Yelp
Yo Sushi was a total find.
I was in Alameda for a few hours, and super hungry, and wanted to find something tasty.
Yo is located in a shopping center, and by most accounts, probably a place that most people would just ignore and drive by.
It's a fairly small location, and the sushi offerings are fairly extensive for such a small place.
First off, I will say that the food was good, and perhaps it's considered good in the area, but it wasn't outstanding.
I found them to be fairly pricey especially during lunch, when one might expect prices to be a tad bit less than dinner prices. I noticed that they were doing a lot of to go orders, and not much dine in service.
The appetizer that I ordered was supposed to be wontons. We all envision things differently, but without pictures on the menu, I really thought I was getting something different than what I actually arrived at the table. Ironically, would arrive was better than what I expected, and I was super excited to enjoy it.
The wonton cups were filled with a combination of seafood, and the crab was pretty tasty. I will say that I love the fact that it wasn't the seafood salad that was heavy mayonnaise. It did lack some seasoning, but I appreciated the light wonton filled with yummy fish.
Much to their credit, the sushi roll which was a basic cherry blossom, was much larger than I normally find, it definitely was a pleasant surprise, and the roles were filled more with cream cheese, but the salmon absolutely was fresh.
All in all, the food was good, the customer service was super spotty, and frankly it felt like they really did not want people dining in.
Super pricey for lunch, but it's good food and there's not a lot in the area.
