Where to Try 9 of NYC’s Most Luxurious Rum Cocktails | Eater

"Step into this moody Lower East Side gem and immerse yourself in a cocktail experience you won’t forget. Known for its creativity and respect for classic techniques, Ye’s Apothecary is the place to try the Lost in Translation. This cocktail blends Zacapa No. 23 Rum with the bittersweet richness of Mr. Black and Campari, shaken and served in a martini glass with a citrus twist. It’s ideal for those who appreciate bold cocktails." - Julia Gómez Kramer

10 New York City Cocktail Bars to Visit | Eater

"Another speakeasy on the list, Ye’s Apothecary draws inspiration from Asian medicinal heritage, serving up cocktails featuring Chinese herbal infusions. Our recommendation is the Negroni riff, made with Zacapa Rum and featuring a cloud-like foam on top. Pair it with something from the food menu, which includes sharable plates like mango chicken and garlic prawns." - Julia Gómez Kramer

Celebrate Lunar New Year 2023 With Remy Martin at These 11 NYC Bars | Eater

"Ye’s Apothecary checks all the boxes for anyone looking for a more intimate Lunar New Year celebration. It’s impressively chic, with a beautiful emerald-tiled bar and black marble tables. There’s an extensive drink list that has something for every kind of imbiber, from classic cocktails with a twist to premium liquors. A special Rémy Martin cocktail will also be served during the holiday. The food menu, like at sibling restaurant Blue Willow, features Sichuan-inspired fare, but it’s served here tapas style, perfect for sharing with a small group or a date." - Patty Lee

Google
A Szechuan tapas and speakeasy like bar, offering Asian inspired cocktails and food. The vintage decor and mood lighting really sets the experience. I visited twice, once seated at the bar for cocktails and the second to enjoy the full experience with food. Personally, I felt the experience at the bar was much better. When seated, our waiter didn’t really seem engaged and the food took too long to come out, hence the score. Nonetheless, really good drinks and worthy of a visit for the cocktails (and maybe the food, if you manage to have a better experience than I did while seated).

Google
Super cozy and intimate spot, great for date night! They were fully booked on a Thursday night, so make sure you grab reservations in advance. Every single cocktail is unique and delicious; my favorite was the Happy Together (clarified milk!!) and the Earl Grey Gimlet was tasty as well. The food was delicious; we had crab fried rice, chili filet fish, snow pea sprouts, salt and pepper fritto misto, and soft shell crab. The spice level was manageable but had me sweating. Service was friendly and attentive as well.

Google
We went for drinks. They were serious about having the table for 90 minutes and then having us go. We were there at 7pm. It was for five people, they graciously let two others join for the last 10 minutes before we were to leave. Paid top $ for my own drink creation which didn't hit the spot but their combinations sure do. Nice speakeasy setup.

Google
This place is great! The food is flavorful and delicious. My friend and I shared a few things. Neither of us had a drink so cant speak to the cocktails, but the ones we saw others order looked good. It’s cute and cozy inside. The staff is sweet, maybe a bit overly attentive at times but I’d rather that than be ignored. So glad I went and was able to cross this spot off my list!

Google
Went for a cute date with a table reserved. We were sat in an awkward area on high stools in the middle of dining room We ordered food and drinks. The food came in 2 minutes the drink came 5 minutes after that. It felt like they were just pushing us out as fast as they could. Drinks were good and food left much to be desired. The noodles were obviously pasta, had no chew, and the meat on top felt like standard ground beef from the store, just spiced. The Beans and Scallops were from a frozen bag. And the cucumber salad while okay tasty, but was cut in the worst way for eating with chopsticks. The service was sweet enough, but when we asked if we could slow down on the food after receiving our first dish so quickly, she said yes, but then it came after 5 minutes. In the end we only spent maybe 50 minutes there. Would not recommend, spend your money wiser!

Was able to get a table for 3 on a Saturday night with only a ~20 minute wait. Food was good, drink was excellent

Google
Food was pricy but decent enough. They don’t have signature drinks from the menu available. They said the menus they had are outdated and some items aren’t offered anymore. Service was pretty far below its price point. I have also never been served a gin and tonic with a straw before and they made a joke when I removed the straw. Again not a signature drink I just ordered a Bombay sapphire gin and tonic. So not overall bad experience however the staff and bar staff seemed extremely inexperienced. I am not sure if this place was bought out recently or what as I have heard good things about this place. And mostly about their now discontinued signature drinks. Overall I can’t recommend based on this experience at well over $100 a person.

