Yen

"The highly refined Japanese decor in this restaurant will appeal to fans of the minimalist look. The menu showcases the chef’s speciality, soba – buckwheat noodles served hot or cold and prepared in front of you." - Michelin Inspector

Definitely need reservations - we walked in but we will lucky to do so. The soba is very nice and the pickle variety was great too. Very refreshing meal with a wide menu (we didn’t even try the sushi). Service was solid as well and the food arrived quickly. The mochi was good but I went with a sorbet and an ice cream would have been a better options.

Exquisite experience at Yen! This gem in Paris 06 delivers an authentic Japanese culinary journey with its exceptional soba noodles and finely crafted dishes. The service is impeccable, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere that complements the beautifully minimalist decor. A must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of Japan in the heart of Paris. Highly recommended if you can afford it!

It’s our favorite Japanese Restaurant in whole Europe! We made reservation with ten days advance notice and arrived directly from the airport to dine in. Their flavors are just amazing. I don’t know where and how they are getting their salmon and tuna but it’s the freshness and richest flavor fish I was able to taste outside of Japan. That flavor and the freshness is the key to the “waw” factor whether in tartare, sashimi, or nigiri. Had also delicious mixed tempura and cod. Miso Cod was on an overdone side as it was served in 4 small pieces instead of one, making the edges dry, but the nice flavor compensated for it. Service is very pleasant. The only thing I would suggest to the owners is to update the furniture in the patio and bring some modern Japanese art on the walls. The place is too sterile and does not photograph well.

Amazing Japanese restaurant in Saint German. Everything was served divided for 2 people even if we only ordered 1 portion. Super fresh fish

Just, YES YES YES AND YES. I came with my Japanese friend, and it was delicious. She said it was super authentic and was even able to speak Japanese with the waiters. The service was immaculate, and the food mouthwatering. And the desserts don’t even get me started. 100% recommended! Do you and have a little basket for your bag? It was so cute.

Genuine taste of Japanese food. Warm soba is wonderful dish for winter, and we feel very detoxed and cleansed after the dinner. Great service and good tempo, and dog friendly is amazing addition for us.

The food was exceptional. We enjoyed eggplant, tempura vegetables, soba, a sashimi platter, beef cheek miju, and toro. It represents fine Japanese cuisine by all standards. I wished the service had been friendlier, but the quality of the food overshadowed any shortcomings in service.

So good - one of the best tuna I had, one of the best in Paris (but quite expensive..)

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere and staff. Incredibly expensive for extremely little food, however. Two tempura squash blossoms (literally, two pieces), a small appetizer of spinach and mushrooms in a dashi broth, 16 small pieces of sashimi (tuna, yellowtail, salmon) + one beer and tea resulted in a 110 euro tab. Often willing to spend a premium on quality meals, we were quite shocked when reviewing the menu and seeing the pricing of dishes, which are largely pretty basic. At that point we were locked in and couldn't leave our dinner group, so reluctantly chose items that seemed reasonable. 72 euros accounted for the sashimi alone, which anywhere else in the world costs half if not less. Even still, the two pieces of tempura in particular were somehow more bewildering. Yelp reviews don't seem to mean or matter much outside of the U.S. as the most recent one I saw is about 3 years old. Hopefully, this helps anyone else who happens upon my 2025 review.

Yelp
Had to get our rice fix in for the vacation, and came across restaurant Yen nearby the St-Germain Des-Pres station. After being seated upstairs we looked over the menu and decided to start with Miso Soupe, then onto the main course with the Saumon Grill, Black Cod, and Ebi Tendon (Shrimp Tempura). The Shrimp Tempura came with just the right amount of rice for the two of us so we are good to go for a few more days! Everything was just right with flavor, and was very appealing to look at. The service was friendly and quick, and since they are Japanese everything was done properly. Highly recommend if you are in the area :-)

Yelp
YUM. Yes- it's pricey but the quality and atmosphere was amazing. Very traditional Japanese- I felt like I was in Japan! The soba was delicious. The broth was delicious. THE COD WAS AMAZING. PLEASE GET IT. AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. I felt zen at Yen.

