Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings

OBSESSED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. The bánh mì here are so fresh and delicious. It’s so hard to find good value food in Seattle, but each of these sandwiches were $10 and LOADED. Nice thick cuts of meat, fresh veggies, and massive. I ordered the Traditional and my partner got the Grilled Pork bánh mì. Both were delicious, and you bet we will be back to try the other sandwiches. Hope this new-ish small business sticks around for a long time! UPDATE: We came back and the banh mí are now priced higher.

Update : So I recently tried the Strawberry Creme Bee Puff to go at the YB Cafe because it was new and looked amazing, but do yourself a favor and Skip it. First off, I had to wait 20 minutes for them to make it, which was already annoying . After finally tasting it, I was disappointed. It was literally just whipped cream and not-so-fresh and hard strawberries stuffed into a soft puff, then drizzled with condensed milk. Nowhere near what it was advertised, and honestly, a huge letdown in both taste and value. After all that waiting, I expected something special, but this was below average at best. Definitely not worth it. * * I couldn’t be more excited about the opening of Yellow Bee! This new addition to the neighborhood is exactly what we’ve been needing. Open from 8 AM to 8 PM, it’s perfect for everything from a morning coffee or matcha to a quick lunch or dinner. Walking into Yellow Bee, I was immediately struck by the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The store’s bright colors, modern decor, and chill music make for an enjoyable shopping experience. Navigating the wide and well-organized aisles was a breeze, and I found everything I needed without any hassle. The coffee espresso bar is definitely a standout feature. I tried the matcha latte, which was superb. The grab-and-go section offers a variety of quick and nutritious meal options. I had the grilled chicken Banh Mi sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. The baguette was perfectly crisp yet soft, and the fresh, flavorful ingredients really stood out. I’m looking forward to trying their vegan options next. Yellow Bee’s pricing is very reasonable, making it accessible for everyone. I was also impressed by the extensive grocery selection, including fresh meat, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. It truly is a one-stop shop for all your daily needs.

Great drinks! But also a very cool grocery store concept and a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Cheaper alternative to Uwajimaya! Unfortunately the banh mi was more style than substance, even though they are massive. Also their sauce collection is surprisingly low quality - couldn't find any of the famous ones like Kewpie.

Yellow Bee Market is an awesome shop, place to grab a bit, and an overall great addition to the area. The variety of grocery options was very impressive (imported snacks, produce, meats, wine, beer, etc) and I appreciated the coffee and sandwich menu. The food we tried was quite good and overall had a great shopping experience. I would recommend they install a self check out area so that customers who are grocery shopping do not also have to be in the same line as coffee patrons eetc. Definitely will be back!

WOW! SO excited to write this review! Yellowbee just opened today 06/20/24 and it is EXACTLY what the Yesler area needs. I live in the apartment complex where the shop is located and I am SO excited that they just opened! Yellowbee is a deli/compact supermarket that offers a convenient and vibrant shopping experience, offering daily necessities, with a handpicked selection of fresh meat, seafood, fruits, and vegetables, as well as a large selection of beer/wine/spirits! One of the highlights of Yellow Bee is its coffee/espresso bar, where you can indulge in a variety of specialty coffees and beverages, including bubble tea! The sitting area provides a cozy space for friends to hang out, catch up, and enjoy their drinks, creating a sense of community within the store. Not only is Yellow Bee a grab-and-go market, it features a variety of quick and nutritious food choices, with a special focus on Banh Mi, a Vietnamese sandwich known for its delicious flavors and healthy ingredients. 10/10!

Google
I just love this store! They have a very good selection of asian snacks, groceries, and day to day items. It’s so convenient to have a market like this in the neighborhood! Also love their food options. Their bagel banh mi is EXCEPTIONAL, so flavorful and fresh. And the fruit teas never disappoint. Very nice that they offer vegetarian options too. The layout of the store is very thought out. And they keep adding new items, every time I go in I get excited to browse around. Oh and they have WiFi and a work station, if you’re looking to get some work done! The staff is also amazing, super friendly and helpful!

