Yorba Wine Tasting

After reading multiple articles about Yorba I knew I needed to visit. I am so happy I did and I can’t wait to go back. Went for Memorial Day weekend and they had a fantastic food pairing.

Best winery in the area! All of their wines are amazing!

Delicious wine and great people. Kelsey is frequently our pourer--she is always a plethora of wine knowledge and things to do in Amador County. It feels like visiting an old friend who just happens to make amazing wine and enjoys sharing.

Of all the wineries in Sutter Creek, easily our fave. Wine club is super easy, because you pick what you like. Wine is released when tasting as it should, not sooner. Kelsey is a caring and knowledgeable wine attendant. We love her! 💕

Among the top wineries in Sutter Creek. Well-balanced small batches, many with that rare hint of chalkiness. At $30-$35, these bottles cost more than most others in town except those at Feist, but those at Yorba are well worth it.

What a pleasant tasting experience. Had a relaxing time filled with neat facts and great wines. The patio is a hidden gem that can't be beat within the city.

Good wines. A great hotel/restaurant is right next door. The hotel is the Hanford house and the related restaurant is the Element. We liked it so much, we joined the wine club.

Wines were ok but nothing tasted above an 88. They were getting ready for the Friday game night and if we didn't already have a reservation would have probably come back. The house with the tasting room is cute and very homey. The staff was very friendly and great customer service.

Love this place. They welcome you like family. Plus the wine is my favorite in all of NorCal.

Yummy Yorba, YASSS! SITREP State HWY 49 which runs through Amador County has a very pleasant stop in the hamlet of Sutter Creek. Because within this delightful burg is a plethora of wine bars! In the aggregate, this coalition of the willing wineries, makes "The Epic Wine Crawl of HWY 49." While in the area to attend an private event, our small group checked out a few Sutter Creek tasting rooms. On the north end of 49, Nancy and Robert V suggested Yoruba as our first stop. An old house converted into a tasting room. The large front room has a tasting bar area and two separate seating areas. Out back is a small patio area. $5 a person got us a six glass flight and lots of smiles from our server. The fee is waived with a wine purchase. We started with a delicious and very pale rose, then tried their Zinfandel, Barbera, Syrah, Tempranillo, and finished with the Shake Ridge red blend. There's a small public parking lot across the street. Four max time limit.

Stopped in to the Sutter Creek tasting room after lunch to sample some Yoruba wine. We were the only ones there at the time so we had the full attention of staff member Ann/Annie. She made our visit very pleasant as we sipped the flight of wines and just chatted about the vineyard and wine making n the area. She is very much into knowledge of the area and wine in the Amador area. We found the wines enjoyable to sample. Not our favorites but very enjoyable and drinkable. The tasting room does have a very nice back patio area which you are welcome to sit in and bring food if you wish while enjoying their wine. Definitely worth a visit while in Sutter Creek area.

Let's start with the wine. Most, if not all wines from Yorba come from Ann Kraemer's fruit from her Shakeridge vineyard. Not only will you find the fruit in the wines at Yorba but also, the top, boutique wineries in Napa also use Ann's fruit, almost exclusively. If the grapes are from Amador County, chances are good that they are from that vineyard. Same goes for French Laundry. The wines age beautifully and in an era where wineries are churning out young wines, Yorba seems to release instead when ready. It is unreal the intense fruit you will get from a 10 year (or) older bottle of wine from Yorba. All that aside, probably the best part is visiting the tasting groom. You will not find a more knowledgeable, fun, and more interesting person than tasting room and wine club manager, Kelsey. If she happens to be there, your experience will likely be unrivaled in any other tasting venue.

My new favorite winery. Not my new favorite tasting room, not my new favorite winery in Sutter Creek, but my new favorite winery. Period. It's been a long time since I was this impressed with a wine tasting. Thankfully, Yorba is close to home and I am seriously considering becoming a wine club member! I couldn't help but fall in love with the place as soon as I walked in the door. A long handsome wood bar and an instant smile and warm welcome from the wonderful Kelsey, who as it turns out is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Yorba. Her enthusiasm was infectious. We went down the list of six varieties offered and each tasted better than the last. I usually get an "F" when it comes to attempting wine descriptions, but with Kelsey's assistance I was assured that my pallet is in line with the tasting notes provided and written by her personally. Every wine here is absolutely amazing. We had trouble choosing and finally went home with a 2017 Rosado and the 2011 Zin. If budget allowed, we would have walked away with every one. Folks, I'm not exaggerating. Try Yorba out for yourself the next time you come through Sutter Creek, or use it as the perfect excuse to go in the first place!

