Where to Eat Greek Food in Philadelphia - Eater Philly

"For a quick and delicious Greek meal, Yia fits the bill. This fast-casual spot in Media features an open kitchen where diners can watch their gyros, souvlaki, and Greek salads get made. The sandwiches are served on soft pitas and spanakopita is a house specialty." - Sarah Maiellano, Rachel Vigoda

Google
Haven’t dined in yet but this place does not miss!!! Their Gyros are SO GOOD!!! I get the whole wheat wrap with chicken cucumbers and onions and it’s been perfect every time I have ordered it. 10/10 definitely excited to stop by and dine in. I really should try other things on the menu but I’m obsessed with the gyro

Google
I ordered the falafel gyro, and LITERALLY INHALED IT. It was excellent. I got mine with raw onions, tomatoes, cucumber and feta with tzatziki . Really good texture falafel and the outside was CRUNCHY SO THAT IS 10/10! (I ate it so fast that I forgot to take pictures) And I also got the zucchini fries- unfortunately mine were pretty soggy so I didn’t enjoy them as much. The crunchier ones were better in my opinion- AND FOR DESSERT THEY HAVE AUTHENTIC GREEK CAKES AND PASTRY. The one associate helped me chose between baklava and this cake which I had never seen before . AMAZING- absolutely amazing. I shared it with a kind friend and it was absolutely amazing. 10/10 aswell . It’s a custard with an almond and coconut top and it was excellent so if you ever need advice ask the people working 🤍🙏🏼 I believe it was called knafeh

Google
My husband and I were so excited to find this place. I lived in Greece for two years and talk about the food none stop so it’s nice to have a place that reminds me of the land. Their yeeroh was on point- just like in Athens, and their bowl was delicious. Reasonable price, service was great, and atmosphere chill. A definite regular go to on our list from now on.

Google
The food was soooo good! I got a hummus and falafel sandwich, side of zucchini fries, regular fries, and lemon potatoes. The food was fresh and flavorful. Large portions too. The person that helped me was knowledgeable about vegan food. I'm grateful they have so many options for vegans.

Google
This was a decent gyro I'd give it a 3.5/5 but I can't do half stars. Nothing special or to write home about but I'd eat it again. I got the beef and lamb gyro and then my colleague got the chicken gyro. The tzatziki wasn't my favorite I wish it had more dill seasoning but they did give you a generous portion in your gyro. The pita bread the gyro came in was good quality. I also tried the dolmades and they were good. I wish they offered them with meat and rice and herbs but I'd also get these again. Overall I'd go back but nothing I'll dreaming about.

Google
This is the “falafel souvlaki”. It had 4/5 falafel pieces and 1 piece of small pita cut into 4 slices. No lettuce, no tomato. Nothing else. Zero flavor. I’ll just pull something out of my freezer next time. We also had the hummus. Also zero flavor and the pita was rubbery. Disappointing on all fronts. This place was really good. I don’t k kw what happened.

Google
This was hands-down, without a doubt the most incredible Mediterranean/Greek food I have ever had in my entire life. The staff was incredible and the food was so fresh. I took my boss here who is from New York City and he told me that he knew great Greek food and then completely bit his tongue when I took him to this place because this place was so much better that he has ever had. I will 100% be back! The lamb and beef Gyro is to die for!

Google
Very good food, I got the classic chicken yeeroh , the feta sticks and wheat pita bread. It was all great.

Yelp
Ordered take out twice this week- Bowls and gyros. Fresh, fast, delicious! The staff are very friendly when you pick up.

Yelp
The food was bland. I had to add salt to everything. The "pork belly" is actually a tough, teeth tearing pork chop. Pork belly is supposed to be like extra extra thick bacon. I couldn't eat my food. I brought it home to sit in marinade so that I can use it as meat for my pho that I'm making on Saturday. My coworker recommended this place. I was very disappointed.

Yelp
Simply a wonderful discovery. Food is tasty, the place is very clean and the staff are genuine. First impressions matter. We had to try it. After The House Yeeroh, there's probably no more eating today. Had to take the other meal, the Bowl home. Coming back for sure.

Yelp
Although the reviews are good, I thought I'd be underwhelmed. I was wrong. It was delicious and packed full of ingredients, especially protein. Although both were good, I think I favor the yeeroh meat over the suvlaki meat due to size and eatability. The pink and yellow side sauces are a waste. In my opinion, you can mix your own mayo and ketchup or mustard. Save room for dessert. These were the real highlight and 6 stars all day long. We tried the marmalade-ish orange cake and the crispy pastry with vanilla custard....amazing.