I know ive been out the loop for awhile but im back :). I recently found this market that sell amazing bagel banh mi! Didn't know that existed so i came during the morning and got myself a pork bagel banh mi and it did not disappoint. The bagel stayed in piece after each bites. I thought the ingredients would fall all over and it would be messy, that was not the case. The pork was sweet and but nicely balanced by the veggies. I ended up craving more, i do want to try the actual sub for lunch so i will update the review when i do. Aside from the bagel the market is filled with a lot of variety and i would compare it to a mini H mart. Parking can be tricky as with any places in Seattle, i parked across the street at the park and walked up not which wasn't bad i definitely recommend checking this out whether is for a little shopping or some of their delicious bagels/banh mi.

Yelp
Came to try the boba. It was good ngl but I'm a bit disappointed that they don't fill it up to the top. There was a good inch space That said, this place offers a good variety of snacks, food and drinks. A convenient store basically

Yelp
I visited late at night around 7 PM and had no trouble parking thanks to the nearby retail parking garage. The place was pretty crowded, so it seemed like a local favorite. I was hoping to try the mac and cheese, but it had sold out. They were kind enough to offer me a sample of what was left, and it was pretty good. In the end, I went with the cheese jalapeño bagel with plain cream cheese. Unfortunately, the bagel was still cold after being toasted and didn't have the best flavor, so I wouldn't order it again. However, I'd definitely return for the mac and cheese! They also offer banh mi and have a fully stocked deli. The store has a great selection of Vietnamese and other unique goods that I really enjoyed browsing. It's a bit pricier, but you'll find items that aren't available everywhere. The store is spacious, but seating is limited. The staff was friendly, which always makes a difference.

Yelp
A great one stop shop for groceries and delicious food and drinks! Service was friendly! They also validate parking when you purchase items because they have a garage you can park in. There's also some seating inside if you decide to food there! I was quite impressed by their large selection of items! From fresh produce to Asian items like sauces, frozen goods, snacks, and more! At the deli, they have drinks options (milk teas, coffee, boba) and the highlight was definitely the bahn mi and bagel bahn mi options! They also have cookies and danishes! Food: - I got the mango milk tea with coconut jelly - a little on the sweet side but still really good! - tofu bahn mi - very tasty and had great flavor! - brisket bagel bahn mi - soo good! The bagel really adds a lot! - hubby got the avocado shake and the beef rib bahn mi and loved it! Overall, a great spot and we can't wait to come back for more bahn mi sandwiches!

Yelp
After a stop in Pioneer Square, I decided to check out Yellow Bee in Yesler Terrace (9/21/24). I was lucky to find street parking around the corner. It is also located on a streetcar route along Yesler. Grabbed a shopping and started wandering down each aisle. I enjoy exploring international grocers and bodegas to see various items not commonly found. Lots to view on the shelves, refrigerated & frozen cases, and produce area. Yellow Bee also has a cafe counter where beverages, baked goods, and deli items can be ordered. I found primarily beverages, condiment, Korean noodle, and European choxolate of interest. Such a variety of potential impulse purchases, despite exercising restraint, spent over $30. Appreciated not being charged for a grocery bag fee. However, later saw a "sweetened" charge on my receipt. I think it was the City of Seattle charge on the three beverages purchased. Just saying. Convenient for nearby residents, but routine grocery shopping probably best made in adjacent Chinatown-International District, First Hill, or Central.District neighborhoods.

