Best Restaurants Near American Airlines Center | Eater Dallas

"As a locally owned spot that has become a favorite, Yellowtail is known for its Japanese cuisine and, more specifically, its surf and turf options. For steak lovers, numerous cuts are available to pair with shrimp or lobster. Plates full of seafood like pepper-seared tuna with crispy onions, Japanese oysters in ponzu sauce, and chili crab lettuce wraps pop off the menu, along with maki, handrolls, sashimi, and nigiri sushi options. Vegetarians can eat well here, too, thanks to its extensive menu of veggie rolls and dishes, like Monkey Brain (deep-fried avocado stuffed with spicy tuna sauce). The aesthetics hit the sushi-meets-steakhouse decor you’d expect, with black furniture, red and purple lighting, and wooden flourishes adding to its classic-meets-modern sort of charm." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
Food here was pretty decent, but about average given its price point. Nothing really stood out, but it is plated nicely. The server was friendly but the recommendations should be taken with a grain of salt. The truffle salmon was good although light on the truffle, but the rest weren't worth even remembering the name. The restaurant is well-decorated and seems like a pretty decent spot for a quiet date. There's a second floor, but I didnt bother to check or ask. Overall, it's a good spot if you're in the mood for some sushi during a date but certainly not a place you'd seek out if you're not in the area.

Google
This place does not miss, great ambiance, great food, great staff. Multiple occasions the consistency is appreciated. If you listen to anything get the BAKED mussels , and if you love sushi I get the Tokyo but change the sauce to spicy ponzu.

Google
All of the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Our waiter, Matt, was a super chill guy and explained the menu thoroughly. The food was absolutely delicious, exquisite and fresh!! 10/10 would come again 🫡

Google
Beautiful presentation. Fresh fish. Good service. Creative specials. Tasty cocktails and draft beer selection at a reasonable price. So excited to come back!

Google
Update! This restaurant is so cute! We ate everything Matt suggested- from sushi, sashimi and rolls… to cooked items from the grill. All of it was delicious! Went back and tried a more and of course, it was all yummy as well. Things we’ve had that stood out the most: Truffle salmon Yellowtail carpaccio Kanpachi chili Yellowtail collar Rolls: Salmon killer Kiss of fire Lemon drop roll orange blossom roll Wine : My favorite neighbor (perfect red)

Google
I was visiting Dallas and happened into Yellowtail. AMAZING! Is all I can say. By far, the best sushi and Japanese restaurant and VALUE in Dallas! Sushi, sake, beer, salad (incredible!) and huge broiled salmon dinner for $60!!!! If you like good Japanese food and don’t want to break the bank for a pleasant dinner, this is your place. Arigato! BTW- James was great. Good service but let me enjoy my evening.

Google
What started as a great night quickly turned sour. I was overcharged for the few drinks I had, and while it might not seem like much, as someone in the service industry, it’s the principle that matters. The server’s dismissive attitude only made it worse. I wanted to give this place a solid 4 or 4.5 stars—but honestly, the experience left such a bad taste that it’s barely a 2.5 or 3

Google
Great place, food, and atmosphere. Love that it’s open until Midnight! Also Happy Hour specials after 10pm. Able to easily get reservation. Good portions. Nice place to hit up after a movie, Stars, or Mavs game.

Yelp
Sushi was incredible! The place is really nice and well laid out. Our server was amazing and recommended good option. The damn DJ was terrible though. it was really bad. But the food was great so I'll be back and hopefully he ain't there next time.

Yelp
This was an interesting experience. We were in town for Nate Bargatze and decided to eat there before the show. When we walked in we were told there was a two hour wait for a table without a reservation, however we were able to hop on an app and there was plenty of open times and we got a reservation within 15 minutes. Strange. The food and service was amazing. The martinis were delicious and worth a try. It was a bit loud but once it cleared out a bit for the show it was much better.

