Yelp
This was our first visit to YBTaco.
Service and ambiance were acceptable.
Prices were a bit high for what you get which we will get into now.
Now the tocos are another matter. I have eaten tacos all my life from coast to coast. From El Paso to Chicago to Palo Alto. I am neither an expert nor connoisseur, and I occasionally make my own chorizo burritos, and menudo. I can tell one taco from another and the taste and seasoning of those that are good and those that are questionable.
We may have caught YBT in Wayland on a "bad day", but the tacos leave a lot to be desired:
1. We each got a 3-tacos take out plate of carnitas, barbacoa, and chicken.
2. All 6 tacos looked the same, and all 6 were dripping broth like that of birria.
3. But the worst part is that all 6 tacos TASTED the same! I know since I reluctantly finished 2 of my 3 tacos, and 1 1/2 of my wife's tacos which she refused to eat.
Please be aware, the tacos did not taste bad, but they were bland. They were drippy and all had the same birria taste and texture. That's not an easy server mistake to make and the order was given directly to the taco makers in-person. It's the vendor's responsibility to get the order right.
I must say the corn tortillas were fresh and made softer by the dripping birria broth which made the tacos difficult to get hold of, lift and take a bite of while trying to avoid dripping broth on yourself. I can't remember having a slippery taco before.
For $29.00, it's highly unlikely we will go back, and if asked about YBT by family or friends we will reluctantly give it 2-stars. If questioned, likely 1 star.
Again, we may have caught YBT in Wayland on a "bad day", but the tacos leave a lot to be desired.