Yelp
It's a market and a deli in one place! This is the newer location of Yellow Bee located in First Hill. First of all, street parking is rough here needless to say. Once you do get there, the place is your average grocery store but with more Asian food and packs of chips that come in bags that I haven't seen before. There's also a large wine section, and everything's very well and colorfully organized. My friend and I didn't come here for the groceries though. We instead went for their banh mi sandwiches and drinks. They did advertise their banh mi bagels but was told they didn't sell them just yet. I got the grilled pork banh mi with a peach milk tea, and my friend got the beef brisket banh mi with an avocado smoothie. The smoothie took a while coming out but we were also given extra as they made an excess. Everyone working behind the counter was extremely accommodating and friendly, and also enjoyed asking about my day and my friend's as well. As for the food, the braised beef banh mi was too saucy for our liking but this didn't detract from my experience. Peach milk tea and avocado smoothie were both all right and nothing too special. The grilled pork banh mi was our favorite by far! Tons of flavor and the right amount of filling, all in a sandwich that's pricier than average by far but also longer than what I've seen on average too. The quality of this sandwich by far reaches the quality of some of the best banh mi sandwiches I've had here in Seattle so far!

Yelp
New market opened on Yesler serving its community with practical goods and also some great food. It's not the cheapest place to grab simple things like fruits and vegetables, but it's not as sketchy as some other areas (if you know what I mean). Made to order Banh mis, grab&go foods, snacks, coffee, and bubble tea are just a few things you can get at Yellowbee Market. A banh mi will set you back between $10-$16. With various traditional and non-traditional fillings. Coffee drinks and bubble teas/shakes range between $4-$8 depending on your order. The fruit options all seem to be powder/syrups. Other items that I was surprised to see were thin sliced hotpot meat, South American grade A sour cream, tofu of all types, breads, tortillas, Asian branded ice cream and soooooo many snacks! It's a perfect place to pickle up some lunch and chill in their dinning area or go across the street to the spray park/ playground at Yesler Community Center. The staff are quick and friendly and if you have questions or recommendations they're there to answer them. I'm curious if they will be having a weekly special or weekly circulation for sales. The down side is that parking can be a bit of a hassle since Caphill/ID has limited spaces to park in. If you're taking the street car from Pioneer Square to Broadway then it stops practically right I front.

Yelp
Sweet little Viet grocery store in the Yesler neighborhood just under an apartment complex. They also have a sweet cafe area serving up drinks and food including banh mi. Holistically, a great addition to the area. Green Milk Tea w/ Boba - strange that they don't have black tea as a base but have both jasmine and green. Nonetheless, the tea is brewed well and flavorful but the sweetness definitely overpowers it. Can only imagine what the flavored syrups contribute. Boba was chewy but had absolutely no flavor which got boring real quick. Decent to satisfy cravings but would trek into Chinatown for other options.

Yelp
Went here on a Thursday at around 7pm. This is inside a grocery store, it was very hectic with lots of people hanging inside and outside the store. I had very low expectations and they actually were better than I thought but it still wasn't good and I wouldn't go back. The tea part of the drinks were pretty solid, did not need adjustments to sweetness but overall the toppings were not that great. Avocado - 3/10: avocado was still raw, could taste it. Fresh milk with condensed milk so it's very watered down. (Rating and notes from persons whose drink it was lol) Passionfruit 6/10: fine but watered down with the ice, grass jelly is a little too dense and flavorless Lychee green tea: 6.5/10: the tea was pretty good but I wanted lychee jelly and they ran out so they gave me rainbow jelly which I do not care for

Yelp
This new grocery store is like a mini Uwaji's with an impressive array of Asian items. I was very curious about their coffee bar and banh mi station. On my first visit, I went in the morning and got a mocha, which was a bargain at $5.00 for a 16 oz coffee drink. I also ordered a chicken banh mi, which was really good. The bread was fresh - crispy on the outside and soft inside. The grilled chicken was moist and flavorful. I would have it again. For my 2nd visit, I went around 1:30pm and ordered the brisket banh mi, which was very tasty. So far, I'm very impressed with their grilled meats. One thing to note - if there's a line, expect your banh mi to be delayed. In both visits, the cashier also serves as the banh mi maker. I'm definitely intrigued here and looking forward to coming back to see what other food offerings (eg, spam musubi, rice bowls) there might be during lunch and later in the day. There is counter seating inside, as well as outdoor patio seating. Finding street parking during the day is tricky with surrounding construction. There is pay parking in the building garage.