Google
Ye's Apothecary: where the drinks are potent and the reservation system is... well, a work in progress. We booked for four through Resy, but Ye's was like, "Who?" Luckily, our server was a saint and squeezed us in at the bar before upgrading us to a table. On to the good stuff: Happy Together, 2046, and Sichuan Old Fashioned cocktails were expertly crafted. Appetizers? Sichuan Wontons exploded with flavor, Chili Filet O' Fish was "I'll-have-two, please" good, and Changsha Spiced Chicken surprisingly paired well with pineapple (who knew?). Friendly staff, perfect sound levels, and lounge vibes make Ye's ideal for dates or small gatherings. Love the place! We'll be back – with a paper reservation confirmation 😂 a must try guys!

Yelp
Incredible food as always -- every dish hits perfectly. One of my NYC favourites, and I'll absolutely be back again!

Yelp
Wow! So amazing! I have been wanting to try this place for such a long time. Definitely a cute date night spot or a good place to catch up with a small group of friends. The decor is really nice. The atmosphere is kind of dark and moody. The music was great and wasn't too loud. You can carry on a conversation over your meal and drinks. Yun was amazing! He was extremely attentive and helpful. He gave the best recommendations for food and drinks. I had the silk and sage to drink and a shot of baijiu. The silk and sage drink was blended so smoothly and the flavors married together really well. For the baijiu I got the maotai yingbin. I never tried baijiu before and was looking forward to giving it a shot. It was smooth. I would try a different kind next time. I was disappointed that the antidote is no longer being offered. I really hope they bring it back! My friend got the birds nest to drink. It came with a lollipop. She loved the sweet and citrus taste of the drink. There are so many great food choices! I can't wait to come back to try more dishes! You can definitely share the dishes with someone else in your party. I selected all of Yun's recommendations and they were superb. We started with the duck scallion pancakes. There were four pieces on the plate. The flavor was so good! The duck wasn't oily and the meat held up really well to the crispy pancake. It would be nice if there was more sauce to have the pancakes with. Yun recommended the black pepper steak bites and the supreme seafood fried rice. The black pepper steak bites were so soft and flavorful. I loved them. The supreme seafood fried rice was so flavorful as well. I also loved the fried rice. The place is dimly lit so I would say to just double-check and shine a light on the prawns to make sure they are fully cleaned. My friend got the Dan Dan noodles. She loved them. I also liked them. I wish they had more heat and spice. I think they could have added more of the minced beef, since there were a good amount of noodles in the dish. Honestly, I can't wait to come back and enjoy more amazing drinks and food. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Camera flashes. Camera flashes everywhere. This is what you'll see all night. I was super excited to come here, as I had been to a fair share of old Chinese-style cocktail bars in Asia that blew me away, and was hoping to find similar experiences here. But nice places like these don't go without getting blown up on social media instantly. Came here on a late Saturday night and we had only waited about 20ish minutes for a seat, which I think is pretty impressive. It helps that they have a 1.5-hour time cap, which is fair and more than enough time if you're only here for drinks and maybe a side dish or two. They come at you with the bill on the dot. This place is super fast-paced...for a swanky-looking bar, and my chair got bumped by passersby many times, despite having a decently wide walkway. I had the HK Milk Punch and thought it was alright, nothing memorable. But the alcohol was strong. Also did sides of the Dan Dan Noodles and Supreme Seafood Fried Rice, which were very average and pricey for the small portions. Luckily, it was just the two of us and having already eaten, we ordered out of curiosity.

Yelp
Such great vibes, service, and drinks! Highly recommend for a night out with friends! Got the HK Milk Tea, Bird's Nest and Bird's Nest Mocktail!

