Nestled within a strip mall, Yoonique Pho and Grill Restaurant may appear unassuming from the outside. However, stepping inside reveals a beautifully decorated space with a captivating modern take on Asian-Vietnamese aesthetics. The ambiance and décor set the stage for an enticing dining experience that surpasses the typical mom-and-pop pho restaurants of the past.
My visit encompassed a delightful array of dishes. The Cơm Tấm Sai Gon stood out with its artful presentation, boasting a generous variety of well-cooked meats, each bursting with flavor. The Bún Mắm, a rarity in Oregon's phở restaurants, intrigued my palate with its unique taste, although subtly different from its more aromatic Vietnamese counterpart.
We ventured further into the menu, opting for the intriguing Bún Đau Hà Nội. Priced at $27, this elaborate combination plate showcased vermicelli serve with fried tofu, fried ground pork, boiled pork leg, shrimp crispy roll and shrimp paste sauce --an unconventional yet satisfying medley of flavors that left a lasting impression. Please note that it does have a strong smell
Even the Bun dac Biet noodle dish proved to be a delightful addition, offering a tasty ensemble that complemented the overall dining experience.
The service was very good and quick.
In a neighborhood where Vietnamese dining options are scarce, Yoonique on 122nd is a good option if you dont want to drive all the way down to 82nd.
