Yorebridge House, Bainbridge, North Yorkshire, England - Explore & Book

"Having decided to open their own hotel, globe-trotting couple David and Charlotte Reilly almost committed to properties in France and, later, Italy. But when a former Victorian headmaster’s house and adjacent school building called Yorebridge came on the market in the picturesque Wensleydale village of Bainbridge, any plans to buy abroad were abandoned. It’s easy to see why they fell for these elegant stone buildings. Framed by towering Scots pines and set beside a river, they overlook a spectacular panorama of rolling fields, dry-stone walls and ancient barns. But Yorebridge hasn't always been as well-groomed as it is today. Having previously served a long stint as the headquarters of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, there was much work to be done transforming the property from an office building into a contemporary hotel. The makeover created restful rooms and a buzzy restaurant; another room sits in the centre of the village, a 5-minute stroll away. With Charlotte’s background as an interior designer coming into play, and plenty of period character to work with, the result is a truly cosseting country retreat that’s packed with atmosphere, style and good cheer. Highs Glamorous bedrooms, all different, with designer beds, gorgeous fabrics and high-tech sound systemsPerfect for a romantic break - the setting is sublime, and many rooms have outdoor hot tubs or freestanding bathsFantastic dinners kick off with canapés in the lounge; menus feature local specialities such as delicious Dales cheeses, Whitby crab and wonderfully tender meat Stunning views of the Dales countryside from the dining room and the upstairs roomsThe hearty welcome: you’re as likely to find yourself propping up the bar with a local farmer fresh off a tractor as you are with city folk dolled up in their gladrags Lows Bainbridge is one of the quieter Dales villages - for more entertainment, you have to driveDespite good intentions, constraints involved in renovating a listed building mean that some noise can drift through to the bedrooms from the barThis is a popular place and rightly so - book well in advance if you'd like a particular roomGuests staying in The Barn have a bit of a walk to the hotel's restaurant for breakfast and dinner, but it's not far" - Rhiannon Batten

Just about to check out after an amazing stay. We booked the ultimate experience package with early check in and late check out, champagne and chocolates in the suite, pre dinner cocktail, tasting menu and wine pairings add on, post dinner coffee and petit fours, breakfast next morning. Excellent value for money. We asked to speak to the head chef as we wanted to compliment him and his team on the superb quality and tast of the food - for us it was up there with Le Gavroche, the Ritz restaurant, Raby Hunt and the Fat Duck. Wine pairings were perfect with each course. Excellent service by all team members. We stayed in the Greenwich loft suite, which occupies the whole of the top floor in the main house - a great suite with lovely oak beams. Soaking in the deep bath with hotel provided lovely bath salts, looking out of the window at the beautiful scenery was bliss! Would come again at the drop of a hat.

Had a one night stay and dinner in this fabulous hotel. We opted for the Bainbridge room which was stunning and comfortable with views over the Dales. Complimentary homemade biscuits, sloe gin and savoury snacks were well received. We also loved the full sized Gaia toiletries which we made full use of! There are lovely sitting rooms ( and great outside space) for pre and post dinner drinks. Service is attentive and friendly, we opted for some of the wines to match our food and we were glad we did as the pairings were excellent. Standout dishes were scallop, pig cheek, bream and venison. The bed was super comfy ( room was warm with the heating on so we just opened the windows) and we made use of the Nespresso machine for espressos in the morning. Breakfast was good with excellent coffee and the same lovely service. This is a real treat of a place to stay and we look forward to a return visit hopefully soon..

My partner and I stayed here at the weekend, after being gifted a voucher at Christmas. Set in a truly beautiful location, Yorebridge provided a luxurious retreat after an morning exploring the surrounding area. We stayed in the Rahmoune room and I was blown away by the beautiful furnishings and attention to detail (champagne flutes and a book on a tray over the bath, classical music on in the room, prosecco upon arrival). The hot tub was also a lovely addition after our evening meal. The service throughout our stay was also exceptional- everyone was very pleasant and you can tell the staff work hard to maintain the reputation of the hotel. ||The room was very clean, the bed was comfy and the linens were lovely and crisp. The food served in the restaurant was of a high standard and beautifully presented. I recommend the venison main course. ||Overall it was a beautiful little country escape and we would love to come back in future- I definitely recommend gifting someone a stay here (like we were), as it is a truly beautiful hotel in a stunning location.

Four of us recently had a lovely afternoon tea at Yorebridge House. One was gluten free, one had scones jam and cream and two of us had the full works! The building is beautiful and the sitting room we were in with its comfortable sofas made us feel relaxed and we enjoyed having our own private area. Ellen looked after us very well and was able to tell us a bit about the hotel and facilities. The highlight for me were the scones which were light and delicious. The only observation I would make is that we were only offered an afternoon tea blend and I had to ask for Earl Grey. I assume they have herbal options but this was not clear.

From the moment we arrived, the care and attention we received were exceptional. This isn’t your average countryside hotel — you can genuinely feel the passion and pride of the owners and staff in every detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and give it a well-deserved 5 stars.

We stayed in the Kariega room which has a lovely position on the river with it's own private hot tub. Room was nice, homely, clean with sound of the river in the background.||||Hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful.||||The restaurant is the star of the show in my opinion. We ended up eating there 3 nights in a row. The food was excellent - every single course we had was superb and the service was very good indeed.||||Location of the hotel is central within the Yorkshore Dales so very good location for accessing many of the hikes you may wish to do or villages you wish to visit.||||We will definitely come back here in the future.

Our 5th visit and unfortunately our worst. Now I say worst but it’s still lovely. BUT. It’s looking tired. Threadbare carpets on the stairs to the hot tub rooms. Our room (The Rahmoune) was also a bit tired. Cobwebs and flies. Also flies around the restaurant and bar. And lots of mess behind the reception desk. It’s clear that the ownership has changed and that extra bit of pride seems to have gone and it’s lost its sparkle. I would still recommend a stay but it needs that bit of love.

This has to be our favourite hotel, from the moment you arrive at Yorebridge it is just utter relaxation. The service is fabulous without being pretentious, the food is stunning and there really is nothing that brings Yorebridge down. ||We stayed in the new room and were asked for some feedback and the staff were genuinely interested in our comments which is such a good sign. ||We cannot wait to visit again!