Yelp
Chef creations delighted me - he made choices in pairings with fish I hadn't experienced before and each bite was a new interesting discovery. Also, my waiter Ross was incredibly attentive and thorough in his stellar service. I highly recommend Yellowtail! Went in on my actual 50th birthday before a Stars game and chose to sit at the sushi bar (which is normal for me as I love to watch the chef work). My server's name was Ross and he was quite engaging, seemed to truly care about my experience, and had helpful suggestions. The food was superbly created and curated with choices beyond the 95% of sushi restaurants, prepared in new and fresh ways I truly hadn't seen before that made flavor combinations exciting. Then, the surprise birthday dessert with a candle! And, yeah, got to go to the Stars game right after which we won so a pretty gosh darn good birthday -Tait

Yelp
It was a hit or miss experience for our dining party. We were in town on business during the cold snap just after Valentine's Day. We had a two person serving crew of a male and a female. Our take away was that the male was "training" the female. He was a dud and a not great so I am not sure why his "talent" was being passed along. We had a variety of rolls and nigiri... the nigiri was stale, old and smelly. We shared this with the male server- he was disinterested and still charge us for the pieces we sent back without eating- all of them.

Yelp
So I'll start off by saying that this is our fourth or fifth time eating here and while my other reviews would've been four stars, tonight just didn't hit the mark. Our server didn't really seem to care whether we were there and never ask if we wanted drinks beyond the waters he brought. The fatty tuna sashimi that we ordered was partially frozen in the middle. We pointed it out to our waiter and he said he did inform someone - nothing else happened. He also kept reminding us that sashimi came without rice,.... not sure what that was about. I was using my chopsticks correctly. All in all with all the other options we have before stars game probably would've been more satisfied with something else tonight.

Yelp
Sushi was fresh - their nigiri is a must try! You cannot go wrong with either the salmon or the tuna. Food came out quickly once ordered. I also really enjoyed the decorations and general vibe of the place.
google avatar

Mariel T.

Yelp
Good everyday sushi sort of spot. Parking garage is free for 2 hours. Portions are pretty big. What we got in order of what we liked best: Crispy rice with spicy tuna Konojo Tokyo roll
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Fish is just okay - had the salmon nigiri and the crispy rice tuna...would not order either again. Fish is NOT fresh. The service was excellent and the space is beautiful...they completely remodeled from the previous restaurant. I will give it a whirl again, just not for the food.

Yelp
Food: Espresso Martini - It was good, very sweet. Spicy Edamame - It's actually spicy which I loved. Tokyo Roll - We got the mustard soy sauce on the side because I was questioning it, but it ended up being good. The roll itself was pretty average, but the sauce was good. Sunrise Roll - My favorite out all of the rolls that was ordered. The spicy ponzu sauce was the best part! Very much tied it altogether. Las Vegas Roll - I don't usually like fried rolls, but this was surprisingly good! Scallop Volcano Roll - Tasted great! The sautéed mushrooms and scallops tasted amazing. Service: Our server was great! He provided many recommendations and made funny comments. It was very enjoyable to have him especially since we were on our first date. Ambiance: It was classy and nice. We went around 4-5 PM on Sunday when the weather was not the finest, so we were the first ones there. It's very spacious and clean.

Yelp
Yellowtail sushi is a recurring date night spot. The food is consistently amazing, I highly recommend the lychee martini for those who drink. The service is always above and beyond. Salmon killer is my favorite roll, but any roll you get will be perfect. They also play the best music here. It's never too busy or crowded, but also not too empty. It's just perfect. I'd 10/10 recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner.
google avatar

Kimari C.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday after going to the reunion tower and really enjoyed the sushi and sake and my son enjoyed his chicken hibachi and trying sushi for the first time! The service was good until the end he kinda forgot about us and I had to find someone to give me a Togo box. The ambiance was nice and romantic but I wasn't the only person there with kids that Wednesday night so I'd say it's family friendly!
google avatar

Dez V.

