11 Outstanding Mexican Restaurants Around Boston

"Well-loved Yellow Door opened its third location in late 2022, bringing creamy elote, patatas bravas, and tacos with coconut shrimp, carnitas, and more to Mission Hill. Ending your meal with the churros are a must, as is traipsing through the tequila-soaked drink menu. If you’re in the Lower Mills neighborhood of Dorchester, drop into the first location, and hit up the South End spot, too." - Nathan Tavares, Eater Staff

Boston’s Top Tacos

"This laid-back taco shop, backed by local celebrities including Dropkick Murphys singer Ken Casey, has a fervent following around Boston. Settle in at the taqueria’s newest location in Mission Hill and reach for tacos with fillings like chili barbeque roasted duck, paired with a vanilla plantain puree, pickled red onions, crema, and strips of plantains, piled onto a housemade corn tortilla." - Celina Colby, Eater Staff

Watertown’s Cha Yen Thai Cookery Is Moving Across the Street | Eater Boston

"Co-owned by Ken Casey of the band Dropkick Murphys, Yellow Door Taqueria will open its third restaurant this fall at 1619 Tremont St. in Mission Hill; the new location will resemble the first two in Dorchester and the South End but with a nod to Mexico’s coastline (seashell wall sconces and a bar top designed to look like drying sand). While the core menu of powerhouse cocktails and tacos like jackfruit carnitas on house-made tortillas won’t change, co-owner Colleen Hagerty says the taqueria will have specials that reflect the injection of coastal vibes." - Adam H. We went here for brunch at this Mexican restaurant, and the food was really tasty. They don’t have too many vegan or vegetarian options, but the guac was absolutely delicious! The ambience is lovely — quiet, relaxed, and perfect for enjoying a meal. They do have a wide variety of meat dishes, which I’ve heard are really good. Overall, a nice spot for brunch with great food and atmosphere! They did overcharge me tho!

Hidden Gem! This spot is great for brunch and awesome for large groups, and the location is walking distance from the MBTA. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. LET'S talk drinks they are very tasty, and the bartender has great pour skills, and the flavors are great . They also have 1 dollar oysters.and great wings I definitely recommend stopping by.

A lovely place for dinner! Went here with a friend after work for margs and tacos and was not disappointed. The food was delicious, the vegetarian options were super yummy, and the drinks were good! Our server Jeremy was so kind and helpful, he answered all of our questions and was very attentive. Would totally come here again!

New location for this chain. Still really good. Interesting and tasty tacos. Although the nachos serving is pretty big with lots of toppings I’m not sure if the nacho cheese is fake or comes from a bag or something but wasnt my favorite. Good drinks and good vibe/music/interior. Easily accessible and street parking available.

Hi just bought the birria tacos from here omg the portion they give for $13 is awful two little tacos that looks like for a toddler. They were so nasty and salty and also so plain . Please do yourself a favor do not ever purchase !!!!!!!!

Amazing tacos!!!! My favorite was the birria tacos! So much flavor and perfect amount of cheese! Definitely would recommend and come back!! The Coconut Shrimp tacos were also amazing and the chicken flautas! Great delicious drinks! Beautiful decor and a nice place to spend time! I just wish the tacos were a little less expensive but worth when food is good!

The food was overpriced and incredibly small portions. Our server was inattentive. Our entrees were good however the appetizer was greatly disappointing. Aswell as the the (non refillable) 10 dollar chips and salsa came with cold and stale chips.

I loved this place! The vibes, the drinks, and food are all so good! The Orange Chicken Tacos, Carnitas Tacos, and Queso Carne Tacos were all so good. The street corn nachos were okay, I wouldnt get those again. I think this place is a little pricey but I would come back!
