Yori Wimbledon Review - Wimbledon - London - The Infatuation

"The tinted windows and lack of natural light make Yori's black dining room a little on the S.A.D. side during the day, but it gives off a cool, sleek energy around dinnertime. This Korean spot on Wimbledon Broadway is a one-stop shop for solid versions of crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside pajeon, and spicy ramyun that you’ll want to keep eating long after you’re full. Groups take turns cooking wagyu and squid on the grill, solo diners chew on slightly sweet, doughy tteokbokki while scrolling through Twitter, and everyone leaves satisfied. " - Rianne Shlebak

Google
Ordered sushi to go. When I got home all 3 of my rolls are just a little bit of fish covered in mayo. I ordered 1 spicy tuna 1 spicy salmon and 1 spicy yellowtail. By far the worst sushi I ever had. $26 for terrible food.

Zarina

Google
Really enjoyed this place. Definitely make your way here if you want quality sushi. Great place alongside long Beach. Sushi is very fresh. Great location with a parking lot. Staff were attentive & courteous. Small restaurant yet very comfortable with good atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Julia Styagova

Google
This sushi place used to be great, one of those spots that felt overpriced at first, but the taste kept you coming back. Unfortunately, the quality has drastically declined over the past year. The rolls are now mostly filler with very little fish, and the sashimi is paper-thin and lacks freshness. Really disappointing overall.

Stefanie Salita

Google
Some of the best sushi I've ever eaten and it's my all time favorite! Everything is fresh and absolutely delicious! Service is also perfect. Salmon honey truffle appetizer is on another level. So is the black cod miso and scallop carpaccio.

Liana Kane

Google
Let’s be clear, This is the best sushi around. Hands down! Go see Yori and Angela (our server) and you won’t be disappointed. Music was awesome too. 80s station! Was great!! The fluke miso was to die for

veranika shalamitskaya

Google
The best sushi on the island, outstanding and fast service, incredible tuna tataki and jalapeño yellowtail, always warm welcoming atmosphere and personal approach. 10/10

Google
I went here today for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I just came back from Japan two weeks ago and this place felt very similar. The fish was excellent.

Christine Ritchie

Google
This place is the best. The owner and staff bring top notch quality to Long Island. I go here whenever I can and always suggest it to people. I still haven't found anywhere in Long Island that's this good.

Yelp
Have only done takeout. First time dining at the restaurant. Simple decor but the food was exceptional! Started with black cod miso, rock shrimp, spicy tuna and crispy rice and yellowtail jalapeno. So fresh and flavorful. It could have been served at nobu. The rolls were so exceptional without a lot of rice. The star of the show was the fish. Cannot wait to go back

Yelp
First time here and the service was excellent, really friendly staff, open sushi counter type of prep so you can see the sushi being made. The restaurant is small and cute with seating or a sushi counter. The Yori Nori was very good, there's a layer of crispy rice below the fish that was super tasty, the sashimi was a great texture, shrimp tempura I liked they put the sauce on the side so it didn't get soggy and the shrimp are large pieces. Would recommend!

Abbie M.

Yelp
Incredible experience. Super chill and casual. Staff is beyond kind and attentive. The sushi is next level. As someone who lives in Miami/ NYC I've had my fare share of omakase but this was unbelievable- for a very affordable price as well. All the fish is fresh and melts in your mouth. Who knew Long Island had incredible sushi ?!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I tried this place out Thursday. We got take out and took it to a park. The food was really amazing! It tasted very fresh. I got the Oceanside roll and an eel avocado roll, and my boyfriend had the spicy kani and cucumber, spicy yellowtail, and spicy tuna rolls. We both shared the rock shrimp creamy spicy and it was SO good. The workers were super nice when I went to pick up my order and ordering online was super easy. Only downside: it's pretty expensive. The whole order including one order of miso soup came to $73. Definitely wasnt prepared for that! So while this is one of our new favorite places, it's gonna have to be a special treat.

Yelp
Amazing sushi! Best of the best. I went here 2-3 times already but this one the food was even better. Service also very nice and friendly. Atmosphere is just fine. Want to come with flip flop or nice dress you will feel comfortable!! Must try.

Gabriel R.

Yelp
Food was ok but Kind of expensive for the quality of the food. Small rolls, compared to price and venue. Service was quick. Ambiance was uninspiring.

Yelp
Very good sushi. Take out service is great. I highly recommend. 5 stars. Tuna tar tar tacos are off the charts.

Yelp
This is a great sushi spot right in the heart of Oceanside! I've been eating here for about 3 years now. The fish is fresh. And the service is pretty good. However they are not always great with requests or accommodating the customer. Sometimes people have food allergies or sensitivities so we get dressing on the side. Or omit something from a salad etc. they simply ignore your request They need to be more accommodating. Every Japanese place I go to honors special requests. That's how you get repeat business.