I'm totally disappointed that three bottles of wine I purchased there had bad corks! The staff were very gracious about giving me a different bottle of wine to try but each time I opened them at home, the corks just crumbled and the wine was bad as a result. I'll try once more but perhaps I ask them to open the bottle while I'm there!

We spent the best afternoon in the tasting room for our anniversary. The staff was so kind and knowledgeable about their wines and the community. The cheese plate was amazing as was the wines. We will be back again! Next time we are going with your dinner suggestions because your review of where we had dinner was spot on.

After doing some wine tasting at another local winery, we found our way to Yorba Wines to continue the fun. Rather than do another sampling, my boyfriend and I opted for a glass of wine. The lady pouring was kind enough to let me sample both the Barbera and the Zinfandel before deciding which one I wanted a glass of. I opted for the Zinfandel while my boyfriend opted for the Barbera. They offer a nice mix of both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have plenty of spots to stand at the tasting bar. The space is clean, bright, and modern. The staff were so kind and knowledgeable about the wines and what would make great pairings. We took our glasses of wine out on the back porch to enjoy. The next time I'm in Sutter Creek, Yorba Wines will definitely be my first stop.

A friend became a member of your of your wine club. The first bottle of Shake Ridge was good then we opened the Tempranillo which was horrible. The cork had a leak in it and let air in. Today we opened the Zinfandel and again.. Horrible!! The cork split in half and has wine marks 1/4 the way up the cork. You may want to speak to your cork suppliers or your bottler. Absolutely horrible to spend $35 per bottle and have it taste rancid.

What an adorable little shop. I was so lucky to get to come here for a yelp event and sit outside and try some special wines and pairings. The staff here was not only kind but also full of information. I enjoyed all the wines and and the atmosphere here. While I didn't get the chance to take any wine home (damn budget) I look forward to returning and getting to bring a bottle home. Everything here was balanced, delicious and well made. This is a great place to stop while wine tasting in the area.

Excellent conversation, layout, and friendly vibe. We really enjoyed tasting here and her local kindness. We stayed for over an hour but time flew by so we didn't notice. We learned a lot about the wine industry and process. Thank you!!!

Great reds available for tasting. Excellent tannins and fruit with spectacular finishes. This is a must when tasting here in town.

My husband and I came here on a Yelp sponsored Wine on 49 winetasting event and were treated to a top of the line experience. The tasting room is in a beautiful old building in quaint Sutter Creek, but we were wisked away to the back porch for a three flight wine food pairing: Rosado with salmon pate and Romaneco and Tempranillo, to name two. The wine was great, the food was delicious, and we met two of the owners sisters, who gave us the history of Yorba wines. Wonderful people!

Location and patio nice with misters. Wines were good. On par with region. Barbera above par and Tempranillo was exceptional . Server/host was pleasant when seating and then nonexistent. No conversation. No wine discussion or education. No water refill when requested. She kept going to and paying attention to one table only. We would have purchased/joined club if not for this behavior.Overall Experience lacking.

I visited this winery for the first time today. I was so pleasantly surprised how wonderful the wines were. Every taste was absolutely amazing! I had to join the wine club. Our pourer Alex was awesome. Very nice young man. My friends and I were very impressed with him. Great winery looking forward to my next visit.

Kelsey is a doll full of info on their wines but also about other things in the area. I am not a rose' person BUT their Rosada is crisp and sweet and will pair great when I make my cedar plank salmon. Will be back. Very friendly and there were kids in their tasting room.

Very enjoyable tasting experience. Reasonable tasting fee, waived with bottle purchased. While all the wines were really good, to my surprise, i fell in love with the Tempranillo. The tasting room attendant was very knowledgeable about the wines and the winemaking process for each wine. The winemaker clearly has it dialed in. This is a must stop when visiting the charming town of Sutter Creek.

I've been to Sutter Creek several times, and finally tasted at this location. Nice wines, friendly people and beautiful tasting room! I will be back.

Went here for a birthday celebration and the 7 of us had a blast. Lots of great info about the wine region, great wines and super service. You will want to visit here for sure!

This was our first stop in the cute town of Sutter Creek. We had a wonderful experience with the woman in the tasting room (we were there on 4/9/18). She not only told us all about the delicious wines (we really loved the Barbera and the Syrah) but she also was like an ambassador for Amador County sharing literature and information about the area so we could make the most of our week here. We bought two bottles of wine and will be going back to buy more before we leave. We love boutique wineries and especially ones that love to share their history and show their passion for their wine and their town. This was definitely one of those places!

