London Restaurants That Surprised Diners: Michelin Stars and More | Eater London

"The chain controversially removed its traditional sushi counter from its newest sites, a change critics say strips away the brand's defining point of difference in the name of 'innovation' and has prompted questions about what the concept now stands for." - Adam Coghlan

Google
OMGG this place is just hands down sooo great! Service was so great! They're very friendly and attentive and gave lots of recommendations ♡ there was so many choices to choise from but everything we ordered was so yummy! The place also looks very aesthetic its like Im eating at downtown Japan! ♡ i definitely recommend and our server Sabrina and Sean was great I recommend this place and we will definitely be back!

Google
Best sushi we had so far and we have tried many places. Our server Alexis was really nice and her recommendations were top-notch. They do have a long wait time but we also came on a Friday night so very understandable. We loved the Lion King, Last Samurai, Ten Ten rolls. The appetizers were also fantastic

Shawn M.

Google
This is the premier sushi 🍣 spot in Boise! Amazing food and service! They're very accommodating for a kosher diet. They will customize rolls to ensure you maintain dietary laws! Very clean restaurant. The sushi preparation area is a well oiled machine! Its awesome to watch the chefs create sushi art.

Trisha D.

Google
One of the best places in the treasure valley area to get AYCE sushi. The appetizers are included in the AYCE. I usually get about 2-3 rolls here. Would recommend going with 2 first and seeing how full you are from there. This place does get busy some days so I recommend getting on a waitlist on yelp.

Rachel E.

Google
Incredible experience!! We were visiting from Salt Lake City and we were blown away by their sushi/nigiri. The all you can eat option was great and we were able to order appetizers, nigiri and rolls. Gluten free friendly! They had tamari sauce and made note of my celiac disease to ensure no issues. Great selection of sake and -196 seltzers! Can’t wait to go back.

Natalya D.

Google
Ended up waiting 2 hours when we were told the wait time was 60-90 minutes. We were rushed to order when we were finally seated because the kitchen was closing. The server made a few mistakes but they got fixed quickly. The sushi was delicious when we finally got it.

Tania S.

Google
Best place for sushi in Idaho. Sevice, sushi variety and staff is excellent! The price for all you can eat is great! The wait maybe long at times but it's because they are the BEST! Our family loves ❤️ this place.

Maria A.

Google
I LOVE sushi and I remember when I was asking people what sushi places they recommend to me in Boise, many of them mentioned Yoi Tomo. I simply had to try it and it definitely did not disappoint! The sushi is so delicious and savory. I could just melt at every bite~ The miso soup is good too! The servers are friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have patiently. I literally tell anyone who will listen about this place because the sushi is that good. Of course, I am not a sushi expert, but I personally think it is the best sushi place in Boise. I recommend calling an hour ahead to reserve a table as it is a popular place to eat, so keep that in mind!

Denise L.

Yelp
Went on a Tuesday night, line was out the door. Such a big building that makes it take a long time to recieve your order. Cant imagine what this is like on a Friday/Saturday night. Nice staff though. Food is more catered towards people who like the fried/baked options for rolls, not very many fresh ones. Only sushi spot around that is ok which makes it kinda worthwhile, and people in Idaho dont have much to compare to

Siara G.

Yelp
Super busy, service a little slow.. but still spot on! The best in Boise! I've lived in Hawaii and been to other spots.. would recommend!

Violet S.

Yelp
awesome sushi i really like that they have all you can eat sushi bc the sashimi is gas
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
This review is based on a to-go order. I have to say the food was delicious, I got the Rainbow Roll and another one I forgot the name but it had mangos, cream cheese and pineapple sauce. It was incredible, I will definitely have to come and sit down to eat next time. Only negative was the hostesses were not very friendly they barely talked to anyone and when they did it was short one worded answers. Kind of disappointing for somewhere that looks extremely busy all the time.
google avatar

Pattie S.

