive and will cook your meats as recommended. Nice intimate setting but still has the ambiance for a fun group dinner. I look forward to coming back.

Yelp
Expensive Japanese BBQ, but service and quality of meat was top notch! You can order your meat a-la carte, but I hate choosing so I decided to go with the Omakase. Their Omakase starts at $100pp. I got the Yazawa Omakase for the evening and that runs $180pp. The Yazawa Omakase included Wagyu appetizer, Yazawa Yaki and 6 different kinds of Yazawa Beef. You don't get a lot of meat, but the quality of meat is exceptional. Server would take the time to introduce you to the meat being served and gave us grilling instructions. Serving size was relatively small, but I was thankful that I got garlic rice to go with my meal. Loved this place, but can't be spending my paycheck here every week. This would be a great place to celebrate a special occasion such as birthday or anniversary. Bookmarked and will definitely be revisiting again in the near future.

Yelp
Yazawa is soooo good! My boyfriend loves it as well. I only wish it was closer to us then we would come by more often. Service is usually good too but they can get busy sometimes.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friend's bday. Hands down the best Japanese bbq I've had in LA! They have 3 sets of Omakase pricing starts form $120, $180 and $200. We got the $180 omakase as it was so good! The meat quality is insane, every piece just melts in your mouth. We also ordered some appetizers, veggies and garlic fried rice. Their 5 kinds mushroom and garlic fried rice are bomb as well! Service is very good and they cook for you. I can't wait to come back again for more wagyu!
google avatar

Yelp
Great customer service, nice ambiance!! Food quality is great!! The server have a very great presentation during our dinner! We order a lot of food for party of 2 . 1 alacarte order maybe around 2-4 oz / plates/3-4 slices if you are a big eater this might not the right place for you! but if you are looking for quality then you should try it out!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
The food was delicious, no complaints there. The service was good, but the server seemed a little forgetful; we had to remind him about a couple of items. Now, I'm not sure whether it's related to the food. This is my second time back, and both times I ordered the same menu with hot sake. Unfortunately, both times I went back home feeling unwell, experiencing vomiting and a bad stomachache. I should preface this by saying that the other parties I was with are fine, so I'm uncertain about the cause.

Chloe T.

Yelp
My most recent was extra special thanks to JUSTIN! Awesome service and one of my more memorable visits. Thank you!! I appreciate good service, especially for $1700/5 ppl. Really welcoming and made it worth it. On the other hand my party is not fond of the Asian lady. She always seats us at a super small table, and when we request to be moved to a bigger table, she doesn't seem very happy about it. She's very non-responsive to questions & "thank yous"..

Yelp
Need a date night? Looking for a spot to celebrate special occasions? Need to fulfill that cravings for delicious meats? Well, Yazawa is all that and more. Now my hubby & I are huge meat eaters and we love Japanese BBQ!! I knew with Father's Day around the corner I made reservations here for 4 on OpenTable. We got the signature omakase $100 pp and got a ox tail soup for my kiddos which they enjoyed very much. The server Johnathon was super awesome he even split it in half for the kids to eat. And our server was super nice, friendly, and real! After we placed our order he told us to wait to see if wanted more after we ate in case we over ordered. We really appreciated him for his honesty and great service. If you love Japanese bbq, if you love good meats, if you care about quality vs quantity then this is the spot for you to go to! I definitely would recommend trying/checking out Yazawa. They allow kids at the restaurant (my kiddos are 3 & 5) so I am really appreciative that they didn't give us a hard time for having the kids here. I would definitely come back to Yazawa and they get 2 thumbs up from me. Tips: *street metered parking *paid parking lot just around the corner *they grill the meats for you *reservations accepted on OpenTable *serves alcohol *They have kid water cups. *Restroom available for customers