DEE-licious wines. Luckily this was the first Winery we visited on our Weekend Adventure. It set the tone and bar really high. Aside from have incredibly delicious wine... we had the pleasure of meeting some of the owners. It is a family adventure. Susan works the wine room while her sister - the first female wine maker in California - works the grapes. Their Reds were knock outs! The tasting room and aesthetics are first class. The stories about their logo and family brands was amazing. We were there at Harvest time. Which is a great time of year. Luckily we missed the huge crowds so we could really relax and have a nice time. They are adjacent to the Hanford House... you must stop here. We ended up buying a couple of bottles. Susan was very gracious and generous to us. I got a T Shirt with their cool logo to remember this great day.

This is a great place to taste and enjoy wine. Kelsey is very knowledgeable about the wine. Their Barbera and Rosie are excellent. I bought a bottle of each.

While we were not able to visit the Yorba Tasting Room in Sutter Creek, we did enjoy one of their zins on two occasions at the Hanford House Inn. It made our "happy hour" happier. Will look for this wine in the future.

Enjoyed beautiful wines here with two of my favorite friends. We did the 6-pour tasting and brought home a few bottles to share with friends over the holidays. The warm atmosphere, coupled with the lovely, informative ladies, is terrific. Be sure to check out the art and hear the winery's story. This is the perfect place to start or finish your day in Sutter. They are also happy to hold your purchases while you tour the town.

Yorba makes some of the finest wines in the foothills, comparable to anything from the Napa and Sonoma Valleys at a fraction of the price. The winery is the brainchild of Ann Kraemer, who worked as a vineyard manager for some of the top wineries in the Napa Valley before establishing a vineyard of her own, just up Shake Ridge Rd. from where the tasting room is located in Sutter Creek. She grows grapes for some of the most prestigious wineries in California, but keeps some of the harvest for her own wines. There's a spectacular 2009 Zinfandel, a delicious Tempranillo, a great Barbera, and a Syrah that has to be tasted to be believed. They also make some delicious blends. The tasting room is in a lovely old remodeled house, and the whole operation is staffed by members of Ann's extended family, who are friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the wines. A definite must on any trip to Sutter Creek. (And one of Yorba's blends is the house wine of the excellent restaurant, Element, next door!)

This place is the best! Not to be missed if you're in Sutter Creek.

Just experienced Yorba's wines and vineyards at their annual "Taste Of The Ranch" get together. Walked all around the Shakeridge vineyards, drank excellent wine along the way. The wines are spot on, not overly blended and allowing the character of the grape to show. Growing and pruning methods are taken to the absolute highest level here, producing world class fruit. You can taste it in the wine and see it in the vines. Great property, love the family run aspect of everything.

Every wine we tried was amazing! I love that they are family owned and everyone working at the tasting room was so friendly and down to Earth! My husband and I had a glass of their Tempranillo out on their deck while listening to some great live music. We also bought a bottle of their Barbera to take home.

Stopped here on an Amador county wine-tasting adventure with some friends. Inviting space with a gorgeous bar. The Barbera is a crowd-pleaser, but being a Zin lover my favorite was the elegant Zinfandel. Haven't tried many Tempranillos, but if Yorba is any indication I'm going to start seeking them out. There were so many nice nooks to sit, we ended up sipping a glass and snacking on a cheese platter. Yum!

Very boutique wines - all of their wines are amazing - great tasting room - loved the ambience ! My favorite was the saddle back red blend- easy drinking.

We were in town for my girlfriend's birthday and decided to do some wine tasting in Sitter Creek. There must be a dozen and a half tasting rooms in the center of this cute quaint little mining town. We very much enjoyed the Yorba tasting room as it was very inviting and it's employee extremely nice and knowledgable. She had so much extra information to offer apart from the basic wine info given at so many tasting rooms. All of the wines that were offered were fantastic and all worth buying. If you're in town for only a short time and want to do some wine tasting, I highly recommend Yorba and Bella Grace.

On the way home from Shenandoah Valley my mother and I stopped off at Yorba in Sutter Creek on a friends recommendation. I am very glad that we did. Kristin was pouring the wine and we had a very enjoyable visit. The wines were just great. Mine and my mothers personal favorite was the Barbera. The tastings are $5 which is beyond fair, and they waive the cost if you buy a bottle. The day was hot, the tasting room was cool, the wine tasty and Kristin was so knowledgeable. This is a must visit while in Sutter Creek.

Awesome!! This place was great very friendly and easy going. The tasting room is very clean and has nice seating available. Their wines are very nice, the Barbera is exceptional.

Amador county is producing some excellent wine. Beautiful tasting room and great people. Try the Barbera or the tempranillo.
