Having read other people's reviews, I came to Yippee with the assumption that it would serve decent Chinese food at an alright price. However, upon coming, I should have very quickly realised that this was not the case, when I looked around at the demographic of the people eating there (not a single Asian person) and the colour of the food on people's plates.
I ordered the spicy pork mince lunch option, which was.... not spicy in the slightest, and didn't taste of pork, but rather... unidentifiable low-quality mince, with some form of gloop. The dish was almost completely tasteless, and frankly worse than most of the faux-Asian options in Cambridge college canteens, which cost less than £4 a portion. The vegetables had gone all mushy, the mystery mince was gristly and tasteless, and the "spicy sauce" tasted of very little - nothing like any of the delicious food I've eaten in various places in Cambridge, London and beyond. Furthermore, there was an unpleasant aftertaste of cooking oil in my mouth after eating, which I had to wash out with mouthwash - frankly, not good enough at all!
Also, this place seems to be completely mislabelled by Tripadvisor - it's absolutely not a "cheap eat"! £17 for a lunch option is not cheap in Cambridge, especially when far better (and cheaper) options exist here (literally one look across the road and you see the wonderful Kimchili, where I had a flavoursome and memorable Korean lunch for around £14).
I am only giving two stars because the service was reasonably friendly.