Yelp
If there's one thing you need to get it is the beef brisket banh mi. The spicy sweet sauce, the tender beef, the fresh cilantro and veggies, just so so bomb. For sure get it. The chicken banh mi is not worth it in my opinion, I'd definitely stick to some of the other ones. I liked their short rib bagel banh mi but it tasted a little bit too charred. They have some very good pastries and fresh drinks but to be honest, we didn't think their drinks were their strong suit. However, their avocado smoothie was literally the epitome of an avocado. Definitely recommend this place

Yelp
I was disappointed that my drink tasted like powder instead of tea. Cool concept and they do have a unique Taro Matcha latte that I tried. Good service and they did have retail parking around the corner.

Yelp
Beautiful store layout, CLEAN, smells good. And the store smell isn't affected by the deli station either. Very impressive. Their deli selections are outstanding also, delicious food

Yelp
Honestly food + drinks were bad... Drinks: wayyyy too sugary and clearly made from powder Banh mi: had no flavor. They just added hoisin sauce which should not be the only thing. Also they served it cold. The bread was soft not toasted. Dessert: wayy too sugary and buttery

Yelp
I was really excited for this place to open as there's nothing nearby in walking distance for convenient shopping. But more often than not it isn't convenient at all. It seems they either do not get shipments often, or the staff is not on top of stocking. If it's not the drinks/water, it's the alcohol or the snacks. :(

Yelp
Strong South Lake Union/Amazon vibes in the new Yesler Terrace neighborhood. Before 2013 it was a totally different area with decades-old low-income housing. I had a high school friend who lived up here back in the day and we used to swing by her place to pick her up. -- After work I caught the First Hill Streetcar up to Yesler Terrace. I know, I know, the streetcar is excruciatingly slow af but it stops right in front of this convenience store in this high density area. Other public transit options are the #27 (Leschi) and the #60 (West Seattle, Georgetown, Beacon Hill). It's kinda like a 7-11 for asian food and drinks. Even though they have 2 designated register lines they had everyone line up in a single file which blocked the entrance/exit. It was pretty disorganized as the 2 employees were multi-tasking as sandwich builders, drink makers and grocery cashiers. If you want to observe a stressful environment, this is it. They don't have designated employees/stations to streamline orders. The employees were friendly despite their unfair working conditions but I definitely see high turnover if something doesn't change. Burnout? Absolutely. If someone called out that day then all I saw was some lady manager dinking around instead of helping her staff or engaging with customers. If you're standing in line you may notice that cell phone service is poor. Luckily they offer free wifi to pass the time. As for clientele, I see people who work at Harborview and Swedish stopping by for snacks or lunch. Seattle U students would probably stop by here too. For the folks who live and work in this neighborhood they'll appreciate a new place to buy goods. I probably won't be back. It was too much of an effort getting here and a huge time suck standing in line. I just wanted to check it out to see if it was worthwhile. It's easier for me just to hop on the Light Rail to Uwajimaya in C-ID, H Mart at Westlake, or m2m on Capitol Hill. These locations are just more organized and established.

Yelp
Yellow Bee in First Hill is an absolute gem. Love. their fresh made to order Bahn Mi - the flavors are incredible and the bread is perfectly crispy. But that's not all! This place is more than just a sandwich shop - it's a fantastic little market with a remarkable selection of Asian grocery items. You can find everything from fresh produce and unique hard-to-find sauces and snacks. It's the perfect spot to grab a delicious and authentic meal while also stocking up on ingredients for your next culinary adventure. They even have a nice selection of deserts, breads, along with wine and beer! Friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Delicious food, excellent service, and very clean store. Would recommend to anyone! Love the variety of options in the store.

Yelp
Ambiance was lovely! Service was good. We got the banh mi sandwiches and it was not very flavorful or tasty. Not worth the price of the sandwich.
