Yorebridge House, Bainbridge, North Yorkshire, England - Explore & Book

"Having decided to open their own hotel, globe-trotting couple David and Charlotte Reilly almost committed to properties in France and, later, Italy. But when a former Victorian headmaster’s house and adjacent school building called Yorebridge came on the market in the picturesque Wensleydale village of Bainbridge, any plans to buy abroad were abandoned. It’s easy to see why they fell for these elegant stone buildings. Framed by towering Scots pines and set beside a river, they overlook a spectacular panorama of rolling fields, dry-stone walls and ancient barns.But Yorebridge hasn't always been as well-groomed as it is today. Having previously served a long stint as the headquarters of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, there was much work to be done transforming the property from an office building into a contemporary hotel. The makeover created restful rooms and a buzzy restaurant; another room sits in the centre of the village, a 5-minute stroll away. With Charlotte’s background as an interior designer coming into play, and plenty of period character to work with, the result is a truly cosseting country retreat that’s packed with atmosphere, style and good cheer. Highs Glamorous bedrooms, all different, with designer beds, gorgeous fabrics and high-tech sound systemsPerfect for a romantic break - the setting is sublime, and many rooms have outdoor hot tubs or freestanding bathsFantastic dinners kick off with canapés in the lounge; menus feature local specialities such as delicious Dales cheeses, Whitby crab and wonderfully tender meat Stunning views of the Dales countryside from the dining room and the upstairs roomsThe hearty welcome: you’re as likely to find yourself propping up the bar with a local farmer fresh off a tractor as you are with city folk dolled up in their gladrags Lows Bainbridge is one of the quieter Dales villages - for more entertainment, you have to driveDespite good intentions, constraints involved in renovating a listed building mean that some noise can drift through to the bedrooms from the barThis is a popular place and rightly so - book well in advance if you'd like a particular roomGuests staying in The Barn have a bit of a walk to the hotel's restaurant for breakfast and dinner, but it's not far" - Rhiannon Batten

The hotel is in a beautiful location and staff are very welcoming. The grounds are beautiful to relax in and our room was very luxurious and spacious. The taster menu in the evening was fabulous and portions generous. Staff made for a relaxed ambience and the dining room is a lovely place to sit. Pre dinner drinks were great too- presentation and service first class. Breakfast in the morning was excellent- we would have gladly stayed another night. Lovely walks from the hotel also. We will definitely return. Thanks to all the staff for a fabulous stay!

From arriving at Yorbridge, which is set in a beautiful location, we were put at ease and made to feel welcome. All staff without exception were professional in a homely way and we felt very comfortable. Staff were extremely knowledgeable about food and wine choices and nothing was too much trouble. We were able to see the wonderful seven course taster menu and each meal (including breakfast) being made from our seats in the charming dining room. The bedrooms we stayed in were very comfortable and the Bainbridge room in particular had double aspect windows out onto the surrounding countryside. This hotel is particularly known for romantic getaways and we certainly agree with this. Loved it, would love to go back. Thank you to all the outstanding staff :}

Great venue, full of character, beautiful surroundings, wonderful rooms, perfectly clean, great food, great service but....... RIDICULOUS DRINKS PRICES. £18 double rum and coke, £14 small glass of wine, £12 pint, £10 shot of tequila, £4 soft drinks. Take your own alcohol and mixers and avoid the bar. Other than that, amazing!

We recently had another fabulous stay at beautiful Yorebridge. We always say that a night here (or 2) feels like we have been away for a much longer break as we feel able to relax so quickly and feel that we have been so well looked after. ||The food is always amazing and the service is first class, whilst being unpretentious and friendly. |We’ve already booked another return visit to be thoroughly spoilt again!

As always arrived to receive a lovely welcome , complimentary drinks which we took outside to a new seating area on the banks of the river Ure. We then retired to our beautiful room which was stunning .||The restaurant food is always stunning and so is the service and nice to see that the new owners have kept the same staff and made some lovely improvements. Will be back as we have been going for over 10 years now . Love it . Such a beautiful place.

Our 2nd visit here. Stayed in The Barn last time probably about 8 years ago. We booked St Jean which was lovely, large bathroom & hotub outside. We booked 1 night on the ultimate experience package & 2 nights DBB. Unfortunately after the 2nd night there was an issue with the room & the hotel moved us next door to The Rahmoune room which was very kind of them. The staff are lovely & all seem to enjoy their work. Shout out to both Dan's for stunning food & impeccable drink service. Some will say this place is expensive but it is worth every penny & why shouldn't you spoil yourself once in a while. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with lots to see & do nearby. New owners took over earlier this year & are doing a great job. We have our loyalty card now so will see you soon 🤞.

Spent three days here during a wedding party who took the whole of the hotel and grounds for the event. The rooms were wonderful we had one with a hot tub outside next to the river. The food was first class. The service was amazing I would highly recommend this. They were so flexible. I even produced 50 bottles of wine I had made myself and they were happy that we consumed these along with the lovely wines that came with the meals. The food was splendid indeed. Tjr wedding couple had a marquee set up outside and the wedding was outside in the meadow with a band playing at night time. On the third day they even provided a bbq which really hit the spot. The wedding meal was amazing with locally sourced produce. The details of how great it was are to numerous to mention. A great whisky selections and the bar prices were very reasonable
