This charming brunch/dinner spot hits all the right notes for those in search of classic brunch dishes that are both delicious and affordable. The decor and atmosphere are bright, happy, and inviting, with an abundance of natural light and vibrant floral arrangements and color choices. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave satisfied, and the quality of the dishes is top-notch. The service was great with friendly and attentive staff. It's clear that Yellow Diner puts a lot of thought and care into every aspect of their offerings. In a nutshell, Yellow Diner is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful meal in a cheerful and welcoming setting. Whether you're a local or just passing through the town of Vienna, VA, don't miss out on this delightful dining experience.

After only being open for a week, this sweet diner is humming with excitement and packed all the time. The staff are incredible. Our waiter was efficient, but also warm, conversational, and brought a sense of humor that we really appreciated. My mom absolutely cleaned her plate (an enormous pork chop that was so delicious, I actually cleaned the bone). I've never seen her eat her whole meal like that :). I had the chicken and waffles, which was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. The apple tart was insanely good -- perfect crispy, flaky crust. Highly recommend. This team clearly works very hard and has put so much attention into the details. I noticed the people eating next to us absolutely loving their dishes too. The portions are large and filling. Love this place and will be back often!

Went here twice yesterday(4/28), for breakfast and for dinner. Got tomato soup both times, with half grilled cheese the second time and I love the soup, grilled cheese was great too, a very solid grilled cheese. For breakfast I had the yellow burger; it was solid, looks bigger than it feels to eat bread squishes squishing makes it a bit hard to hold and patty hangs off slightly, more wide than it is tall but still tasted good. Got the lamb shank and fettuccine for dinner. Lamb was good, served on top of sweet potato mash but we asked for regular potato mash instead and they accommodated and it was delicious imo, the fettuccine wasnt great but not bad either, just kinda mid I still did eat it but not enjoyably. Atmosphere and design I love, both servers I had today were great; friendly and helpful. And to top it off, they have bendy straws.

Had a wonderful dinner this evening at the brand new Yellow Diner. Even with the bright, yellow color scheme of the restaurant, the atmosphere was a bit more mellow despite being a full house. The arrangement of the seating in the space is open and inviting, offering both a sense of togetherness and intimacy. I particularly enjoyed the simple menu with fan favorites and “no frills” - I opted for the Reuben sandwich with onion rings which was delicious and satisfying. While the food offerings all looked delicious as I gazed around the restaurant, I also noticed how the atmosphere of the restaurant offers a sense of calmness. Although I was dining alone this time, I would see this spot as a perfect venue for a dinner date or just to dine with a friend you haven’t seen in a while. An aura of warmth could be felt as soon as you walk in the door and are engaged by the friendly staff. I highly recommend you give this new restaurant a try!

Google
Yellow diner is an adorable restaurant. The wood accents, arched doorways and cheerful palate was very inviting. The menu was pretty sparse and the waiter seemed overloaded as it took a while for him to come take our orders. When we asked if they had mocktails, he said no and followed by offering us wine, beer and spirits. The dishes were all tasty. We ordered the lamb shank and chicken souvlaki and a Greek salad for some vegetables. Each dish was made with care and seasoned well. I took off one star because the Yellow Diner still seems to be seeking out its identity. The menu offerings seem random with a few Greek items sprinkled in with American fare. I'm sure they'll get on their feet in time!

Google
Very friendly and helpful staff, even when they do seem a bit busy. The food has been consistently outstanding, and the menu variety is interesting; from spaghetti bolognese to pancake tacos. They use Caffe Amouri's coffee, which is always a huge plus. The shakshouka is to die for.

We came for breakfast on their first Saturday, we knew it’d be busy and didn’t want to take a 4-top so we sat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly, chatted us up about the dinner menu, upcoming cocktail possibilities, etc. it was great to see him excited for what’s to come. The coffee was good and the place was buzzing the whole time. Our food came and was pretty good, we enjoyed it and decided we’ll probably come back for dinner sometime.

This is a beautiful restaurant! The food and atmosphere is comforting, warm, and overall a great dining experience. Will come again very very soon with my friends and family!