Luke B.

Yelp
I have been going to this place with my wife for over 5 years, and the food was always excellent until recently. The portions are now tiny, the quality of the fish has gone downhill and honestly their customer service took a nose dive. I don't care where the owner worked, he can be extremely nasty and condescending. The restaurant is extremely small and they make all delivery drivers and even the customers wait OUTSIDE even in the winter. what!?? This must be new, but it is insane. I really hope they improve on these things. Or they will lose a lot of regulars.
google avatar

Yelp
Best sushi EVER. All the sauces are homemade and so tasty. Every time I go there is a new dish Yori creates for me to try. The staff is absolutely incredible, they treat me like family. And the new sushi bar gives the place a nice fancy lift while protecting the sushi from germ. Favorite food and restaurant I have ever been to!!!!
google avatar

Noah D.

Yelp
Food was good but nothing special Waiters are nice but the chefs take a long time Every table is close together and you are sitting with strangers
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
Good sushi but my goodness the prices are insanely high. $8.50 for a spicy salmon roll. Crazy. My husband orders from here weekly and swears it's the best sushi in Oceanside. I'm sure it is, we've had Masago, Sushi House, and dabbled in the Long Beach sushi scene too. Yori is definitely higher quality but be ready to spend $$$$.

Suzanne S.

Yelp
Food was en pointe.. chicken teriyaki, the fried sticky rice with tuna were all very fresh and flavorful. I got my food as delivery so I cannot comment on restaurant service. The sushi rolls also were super fresh . I would definitely order from them again!
google avatar

Christopher G.

Yelp
Yori is a gem of a sushi spot in Oceanside. Hard to believe that a place in an Oceanside strip mall could turn out such quality food, but Yori truly fits the bill. Their sushi is always fresh and other food dishes are incredibly tasty. Yori is my wife and my go-to for take out!
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Best local place for sushi! For those that don't eat sushi the chicken udon was excellent! Large portion and nice sizes of chicken! Pricey but with it!
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
Disappointing take out experience. I don't mind paying top dollar for quality, this experience left me wondering where's the fish in my sushi??? The pictures speak for themselves. Barely any fish inside!! And the eel tempura inside the roll was mostly tempura, and the eel had tough skin on it making it inedible. Crispy rice was served with the fish separate but it was only 1 ounce of fish (2oz cup half filled). The chicken entree was disappointing too, small portions, 8oz soup and white rice, 2 tiny pieces of broccoli and a few shreds of carrot with a tv dinner sized portion of chicken for $21. The over all flavor and taste wasn't anything special either. Underwhelming, disappointing and over priced.

Yelp
Hands down the best high end sushi in the area. No other Japanese restaurant comes close. It is more expensive than a lot of the other local spots, but you 100% get what you pay for. Very high quality sushi with a master sushi chef who whips up his own concoctions and will make you anything you desire.

Yelp
Came to visit my daughter up from South Florida. Freezing cold (Florida was record cold temps). I am an avid Sushi eater. Yori was nothing fancy from outside or inside. That's until the chef prepares your food. My favorite was the Lobster roll. Jumbo roll that is difficult to pick up with chopsticks and more then fits in your mouth in one bite. Every piece of seafood was equally as good. Washed it all down with a warm saki I wish we had this chef down south. Will be back soon on our next visit. I rate this in my top 10 favorites.

Yelp
This place is very expensive...and I live in Manhattan!! We started with the yellow tail jalapeño app...6 TINY pieces of fish with a sliver of jalapeño and sauce. This was not very flavorful and an absolute joke for 18$!!! Edamame was fine and we ordered the the honey truffle roll also. This roll was ok but nothing to write home about...Also very small. We then ordered an 8 piece omakase each. This sushi was very good but apparently 4-5$ per bite. Fresh and most pieces we had were very tasty but 5$ for one bite of food?!?! Overall, for the food listed plus 2 additional individual nori salmon pieces, my tab was $200 with tax and tip!!! Would only go back for a special occasion.

Yelp
Amazing in every way! The rolls were so very fresh! We had Spicy Kani salad, Red Dragon Roll, Oceanside Roll, Honey Truffle and California roll. I cannot say which was the best! They were so amazing. David was our waiter and my daughter wanted me to mention how very nice he was as well! We will be coming back again and again! Spicy kani was the best we ever had!

