Glad we did wander into Yonder.
Strolling around Queenstown, we felt at a loss when our originally planned breakfast spot was unexpectedly closed- stumbling upon Yonder, with their winter menu posted outside, I thought their dishes sounded creative (&were reasonably priced-including side add-ons), with some hearty combinations of ingredients, so we decided to give them a try.
Walking in, the warm ambiance of the beautifully designed space, made us feel so very welcomed- Part café', part nightclub, the vibe was on the 'hipster' side, with unique artwork in funky frames, rustic plant décor, and fun graffiti, but overall felt quaint, homey, and perfect for settling into a both to chill for the morning.
Now, people may often people say, 'that was the best __", for something quite delicious, but I want to emphasis I absolutely mean it when I say that was the best flat white coffee I've ever had. Designed with a leaf froth, it was creamy & roasty; a perfect balance of coffee nut flavor with the milk froth. I found myself saying 'this is delicious', 'not really this is delicious' with each sip, heavily debating how many cups is enough.
For food, we split a chili egg scramble & jalapeno corn fritters topped with a side of haloumi.
The chili egg scramble was a hearty plate of well-seasoned scrambled eggs, over crispy sourdough bread-with a tasty sauce drizzled over top helping cut a spicy kick with a savory blend.
The fritters were a balance of dense and moist- crispy outside, soft inside creamy corn fluff-with a delectable jam sauce for dipping- They were a bit heavy, luckily we were splitting because I wouldn't be able to eat all three myself- I gave the bacon to my husband for his scramble and paired my fritter and eggs with the haloumi-which was very well crisped.
The plates were hearty- a perfect size to fill the belly without over indulging-
Their menu items all sounded delicious, I honestly took photos to remember some of their combinations to try to re-create at home (such as their specialty pancakes and stuffed French toast)
I wish we lived in Queenstown to become Yonder regulars. I highly recommend.