Yelp
Make sure to make a reservation if you're going for a dinner hour. And the all you can eat makes fiscally sense if you can eat 3+ rolls. Overall great selection of rolls. Nice cuts of fish and good rice ratio. Ambiance is BUSY. It's hard to hear the person next to you. But totally worth it

Yelp
My sister and I were going to an event the Morrison center tonight so we wanted to have dinner somewhere close to it. Yoi Tomo sounded like the perfect place to get our night started. We did arrive before the chaos started. Walked in and got sat right away. I love the vibe of this joint! It's busy with customers, food is being pushed out left and right and employees hustling to their tables. The decor is bright and fun, makes the tone of your dining experience light and fun. It also makes me happy to see local joints staying busy and prosperous! Michelle took care of us tonight. She's very sweet and cute. Drinks were started while we looked over the menu. I did look at home online but after going over the menu in person, I thought I knew what I wanted. That changed, everything sounded so good! They have too many options so it was hard to narrow it down to one roll. I ended up ordering some miso, inari and the Anger Management roll. My sister ordered the Blade Runner roll and some Katsudon. We wanted to share a little of everything. I love love love their miso here. It's hot! It's salty! It has bits of nori and tofu! And they give you a beautiful helping of it. It is so good! The inari was delicious. It's not overly stuffed with rice but I did remove some of it. I just like a little rice in it. The Anger Management roll was tasty! It does have spicy crab in it but wasn't spicy at all. I love the sauces that they topped the roll with. I think next time I'm going to add cucumber to the roll to add some extra texture to it. The Blade Runner was fresh and clean tasting. The outside pieces didn't really have the garlic butter taste to it. But once you got the middle pieces, the garlic butter was prominent. The ebi on the roll was so fresh. It was definitely a good roll. The katsudon was crunchy and savory. It came with a side of sauce that added extra flavor to it. Honestly, it would be so much better with curry sauce. I'm going to see if that's an option next time. That would be killer. Sara ended up finishing our service tonight. She was sweet and got a birthday dessert for my sister. I wanted to start my sister's birthday weekend off tonight as well as our planned event. She got a nice scoop of red bean ice cream with a cutie birthday candle. Sara and Michelle did a great job taking care of us tonight. I have come to the conclusion that most sushi joints in town don't add a lot of acid to their sushi rice. I'm very harsh at rating sushi due to working at a sushi joint for over 15 years. But, I have to let it go expecting that kind of acidity. So, just judging the kind of sushi they serve, it was really good! The seafood was fresh. The sauces were savory. The rice was prepared perfectly. And the miso was fabulous I will have to try their all you can eat next time. Some of their appetizer options sound tasty. What we had tonight was fantastic. I look forward to coming back trying some more rolls from this joint.
google avatar

Lea G.

Yelp
The only sad part about coming here is the wait time, if it's a weekend night good luck. You most likely will have a wait time of over an hour. However, once you're seated the food comes pretty quick. All you can eat sushi is definitely the best bang for your buck. I do really enjoy the service and sushi here and would recommend!!
google avatar

Riley O.

Yelp
From CA ... this is one of the best spots especially for the price & quality in the treasure valley. They get packed out but you can put your name in via online. Very good, we come here all the time & love it

Abby F.

Yelp
Amazing staff, they handle the stress and volume well! It's always busy and the sushi has always been the best in the valley. Really allergy friendly!!
google avatar

Yelp
This might be the best AYCE Sushi place I've ever been too. I wanted steak, but the husband was in the mood for sushi, and that never happens. EVER. So, I was like "I can have steak tomorrow". And that's how we made our way to Yoi Tomo. We arrived later than we should have so we had to rush dinner (Which lead to a plate of leftovers and ordering more than we could have) BUT it was was all great, and we will 100% be back. If you do go on a weeknight- there was almost none of the wait times everyone warns about. I get why it's a hit. The formula is pretty simple, most of the rolls have the same ingredients with just a different sauce or set up to make it "different enough" that it's not the exact same bite in each special roll. We got 7 rolls, and that was definitely too many for the two of us- but we got Iron Man, Tomb Raider, The Rock, GI Joe, Black Panther, Spicy Tuna and Ten Ten. I have to ask for no avocado, and they happily obliged. We also had the shrimp tempura, and that's another winner. I want to come back, spend a longer time, and not order as much (or come with people so we can try their items) but I definitely will come back, especially for the price- just don't over order like we did or you will end up paying for your extras.

Yelp
This is a family favorite sushi restaurant in Boise. You can't beat all you can eat. The rolls are big and flavorful. A lot of options. Great appetizers. Something for everyone. Good unfiltered sake too.
google avatar

Teia S.

