Yella is 'alley' reversed, and this place is indeed tucked away next to an alley. I liked this meal, and there were lots of little nice touches that I appreciated. The mint garnishes on many of the dishes, the grey/violet color scheme of the decor, the noise-reducing panels on the walls and ceiling: all very thoughtful.
Service is fast, friendly, and attentive. I was seated promptly and all my food came out very quickly on a Thursday at dinner time.
The food is a solid interpretation of Mediterranean -- lots of herby, bright, savory flavors. They make pretty good hummus, and I'm pretty picky about hummus. It's very light and fluffy, and while I thought it could have used a little more acid, the consistency and texture were perfect. Their pitas are similarly airy and light, and taste super fresh.
I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, the hummus awarma, and the fattoush salad. They also brought a small app plate of hummus and pita chips. The hummus awarma is terrific: a generous portion of hummus topped with a ground beef/onion/pine nut mixture, and plenty of fruity olive oil, served alongside a tall stack of hummus. I really loved this. The fattoush was pretty good, though the vinaigrette was extremely vinegar-forward. Also, I expected more of a traditional fattoush with soaked pita, but the pita chips here served more as croutons. Nevertheless, I really liked the sumac and herbs in this.
This is a great spot on Andover, and don't forget to redeem the yelp check in offer if you come!