Yelp
5/5! Love this place! Food was so delicious. Everything we ordered was fresh. Service was very friendly and fast. She had great recommendations on which appetizers and entrees to get. Cute spot. Lights were dim. Im definitely coming back, most likely next week. Going to check out their happy hour.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
Was very skeptical of this restaurant, but I am happy that they exceeded expectations!! We had the chicken karaage to start, lychee martinis, cosmos, an assortment of rolls and I ordered one piece of scallop (hotate) nigiri. I thought the pricing was standard for victory park, and the scallop was so fresh and rather large! Good ambiance, I enjoyed sitting in the booth with my girls. Service was attentive, we were given a free bottle of sake at the end! Would definitely return.
google avatar

Troy H.

Yelp
When you come here, make sure that Creighton is your bartender. Seriously the best experience I've had and race ball downtown in victory Park in a very long time. Drinks 50 coconut Food 100 coconuts Total bill 150 coconuts
google avatar

Anastasiya S.

Yelp
Let's start with parking, they do have complimentary valet for 2 hours. Food is delicious, we ordered edamame, egg rolls, unagi, spider roll and calamari roll. Drinks we got mule and old fashioned. Everything was great. They do have happy hour and I will attach the menu to that. Service amazing everybody is very pleasant and attentive Ambience: it's a little on a classier side but still very chill place.
google avatar

Sabrina M.

Yelp
So so good! Just wanted to go to a nice sushi place in downtown Dallas and this is def the spot! The sushi was amazing, the ambiance and service was top notch too. Highly recommend visiting this place!
google avatar

Victoria D.

Yelp
Had been recommended by others to try it out. One of the dishes we ordered the Eel Nigiri and bones were still present in the fish. We ended up getting very sick from this and coughing up bones the rest of the evening. Beautiful restaurant and very friendly staff overall but just nervous about what to order now.

Yelp
We ended up here as an impromptu date night, and we will definitely be back! For an appetizers we got the egg roll, it was good but nothing to brag about. We'll probably get a little more adventurous with the appetizer the next time we go! For our meal we got the TT Girls roll and the chicken hibachi. The roll was so so so so good, it tasted fresh, it was flavorful, and I will definitely be coming back again for it! 100% would recommend trying this roll! The chicken hibachi was a really good portion size, enough to have leftovers! The hibachi vegetables were flavorful, they gave A LOT of chicken, and the fried rice was really good! It's an extra $3 for fried rice but completely worth it! Service was great, it seemed like a team effort! We had one main server but there were definitely others that came over to check in on us as well! Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone, whether a girls night, a date night or a treat-yo-self meal!

Yelp
Delicious and a great place to stop by before a Stars game! We made reservations online and were seated immediately with a friendly staff. Server wasn't very attentive but had no issues with food or service. We ordered four rolls and an appetizer and were stuffed. Drinks were also great! Will be back!

Yelp
Great restaurant and service, food is delicious, Great ambiance. Highly recommend trying.
google avatar

Renisha S.

Yelp
Sit at the bar, ask for Creighton! He is the best bartender, very welcoming, knowledgeable and makes a strong drink. The food is delicious I've tried just about every sushi roll and can't complain at all. Paul the owner is a great guy, he treats all customers like family. I love that this is one restaurant in Victory Park that stays open late night. They even have a reverse happy hour starting at 10. This is a must visit!
google avatar

Anna Z.

Yelp
Atmosphere is beautiful and love the decor in the restaurant. Service was good too. What I didn't love was the food, especially the tuna. We tried the tuna tartar and it was completely flavorless. I had tuna with sushi rice and it was not bad--there was a lot of sauce on it, which was good. I got a roll possible called the First Kiss or something else kiss and the soft shell crab was extremely overpowering. Once I removed that (and I do really like usually), it was better with the exception of the tuna. I'll just say that I'm a tuna fanatic and this was some of the toughest tuna with no flavor. The yellowtail was fine, but I'm not sure how or why the tuna in this was so flavorless and tough. Unless someone specifically requests to go there, I likely won't be back. The fish quality was not as good as Uchi, Nobu, Namo, or Oishii.