Yelp
Love the deep fried rolls. My family loves the all you can eat sushi. Friendly service. Dinner time can be a big wait.
google avatar

Mandi S.

Yelp
Review update!! We've been back multiple times since our first visit. We probably won't be back. Service was great, idea is great. Actual AYCE is lacking. So much sauce and the combinations of rolls are all nearly the same just changed a bit here and there. It just was not worth the wait to get sub par flavors.

Yelp
Go here all the time, great food and oddly great option with kids for the all you can eat including the appetizers.

Yelp
Offers AYCE and is in a nice area which good decor. Sushi is mid tier quality but one of the only AYCE places
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Full Montey, Mad Max, & The New T-Rex roll. Awesome !! Actually there are a lot of great rolls to choose from the Valcano, sixth sense, & anger, management are a few more of my Favorites. The jalapeño bombs are the bomb.. The service there is a hit and miss. Sometimes it's great. sometimes it's not so great. I think they get a lot of turnover on servers.. The Sushi always makes up for any lack of service. We've seen Yoi Tomo expand four times now. That should tell you all you need to know.

Emily N.

Yelp
A family favorite, been coming for years! Clean, love the expansion, sushi is amazing

Yelp
I have eaten at Yoi Tomo many times, and it's always been good. So good that I decided to order takeout of their Don Katsu. First red flag was when we arrived at the suggested time and the takeout box was cold. When we got home I opened the box and was met with burnt bits of breading. Maybe 25% of it was edible, including the rice. There's no email to contact, and no "please rate your experience" on the receipt so I have no way of contacting them for a refund or any other way of fixing it. If you decide to spend your money here, do it in person. Don't waste your time with takeout
google avatar

Davina D.

Yelp
You add yourself to a waitlist on yelp, and can't wait inside to be called. It's a small location, but it's also cold outside. The staff up front is relatively rude and doesn't seem to want to be there. When it was our time, we waiting in the lobby and there's quite a bit of chaos in there. The interior is small, packed, and poorly organized. The tables are ok, not overly clean. Our waitress was good. She was quick, but she was handling the entire restaurant on her own, and she was running around a lot. The food was a disappointed. The Korean ramen lacked all flavor, and seemed like a packet of Maruchan noodles. The sushi was ok? It lacked flavor or originality. It seemed like grocery store sushi. I did not try the tempura we ordered, so I can't comment on that. Maybe that's the magic meal. I would not come back.
google avatar

Yoonwa S.

Yelp
It was okay. All you can eat for $34. Eat 3 rolls and it's worth it. Service was good. Nice lively place in downtown with ample natural light.
google avatar

Brendan B.

Yelp
Best sushi i've had. Fresh fish, good service, reasonable price for what you get for sure!

Michael D.

Yelp
Good fresh sushi. Lots of variety and apps included in the AYCE sushi. Parking can be tricky but it's worth it
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
I agree with all the other Yelpers this place is great! My best meal yet in Boise. My absolute favorite crab and cucumber salad!
google avatar

Kris H.

Yelp
Came to Boise to visit some family again and this is still the best sushi I've had even compared to LA standards! 32.99 for all you can eat and let me just say, please go this route because their sushi is INCREDIBLE! Servers are always very friendly and it may take a while to get seated or wait on the waitlist, but it is absolutely worth it and truly the best sushi in Boise!
google avatar

Kimberly R.

Yelp
All You Can Eat Sushi Heaven! I love a good all-you-can-eat sushi spot, and this one really delivers. The fact that appetizers are included? Total game changer. The rolls are not only delicious but also super fun -- they're named after movies, which adds a playful twist. My go-to is the Gladiator roll, hands down. I went with a friend this time, but I can't wait to bring my husband and kids next -- I know they'll love it too. The staff is wonderful, and everyone made us feel right at home. Pro tip: try to go around lunchtime if you can -- it gets pretty busy during dinner hours!
google avatar

Alaina K.

Yelp
Not all avocado rolls are created equal- that's what I learned at Yoi Tomo. I rarely get to eat at a sushi place because of my food allergies, but this place was so accommodating! Staff was super friendly as well.
google avatar

Drew M.