Yelp
Wonderful food and service by the fabulous Pagonis family‍ Delicious fresh hamburger on a tasty roll. Also a wonderful club sandwich

Yelp
Busy buys for a Saturday AM brunch hour. I'm Glad they have small seating for parties of 1 or 2 people I probably should've sat at the bar but to have breakfast felt a bit odd. So I wanted for a table. I wasn't really sure what I wanted there was a decent variety but I opted for the pancake tacos. The waiter told me that it may be overkill if I try to get another dish also since the tacos were a decent size. I mean I did want pancakes and I also wanted something savory... which totally didn't disappoint the eggs and pancake were fluffy nice crisp bacon which added the salt sweet from the syrup and of course the egg staple of chaloula to add spicy perfection! Oh and that freshly squeezed orange juice.. was so good. Overall great experience at yellow and I will be returning to try the rest of the menu. I'll admit a bit steep for pancakes and orange juice by it was tasty fresh and left a lasting impression. I will be back for the rest of the menu. L

Yelp
Opening weekend was packed at the Yellow Diner as people anxiously awaited the new diner. At noon, the entrance was packed with waiting patrons. The wait wasn't terrible - 20 minutes. No wait for bar seating that rotated pretty frequently. The interior is beautiful - bright, cheerful, sunny. Brunch menu offered a good variety of classics. Food was good - clean - healthier. Definitely not your greasy spoon offerings. Everything tasted fresh, perfectly seasoned, and balanced. Eggs Bennie cooked perfectly and hollandaise sauce just the right amount of tang. The pickled onions were a nice addition. Service was friendly. Our server forgot a few things, toast, orange juice, hot sauce...but it was remedied immediately when pointed out. Prices were a bit on the high side. Given the quality of the food and ambiance, we'd definitely return but probably not as regulars.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday for lunch and had about a 25min wait. After we sat down, we realized the wait was a bit deceiving, as there were about 4 empty tables around us throughout our meal - hopefully not to create hype but just figuring out ability to service? Our server was unfortunately not great - she got our order wrong and then tried to charge the incorrect price too at the end. I also watched her forget to bring water to every table she served - basics. Other servers around us were efficient and effective so it was just her. Shout-out to the busser - really showed care in cleaning all the tables and setting new tables. The food delivers in a reasonable time and is reasonably priced (for Vienna) and good. The chicken and waffle - chicken is so tender, some of the best.

Yelp
Such a lovely Sunday brunch here. There is a bit of a wait because the hype is real right now. We waited about 25 minutes for our table of 3. Inside is cute - open and loud. Only wine right now for alcohol. My husband and mother in law had poached eggs. I learned after we left that my husband's were cold (he didn't say anything). I had the Tuscany omelet. Hot and good. Service was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of eating at the Yellow Diner on April 1st. This was their first official day open to the public. The inside had bright and fun decor with plenty of tables and lots of yellow art and decor. The menu wasn't too large but still had a nice variety. My friend got pancake tacos (breakfast taco fillings with a pancake "shell") and I ordered the chicken and waffles. I'm from the south, so I'd like to say I am a good judge of chicken and waffles. These were really good. The waffles had cheese and green onions baked into the batter for added flavor and texture, and the chicken (fried strips) were extremely juicy with a great batter. It was served with a side of whipped butter and warm syrup. My only note for the dish was I wish it had more butter for how big the waffle was. The service was good, but not great. We were seated immediately and our server was mostly attentive, but I recognized that it was everyone's first day. Food and drinks came out fast, but I wish our server was more available for water refills. One of the surprising highlights of the meal was my drink. I ordered an orange juice, and it was obviously freshly squeezed. It had great color and flavor-- absolutely delicious. I 100% recommend checking out the Yellow Diner. 9/10.

Yelp
Newly opened awesome place for brunch. I went for my first time and the food was awesome. I was hungry so I had a lot and spent a little more than I usually do for brunch/lunch but I had two entrees (cucumber salad and Eggs Benedict). I sat in the sunroom nice ambiance but a bit loud. I'll be back.

Yelp
Yummmmmmmy food and the service is great, as I expected . What a local gem Can't wait to try everything on their menu!

Yelp
The food portions were just right and everything tasted high quality and the staff was very kind wait was pretty quick the diner was very clean.

Yelp
Subpar at best. Service is slow. Menu is not typical diner food and quite pricey. The shakshuka is very good but they need to cut their bread thicker. The fried chicken breading is too thick and dries out the chicken, the waffle is tastey though. They don't have their ABC license. Heard they close and sold it anyway so hopefully the new place is better.

Yelp
We went for breakfast. The food was good, but not great. Service was okay but the noise level was way too high and we had trouble hearing each other. I thought parking was good until I tried to leave and found a delivery truck parked behind me. It took a lot of maneuvering to get out. Luckily I have parking sensors on my car or I wouldn't have been able to leave at all.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Sunday at 11:30. This place is popular with an amazing decor. Burger was decent with charbroiled patties and fries were tasty. Friend ordered soup and grilled cheese which hit the spot. Service was underwhelming and slow with reminders to bring menus, silverware. Sound carries and was hard to carry on a conversation. No reservations allowed, waited 30 minutes and underwhelming overall.

