"This Greenwood spot mostly specializes in sushi and nigiri, but they also have a variety of other dishes like Korean fried chicken, mozzarella sticks, and curry udon. They’re open for lunch and dinner every day except Sunday. " - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo, gabe guarente

I live nearby and recently decided to try their happy hour. I was surprised to find only three items on the happy hour menu – not what I would consider a true happy hour selection. I ordered the gyoza, priced at $6 during happy hour, but the regular menu offers six pieces for $8, so it didn't seem like much of a deal. Still, the gyoza were excellent and perfectly fried. They do offer happy hour drinks at decent prices. I tried the crunch roll and was pleasantly surprised by the delightful crunchy toppings. I’ve heard from friends that their chicken wings are excellent, so I’ll be returning to try those on my next visit! The service was fine nothing to complain about. The kitchen staff even greeted me once I walked through the door but I was the only person in there. Great seating areas and very welcoming.

A cool little hidden gem with quite tasty food and good service. 👍 Really good sushi, we just had a few items with a beer and sake but will be back to try more based on the first experience. 👍 Great service. 👍 Fair prices. 👍 A cool little bar area separate from the restaurant (which is where we ate). No sushi bar per se (made in an open kitchen) but it was fine.

Let's start with the good stuff! The vibe isn't terrible. It looks clean and smells good, so it was nice from the moment we entered the door. But it took a turn for the worse as we were seated.... We were seated as for from any light as was possible in the very large and well-lit interior. Big beautiful glass windows and we were seated near the restroom and the closet. The place was literally empty, so it was very strange... Maybe they didn't like how we looked? The server has no personality to speak of and didn't say 10 words to us, which was impressive, but not the right flavor of impressive. We ordered karaage, the YOPPARAI! roll, and the Genki roll. The karaage came first, which was appreciated, but every piece was smaller than my thumb 👎🏽. The YOPPARAI! roll was incredibly disappointing... I expected a big, gorgeous roll at $30, but it was a very small roll (not centered on the plate) covered with a pile of mediocre fish cubes. It was completely sauced out and a little spicy (not as advertised). It was smaller than the Genki roll, which was $17. The Genki roll was the most attractive entree by far, but still just not very refined and too much sauce. Had the service been a little better I might have been able to identify some value, but I couldn't find much as it is. YOPPARAI! means DRUNK! in Japanese and I think you might need a few drinks in you to really enjoy this place. Note: the chefs looked very friendly, but we couldn't even see them from our dark corner.

Yopparai has a large menu, especially with lots of different rolls to choose from. I had trouble picking only a few because there were a lot I wanted to try. The prices are standard - not too high, but not cheap either. The size of the rolls are standard as well. The prices for wings are now more than $5 higher than Sodam chicken's. I like sauce on sushi rolls, so I liked that they put a decent amount on each one. The only roll I tried that wasn't so great was the Seahawks roll. I would come here again just to try other rolls I didn't get the first time. The staff is also very nice, but we didn't get water refills once we finished the water jug.

Great food and atmosphere! Came in on a week night for dinner, the sushi was in great portions and the fish was good quality for the price.

Oh my goodness, we went for the first time on a Thursday and the food was delicious. The poor server was by herself working the WHOLE restaurant. She was running about but was gracious as one could be with two large tables with kids and another eight or so two tops. The food was delicious even though the kitchen was way backed up — will visit again very soon. Hope the server owner lady gets some help!

One word: WINGS. These wings are so crispy and filling. The sushi is good too, but the wings are the star for me. Food came quick, atmosphere is nice.

I'm perplexed. I've worked in sushi restaurants for years and have never eaten sushi as bad as this. Seriously. I ordered a classic California roll and a spicy tuna roll. By principal, these should be tasty and consistent as they are two of the most popular rolls. They were anything but tasty. The California roll: lacked all flavor. The rice to meat ratio was too much. The roll was small and overwhelmed with rice on the outside. This made it hard to enjoy any flavor from the meat on the inside. The spicy tuna roll: this has to be a joke. I ordered my food to go and the server told me when she handed me the bag that the spicy sauce for the tuna was in the bag. What?!? I was confused and assumed she meant there was extra spicy sauce on the side, but no. When I got home and opened the box with the roll in it, I discovered that the chefs indeed didn't mix the minced tuna with the spicy mayo, leaving it on the side. I didn't ask for that. Never in my life have I ordered a spicy tuna roll and it was a regular tuna roll - on purpose!! I don't know what they are thinking with that strategy, but it completely defeats the purpose of the spicy tuna roll. All things considered, I won't be going back. The prices were high and the quality was so poor. I wish them luck.