Yelp
Any place that has people 20 deep waiting to get in for lunch has to be good, so excited to try it! We sat at the sushi bar, were served immediately and had 3-4 special rolls for lunch. The fish was fresh, the presentation excellent and service was impressive. For the quality you get, pricing is super great. Why did I wait 6 years to eat here, no clue...easily the best sushi spot in Boise and the Treasure Valley! Go, and if you're hungry, they have all you can eat.
google avatar

Kurt C.

Yelp
Super accommodating to a shellfish allergy we had in a group, making sure that there was no accidental contamination or other mix ups. Having an all you can eat deal for $33 makes it so that you can try the more expensive or exotic rolls with no worry, and we definitely got our moneys worth! There was a bit of a wait time, as the restaurant is always pretty packed full of people with the smell of delicious sushi reaching out to the street, so make sure to join the waitlist through Yelp ahead of time.

Yelp
Went here yesterday with my cousin and we waited 3 hours to get inside. They kept bumping up our times saying they were "busier than usual". 3 hours later we finally got in and we got seated. The food was good except one roll. I swear something was rotten in it. Me and my cousin both tried it and it completely took away our appetite. It almost made my cousin throw up. Our waiter took about 20 minutes just to get me spicy mayo and then about 30 more minutes to come check on us when we were done. I'd say it was about a total of 5 hours in Boise. We complained to our server and he didn't believe us. He said something like "I doubt there's anything wrong with the role but I'm still gonna charge you for leftovers" We got the all you can eat. DO NOT ORDER THE 'Iron man' ROLL
google avatar

Cubby C.

Yelp
Best sushi in Boise! Servers are kind and active in taking new orders, describing the rolls, and checking in as you eat.

Lexi M.

Yelp
Best sushi in boise!! Seared salmon and inception roll always a go to! Bring a group of friends for the best bang for your buck at all you can eat!

Christopher L.

Yelp
Best sushi and amazing all you can eat price. Anytime I want sushi. This is where we go. You can't beat it. Previous San Diego local so I know food!
google avatar

Christine W.

Yelp
You Tomo remains my favorite sushi spot in treasure valley Takes me 50 minutes to get here from Fruitland but is so worth it!! The Staff are all so wonderful
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Our second time coming here. The first time was several months ago and we were hesitant to have the all you can eat sushi. Parker was our sever and he explained the AYCE includes all appetizers, Nigeri and all rolls on the menu. We started with edamame and added spice to it. Pretty good. Also ordered shrimp tempura. They were slender but very tasty. We ordered the Anger Management and Lion King rolls to start. Both were amazing. Parker suggested the Rush Hour roll, so we ordered that next along with another Anger Management roll. The Rush Hour roll is now on our fav list. Another order of shrimp tempura and an Anger Management roll (yes, we had 3 AM rolls!), and we were D-done. Service was awesome, food outstanding and we had a great time. Thank you Yoi Tomo for a great dining experience.
google avatar

Kate O.

Yelp
I enjoyed a quick little stop in to Yoi Tomo during my visit to Boise for work. The hosts seated me quickly (I decided to sit at the bar as I was dining solo) and my server was right on top of getting me drinks right away. I got the regular menu first but then when I was ordering and mentioned needing gluten free food my server brought me back a different menu that had been marked with all the gluten free items which was very helpful! I ordered nigiri which each came with three pieces which was unexpected as usually you only get two with nigiri. I also ordered a multi-dish roll with lemon and avocado. Everything tasted fresh and had good texture. The portions of wasabi and ginger they gave me were spot on, which again was nice as often times restaurants will skimp out on those things. Overall I had a really nice, easy experience here.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Great sushi spot in Boise! Sabrina was an excellent server who went above and beyond for us with a dietary restriction! Will be back. Anger Management was the best roll
google avatar

Sandi P.

Yelp
We had a TERRIFIC waiter tonight. His name is Justin and he pointed out some new rolls to us. The food here is truly the best I've ever had. The preparations on the sushi are done perfectly as far as I'm concerned. Yoi Tomo is our "celebration" dinner restaurant and when I have a choice Yoi Tomo sushi ALWAYS gets my vote
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Wait time kept extending. Started at 1 hour and ultimately extended beyond 2 hours. No option to reserve a table. They need to figure out how to sit people on a weekend.
google avatar

Janelle A.