Yelp
Used to be gas but they lil as shit now for more bread shit got me all the way fucked up. Respectfully

Yelp
They forgot to send a gyro. Then they told me to buy another one ? Horrible service I will not order from them again !

Yelp
Everything was delicious and fresh..we had boxes of leftovers. The orange cake was amazing.

Yelp
Great flavorful Mediterranean food and awesome service. Portion is decent. Parking may be difficult at times.

Yelp
I made their food look good in my photos, but meat sampler has gone downhill. This past time I got through the chicken, but could not do the pork (tough, lots of fat, very greasy). Everything else was ok, but unremarkable. It used to be better. Never was as good as my Greek go-to in Paoli, but Yeeroh used to be 4 stars for the lower price. Now, Yeeroh's cheaper deal isn't worth the raised price for the loss in quality.

Barrister M.

Yelp
Bland. Dry. Almost flavorless. Just piled meat on top of a pita. Salad bowl was full of water at the bottom.

Yelp
I was a big fan of Yia, the Greek restaurant that occupied this space before Yeeroh, so I was hoping to really love it. Sadly, it was just okay to me. The pork souvlaki was good but I guess I should have ordered a sauce to go with it. The eggplant spread was good but not the best I've ever had. I was most excited to try the fried feta sticks with strawberry marmalade. They were good but would have been better if I'd eaten them in the restaurant iwhile they were still hot instead of taking them home. By the time I ate them, they were not gooey or melty which is what I was hoping for. And the strawberry marmalade? Sorry, maybe it really is homemade but it tasted just like Smuckers Strawberry Preserves to me. They need to do something to set their marmalade apart, maybe adding in some fresh herbs or something. All in all, it wasn't bad but it just didn't wow me. I do plan to give them another try sometime.

Yelp
I literally made a Yelp account just to be able to rate this place 5 stars. It has amazing food for a decent price and it's ready in a timely manner. Super friendly customer service as well! I'll definitely be coming back here.

Yelp
Gyros here have been uniformly excellent. We've tried pork, chicken, lamb, and veggie options and all were delicious and amply portioned. Lemon potatoes make a delicious, pleasantly oily side dish that is definitely shareable. I'm docking one star for the disappointing "Yeeroh Salad" which 1) amazingly does not actually contain any gyro meat, despite the name 2) had only greens, nuts, and beets, which did not make for a satisfying salad.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The staff is friendly. The food is really good. I was working in the area for two weeks and I couldn't get enough, I ate here about 5 times!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Great food. A little pricey, but you are paying for quality. Our delivery was timely, fresh and very tasty. I got the Chicken Souvlaki platter and my friend got the crispy chicken sticks and rice pudding. All were excellent.

Yelp
During the first visit I made to Yeeroh, I ordered the pork gyro. I found the meat to be very tough. However, I thought I'd give the restaurant another try. The second time, I ordered the gyro with the lamb/beef combination. It did not taste good and was dry. The service was wonderful but the gyros at least are not very good. I would love to love this place because we need a good Greek place in Media.

Yelp
Very fresh food. Friendly staff. Clean interior. French fries, mmm. Would recommend. Kids meals too.

Yelp
Love this place! Wonderful staff. Fresh, tasty ingredients and toppings! Gyros are great, and I am absolutely addicted to the spinach & feta mini pies! 5/5!

Yelp
Authentic gyro with all the fix ins. Wonderful staff. Will come here from now on for my gyro cravings. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good gyro/souvlaki.

Yelp
So so good I love the yeeroh in media I try the classic with chicken and fries in side. Loved Loved

Lisa C.

Yelp
Our falafel sandwiches were a disappointment. The falafel didn't taste very good--it tasted bitter and not home made. I wish they offered a salad as the side instead of the small amount of fries that comes with it. I felt like the price was too expensive for the little that we got that didn't taste very good. I miss the restaurant that used to be here, as the food was always fresh and delicious and included a side Greek salad as an option.

Denise G.

Yelp
Zucchini fries excellent. Lamb pita sandwich very tasty. Lamb was very tender, just a little bit dry. Will go again.

Megan A.

Yelp
Awesome staff and food!! I called to place an order for pickup, and the person on the phone helped me make a decision about which fries to get, I went with their suggestion of the feta fries, so good!! I also got the classic pita yeeroh with chicken, it was delicious. Cant wait to come back!

Yelp
Great find for excellent Greek food! Staff works hard to provide made to order items using fresh ingredients. Caters to all food choices, including vegan.