Yelp
I don't think I have the words to describe how amazing this experience was for us. We had a reservation for 4 at 8pm on a Saturday night. It was still fairly occupied at the hour. It's pretty dim in the restaurant which gives it intimate date night vibes. We originally planned on two of us ordering omakase and the other two ordering other food items to share; however, their policy is if one person orders omakase, everyone at the table has to as well. Given it was my sister's birthday, we all opted for the standard omakase and honestly have no regrets. We started off with the 3 plated appetizer. I really enjoyed the wagyu on the crostini. It was so fresh and the buttery softness of the wagyu on top of the crispy crostini ahhh perfection. Another highlight of the set was the whipped egg yolk complimented by a sweet yaki wagyu. The flavors were exploding in my mouth!! For the price of the omakase, I think it is well worth it because you get to try a good amount of quality meat. I would choose this over AYCE KBBQ any day. You're paying for the experience, service, and amazing quality meat. We also paired our omakase with two different types of sake which complimented the meal well. This was my first omakase of any sort as I didn't know there was for Japanese Wagyu and I don't really eat raw fish but now after trying Yazawa I find myself craving Japanese wagyu omakase. Bad for my wallet but good for my tastebuds :)
google avatar

Mian S.

Yelp
Probably the highest quality meat you can find in LA. Good wine selection too! The best thing there is this sukiyaki kinda style grilled thing layer of Wagyu and it's called yazawa-yaki. You dip in the egg when you eat it. So good!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious! Love the omakase for dine-in and bentos to go. Yummy a la carte goodness: Tar tar on crispy rice - tastes like spicy tuna on crispy rice but it's better because it's beef Wagyu sushi Kimchi assortment Green salad - might be too plain for some people but I really like it! Mushrooms Garlic rice - very rich

Yelp
This is definitely the spot to go for any type of celebration (but I don't think it's meant for big parties). Yazawa is more for an intimate birthday dinner, work celebration, or maybe even an anniversary for a party of 2-4. We decided to come here for my birthday. I wanted to compare it to Yakiya in Rowland Heights, which we had gone to for my husband's birthday. They both have the same concept of wagyu omakase, but with some different elements. FOOD: We decided to order the assorted kimchi (as a palate cleanser) and oxtail soup as a starter. We decided to opt out of ordering rice since we wanted to enjoy and revel in every bite. The Chef's Omakase for $180 pp is what we decided to go with for our omakase selection. We started with a wagyu tartare, Out of all the selections, we would have to say our favorite cuts are the ribshin (ribeye), misuji (brisket), zabuton (chuck), and chateaubriand - or maybe it was the filet. EVERY COURSE DID NOT DISAPPOINT AT ALL! It is definitely worth the experience and every penny. Probably one of the most memorable dinners for our tastes buds, for sure! Both Yakiya and Yazawa are all stars. They're both amazing in their own ways. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone! AMBIANCE: Very dim lit and inimate. You have the option of your server to cook for you or to cook for yourself. My husband decided to have our server cook for us in fear he'd overcook the thin slices of delicate goodness. Jonathan was such a sweetheart. He was great! Definitely went the extra mile in making my cocktail for me. Super sweet and made us laugh. Jonathan and the other server (didn't catch his name) even sang me "Happy Birthday." Loved the energy here! LOCATION: Located on a busy street in Beverly Hills next to a lot of shopping areas, salons, and such. We found parking in the parking structure across the street. Parking was free for 2 hours.

Yelp
The wagyu Tartare is wonderful! The garlic wagyu rice is also recommended. Beef tongue is a little bit thick.

Yelp
One of my favorite Japanese BBQ places in LA. We got the base set meal, which comes with a trio of appetizers and meats. We ordered a side of the garlic rice (highly recommend). The waiter was busy so we grilled the meats ourselves, which meant some of the meat ended up over cooked or undercooked. However, service has always been great here in my experience. The meat is always fresh and well seasoned. However, I always recommend getting additional sides/salad/rice as the food is very heavily and oily. Parking is easy with street parking and public parking lots.

Yelp
celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here & it was an amazing experience. we loved both the food and the service provided by ryan & matt!! we enjoyed hearing about the story behind yazawa and it definitely allowed us to savor the food even more. everything was delicious but the garlic wagyu pot rice (which i sadly didnt get a picture of) holds a special place in my heart. this place is definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I bookmarked this place after hearing about it from a friend. I really want to like it since me and the hubby are all about bbq and beef...but I'll have to say the food did not tickle my taste buds. For the same price there's tons of other places like Yakiya and Anjin that tastes better imo. You're basically paying for the service. Our waiter was really great and attentive. However the meat was average. It's one of those places I go to say been there, tried it. Don't think I'll be going back.