Yelp
Absolutely loved this bar. The duck scallion pancakes were delicious. A bit greasy but literally the best. The salted duck egg yolk ice cream was so yummy. Loved the flavor and texture. The tcm martini was so good. Definitely sweeter than I thought but I really enjoyed it. Vibes were great and I loved the decor. The service was also so great. Out server was the best. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Came to try a few of their many different drinks and most certainly this is the reason why folks would want to come by and try innovative drinks with an asian twists. Them drinks can get expensive (probably median price point of $20 for each cocktail or more). We also ordered some snacks to go with the drinks, such as spicy popcorn chicken, cucumber salad, sweet and smokey ribs, usual standby of scallion pancakes. The food was good and drinks something off the usual beaten path. It aint cheap since for party of 3 it came out to $182 w/o tips yet. Will we be back? hard to say but the ambience (dining room down the stairs) was very nice and service pretty good.

Yelp
Overall: C // 3 stars Interesting Chinese-centric take on a NYC-style speakeasy with eye-catching fusion dishes and a large menu of unique cocktails. I liked most of my experience overall, with competitive cocktail prices in the $20 range and tastes for all palettes, except for one which I cannot wrap my head around. (Duck Pancake: B) - $18 is a bit steep for this appetizer, but the usage of basil and cucumber really bring out the levity to balance the scallion pancake, nice bit. (Spice Road Trail Mix: B) - Love the balance between sweetness and the hearty Indian spice blend that gives the mixed nuts another dimension. I think if the presentation were a bit more catchy, this could be such a draw as this is a perfect bar snack. (Bird's Nest: A) - I don't follow the name, but Yuzu Osmanthus is a comforting blend that's mild on the palette, balancing fruit, floral, and acidity. (Fire & Peel: F) - Promising mixture of ingredients, but came out tasting exactly like a very strong cough medicine that's beyond unpleasant. It seems like the only guiding flavor is licorice, which when combined with alcohol as the secondary flavor, this is the result. Food: E Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: E Service: E Menu: +1 Overall: 3 stars Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Yelp
Get the bird nest they were amazing! They play music and nice decoration, service was great!

Yelp
I had an ok experience here. They sat us in the hallway with this tiny little ledge seating that was so cramped and uncomfortable. To be fair, they asked us if we were fine with this seat because it's all they had, but we didn't realize how tiny it would be. Our food plates would over hang on the little ledge table. The food was alright to good. The dan dan noodles were super ok - the noodles were overcooked and felt like spaghetti noodles. We asked for chili oil but didn't receive it until 40 mins later when we were done with our food. The place was busy so I understand the staff had a lot going on, but the service was alright. The chicken bucket was good but insanely overpriced. It's not actually that much chicken. The shrimp toast was good as well but super heavy. Also got a cocktail which was good.

Yelp
First things first the ambiance is great! Fairly loud music but still manageable to have a full on conversation. Great vibe and design. First dish we tried was the Duck Scallion Pancake. Nothing earth shattering but still very tasty. Secondly we got the Chicken Soup Dumplings. These are super delicious, nice thick dumping with a rich buttery inside. Lastly we got the Dan Dan Noodles, super delicious. Cocktails were alright. Overall great service food and ambiance.

Yelp
Ambiance and vibes here was what we needed exactly on a rainy night. The place is dim lit with speakeasy vibes and great music. The wait took some time but was def worth for the food. Ordered the squid ink xlb, pig trotters and spicy eggplant and loved the flavor and heat coming from the dishes. The pig trotters was gelatinous and had a silk texture and eggplants had that wok hay to it. Probably couldn't love skipped the xlb as was expecting more flavor from this. Was on the blander side. Service here was super quick and attentive with the water refills as well. Didn't get to try the drinks but def would come back next time for that!

Yelp
We had a great time there. The whole restaurant is tastefully decorated. The service is also excellent! They offer new Chinese foods and the presentation of the foods are great. And if you don't eat spicy food you can also ask them to be not spicy
google avatar

Nikita K.

Yelp
The food here is super yummy. Service and ambiance both great. The server was helpful and accommodating to make the Dan Dan noodles vegetarian for me. It was so good and flavorful and I loved the sauce it was so unique. All the food is plated so aesthetically as well. I also got the tofu dish and sesame cucumber salad. Both were good and seasoned well. The mushroom salad I got too because I love mushrooms but I didn't love the flavor of that one so not sure if I'd get it again.