Yelp
How I heard of this place: In conversation with friends about favorite neighborhood eateries, a couple of the establishments at this intersection came up. Yopparai, among them. When my sister was visiting we made it a point to try at least one of these newer restaurants in our neighborhood. Type of cuisine: A fusion of Japanese and Korean cuisine, set in a bar, a space encouraging inebriation from the name itself, meaning "drunkard". Ambiance: From the mini parking lot in front, one wouldn't expect such a large space inside. Two stories, with loft-like dining area upstairs (closed the day we were there), the downstairs has plenty of seating for small and larger parties. The bar is off-limits to those under age, but is adjacent to the dining space. Televisions in the bar, mellow, intriguing artwork throughout and matching table settings give the space a uniform and comforting feel. What I ordered: To start, we selected honey garlic and yangnyum a traditional sauce atop Korean chicken wings ($22/order), then continued on to our sushi selections: Greenwood Roll ($15) - cucumber, asparagus, cream cheese, avocado, Sunset Roll ($17) - spicy tuna inside & tuna, salmon, avocado, tobiko, spicy mayo, lemon atop, and Crazy Salmon Roll ($16) - spicy salmon and avocado inside, seared salmon and spicy mayo atop. A Shrimp Tempura Udon ($12) rounded out the meal. What I loved: Everything was great! The udon broth was flavorful and tasty, the wings crisp and well coated, the sushi options full of punch with each bite. Why I loved it: The food was delicious, the space clean and neat. Cost: Average

Yelp
Tried to check out Yopparai earlier, but it was a no go due to the parking situation. This time I parked on Greenwood and we walked over (7/19/24). It is located where 105th meets up with Holman and Greenwood. Tiny strip mall that has a Jiffy Lube, massage/spa, Vietnamese spot, Mexican spot, and Yopparai. It used to be Stilos, Alibi Room, and Snoose Junction. Yopparai has two level indoor seating, bar seating, and a sliver of outdoor seating. Decent spot for groups to meet up, smaller parties have a meal, small bites & beverage while watching a game, chilling out after work...you get the general idea. The Homie and I got a collection of items from their QR code menu. Stuck with chilled water, passed on any other beverages. *Provided a sampler of their Yangnyum chicken wings. I snagged a bite and a swipe of that delicious sauce, The Homie devoured this. *Shrimp Tempura (5 pieces,$10). We both enjoyed this. Nicely battered and fried, I even ate the tails. *Chicken Karaage ($10). Enjoyed this too because the two pieces eaten were succulent chicken thigh bites. The Homie savored the rest. *Tater Tots ($7). Again, nicely fried and served with ketchup. *Salmon nigiri (2 pieces, $7). Fresh, generously sized. Definitely chomped that. *Two sets of Negihamachi (6 pieces, $8 each). Enjoyed that, fresh, and uncomplicated. Rice, hamachi, wrapped in nori. *Curry Udon ($12). I liked the bite to the two udon noodles sampled. Flavorful curry with a bit of heat to it. The Homie got done in and had to get a takeout box. Just hope the curry udon doesn't soak through the compostable box. Thankfully, it didn't, but would have felt better if offered a recyclable lidded plastic container. Nice sampler of menu items, with tax & tip was a little over $82. Pleasant service. A plus, we provided some Korean brand wet wipes, which came in handy during our meal and did not have a perfumy after scent. It was only their 11th day of business, but kind of empty for a Friday evening. Give Yopparai a try and help them get further established!

Yelp
The hospitality was really great but the food wasn't mindblowing. I loved the honey garlic fried chicken and the sauce that came with the karaage, but the karaage batter wasn't my favorite and the sushi we got kind of just felt mushy. I would go back for the fried chicken!

Yelp
Accommodating and nice for us coming in late, prices were sick and the food was actually epicness tbh pretty nice

Yelp
I went in this Saturday at 2:30. Open sign was on the door and the hours say they open at 1:00, but the doors were locked. Tried to get the attention of the guy inside at the bar but he looked at me and went into the kitchen. Don't know if this was an accident or what. Looks like a cool place and I've been excited to try it. I guess I'll try again another time.

