YHA Newcastle Beach

Simply the best hostel I've ever stayed. I have done my 2weeks of road trip and writing this as this was the best one. The clean level, the staff level and the structure of the building was so great so you can meet people and hang out easily while you can also rest in your room with a silence. I met a few amazing people there who I still get in touch with, we enjoyed playing ping pong and have a chat in the huge kitchen! The staff were so welcoming and always give you some tips for travel, I met Ieva and Marie and both of them were amazingly friendly and helpful! Thank you for giving me such good memories, I would come back 100%.

We stayed at YHA Newcastle as a family and absolutely loved it. The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome straight away, giving us tips on where to eat and what to do with the kids. The family room was clean, comfy, and just right after a big day of exploring – the kids were thrilled with their bunk beds too!||The location is spot on – walking distance to the beach, the foreshore, and plenty of great cafés. We cooked a couple of meals in the big shared kitchen, which had everything we needed, and the lounge areas had a relaxed, safe vibe where travellers of all ages were hanging out. It never felt too busy or overwhelming, which was great with kids.||Overall, it’s an affordable and easy base for families in Newcastle. We’ll definitely stay here again – it’s got the perfect mix of comfort, location, and that friendly YHA atmosphere.

The location of the hostel is amazing. It surrounded by many beautiful cafés and convenient marts. The beach is literally just a few meters away! Mery, the girl at the reception, is wonderful — very helpful, always smiling, and makes you feel truly welcome.

Loved staying at this YHA. The location is fantastic! I could see the ocean from my window and fell asleep to the sound of waves every night. It's close to the light rail so it's super easy to get around. The bathroom and common room were clean. I appreciated having access to the storage room after checking out so I didn't have to carry my stuff while going to the beach for the last time on my trip. The staff were kind and helpful. The nightly rate was great - $50 for a bed in a room of 4.

Nice hostel in a good location next to the beach. Rooms are pretty basic and beds are pretty old but it serves the purpose and is what you'd expect for the price. The building is a bit old and can get a bit chilly but nothing you wouldn't expect this time of year. Staff were helpful with tips on what to do.

Good space to get some work done on the road, for a short while. Didn't take long until my peace was broken. Some travellers aren't actually chasing much. Some of us have been there and done it, and don't wish to be on either side. Fantastic building. Was pretty disappointed in the end. The town is beautiful and so many great Australians there and some really great businesses. Thank you for having me.

After staying here on and off for 6 weeks, I can confidently say that this accommodation is superb for backpackers and travelers alike. Clean sheets, hot showers with good water pressure, and a well equipped kitchen. Kind and dedicated staff. I experienced almost every room type the hostel has to offer and can vouch for its cleanliness and value. The location is perfect if you love exploring the city and the beach. Free bikes and surfboards at your disposal make for a budget-friendly fun. I love how low-key but inviting this hostel is too. Highly recommend!

Location is incredibly beautiful, rooms are too old although the Service is pretty bad as the pillows got hair all over it and the bed sheets were so poor quality as well as they got dirt all over it. Pretty sure that the pillow sheets and the mattress sheets were not clean and washed.