Yelp
I was staying downtown for work and craving some Chinese food but wanted something a little different. I stumbled upon Ye's Apothecary, and it immediately caught my attention. My coworker and I decided to check it out and found a small, stylish restaurant tucked downstairs. The atmosphere was fantastic--classy without being stuffy, with a fun, relaxing, and slightly upscale vibe that struck a perfect balance. We ordered a mix of dishes, some based on recommendations and others that just sounded good, and honestly, everything was delicious. Not a single miss. Prices were fair--nothing cheap, but nothing over the top either. The service was attentive, and the food and atmosphere complemented each other perfectly. I'd absolutely go back and would recommend it to anyone in the area. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out because the bar has great vibes, but they also have a pretty decent food menu! For drinks, I had a Nightingale mocktail which was a beautiful drink but didn't really taste like anything special. My friend ordered the Bird's nest but the vodka sort of overpowered the drink so I wasn't really able to taste the other flavors in the description (but I am also no expert when it comes to alcohol so my palate may just not be refined enough). In terms of food, we ordered the changsha spiced chicken and dan dan noodles. The noodle portion was on the smaller side, but it was cooked well! The chicken was my favorite dish. It had just the right amount of spice and was soooo crispy. As someone who doesn't drink much, it's so nice to have a speakeasy with fun drinks but also a great food menu so that I can still enjoy the same space with my friends.
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
This is one of those bougie and intimate Chinese bar. The place is dimly lit and gives off a retro bar vibe with a slight modern twist. Please note, don't go hungry (the food portion runs small)! Go to have a good time and drink! We tried majority of their drinks and we were impressed by them all. Also, the all names of the cocktails had a cute/clever Asian spin to it. (Didn't take photos of my cocktails tho) This place is more of a bar that instead of serving your usual bar food they serve Chinese food/ shareable apps. We ordered: Pork Belly Eggplant Tempura Cucumber Salad Duck Fried Rice Scallion Pancake
google avatar

Sarina K.

Yelp
The perfect speakeasy for some drinks with friends! Plenty of creative cocktails to choose from! I had the early grey gimlet and it was perfect sweet and smooth! Service was excellent they were able to seat us at table for a walk in despite it being pretty busy.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
* the restaurant and bathroom are only accessible via staircase and is not ADA accessible* Ye's is a cool speakeasy restaurant. When you enter, descend down the stairs and the bar and tables are to your right. Their drink menu is a highlight and certainly fun. I had the Snake Charmer which was a martini like drink served with a sidecar of lillet blanc and soda. All of the cocktails sound very interesting and unique. I'd like to come back to try the earl grey gimlet. My boyfriend had the Sichuan old fashioned which was a bit spicy due to the chili oil used in the drink. The plates are shareable and not super big. They can make the noodle plates vegetarian if you wish. We shared veggie dumplings and then I had the night mark noodles sans the meat. My boyfriend had the mango chicken. All the food was good and hit the spot. We had fried Mochi with sesame butter ice cream for dessert - their only dessert for the evening. The staff were all very nice and happy to recommend items. The ambience of the bar is moody and classy. I really loved the decor and think they did a nice job of creating an inviting atmosphere. I also love the jade green bar tiles. This place seems to fly under the radar but is now one of my top favorite cocktail bars in Manhattan. Don't count this one out!
google avatar

Juliemar R.

Yelp
I love a good craft cocktail and thanks to yelp, I found this one to bring a couple of friends to for some drinks and appetizers before our dinner reservation. This place is very "moody" in the best way! Dimly let and fun environment. We arrived very close to when they opened so there was not a problem finding a place to sit. The cocktail menu is very interesting and it looked like there was something for everyone. I ordered an Earl Grey Gimlet and it did not disappoint. I am a fan of balance and I loved the way this cocktail tasted (not too boozy, not too sweet, can taste all the "notes"). The appetizers I ordered were the popped corn and the yuzu shrimp. Both very flavorful! I'd never had corn like that and was tempted to order more had we not already had dinner reservations! I come to NYC once a year so am hoping to make it back here again!