Yelp
This place is worth every penny. My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary and we each got the Yazawa Omakase. The meat is amazing and literally melts in your mouth!! Would recommend to everyone. Also would highly recommend that you order sake. They let you pick out your sake glasses from a really cool collection!

Yelp
Amazing omakase experience! They just need a spicy chili sauce and a chocolate dessert and it would be a perfect experience!

Yelp
WOW... Incredible experience. Splurge and go all the way with the Yazawa omakase for $180/person for the ultra premium A5 cuts of Japanese Wagyu.. which includes 5th & Final Course of Yazawa Omakase - A5 Wagyu Chateaubriand! AHHH MA ZING.. You can add separate items to your omakase, & pay an additional up charge for uni accoutrement, but I personally don't like uni that much.. I want to try their toro sashimi & wagyu fried rice next time. Excellent wine list. We enjoyed the bottle of Grand Bordeaux - Clementin de Pape Clement with its currant dark chocolate notes, silky smooth finish. Service was incredible with our comfortable booth inside the restaurant. They also offer exterior sidewalk dining from pandemic. Keep in mind there is the 90+ min limit with the next rsvp. We were there for probably 2 hours, yikes!! Next LEVEL A5 Wagyu dining!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. The cuts of meat were spectacular to look at and even better to eat, service is very on point for a restaurant of this price point, and the ambiance was very appropriate for the food being served (dimmed lighting, luxurious booths, and yet, still a very relaxed atmosphere). I had the signature coursed meal and walked away feeling very satisfied (and full). Highly recommend!

Yelp
From the fattest wagyu to the leanest...it was all mouth watering! The service was excellent, well paced, and the vibe was chill. Must try the wagyu fried rice! Let's not forget the whiskey variety.

Yelp
Took my stepdad to this place on his birthday and it was the best choice I made! This was back in February so I'm not sure if they have in door dining now. Outdoor dining experience was okay as we were literally seated in front of some post office which was right next to the restaurant. No complaints though as they were quite booked. I got us the Chef's Omakse which included wagyu appetizer (also tartare with uni and caviar, seriously so good especially with the uni on top of tartare and the wagyu with potato roast beef was cooked perfectly), beef tongue, harami skirt (US cuts), yazawa yaki (omg the beef into the egg sauce was just phenomenal) 4 kinds of Yazawa beef (I asked the waitress to cook us the meats in the kitchen as we weren't sure the best way to cook the meats and we didn't want to over cook them on the grill. They came out perfect every time), and filet. I also ordered the garlic wagyu rice, which was super good with the garlic chips and the quality of beef tartare was amazing, can definitely hear the cow moo with every bite LOL. We also got a bottle of Japanese plum wine to share, it was really good. Overall great experience and would come back again.

Yelp
Took my twin brother's for their 30th birthday. They're pretty serious meat-eaters so I thought it would be special for them. Probably the best meat dinner of my life if not in the top 2 (I once went to a similar place in New York). We got the best omakase dinner they offer. Start to finish everything food wise was exceptional, but the service was very impressie. its a fine-dining experience where they prepare everything and you just chill and have delicious eats. Enjoy for a special occasion.

Yelp
They are famous for the A5 Japanese Wagyu Beef. Their A5 is not frozen, really good, very fresh. The sad thing is that due to US Customs and regulation reasons, they don't have A5 beef tongue and harami. But the US ones are also good enough. The oxtail soup and the special rice are really good too, great compliments with the A5 course. Here is my advice for someone who thinks A5 is too fatty, try their shabu shabu store called IMA, which is right next to yazawa.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants. Best Japanese bbq I've ever had. The meat is so tender and delicious. Order the kale salad and fried rice as well! Ox tail soup also delicious.

Yelp