Yelp
Yen was a nice spot to go for a quiet retreat from the busy streets of Paris. Two levels mean there is ample room for seating and lunch service during the work week wasn't busy at all. I enjoyed the bento lunch special along with a sake tasting. Three mid-range sakes were featured with a good amount to pair with the meal. The bento started with a cold corn soup that was light and refreshing. Next up was the bento box, several small bites, savoury, seafood, vegetables and a salmon rice on the side. Sashimi was fresh and there were interesting bites like the sea snail in a teriyaki marinade. Last came the handmade soba. You can choose between cold and hot noodles. I went with the hot in a delicate broth whilst my partner had the cold in a dipping sauce. Both were delightful and surprisingly didn't need any accompaniments. Service could have been slightly more attentive with bringing and refilling water along with drinks, however they were pleasant overall. The decor was sparse and I feel the ambiance could have been heightened with some Japanese art as the walls were all plain white. Aside from that, it's a great spot I would highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a great place to satisfy your soba craving, especially if you want to get your new years soba. As others have mentioned, this isn't really a sushi joint, so you really shouldn't judge it as such. Their macha desserts are also very tasty.

Yelp
This restaurant is located right by cafe del flore and Louis Vuitton in the St Germain area. Amazing find. Lunch bento consists of an appetizer, bento box, soba and a dessert. Portions were appropriate given the four course event. Flavors are very authentic and delicate. Each dish was beautifully presented! The restaurant occupied two floors of the building. The service is also impeccable!!

Yelp
Great Japanese restaurant. I was there for diner earlier this week. The place wasn't that busy so we had a good table without any reservation. We tasted different meals. Sushis were delicious, very subtile, and so were warm mushroom Sobas and fishes. Staff was very friendly, even though one of our plate was served quite late. Finally, very nice decoration inside, I really felt like I was in a Japanese restaurant.

Yelp
Yen is my favorite Japanese spot in Paris. Try their hot soba with duck (kamonamban soba) and tender pork belly (buta no kakuni) with grapefruit slices and spinach. Food is not cheap but in line with other places in Saint Germain. (They charge for a small pot of green tea.) Service was attentive on a Friday night in May. Best to call for reservations for an early dinner.

Yelp
I walked into "Yen" because it seemed to have a totally different vibe than the surrounding restaurants and even most of the restaurants I have seen in Paris. From the outside, one can watch a chef beating away at a ball of fresh pasta dough, and subsequently cutting it into strips. It's the very definition of knowing where your food is coming from! It's a sophisticated Japanese restaurant with high standards and a price to match. However, the food is wonderful. I ordered the cold soba noodles with shrimp and vegetable tempura. There was also a simple sesame-soy based sauce to twirl the noodles in because they come dry on a bamboo plate. It was so simple, yet so delicious and light. The tempura was exactly that - lightly fried (not the deep fried stuff that so many restaurants claim is "tempura") the shrimp was so delicate and it melted in my mouth. There was no fishy taste or smell, only the silent snapping of the shrimp skin between my teeth and the wonderful juices inside. Such a perfect meal. I ordered the red bean ice cream for dessert and it was soft and tasted exactly as it should. It had that distinct red bean flavor but it wasn't bitter or overwhelming, OR too sweet to try and mask the actual flavor of the bean. It was one small scoop - the perfect size dessert after a perfectly filling meal. The only negative was the seating; I was placed upstairs in a corner, right next to a fire extinguisher and away from the beautiful store front and outside and semi-outside seating area. However, I didn't make a reservation so...I suppose I can't complain too much! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Yen as a change of pace from the plethora of French brasseries and cafés I have encountered.

Yelp
Great food and I highly recommend. Authentic Japanese food and you will be happy! A Friend from Japan turned us onto it and we actually enjoyed every bite just wish there was more. Left feeling happy light and satisfied.