Yelp
The service was incredible! From our waiter to the bartender and staff. They really take care of you. My friends got food which was a great portion! The drinks were great!

Yelp
This is the second time visiting this place and both times it has been awesome. Both times we sat at the sushi bar and the service is great. The ambience is modern and contemporary. The server was attentive and our food came out fast. This time we split the kiss of fire roll and the snow white both were so fresh and delicious. My hubby had sake and I had the lychee Martini, borh of us enjoyed our drinks. Last time we tried Uni (sea urchin) which was on my bucket list it melted like buttering our mouths. There's no doubt we will come back when in the area for a concert or a game :)
google avatar

Yelp
I had a wonderful dinner here for a date night after the Dallas Stars game. This place is in walking distance of American Airlines Center. There was no wait for a table after the game. They did say they were very busy before the game though. We had the Tokyo roll (my favorite), Kiss of fire (my husband's favorite) and the Hard rock roll. We also had green tea, gyoza and miso soup. It was all delicious! Our waitress, Tessa was super attentive on refilling our waters and waiting on us. Our food came quickly with a beautiful presentation and our check also came promptly after the meal. Also shout out to Valerie, the kind hostess who greeted us when we arrived! Overall a 5 star experience in a beautiful atmosphere with yum

Yelp
When they named the restaurant Yellowtail, they weren't kidding! Anyone visiting this place gotta try the yellowtail!! The toro with gold foil is also amazing! Great service! Great food! Perfect location if you're visiting the Dallas Mavericks/American Airline stadium!
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!! Our server (I think Matt, but sorry if I forgot) was very helpful and made great suggestions. Definitely try the baked muscles when you're there
google avatar

Cory G.

Yelp
This place is new on the block but it's in a great location and has amazing dishes. The service here was great and the ambiance at the bar is the perfect setting for first dates or meetups with the boys before a Mavs game. They have a decent Saki Collection and the signature rolls were delicious!
google avatar

Mariana C.

Yelp
Wow!! Amazing food! Best service ever in Dallas! I mean this place is hands down for all Food! Best sushi ever, amazing service and drinks. I had the house margarita and my husband had the ichiban beer
google avatar

Sammy G.

Yelp
The ambiance, service and food were awesome. Short walk from the W. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
The food, service and ambiance was great. The sushi was very fresh. We loved the inside of this place and you can watch the sushi being prepared. We will be back.
google avatar

Chloe P.

Yelp
It had amazing food and the best service the food was one of the best sushi places I've even been to. It was the best service Ive had very fresh fish played nice music and had a very calm and clean environment.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
Nice restaurant, with aesthetic decor. Fair priced drinks and a good baked salmon roll. Went on a Thursday so not much of a crowd, so service was attentive. Ask for Kelli if you go!

Kim L.

Yelp
We sat at the bar, the bartender with the dreads was top tier. He was great, friendly & had good conversation with him. The role that you.We loved the double yellowtail rolls was awesome! The chicken habachi plate needed flavor. The chicken was really dry.
google avatar

Jordan J.

Yelp
I recommend going to Yellow Tail on either a weeknight or weekend. It is a reasonably priced sushi spot, in a really good location. It's right down the way from the American Airlines center, and is near a number of other bars and restaurants. There is free valet parking available at the restaurant, just remember to get your information validated upon leaving the restaurant. The ambiance in the restaurant, as well as the service were both on point. Lastly, the menu is relatively expansive. If you like it, you'll probably want to go again to try other options. I'd go back for a second run.
google avatar

Shane V.

Yelp
I have been here a few times and Everytime it's fantastic. The rolls are fresh and the service is superb. It's a perfect spot before or after heading to America airlines.
google avatar

Sammy J.