Yelp
With a friend visiting from out of town, we needed a place that would wow. Ye's Apothecary met that challenge beautifully. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. The atmosphere is classy, dimly lit, and would be great for a date night. Since it's a tapas place, we ordered five plates to share: scallion pancakes, duck fried rice, pork belly, garlic prawns, and yuzu shrimp. When I tell you everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, I'm not exaggerating. Standouts were the pork belly and yuzu shrimp. They were crispy and packed with flavor. 100% would order these again. Bonus: everything came out hot and fast. We each ordered a drink as well, which were a bit on the pricey side but not over $20. As a mixed-Asian woman, I'm so happy this woman-and Asian-owned business is thriving, especially with the abundance of competition in NYC.

Yelp
An Asian bar with baiju. I had the Hong Kong punch drink. The service was great and ambiance was chill.

Yelp
I was in New York for a short trip and after looking around I found this spot. The presentation and overall feel of the place was great! I went with a few friends and we shared the Dan Dan noodles, the dumplings, and the ribs. Each dish was bursting in flavor! What I particularly loved about the noodles was that it actually had a nice spicy component I highly recommend if you are stopping by. The drinks were also mostly good, I had the gimlet which was refreshing. However, the old fashioned was too strong. Additionally, the drinks did take a long time to come out since there was only one bartender at that moment. One server also forgot to place my friend's drink order, but it was quickly resolved by another when we asked about it. The service was okay, however, I did only see 3 staff members. Some dishes came out too early and others came out too late. I would definitely return to the location again to try the food and hope it was only one of those days.

Yelp
Walked in and had a little wait. Looks authentic to Szechuan style. Drinks were good. Definitely a busy night and super packed. Dimly lit and people were eating snacks while having drinks. Definitely a great vibe!

Yelp
Excellent, polite, and prompt service. Delicious bites, food selection for Sichuan lovers and non-spicy foodies alike, and great ambiance.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure it's a universal rule that great cocktail bars have crappy food. Therefore Ye's Apothecary is probably violating some major cosmic law and it's only a matter of time before Thanos appears and snaps half of us into oblivion. But until then, I will be content to enjoy a place that does both fantastic drinks AND fantastic food. Let's dig in: The Street Skewers will melt in your mouth while they tantalize your taste buds with spices not found in the Western Hemisphere. The Fragrant Yellow Beef will equally tenderize your tongue while making you give thanks for our four-legged bovine friends (whom we eat). Continue with the frequently overlooked Salt n' Pepper Fritto Misto, a nicely breaded (and not overly so) hodge podge of fruits of the sea. And if you're still feeling peckish (as we were), consider the tried and true Sichuan Wontons, which come swimming in a delicious, soupy chili oil. Libation-wise, we tried the baijiu-centric Red Sorghum, a tasty choice if you like China's vodka, and the more mellow Bird's Nest. Throw in the unapologetically sultry sexy Wong Kar-Wai decor, and you have a fab spot for girls night, boys night, date night, and really, any night that involves food and drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a hidden gem, with amazing food, unique drinks and a very cool vibe!! What more could you want!? I've had this place on my list for a while now and decided to come on a whim when I wasn't able to get into another restaurant nearby. I enjoyed it so much though, that I'm glad the other place didn't work out! I'm a huge fan of schezuan food and this place does it really well! Such a great selection of dishes, both small and big. My friend and I got the cucumbers, Dan dan noodles, and spiced chicken! Everything was soo tasty with lots of flavor and super well cooked! We came on a Thursday around 7pm and were able to get a spot at one of the side bars in the back! It was a bit narrow for eating, but we didn't have a reservation, so we were more than happy to sit wherever! Definitely recommend this spot and would come back!

Yelp
Strange experience. We had a reservation and had to wait a little bit after the host informed us that the party before us is staying their full reservation time (remember for later) which wasn't really a big deal. Drinks were aesthetically pleasing but not good. Ordered 4 drinks, and only one was decent. Ordered the Szechuan chicken which was pretty standard. Service was pretty bad. We waited a while after being seated before placing our drink orders. Then we were rushed to leave after about 30 min. The server was weird and brought strange vibes to our experience. They kept insisting we order more drinks and food within literally 5 minutes of getting our first drinks and dish. And again after about 10 minutes claiming last call. Meanwhile the reservation is set for 90 minutes. A separate server shoulder checked someone in my party on the way out the door. And when the server asked us to pay (mind you 30 min after seating) she had the audacity to auto select a 22% tip haha. It was actually kind of funny how bad it was, maybe that's their shtick. Overall, no bueno. I think I've had better experiences at a Taco Bell.