Yelp
It was Mothers Day so I suppose allowances have to be made, Very clean and attractive place, light and airy, tables nicely spaced. Service was excellent. The only problem was the food was not very good. The bacon(rubbery), sausage (dreadful little discs), potatoes (industrial) etc. On the positive side my wife's eggs benedict were very good. Maybe on a less busy day things will improve.

Johnny W.

Yelp
20 people waiting. 15 tables open. Not enough servers. Call it a soft opening rather than fully open. They looked overwhelmed.

Manuela R.

Yelp
Food is mediocre nothing to wow about it my burger didn't taste with any flavor just plain. The crème brûlée was overcooked texture was like eating scrambled eggs not good. I expected more of a warm diner the lights are too bright felt like eating in a food court at the mall. The service was friendly. I give it a three stars for the friendly welcome and the service and cleanliness but for food needs improvement.

Ralitsa C.

Yelp
Service is horrible! I waited for 20 minutes for somebody to just acknowledge my presence let alone offer me water. The bathrooms are disgusting!!! The women's bathroom was out of order on a relatively calm night! Ordered chicken which arrived raw after having waited for 45 minutes! Gave them one star because there is no lower rating!!! On top, when I called the manager, she had the audacity to tell me that " it would dry up if I waited"!!! Shitty joint all around--literally and figuratively!!! Then they tried to charge me for raw chicken!!! Food--shitty!!!Service--shitty!!! Ambiance--shitty (replete with screaming kids and elderly people chewing with their mouths open)!!!

Yelp
First time visiting this new eatery in Vienna. Noon on a Friday the diner was full, but only a 5 min wait. Decor is very, very nice, maybe the nicest diner I have seen. However, the noise level is unbearable. At times I thought someone was making a PA announcement. Note this was a casual, noticeably elderly crowd. I can only imagine an evening, filled with drinking patrons. Food was good. Cheeseburger was decent but bland. Definitely not a $17 burger. Onion rings were dipped in pancake batter without salt; not terrible but also not something i would order again. Homefries were a bit hard but tasty. Croque Madame was excellent. Had the egg on top been over easy as requested it might have been amazing! I suggest at least one visit to see for yourself, it's that nice. Could be that the glass room extension, with a lower ceiling was the issue and that the main room volume is less boomy.

Yelp
Concept: A very upscale dinner, elevating the unending mediocre menu of the classic NJ and NY ancestors. 17/20 Ambiance: Airy with eclectic decor, designed to induce a mellow yellow mood and make make your visit memorable 18/20 Food: Not your parents food fare ...... in time when the place reaches the level and the expectations of it's great ownership the quality and taste of it's food will reach a level that very few restaurants can match. Remember Rome was not build in one day 17/20 Service: Putting together a new team at a time that restaurant 16/20 personnel has reached new lows, it is a task that requires training and that requires time Value: Based on the ambiance food, service and value 19/20 Would I go back? Yes .... every couple weeks to measure the progress in a place that the ownership has an enviable history in providing great dinning to It's guests Yannis

Yelp
5 for ambience and service: loved the cheerful decor and our waiter was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was full, but our waiter refilled our water glasses several times. 3 for food: We were there for dinner and found the dinner menu to be limited for a diner. The brunch menu looks like it might have more offerings. Husband and I both ordered the Greek omelette. On the plus side: it arrived piping hot and had generous amounts of tomato and onion. On the negative side: feta was so stingy that it was almost undetectable. Better Greek omelettes can be found at The Virginian, the McLean Family Restaurant, & Metro 29 Diner. Hash browns included some diced bell pepper, which we enjoyed. Surprisingly, the waiter never asked us if we were interested in dessert and we did not see a pastry case, so we thought they might not offer dessert. However, when we asked, the waiter brought us dessert menus. Parking: many competing businesses share the same lot. If you live within walking distance, we recommend walking. Get some exercise, avoid a parking hassle, and earn the privilege of trying what other reviews have said is an excellent cheesecake. Bottom Line: If we feel like walking to breakfast, this diner will be a good destination for us. However, if we are looking for diner fare and are willing to drive, there are better options (for our taste) nearby.

Yelp
What a treat-Yellow Diner is a gem. The ambiance is light, happy and sparkling clean. The food was delicious and the waiter was super attentive. Yellow Diner has put its own unique spin on the "diner" experience. I highly recommend Yellow Diner, you are in for a real treat! The tomato soup is a must and the salmon was fabulous. What a great addition to the Vienna culinary scene!

Mariya B.