Yelp
Only sushi spot open later than your moms house (ooooooooooooo) great sushi, people are really nice. I wouldn't say go here as your first option for sushi, but definitely try it out if you're craving some and you're just in the area. Opened pretty new so everything's nice and shiny. Overall a good spot, not the best but definitely does the job.

Hortencia L.

Yelp
The server Max made great recommendations that were very appreciated. Not to mention the tenderness of the steak. We were there celebrating a birthday with relatives and to my surprise a birthday dessert was served!...Kudos to Max!!!...Billy and I would like to say thanks to David the manager for a wonderful evening!!
google avatar

Alexandria M.

Yelp
There's a reason this place consistently receives 5 star reviews!!!! We went during happy hour on a thursday night and were pleasantly surprised by the food, prices, ambiance, and service. The $7 lemon drop martini from the HH menu was well made as well as the food items we ordered from there! ($10 Spicy Tuna & Crunch Rice and $6 Pork Gyozas.) The real star of the show was the "Unicorn" Roll! The added touch of white super tuna really made this dining experience superb. The sushi tasted incredibly fresh and we already can't wait to go back again! Our server was attentive as was the rest of the staff (including the manager who was routinely checking in with everyone). I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a great sushi place in Dallas!

L. E.

Yelp
The food is delicious and has a clean, fresh and flavorful taste. The Teppanyaki grilled chicken with vegetables and rice was excellent. And so were the Gzoya's pork stuffed egg rolls. Friendly service with a pleasant vibe.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
good atmosphere, ok food, bad service got wrong order and waiter proceeded to argue that we were wrong. Waiter also forgot an order for a person until almost everybody else's meal was finished. Altogether very awkward Food was ok but nothing to write home about.

T L.

Yelp
Food, drinks and service was immaculate. Attention to details and the ambiance is an experience to remember for a long time from one traveling from out of state.
google avatar

Deb D.

Yelp
Service was superb. Sushi was so amazing and fresh! Margarita was good as well as the warm sake. We will definitely be back! Great space; not loud so you can have a conversation.

Little R.

Yelp
This is my boyfriend and I go to late night spot! I absolutely love their hibachi, their sushi and their teriyaki bowls! we always receive the best service from the mail, bartender downstairs, and the female bartender upstairs! The ambience is great on Fridays and Saturdays. They have a DJ and it turns into a small lounge which is a great two for one. I'd consider myself a regular at this point as this will always be a go to spot for me
google avatar

Keri C.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and the service was even better. We had Michelle as our waitress. She was great! She gave us good recommendations and a delight! We're coming back for her and the food

Angelica L.

Yelp
Definitely returning. Dinner was delicious. My daughter wanted her water in a wine glass and the waitress didn't hesitate. When asked for a regular drink the waiter surprised her with another wine glass, observation on point if you ask me. The ambience upstairs was on point ~they have a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays (not knowing) it definitely put me in a better mood .
google avatar

Payman P.

Yelp
Great ambience, excellent food and presentation. The staff are kind, accommodating with great service.
google avatar

Tatiana M.

Yelp
I enjoyed the entire experience from start to finish. Everyone on the staff was very courteous and made sure that we had a memorable experience. We ordered the baked mussels with dynamite sauce and I must say it's a must! I could've had 2 more orders just by myself it was that good. We had the Hard Rock Roll, Rock and Roll Roll and the Orange Blossom Roll they were all very fresh and flavorful. The chef definitely did not skimp on the seafood while making those rolls. It's far from a sports bar but the owner was gracious enough to put on the ACC championship game for me. Great place to go for a date night, girls night or even just for drinks at the bar. I'll definitely be going back soon.

Yelp
We're so glad Yellowtail Sushi is now in the neighborhood! The sushi is outstanding! Everything else we've tried is awesome as well. I've had sea urchin sushi, Japanese oyster (in photo), and soft shell crab (also pictured). Both were amazing! Very reasonable prices, great drinks, and very friendly owner and staff.