Yelp
Ambiance: the pictures speak for themselves. A cozy, dimly lit interior that really sells you on the speakeasy vibes. Despite tables being close together it was easy for us to hear each other. Service: Our waitress was excellent on selling us just the right drinks as well as the FANTASTIC dessert Food: everything was top notch. The pepper oil on the Dan Dan noodles had that KICK I need. Soup dumplings were tender and bursting. I have already forgotten the name of our cocktails. Honestly you should just try them all.

Yelp
Love the baijiu cocktails Gan bei!! I walked into the bar and got seated immediately

Yelp
Ye's Apothecary is amazing! Cute little restaurant, tightly packed and busy. The drinks are creative, the food is tasty and the service was incredible. Choose this spot to celebrate a friend's birthday and we all loved it!
google avatar

Serenity G.

Yelp
Lovely interior that feels like you're brought into a Chinese movie. While the place looks great, service and food needs more improvement. With the service, it was definitely a little slow and the servers were not as friendly. The server asked if she can clear the plate a few times when there were still food on it, while we were still drinking our drinks and munching on the food. As for food, it was mediocre at best. The servings are really small for its price and the taste was lacking; the crab and pork were sweet while the mushroom was bland. Drinks are good but nothing spectacular. Hope they improve as there is a lot of potential.

Yelp
Super good vibes, the wings were insane. Would definitely come back and get them again or try something new
google avatar

Puria D.

Yelp
Having accidentally cancelled the wrong reservation, the team was courteous (and we were lucky) enough to allow us to sit at the bar on a busy Friday night. We ordered the green beans, Dan Dan noodles, soup dumplings and the chicken wings. For drinks we ordered an old fashioned and a Shanghai 75 which were both equally delicious. The green beans, Dan Dan noodles soups dumplings and wings were all equally fantastic! Can't wait to return to NY and try the other menu items!

Yelp
Ambiance, cocktails and more! Love the dark romantic speakeasy/ish vibe here. The popcorn chicken is an absolute must if you are here!!

Yelp
Ye's Apothecary serves up good food, good drinks, and a good time! I came here to catch up with a good friend, and we both really enjoyed it. Ye's is perfect for both date nights or yappers in small groups. The ambiance is really casual and cozy. Our food came out really quickly, and thank goodness because I was starving! I looved everything we ordered, which includes the yuzu shrimp, dandan noodles, chili fried fish, and the mushroom salad/medley. Everything was packed with szechuan flavors without being overbearingly spicy. Portion sizes were decent; 4 dishes was definitely enough for the 2 of us to share. Service was super attentive and patient. Overall, had a really good time at Ye's, and looking forward to being back again!

Yelp
Loved this small cozy little restaurant. Reminded me of back in the day style of empire Era but with a touch of British colonization lol We ordered a bunch of dishes, the cucumber salad, the noodles and crab fried rice (a tad too salty but I expected that). Cocktail drinks were yummy and fun themed.

Yelp
This review is for their drinks only as they weren't serving food by 11pm on a Saturday night (but we weren't hungry anyways). When you walk down the stairs, a waiter will lead you to a table in this dark room that feels a bit like a speakeasy. The only window is the peaking partial window behind the bar, so the place feels quite hidden. I love the decor of the space that combines a Chinese flair with modern and luxury. For cocktails, I tried the Sichuan Old Fashioned ($19). The drink is exactly as it sounds, a nice spicy whiskey. Also love the details on the ice cube. There's a number of unique Asian-inspired cocktails with various alcohol bases. Nice date night spot; would like to come back and try their food next time.

Yelp
What an awesome cocktail bar with great food. I used to live in China for years, and it was so nice getting some Baiju cocktails and szechaun dishes!

Yelp
Super cozy and intimate spot, great for date night! They were fully booked on a Thursday night, so make sure you grab reservations in advance. Every single cocktail is unique and delicious; my favorite was the Happy Together (clarified milk!!) and the Earl Grey Gimlet was tasty as well. The food was delicious; we had crab fried rice, chili filet fish, snow pea sprouts, salt and pepper fritto misto, and soft shell crab. The spice level was manageable but had me sweating. Service was friendly and attentive as well.