Yelp
I will be coming back here OFTEN. Quality ingredients, and just great food. We split the crazy salmon roll, Seattle roll, dynamite roll, and Korean wings between three people and were all FULL. I would order everything we ordered again, but everything else has to be just as good. The wings are CRISPY and the sushi tasted really fresh. Ambiance is good - very chill place (would be good for a date). There is a little bar area too, which we didn't enter. I think the upstairs was closed when we were there. Service was also great. We did have to ask for water once, but I drink a lot of water at restaurants. Our server was otherwise great - she was very sweet and did check with us multiple times. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Sushi was really tasty and fresh. We always get the playboy roll which is delicious. Also gyoza was great and cheap on happy hour. Wings are crispy and yummy too. Never have had a problem with service but we usually go early during happy hour when not too many tables are filled. One weird thing is that we are never offered the happy hour menu- always have to ask for it. Definitely go and try them if you haven't yet- I want them to stick around!!

Yelp
Great service, delicious food and they have soju! We ordered Korean fried chicken, sushi, gyoza and seaweed salad. Everything was prepared quickly, was fresh and tasty. This is a great addition to the neighborhood! Can't wait to be back. We sat outside and it was lovely. The server brought us baby wipes for when we were done with the wings.

Yelp
Everything tasted amazing!!! The wings were fresh and meaty. The Godzilla roll was flavorful! Waiter made sure we had wet naps and were comfortable. We will be back :)

Yelp
Lovely family hosts. Amazing chicken. Sushi is also quite good for a mixed menu place. Nice decor and lots of seating for a minimall setting.

Yelp
I'm so excited that there's a place in my neighborhood that has Korean chicken wings!!! They have Manny's on tap, what more do you need? Actually, I wish there was more Korean food on the menu because I love it!

Ash N.

Yelp
Great service, great sushi, friendly staff, nice space inside. What more could you want?

Yelp
Still the soft opening but we had a really great experience and are very excited to have an awesome new sushi place right in our neighborhood. Service was great, prices were very reasonable, and the food was fantastic!! We tried a couple of rolls and some nigiri and everything was on point. Really excited to try some of the fried chicken next time some other tables had it and were raving about it. Highly recommend!!!

Ian K.

Yelp
Newer restaurant with stylish and clean interior design. House wings were terrific, a bit more sweet than spicy. Sushi was good quality, we got standard sashimi and relatively simple rolls. Negihamachi was my fav with good chunks of yellowtail and lots of sesame seeds inside the roll. Still not very crowded on a Sat night, and in a funky corner mall, so hope this space works out for them.

Yelp
Tempura was oily, tuna for the nigiri seemed to be the cheapest cut available though I really enjoyed the hand roll. Prices seem a bit lower here than other places but you get what you pay for. Seems to be a nice couple running this cute restaurant.

Yelp
Great new spot. Quality ingredients and really reasonable. Has the shrimp tempura udon - huge portion, clean broth, nice amount of veggies, piping hot. Also got the California roll and the torched salmon roll which had a perfectly fresh meaty salmon on top with spicy sauce (but not fully drenched which I liked). Go support these guys!!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible! Sushi is fresh and creative. So glad this is in my neighborhood.

Yelp
In the spot that used to be Alibi Room Greenwood. We enjoyed some sushi and drinks. Staff were friendly and brought Korean wings on the house, which were tasty.

Smitha A.

Yelp
Such a great new neighborhood restaurant. Best Korean fried chicken! We also loved all the different rolls we tried. Great Service too.

Tom B.

Yelp
This place is everything you want in a neighborhood sushi restaurant. So glad to have it nearby!

Cindy T.

Yelp
Wings were crispy! The rolls and nigiri were ok. Felt like the rice was not as seasoned/flavorful. Fish was ok. Environment is chill. Service was slow that evening, but the waiter was transparent about the delay.

Mia H.

Yelp
Delicious sushi and delicious wings! Totally forgot to take photos of the food though. My friend and I ordered the Yang yum sauce wings, the sunset roll and the new port roll - everything was yummy! They even brought a pack of baby wipes for the inevitable wing mess

Evan C.

Yelp
Amazing food with the best service ever! A family owned business that puts their heart into every roll they make. I tried many different rolls, great chicken wings, paired with some great alcohol which led to an overall awesome experience and I will be coming back again!

Al B.

Yelp
What a great find! The rolls were delicious and generously sized--the Godzilla Roll was a particular standout. They unexpectedly and generously brought us wings to try too, and I'm not usually a wings person but I must say it was delicious. They've done a lovely job building pleasant and relaxing outdoor seating. And there are not one but two wheelchair accessible bathrooms! We'll definitely be back!

Lily D.

Yelp
So tasty! We got the wings, sushi platter, and spicy tuna roll and they were all very good - especially the wings. The service was friendly and fast, and the space is nice and open. I'm so glad this restaurant moved into the neighborhood and I'd absolutely recommend it. Can't wait to try their happy hour when they start it up.
