What a great deal for brunch! The food is good, the portions are massive, the wait is short, and it really just hits the spot for a Sunday morning, especially if you're craving diner food :) Yolk is a chain brunch spot that has multiple locations in Chicago and it's an excellent spot for it's consistency. This is the second location I have been to (the other was in Streeterville). There is an online wait-list that you can join before arriving, though we decided to put our name down when we arrived since the wait was minimal (even for Saturday 11am). There's a lot of seating inside and outside. A short 10 minutes wait, and we were seated in a cute booth surrounded by the bright signature colors of the restaurant, sunshine yellow, orange, and a deep blue. Happy colors for a happy place! Even the lamp above our table was shaped like an egg and a warm orange sunset hue. Love the thematic elements.
My partner and I shared the California omelet, as it came with a side of potatoes and two pancakes. Its seriously a portion for 2 people for the price of $17! We decided to add a $3 side of fruit to balance out the meal. Everything tasted wonderful, and we were so full after finishing everything. The only thing I would do differently next time is ask for less or no cheese on the omelet. It was a little too much cheese for my preference but I'm sure is a hit for those who enjoy cheesy omelets! They also have their signature hot sauce which was SO GOOD on the omelet and potatoes. Definitely give it a try!
Service was excellent and the place was clean and bright :)