Yelp
I've been ordering from Yori for the last 2 years. The food was always delicious and I always went out of my way to tell them how good the food was. Last week, I ordered tuna and it was tough. It's always melt in your mouth good, last week for the first time it wasn't. So I called and told them because I couldn't eat it. I went to order just now and the person who answered told me the owner will no longer serve me tuna. He wouldn't even get on the phone. I've never in my life been treated like this in a restaurant. All because I didn't like something...once? I would never give this guy another dollar for his beyond over priced but good food. Terrible businessman, even worse human being. Go to Nagahama, Hide is 1000 times better. Literally in shock.
google avatar

Lenny R.

Yelp
I still can not say 1 bad thing about this place. No matter what time of day you come the sushi is so fresh. Yori really puts his heart and soul into his cooking. He is a tremendous chef and its definitely the best food you'll ever taste.

M N.

Yelp
Yelp should investigate these high reviews . They have to be paid reviews. Extremely low quality product being used service was barely existent and not friendly. One and done
google avatar

Yelp
This my second time in a row ordering from Yori . I order take out and is the best sushi in Oceanside . You get what you pay for great quality . So tummy

Yelp
This was a solid 5 star experience! I absolutely loved everything that I ate plus the chef and his staff provided positively outrageous service! We opted to sit at the Sushi bar where the chef (owner Yori) talked with us, explained each dish, and ensured that we were having a good time. We drank a couple of Japanese beers while we waited for Mike's Sushi Entree and my Sashimi Entree. The entrees came with Miso soup or salad and Mike and I both chose the Miso soup. I've had my fair share of Miso soup but none that tasted as good as this one. When I sampled the Whitefish Tiradito appetizer and Yellowtail Jalapeno appetizer, I realized that the chef had a real talent with sauces. The yuzo soy was excellent as was the yuzo lemon sauce with rocotto chili, black sea salt and cilantro. Our pristine fish entrees arrived. Every piece of fish was fresh! The rice underneath Mike's sushi was cooked and seasoned perfectly. And there was something special about the wasabi - It tasted like horseradish without the sucker punch. When we were finished, we sat back and smiled. We just found our new Sushi Spot!

Yelp
Don't judge a restaurant by the parking lot it's in! As I drove into the parking lot that is located in, my first instinct was to look for another place. It didn't look like anything special and I almost made the mistake of passing it by. It's a small place, decorated very minimalistic. The server took us in right away, he was very attentive and warm. I order Sashimi and Sushi rice, simple order. Wow! The fish was so fresh and the presentation was beautiful. I enjoyed every bit of salmon, tuna, octopus, white fish. They also have a salad with an soy onion vinaigrette, bomb! I left feeling satisfied and light. This place is wonderful and I haven't experienced sashimi so fresh in a long time. Great job to the owner, staff and sushi chef's! Sincerely, C.

Emin G.

Yelp
Best sushi on Long Island. The only places that are better are in Manhattan. The staff is friendly. Overall a great place.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely the best sushi we've had in Oceanside. Chef Yori has worked at Nobu in Manhattan and brought with him a menu of delicious and unique sushi offerings, along with the staples that you'd expect. The miso black cod is delicious and the star appetizer special when available. They also have a really nice make your own bento box special that includes a variety of offerings from both the sushi bar and the kitchen. The wait staff is unbelievably kind and attentive. The sushi is top notch and the unique offerings make Yori a must-try.

Yelp
This place is awesome!! We were in the area and looked it up, came up Hot and New. From the outside it diesnt look like much; small shopping center, looks like a small place. But we were blown away! Do not judge a book by its cover! The staff there is extremely friendly, everybody was smiling and very accommodating. We sat right away. Ordered some apps and the main dish and everything came out quick and was fresh. I got the bbq chicken and it was delicious. I wanted to try something different from teriyaki chicken I always get from Japanese restaurants and I was not dissatisfied. My girl's got the sashimi and couldn't stop raving about it. She said it was some of the best shes ever had. Pork gyoza was incredible. And the salad didnt have the usual ginger dressing, they put a soy onion vinaigrette...very interesting. A nice change of pace. Overall this place was great. If you're in the area don't miss out.

Yelp
Heard all the good hype about Yori and thought I should go and check it out for myself because Sushi is something I can eat 7 days a week. The restaurant itself is very quaint. My friend and I ordered different roles then we normally get and each roll was fresh and delicious. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to all our needs. I think this is a sushi restaurant that will be around for a long time.

Yelp
Welcome to Oceanside, Yori! Excellent, fresh, well prepared sushi by a chef who clearly makes every roll with his heart. The food was fresh and delicious. It was served by a waiter who was so attentive and kind, that added to our meal experience. We had three rolls: tuna, sweet potato and shrimp tempura. Substituted soy paper for seaweed paper. All excellent. Apps were edamame, gyoza and shumai. The gyoza were the best we have ever had. Edamame was at the perfect temperature. Three great choices. Only down sides.... no brown rice or black rice options. Please add that. Its important for those who cannot really eat white rice anymore. Also, no Amex cards excepted. Prices are on the high side of sushi, and although the dinner was worth the extra bucks, I would have preferred using my Amex card for convenience. All in all though the excellent food and wonderful service is totally worth visiting this restaurant!