Yelp
BEST SUSHI in Treasure Valley!!! Yoi Tomo has been our "Go to" sushi place. It's SO GOOD! Always great customer service! Date night with the hubby on Friday afternoon. We had the pleasure of Brandon serving us! We've known him from different times we've come in. He, truly is such a great server super friendly and takes great care of you while you're there! When you have service like that makes you want to keep coming back! Definitely, a busy place! My suggestion would be to use the online reservations wait list for Friday, Saturday evenings! it's easy and helpful! If you're in the downtown Boise area and in the mood for some really good sushi this is the place to come to!! Happy customers all the time!!
google avatar

Taylor H.

Yelp
I consider myself a bit of a sushi snob and struggled to find some great sushi in Idaho but look no further! Yoi Tomo's sushi is so fresh and the service is fairly quick for how busy it can get. I highly recommend going during the week to try and avoid the weekend rush as it can get pretty busy. I got the all you can eat sushi which includes appetizers, standard rolls and specialty rolls. My favorite roll by far was the anger management roll and of course the classic rainbow roll paired with a Sapporo. The tempura is one of my favorite appetizers and tasted very fresh and not greasy. Lastly, the restaurant was very trendy with its aesthetic Japanese decor and vibrant pops of color. Very clean and buzzing with activity. Overall, highly recommend to any sushi lover and I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Benton O.

Yelp
We love AYCE sushi!! We come here all the time for date night and haven't found a better AYCE place
google avatar

Wayne Z.

Yelp
The sushi is fresh and tasty. Service is outstanding and very Japanese feeling inside the restaurant.
google avatar

Evann S.

Yelp
very good sushi large variety to choose from, but the best part of the experience was the vibe that the place had. so many cool decorations in the restaurant. and to top it off the staff was so fast and kind.
google avatar

Alissa F.

Yelp
Went on a Friday evening around 8:30 PM and what I would consider to be past dinner rush. The place was busy and lots of people waiting to get seated. They offer the convenience of adding your party to the the waiting list online, and even give updates on the expected wait times. The AYCE sushi price seemed reasonable (approximately $31.99) but not really necessary for me since I wasn't too hungry. Lots of sushi roll options, that it was hard for me to decide. My server Abby suggested the French kiss (not bad) and I ordered one of the (2 pcs) yellow tail. I'm from Seattle, and somewhat of a seafood snob, but I'm in Boise (land locked state) so I didn't expect too much. The food was good all things considering. Service was great, and food came out fast.
google avatar

Demetreus T.

Yelp
From the islands and moved here about 10 years ago. For Idaho, this place is great and the sushi isn't bad at all. 8.5/10 for sure love the interior as well. The service is amazing and doesn't take too long to wait for an order!
google avatar

Luke M.

Yelp
For a first timer of having sushi I would say it was fantastic. Growing up having a stigma of not liking sushi cause you've never really tried it is a big thing. But I went out on a date here with my lady friend, and tried California roll, a Jumanji and a veggie roll. It was all so good I ended up coming back. Great service and environment! Highly recommend
google avatar

Jacob T.

Yelp
This place was fuckin amazing and I will come back to Boise just for they bomb ass sushi plus they do an all you can eat which was badass the waitresses were hot and sweet and told very good care of us food was a 10 the help I give a 8
google avatar

Alison C.

Yelp
I love Yoi Tomo, everything is amazing! The only thing to watch out for is if you dine in, depending on the time you better sign up on the waitlist. I tried to walk in for Saturday dinner and the wait was two hours (luckily was shorter because I was just one person and could wait for a bar seat). It was a little crowded because there are so many people, but I think it adds to the atmosphere. The decorations inside are really nice and unique to the Boise area because I haven't seen as many Asian restaurants around here yet. It seems a lot of people come for the AYCE so the fact they are busy helps you pace between sushi rounds, otherwise it would feel long. Be ready to take your time and enjoy your food. All of the staff are really friendly and helpful. Price is good for what you get, and I love the takeout special for four rolls. The menu can be really overwhelming because there are so many different rolls but it does entice for repeat visits since you can't finish it all in one go. My favorites so far include the Blue Hawaii (garlic butter sauce is unqiue for a sushi roll) and City of Trees (very refreshing taste because of the lemon).