Yelp
We're not fans. We were so excited for this to open (we live a 5-minute walk away), but it was a huge disappointment. The decor looks like a cafeteria at a kindergarten, it's super noisy and not cozy, and the food was mediocre at best. Service was to match. We were a table of three. We ordered two appetizers and three entrees. The only dish we liked was the cucumber salad. We didn't finish the rest. It'll be a while before we try this again. I'm hoping the owners get the message and (at the very least) put some sound insulation into the place to enable patrons to hear themselves talk and hire a decent chef.

Kevin P.

Yelp
Any breakfast place that is worth eating at is open by 6-7 am. This place does not open till 9. Says a lot

Ron C.

Yelp
Went there for dinner 5/11/24, party of 3. The place is very, very noisy, had too practically yell to speak to each other. We were seated with 2 tables placed together. For a new restaurant, both tables were wobbly. Food was ok. We ordered dessert and it took almost 10 minutes to come out, when we asked the waiter about it, he looked lost. We finally received the dessert from someone else. At the table next to us they brought out their entrees before their appetizers. This is not a Diner and will never replace Amphora.

Thomas L.

Yelp
Wow. Stopped by at lunch: 1st visit. Interior cheerful, welcoming, uncluttered, clean in all ways. Sat at counter. This is called a diner? Servers practiced and attentive. Drip coffee excellent and hot; the Florentine Benedict dish carefully presented; perfectly poached eggs hot with a slice of tomato adding to texture and flavors of spinach, lemon, and fresh chives creating interest. Prices are diner-plus but this is a nice treat. .

Lorna D.

Yelp
Here's the thing--the food and service were good, but we won't be back. Unfortunately, the noise level is unbearable. I don't even know how it was possible to be as loud as it was when the restaurant was only about 60% full. It's kind of fascinating from a scientific standpoint. The waiter apologized before he said anything else, so it is something they are aware of. I hope it's something that can be improved because other than the noise level, it's a nice place.

Maria S.

Yelp
Second time at Yellow Diner was even better than first! Great quality of food, a perfect combination of Greek flavors like Greek salad, tzatziki, and chicken skewers and classic diner dishes. Desserts are must-have--the apple pie was my favorite. As for the ambiance, I do not think that one can pay more attention to detail and to materials than this group did! Reasonable prices. Hoping on full bar next time I go; for now just wine and beer.

I. P.

Yelp
Went on a Thursday evening and aesthetically it feels like you're walking into a hospital cafeteria. The seating is so uncomfortable and the bathrooms are right next to dinner tables. They had more servers than patrons and our dinner still took more than 45min to come out, we were a party of two. Their dinner menu is a Greek vibe and they use "yellow sauce" in just about every dish. You can find better dishes at Plaka Grill and Our Mom Eugenia's. Maybe they serve a better breakfast menu, but we will not be returning for dinner anytime soon!

Esperos C.

Yelp
What a beautiful Diner Bravo excellent job The food and all the stuff are great We are so lucky to have this wonderful diner We wish you all the best

Naveed S.

Yelp
It was so noisy inside that you couldn't even talk to the person sitting next door to you. We called the manager and he said they had a problem as the whole room has an echo issue. Bad design of the restaurant building. Will never go there even if it's a free meal. Deafening experience.

Bill P.

Yelp
My wife Lucia and I dined for our second time at our new favorite spot, the Yellow Diner in Vienna. We appreciate the happy, vibrant ambiance,, the diner charm and the hearty yet surprisingly healthy choice meals. Some of our favorites: The crispy skin salmon with celeriac purée, roasted tomatoes and a teriyaki glaze, Lamb shank with sweet potato mash, Greek chicken souvlaki with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki, French fries on pita bread. We also enjoyed our favorite mouth watering roasted tomato soup with half of grilled cheese. Offers Generous portions with American classics and old-school diner fare - the Yellow Diner delivers with gusto. Our waiters were prompt and efficient, the owners were gracious and professional as always, politely asking for customer feedback to ensure every dish is served with love and perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our culinary experience at this modern Yellow Diner Vienna establishment for the second time and will be back with family and friends.

Yelp
i went on a Sunday right when the diner opened very popular for being opened for a week. very cute on the inside and got the Nutella waffle very good very nice employees 100% recommend.

Yelp
I am sincerely not picky and have NEVER sent anything back in a restaurant. We went to Yellow Diner this weekend, and it was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had literally. The food and the coffee was stone cold. We can say that everything was cold due to poor service since it certainly didn't come off the stove that way. That said, there were many staff members and the place wasn't crowded at all. $4.50 for a half full, very small cup of espresso, $4.50 for a very small, half full cappuccino. and $4.00 for a very small mug of coffee. Had to wait 10 minutes for a table for two, when there were three empty 4 seat tables right in front of us in an very uncrowded restaurant.