Yelp
TLDR: Bird's Nest: 1/5 Temple of Heaven: 1/5 Service: 2/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 1/5 Ahead of my New York trip, I have been watching a lot of youtube. Ye's Apothecary appeared various times and the idea of Chinese themed cocktails was intriguing, so....I went. This was probably the worst place I went on my trip. Conceptually, I really want to support it. Bai Jiu cocktails are a great idea, an homage to Chinese culture; Baijiu is the most pervasive spirit in mainland China. However, the two cocktails I had....just weren't good. I tried the Temple of Heaven and the Bird's Nest (which wasn't baijiu, but was also not very good). The food I had was also not good. I tried the dan dan noodle, which was average. The fried tofu I had was saltier than...well, me after coming here. The ambiance is interesting, it feels like an old school Chinese bars from the early 1900's. The service system was odd. There is a person who will help you order drinks/food and then a separate person who stands on the side watching over them. Every single time, I had to wave someone over to order something. I hate complaining about restaurants because I understand the industry is difficult to perfect, but there is a lot of room for improvement here.

Yelp
Food was great, good mix of traditional and modern flavors. Was also surprised by how quickly they came out. Ambiance is nice. Massive upside is that it's not loud at all inside, very easy to have conversations.

Yelp
Easy walk in for drinks and excellent bartenders that can make you basically anything (ask for the antidote). Menu drinks are also very unique and very well done!

Yelp
This place is great! The food is flavorful and delicious. My friend and I shared a few things. Neither of us had a drink so cant speak to the cocktails, but the ones we saw others order looked good. It's cute and cozy inside. The staff is sweet, maybe a bit overly attentive at times but I'd rather that than be ignored. So glad I went and was able to cross this spot off my list!

Yelp
This is a great place for any time of night, with any kind of crowd - either a starter venue for filling up and getting loose, or a close-out spot for spicy food and a nightcap. And it's great for drinking alone, which is how I started a recent night out. Szechuan and cocktails are a magical pairing. I started with the Monkey King cocktail and Money Bag Potstickers. Sipping slow, I marinated in the exotic Asian ambiance and slowly sunk into spice-induced good vibes. The rum-based Monkey King was strong and just the right amount of sweet. When my friends finally arrived, I led the charge with an order of Chili Filet-o-Fish. The deep fried and spicy filets were like fancy, hearty fish sticks. Something about the murky underground luxury of this place seems to invite a mysterious solo diner, like myself. I will definitely be back, with or without friends.

Yelp
I found myself at Ye's Apothecary to catch up with one of my friends over some light food and drinks. While I have dabbled a little bit in the LES, I had never heard of this spot before - but my friend did and thought it would be good idea to check it out. You don't have to tell me twice when it comes to trying places new to me, so off we went. Ye's is in a prime location on Orchard Street - the curb appeal is modest but upon entry you're immediately greeted by aesthetics. The space is beautifully decorated with rich earth tones and dark woods; it's not a large space but they make good use of it and the bar towards the front serves as an attractive focal point. We decided to get both cocktails and food because why not. I started with the Bird's Nest which was gin-based and paired with honey and lemon. This was really good - light, not too sweet, and refreshing. For food we split the Night Market Noodles and what was a combo of seafood and vegetable tempura (I forget the name). Both were tasty - I wouldn't call either mind blowing, but they had good flavor and were enjoyable. Based on my experience here, the drinks trump the food. Service was good - everyone was super friendly. Note that they adhere to a strict time-limit policy; we were told that we only had the table for 90 minutes and they weren't joking - after 80 minutes they told us the next reservation had arrived and to (nicely) wrap it up. Overall, I had a good experience at Ye's - the food is good, but the cocktails were better and I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

Yelp
Mango chicken 10/10 delicious. Really chili-ey which I love and I was here with my fiance whom I love. Birds nest tasted so fresh and the vibes inside were really nice. Super valid date place.

Yelp
Lovely experience. My cocktail, Qi Symphony, was delicious. It was more savory than sweet and really hit the spot. It was my first time having Baijiu and now I have to look for it at the liquor store! I'll definitely have to come back to try the food here.
