"Having decided to open their own hotel, globe-trotting couple David and Charlotte Reilly almost committed to properties in France and, later, Italy. But when a former Victorian headmaster’s house and adjacent school building called Yorebridge came on the market in the picturesque Wensleydale village of Bainbridge, any plans to buy abroad were abandoned. It’s easy to see why they fell for these elegant stone buildings. Framed by towering Scots pines and set beside a river, they overlook a spectacular panorama of rolling fields, dry-stone walls and ancient barns.But Yorebridge hasn't always been as well-groomed as it is today. Having previously served a long stint as the headquarters of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, there was much work to be done transforming the property from an office building into a contemporary hotel. The makeover created restful rooms and a buzzy restaurant; another room sits in the centre of the village, a 5-minute stroll away. With Charlotte’s background as an interior designer coming into play, and plenty of period character to work with, the result is a truly cosseting country retreat that’s packed with atmosphere, style and good cheer. Yorebridge House was everything we dreamed of for our intimate wedding and more. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely cared for. Fiona, our wedding coordinator, was truly wonderful, calm, kind, and genuinely devoted to making our day unforgettable. Her warmth and attention to every detail allowed us to relax and simply enjoy each precious moment. Every member of staff was exceptional, from the reception team to the bar staff and the waiters, all of whom treated us and our guests with such genuine care and kindness. The rooms were absolutely beautiful, filled with charm and elegance, and the whole house carried a magical, romantic atmosphere. Our guests were captivated, and the memories we made here will stay with us forever. Yorebridge House will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Just about to check out after an amazing stay. We booked the ultimate experience package with early check in and late check out, champagne and chocolates in the suite, pre dinner cocktail, tasting menu and wine pairings add on, post dinner coffee and petit fours, breakfast next morning. Excellent value for money.We asked to speak to the head chef as we wanted to compliment him and his team on the superb quality and tast of the food - for us it was up there with Le Gavroche, the Ritz restaurant, Raby Hunt and the Fat Duck. Wine pairings were perfect with each course. Excellent service by all team members. We stayed in the Greenwich loft suite, which occupies the whole of the top floor in the main house - a great suite with lovely oak beams. Soaking in the deep bath with hotel provided lovely bath salts, looking out of the window at the beautiful scenery was bliss! Would come again at the drop of a hat.

Booked to stay here pre-Christmas. Website stated “Dinner compulsory Friday / Saturday” which I took to mean Friday OR Saturday. We intended to dine on Friday as we have another function booked, supporting another small local business on the Saturday.||||Checked this with Yorebridge and, while I accept it’s a simple misunderstanding one way or the other, there was no discussion or compromise whatsoever - they simply stated dinner is compulsory on both nights as per their (debatable) booking terms and they would add £85 pppn to our bill regardless. I’ve never come across this from any other hotel before and was surprised at the blunt nature of the response, especially in an area with such competition for guests. ||||So, we’ve cancelled and booked another venue. It is certainly Yorebridge’s prerogative to forego an £800 or so spend for the sake of their T’s & C’s and keeping a small deposit, and I have no doubt the surroundings and venue are wonderful, but given the stance and quality of communication from Sophie their general manager, I feel like we’ve dodged a bullet and will have a better stay elsewhere.

We stayed in the Kariega room which has a lovely position on the river with it's own private hot tub. Room was nice, homely, clean with sound of the river in the background.||||Hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful.||||The restaurant is the star of the show in my opinion. We ended up eating there 3 nights in a row. The food was excellent - every single course we had was superb and the service was very good indeed.||||Location of the hotel is central within the Yorkshore Dales so very good location for accessing many of the hikes you may wish to do or villages you wish to visit.||||We will definitely come back here in the future.

My daughter and I spent a wonderful weekend at Yorebridge to celebrate our birthdays. Everything about the hotel was perfect. The style and attention to detail made it a very special break. We will certainly return.

Our 5th visit and unfortunately our worst. Now I say worst but it’s still lovely. BUT. It’s looking tired. Threadbare carpets on the stairs to the hot tub rooms. Our room (The Rahmoune) was also a bit tired. Cobwebs and flies. Also flies around the restaurant and bar. And lots of mess behind the reception desk. It’s clear that the ownership has changed and that extra bit of pride seems to have gone and it’s lost its sparkle. I would still recommend a stay but it needs that bit of love.

This has to be our favourite hotel, from the moment you arrive at Yorebridge it is just utter relaxation. The service is fabulous without being pretentious, the food is stunning and there really is nothing that brings Yorebridge down. ||We stayed in the new room and were asked for some feedback and the staff were genuinely interested in our comments which is such a good sign. ||We cannot wait to visit again!