Yelp
Amazing, fresh, creative sushi tucked away in a non descript strip mall location. Yori is passionate about his craft as a bright and enthusiastic Nobu alum. Yori is clearly driven by a pure love for what he is doing and delivers delicious results. Do not let the austere decor fool you. Take a seat at the sushi bar, and put yourself in his hands.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is ok. Staff not too bright. Telling people they can't have sauce or crackers for tuna tartare. Came here on a recommendation with friends that have been here before. Really dumb. I'm a 4 day a week client. Buh bye.

Hadi D.

Yelp
Just had an unparalleled Omakase experience at Yori last night. The superb quality of the fish and the rich flavor exploded on each bite! The place was bustling but the food impressively came very quickly. Highly recommended!

C K.

Yelp
Great sushi & appetizers. Super fresh. Always delicious. My go to sushi place in Nassau County.

Steve H.

Yelp
What a letdown. After reading all the great reviews we were so excited . My go to sushi sashimi is typically in the $20s. Here its $36 plus a $1 to change the roll which is equal value on regular menu. I figured the high cost wouldn't matter of the sushi was high quality. It was average grade. Sliced extremely thin . Supermarkets give more than this. Of the 4 pieces sushi none were salmon which is standard. They doubles up on fluke.never seen that before. I wish if of taken a pic. It was all very sloppy cut. Im just gonna assume this is the rest in the area is so much worse that people think its good It was so bad a picture wasnt worth my time

Matt S.

Yelp
Good food but the hours are only dinner so I don't get there anymore Need a lunch time

Steven G.

Yelp
By far the best sushi restaurant on Long Island. This hidden gem has the same quality and flavor of the top sushi places in NYC, without the trip. I can't say enough good about how great the food is here.

Lori L.

Yelp
The best sushi around. Just as good as Nobu for half the price. Small place but there are tables to sit as well as a sushi bar. Service was also great. Highly recommend this little gem!!

Yelp
Seriously delicious food, super fresh fish and friendly staff. Chef is awesome he has some serious skills. Love this place.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
I can't rave enough about how great the food is. Chef Yori brought his expertise to Long Island to produce a high quality product. Anyone who is a sushi lover or foodie should definitely check this place out. The service is great too.

Mel T.

Yelp
Everything was delicious and service was great but it was a little pricey, in my opinion.

Yelp
Wonderful sushi, masterfully crafted, haven't had sushi this good in a while! Great service as well waiter was very nice and attentive.

Yelp
Finally ordered from them tonight. Everything was stellar! I'm sorry I waited so long to try them. Bravo! A+++++

Yelp
Chef Yori passion for his food is evident as you walk in his new Oceanside, NY establishment. He worked as a sous chef for 10 years at Nobu and I'm so excited that he brought this expertise to Long Island. His skills truly impressed me on our first time visit. His food and most importantly his fish is butter soft and delicious and extremely of high quality. The menu has lots of options even for non-sushi eaters (my boyfriend) lol Chef Yori was amazing very kind and welcoming and so was his staff. Can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious food!! Here are just some of my recommendation of the night Thinly sliced white fish served with rocotto chili, black sea salt and cilantro in yuzo lemon sauce. We had their , Pan Fried , with creamy spicy tuna this is a must try!! We also had their seared pepper-crusted Tuna with mix greens served with onion soy vinaigrette dressing. Steven had their stir fried Japanese think noodle with chicken it was just simply amazing!!! For sushi we had their and , pure deliciousness Must try their Wagyu isss soo delicious!!! We went again and it's truly out of this world delicious!!

Yelp
A group of us doctors were heading back from the Long Beach campus of South Nassau Communities Hospital when we noticed the newly opened Yori. We figured "why not" and headed in to this average looking restaurant located in a strip mall. Are we glad we did. We were greeted by the friendly owner who is a masterful Itamae (highly skilled sushi chef). The fish is pristine and of extremely high quality. As for the sushi and maki creations you can sum it up in one word AWESOME. Visually impressive and creatively enticing sushi and rolls are delicious. The sauces used on each masterpiece enhance the taste experience without overwhelming the fish. Non fish eaters will enjoy great Japanese cooking. Yori is on par with Masa, Morimoto and Nobu at much, much gentler prices This place is a must try destination restaurant for those who love sushi. I hope the surrounding communities support Yori. It's simply that great.
